Does a Mechanism Linking Cellular Aging to Cellular Quiescence Exist?

Listen to a blog summary of a trending research paper published by Oncotarget on July 28, 2022, entitled, "Diverse geroprotectors differently affect a mechanism linking cellular aging to cellular quiescence in budding yeast." ______________________________________ The mechanisms of cellular aging and cellular quiescence have been preserved throughout evolution. Cellular quiescence is a temporary state of cell cycle arrest and low metabolic activity. Importantly, quiescent (Q) cells maintain the ability to quickly activate and re-enter the cell cycle (in response to the appropriate stimuli). Recent research has shown that cellular quiescence may play a role in cellular aging. In a 2020 study, research findings indicated that the rate at which yeast cells age is determined by a complicated program that affects 1) when a state of quiescence is entered, 2) how long quiescence is maintained and 3) when the cell exits quiescence. Researchers found that caloric restriction (CR) (a geroprotective intervention) appears to remodel this program, and this remodeling could be responsible for the CR-dependent delay of yeast chronological aging. Thus, the researchers considered the question: Does a single mechanism exist which links cellular aging to cellular quiescence? “We have introduced a new yeast model for studying mechanisms linking cellular aging to cellular quiescence [109, 110].” In a new study, researchers (Anna Leonov, Rachel Feldman, Amanda Piano, Anthony Arlia-Ciommo, Jennifer Anne Baratang Junio, Emmanuel Orfanos, Tala Tafakori, Vicky Lutchman, Karamat Mohammad, Sarah Elsaser, Sandra Orfali, Harshvardhan Rajen, and Vladimir I. Titorenko) from Concordia University, Montreal, used a new yeast model to test their hypothesis that a mechanism exists linking cellular aging to cellular quiescence. On July 28, 2022, their research paper was published in Oncotarget and entitled, “Diverse geroprotectors differently affect a mechanism linking cellular aging to cellular quiescence in budding yeast.” Full blog - https://www.oncotarget.org/2022/08/05/does-a-mechanism-linking-cellular-aging-to-cellular-quiescence-exist/ DOI - https://doi.org/10.18632/oncotarget.28256 Correspondence to - Vladimir I. Having that ability to have confidence in oneself and to surround yourself with the best possible people to fulfill your dream is super important. Rachel Feldman is the director and screenwriter, and currently in pre-production, of Lilly, a political thriller to star Oscar-nominated Patricia Clarkson and Emmy-nominated Thomas Sadoski, based on the remarkable life of Fair Pay icon, Lilly Ledbetter. Rachel has spent her life working on incredible projects, fulfilling a lot of her passions, but also taking a hard look into women's issues in Hollywood as well. Today, she's going to share with us how she got around the system and figure out how to connect with Hollywood people to play the characters. Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation: Rachel's background in the movie industry How she got to make a movie about Lilly How Meryl Streep became the “godmother” of the Lilly movie The challenge of raising money How her team got formed and how the movie is coming together A look into Lilly Ledbetter's very inspiring story Episode Highlights: Getting the Rights to Make the Lilly Movie At the Democratic Convention, this Alabama woman came out to speak about her plight being an Alabama tire factory supervisor, and how she had been cheated on a salary. From that point on, she decided to track down her story. She wanted to get the rights to the movie, but she didn't get it initially. Four years later, she approached Lilly's lawyer again and she finally got the rights. She promised them to live, eat, breathe and sleep the story until she had gotten it made. Nine years later, she has kept that promise and they're about to go into production. Having the Confidence to Reach Out Not having huge connections in Hollywood, Rachel mustered up the courage and confidence to send Meryl Streep a letter. She turned down the role, but she offered Rachel the help she needed and connected her to people that eventually led her to find her actors for the movie. The Challenge of Raising Money And so, this has been a nine-year journey for Rachel. She contacted tons of people for support and she was turned down over and over, until she met a fellow who has produced over 50 independent films, which means he has raised millions of dollars to make those moviesand was willing to work with her. She then touched base with her high school friend who helped her raise the seed capital. Moreover, they created an impact campaign that will accompany this film and they're raising money not only through equity, but also through donations. Today on Financial Fluency, I am pleased to have Rachel Feldman on the show.  Rachel is works with lifestyle business coaches both online and brick and mortar in order to help them grow the business of their dreams, from the ground up, using free tools, and with little money. In her prior life, Rachel was in Commercial Real Estate, a profession she loved.  When she began to have personal health issues, and realized that the health industry focuses on the one-cure-fits-all attitude, Rachel knew that one day she would be helping people in the health and lifestyle fields.    Things took a turn for her when her family lost everything due to the crash in the stock market,  and she had a decision to make.  Go back to Commercial Real Estate, or find her passion and create something new.  Without any experience, she started building her health coach business with a website and videos, and because she was afraid to speak in public, YouTube.  Little did she know, she was building her online presence, and people were finding her via her online videos.   She goes on to explain how to create your niche, by sharing your message, what problem are your solving, and how to express it in a way that others can relate to it, by sharing your story. About a year ago, Rachel made the switch from being a health coach, to being a business launch coach. For a successful sales funnel, here is Rachel’s list of must haves: Having 5-15 entry points, such as challenges, opt-in freebie, an audio, checklists,  giveaways, raffles etc. to diversify your message and delivery to appeal to as many people as possible. Nurturing according to the nature of the entry point. Focussing on your client customer experience.   Rachel Shares Her Message Here: “You can build a leakfree sales funnel from your business, we can all be doers, but you do have to believe in what you are doing because people buy a journey, people buy you, and they buy your service.” You can reach Rachel on her websites at www.rachelafeldman.com and www.healthcoachbiz.rachelswellness.com, on Facebook , on Twitter at @rachelafeldman, on Instagram, and on YouTube.     Resources: Rachel’s  “Done for You” Program:  http://yourhealthcoachbiz.com/ Fancy Hands:  https://www.fancyhands.com/ Hire My Mom:  https://www.hiremymom.com/ Rachel Feldman is a wellness momma and business launch coach.
