It is May which means a whole host of things from Bealtaine to the emergence of the Oak King and Holly King, the Green Man, Persephone, the May Queen and other figures associated with rebirth and fertility. So, in honour of these celebrations and folk figures, we turn to the Welsh Mabinogion, a collection of stories from the 12th-13th centuries. Our first story is the abduction of Creiddylad and our second is the creation of the flower queen, Blodeuwedd.  Show notes can be found on our website at: www.talesfromtheenchantedforest.com You can also find us on: Bluesky Mastodon Instagram   TikTok

These became known as May Day Baskets. lots of may day traditions continue today around the world: In English tradition, the observance is celebrated by crowning a May Queen and dancing around a maypole. The Finnish recognize a carnival-type celebration in the streets that includes a special type of lemonade made with lemons, brown sugar, and yeast. and In France, it is correct to give people either dogwood or lily of the valley while Italians celebrate with a seasonal feast in honor of the arrival of spring.

In this Beltane 2025 episode of Back on the Broomstick, Laylla and Chelle light the fires of the season with a warm and witchy exploration of all things Beltane; from ancient rites to modern magic. They begin with a look at the history of the May Queen, a surprisingly short but deeply symbolic tradition that still holds power in today's rituals. Whether you're dancing around a maypole or honoring the turning of the Wheel quietly at home, this episode is full of inspiration for how to celebrate Beltane as a solitary witch, including ribbon magic, sacred fire ideas, and simple ways to connect with the rising energy of the land. The witches share a spell to honor the May Queen or May King within yourself, tapping into your own sacred vitality, creativity, and wild joy. They also talk about the community from their old Beltane festivals and how excited they are to share another Beltane with that same group! The witches are more than ready for open fields, bonfires, ecstatic dance, and the deep magic of shared seasonal celebration! They touch on a bit of current controversy too; specifically some recent conversation around the Beltane Fire Society in Edinburgh, where a new tax may be causing issues with this years celebration. No, it's not about how they pronounce Edinburgh wrong (though, yes, they have in the past), but rather a conversation around public paganism and potential targeted harassment in the form of administrative paperwork and fees.Whether you're rekindling old traditions or crafting new ones, this episode invites you to stand in your own sacred spark, celebrate the beauty of Beltane, and remember that the fire lives in you, too.Fire Festival 2025Fire Festival ControversyGot a question? Whitelands College (now part of University of Roehampton) has an archive of May Monarch robes that date back to the 1870s. The first ceremonies were sponsored by John Ruskin, the writer and polymath, who commissioned the children's book illustrator Kate Greenaway to design the first robe. Each year Whitelands elects a May Queen (or since 1986 King) who wears a specially designed robe. The monarch leads a May Day ceremony and is invested by a bishop. These days there's a procession led by Morris dancers and a service, and previous May Monarchs are invited back and wear their costumes. Gilly and Gemma are the College archivists and have both been involved in organising the ceremony.

When I first ran the Leadville Trail 100 in the early 90s, and for many years afterward, there had never been a finisher younger than 23 years old. A few had unsuccessfully tried, but it was considered too much of an endeavor for a younger person to do the necessary training for an ultramarathon. But then along came Clare Gallagher and Annie Hughes, major race winners and record-setters in their early 20s. In 2019, I ran the start-to-May Queen stretch of the LT100 alongside college senior Harrison Hornung, actually named after the main drag in Leadville, who was attempting to complete Leadman, which he did. There's no doubt the demographics in ultramarathons have trended younger, yet I was pretty surprised when I was up at the LT100 this year and saw that there were 4 or 5 runners in the 18-19 year old division. Alden Iselin of Newton MA just graduated from high school and impressively finished in 29:11:33. I was curious what made this young man tick, and what I discovered is an energetic 18-year old who is eager to explore new places and challenges, and who wants to help others seek similar goals. He is relatively new to the ultrarunning world, too, having only run his first 50-miler in NH in October. In February, he completed the rugged Orcas Island 100-miler, which was complicated by bad weather, precipitating a 12-hour start time delay. His time there was more than 32 hours. I greatly enjoyed hearing about what sparked his interest in ultrarunning, his training, the challenges he has faced in his nascent ultrarunning career, what he learned in these first experiences, and about his extraordinary focus for an 18-year old. Alden might be a future star, and you heard him first on the WASP!Alden IselinInstagram and Strava @aldeniselinBill Stahlsilly_billy@msn.comFacebook Bill StahlInstagram @stahlor and @coachstahlYouTube We Are Superman Podcast

The gang is back to piss on sacred trees, because we're talking about Midsommar! Who hurt Ari Aster? Does this film gaslight the audience? Why do so many people think this is a happy ending? Did the cult always have a plan for Dani? Would we want to jump off a cliff when we turn 72? And could we dance the longest and be crowned May Queen?

