Welcome to the BE ENCOURAGED! Podcast! I am your host Jackie Brindle and you are listening to episode 86! Thank you for pressing play today! This podcast is all about encouraging you in various ways and you are all in for a treat today! Have you ever thought about being a leader or perhaps you already are a leader in some capacity! I heard this quote years ago, “Be the kind of leader, that you would want to follow”. That might be easier said than done which is why I felt led for you to hear from one of the people I have learned so much from! I can see that this person is a true leader as a husband, in his church, and within today's culture. I want you to pause and think about who you are leading today? Who calls on you to lift them up in their day, ask for advice, listening ear, help them, make them smile? Maybe you've shown leadership in your day to day, impacting another person's life because you've treasured the life that you impacted and in your own way —- you have made a difference! As a leader, or by showing leadership qualities, you may not be able to see the fruits of your labor, whether it's in the classroom —-- at home —- on social media —- or in your community, which is why I want you to know that your leadership matters! YOU MATTER! Today, Micah Marshall is going to unfold what's important to him as he leads our youth and all generations today! Micah is the executive director and founder of the incredible organization called, Refugee Youth Network. Micah touches on points that are grounding, challenging, and inspiring. He urges us all to be so compelled by God's love and to live that out not by judging others or dividing others but by building bridges through asking questions and building authentic relationships. He stirs up the heart of it all —- that there's only one you in this whole world and that you matter so much to God that He placed you here on this earth for a God given purpose. I have no doubt that Micah will rally us all —- even if don't feel like you are “born to lead,” into posturing our lives and challenging us all to become the leaders God has meant for us all to be! Also don't hesitate to take some notes, because there so many great treasures to take note of in this encouraging conversation! SO saddle up — grab your cup of coffee, get on your, walk, or run and wherever you are —-- BE ENCOURAGED! When Ashleigh Hinde launched WALDO as an ambitious 28-year-old, she had one goal: disrupt the eye care industry and make eye care an essential part of everyday life. She founded WALDO as an innovative, global e-commerce company that would champion positive vision for all through accessible, high quality products and trustworthy expert service with a human centric customer experience. Today, the brand sells daily contact lenses and other eye care products without the price tag and hassle. As the granddaughter of acclaimed South African wildlife photographer, Gerald Hinde, as well as an avid wildlife photographer herself, Ashleigh understood the role our eyes play in how we see the world. She began wearing contacts at 11 years old and after nearly two decades, spent across three continents, grew frustrated with the quality of and massive markups on contact lenses sold by large pharmaceutical companies. She launched WALDO from a simple need: she needed to order more contacts but found the process complicated, confusing and expensive. So, inspired to drive innovation in the industry, she dove head first into the world of entrepreneurship to make eye care both personal and exciting. On this episode of WorkParty, find out how Ashleigh made the leap to entrepreneurship after years in the corporate world, and how she's on a mission to end avoidable blindness, one lens at a time.    Sponsors: • Shopify |  Go to shopify.com/party for a FREE 14-day trial and get full access to Shopify's entire suite of features. • Clare | • Visit Clare at www.clare.com/party to get started on your own paint projects! In this episode, Chris (he/him) and Celine (she/her), as former co-leads of UBC Medicine's 2SLGBTQ+ Mentorship Group, talk with Dr. Eva Moore (she/they), an Adolescent Medicine Paediatrician at BC Children's Hospital, about navigating queer identity in medicine and how we can make medicine more inclusive, and maybe a little more loud, proud and rainbow-coloured. Dr. Moore candidly shares their journey both professionally and personally, from coming out (or perhaps “inviting in”) to starting a family, and what it has meant to be “out” throughout her life and career. We discuss the power of mentorship and representation outside of and within medicine, especially for queer trainees, and while we acknowledge the progress that has been made in society and in medicine, we recognize the ongoing harms of homophobia and transphobia that exist to this day. This podcast aims to add to the conversation that we hope will continue to shift the culture in medicine, to one that not only tolerates queerness, but which actively and openly celebrates it.Guest: Dr. Eva Moore, Adolescent Medicine Paediatrician at BC Children's Hospital, Clinical Associate Professor and Program Director of the Adolescent Medicine Subspecialty Residency and Clinical Fellowship Training Program at UBC.Hosted and Edited by: Chris Kobylka-Pang and Celine McCaughran-Contreras, recent graduates of the UBC MD 2022 Class.Resources:To learn more about the OUTreach Mentorship initiative, visit https://mdprogram.med.ubc.ca/student-affairs/mentorship/outreach-2slgbtqia-identified-in-medicine/UBC 2SLGBTQ+ in Medicine Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ubcqueermedicine/Canadian Queer Medical Students Association Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cqmsa/Recorded on the ancestral, traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-waututh) Nations.