The Secret Teachings

While many tuned into King Charles' coronation hoping to see blatant signs of satan, what everyone saw was a pageantry drawing on centuries past, with a mixture of inbred thieves and groveling celebrities and peasants. Despite the Monarchy supposedly being merely symbolic, King Charles signed the UK Public Order Bill prior to coronation, empowering the police to take stronger action against peaceful protesters of the crown. While the cheap claims of ‘satan' and ‘illuminati' rarely are obvious, it is the nature of the monarchy itself which is in essence the embodiment of such ideas. The most overly strange image - for a royal coronation that is - involved a hooded figure walking past the entrance to Westminster Abbey, which lit social media ablaze with claims of the Grim Reaper. Perhaps the Saturnday Reaper is an omen of death, for body or rule, or perhaps it is a sign of death for something else. The announcement that Burger King is closing hundreds of stores the same week is perhaps yet another bad omen. But the real strangeness and unholiness, however, is genetic and historic. The House of Windsor and House of Stewart/Spencer both claim to be of the Holy Bloodline of Judah, out of which the Messiah must herald from according to Judaism. Princess Diana's marriage to Charles solidified this link and made it stronger, producing Prince Harry and Prince William. Through such intermarrying and bloodline merging, something akin to the Bene Gesserit from Dune, a chosen One is to appear. Mythologized in the Arthurian Legend as King Arthur, this One is the Once and Future King - of England. Buckingham Palace said a week before the coronation that Charles' coronation “will reflect the monarch's role today and look towards the future…” The Saturday event on May 6 also included a liturgy of allegiance that world leaders and commoners were invited to recite: “I swear that I will pay true allegiance to Your Majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.”However, it is unclear how well the public took such an invitation. One CNN poll, along with others, found that Britons are more likely to say their views of the monarchy have worsened over the last decade. The poll, conducted by Savanta, shows that Charles' “heir Prince William is viewed with greater affection than his father,” though. Many feel that Charles will abdicate his throne to William before his death - which, despite his age of 74, for a Windsor may be another 30 years away. Until then, Charles has already fulfilled the theme of antichrist consciousness. Prince William's speech and his father's Coronation Oath, both included a call to the common people of ‘every faith and conviction'. Prior, when he was Prince, Charles even changed his title of “Defender of Faith” to “Defender of Faiths.” Charles is also one of the founding members of the WEF and has used his considerable wealth and influence to dazzle and scare the world into what he calls a “war-like footing” to fight the global threat of climate change, a disaster far more existential than disease. Charles' father, Prince Phillip, paved the way for the latter when he said: “In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation.” This string of ideas - from uniting all faiths and beliefs, to pretending to be a savior of man from itself or from disease - are the very justifications for the rise of an antichrist. National sovereignty must be eliminated, as must the sovereignty of self. The power of the antichrist rises under the staffs of Union and Favor, a power that takes hold because He uproots three powerful kings. Many believe these Kings are Washington, London, and the Vatican. Daniel 7:8-10 relates:“While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully. “As I looked, “thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before him. Thousands upon thousands attended him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were opened. The Coat of Arms for Charles has the saying, "Y Ddraig Goch Ddyry Cychwyn," meaning “The red dragon gives the lead.” In Revelation 13:2, “The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne…” Charles was also sculpted into a winged savior in 2002, representing his authority to “lead” us into a better world. But his leadership may involve a changing of leadership, as he gives the lead to William, who was, like the beast, wounded on the head at a young age. Revelation 13:3 says: “One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast.”The bloodline of the Holy Grail supposedly courses through the veins of Charles and William, along with their closest kin. Thus, they believe they are the rightful heirs to the throne of a New Jerusalem or Zion. As the poet William Blake wrote:I will not cease from Mental Fight,Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand:Till we have built Jerusalem,In Englands green & pleasant Land.King Charles was also born in 1948, the same year Israel became an independent nation from the British Empire with assistance from another antichrist in Germany. Since Charles is the Prince of Wales, and Wales belonged to the north-western territory of the Roman Empire, he fulfills the prophecy of the antichrist being a prince within the boundaries of the ancient Roman Empire. The Prince of Wales is actually the Prince of Rome, and now a new King of Rome. His title, King Charles III, also translates to 666 in both English and Hebrew gematria. This number of the beast, however, is also held by his son William, who may be given the lead.Since much of the world sees Charles as the Messiah to save us from ourselves, it is probably no coincidence that the World Health Organization declared the pandemic over on May 5, just hours before the savior was officially crowned King. Many articles related that despite the WHO declaration, 2019 and before is gone - “A latent desire persists to return to the world as it was in 2019, before anyone had ever thought of hoarding KN-95 face masks. That world, however, is gone.” Therefore we enter a new world on the weekend of King Charles' III coronation. Surely it is also no coincidence that a horse named Mage won the 149th Kentucky Derby, since Mage is singular for Magi, an ancient group of powerful priest and magicians who, all throughout the world, who controlled kings and queens. Whatever one thinks of the antichrist is debatable, but what one thinks of the Royal obsession with bloodlines and star alignments is another. Psalm 97:9 says “For you, O LORD, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.” The Most High is also the sun, and Prince William was indeed born the most high, on Litha, the summer solstice - June 21, 1982. There was also an eclipse of the Sun and Moon. Such interesting astronomical intrigue goes back to King Henry I who died in 1133 during a solar eclipse, always a bad omen. Williams daughter, Charolette, was born on May 2 during Beltane and right after May Day - which always features a May Queen. Charle's coronation took place May Day week on the 6th, and as the III some may find a way to see 666 there too. He was born during a lunar eclipse in Taurus. Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, was also born on a lunar eclipse in the sign of Cancer, a motherly symbol. Kate and William's wedding was also scheduled for April 29th, Beltane/Walpurgis. April 28th is the feast day of St. Catherine, as in Kate Middleton. Even Princess Diana, named after the goddess, married Charles the evening before a solar eclipse in Leo. Her infamous car crash took place the evening before a solar eclipse in virgo. Leo is the Lion and Virgo is the virgin, sacrificed by the King. Many are reminded here are Revelation 12:1-5: “A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.” The story gets even more bizarre when you realize that Diana was very likely pregnant at the time of the crash, having been with her partner Dodi Al Fayed. It is more than common knowledge that the Queen and British intelligence had a hand in her death, to prevent the tainting of their bloodline with Egyptian genetics and to get her out of the picture after Charles had left her for Camilla. Dodi Al Fayed's father, Mohamed Al-Fayed, played a very important part too.