As Americans look for solutions in the wake of this week's unimaginable shooting in Texas, the Last Day team asks: Who does the Second Amendment protect? In this episode, they trace its racist roots, learn why a former firearms executive blames the gun industry for sowing fear, division, and maybe even anarchy in our country, and take a look at how we ended up in this culture of fear, mass shootings, and other acts of violence. Kelsey Eyers and Lori Lefcourt are the powerhouse duo behind Rexxy, a brilliant and innovative affiliate marketing agency. Kelsey and Lori are both entrepreneurs who saw a major gap in the marketing industry. The old way of paying thousands, sometimes multimillion dollar deals for influencer marketing, isn't producing the ROI that was once promised. The average social media follower has grown more and more skeptical of influencers who sell any kind of product if the price is right. Kelsey and Lori figured out how to scale authentic, word-of-mouth marketing through affiliate programs. The best and most organic way that you can get out there in front of people is to build a salesforce of your customers who know your brand, love it, and trust you as an owner. We discuss how their approach works, the philosophy behind their Frameworxx Playbook™, and how business owners can customize and launch their own affiliate program right now.    IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT: The most important lessons that Kelsey and Lori learned from launching their first businesses  What to look for in a business partner  The story behind how they started Rexxy  The shift of the buying power from celebrities and mega influencers to everyday people How to build creative, effective affiliate partnerships  Two major Frameworxx Playbook™ success stories    RESOURCES To get access to the Frameworxx Playbook™, community, and small group coaching calls for $497 (down from $2,500!), use code CHRIS at checkout: rexxy.co/frameworxx-affiliate-program  Text DAILY to 310-421-0416 to get daily Money Mantras or Business Perspective messages to boost your day.     CONNECT WITH KELSEY & LORI  Follow Kelsey: @kelsey.eyers  Follow Lori: @lori_lefcourt  Follow Rexxy: @rexxyco    CONNECT WITH CHRIS Follow Me: @chriswharder Visit My Website: https://chrisharder.me    ABOUT KELSEY EYERS & LORI LEFCOURT Kelsey started her first brand, Sweat CBD in 2018 which she grew using affiliate marketing. She then went on to freelance her affiliate marketing services and eventually built a full service agency called BossBoxx.  Lori started her career on Wall Street and then went on to launch a brand called Unicreamer and also take her experience to the agency world.  Lori and Kelsey were introduced by Chris Harder after both joining his mastermind. Shortly after they started working together they realized that they had very similar goals and interests and both had a passion for helping brands. They decided to join forces and work together to help product based businesses start, launch & scale.  After about a year of working together, they started to realize that affiliate marketing was bringing their clients the best results. They had a dream to help brands large and small build organic affiliate marketing programs that could help them scale the way affiliates helped both of their brands in the past, and Rexxy was born. Rexxy is an affiliate marketing hub where companies of all sizes can find tools and resources to design, launch, and scale a high-converting affiliate marketing program.  While they continue to grow their agency, the Rexxy team is also gearing up to design and launch an affiliate tracking software in 2023.

Designer and entrepreneur Liz Lange pioneered "maternity chic" by creating stylish, body conscious clothes for pregnant women—something that surprisingly didn't exist in the 1990s. Working alone out of a one-room office, she created Liz Lange Maternity, a brand that changed the face of maternity fashions and disrupted the industry before anyone else had the chance to. Fast forward to today and she's forged huge partnerships with Nike and Target and has dressed most major pregnant celebrities, from Cindy Crawford to Reese Witherspoon. After selling her namesake brand, the industry innovator made a major return with the purchase of Figue, a popular ready-to-wear dress brand. While she's been hard at work as Creative Director, she's also jumped right into the role of CEO, strategizing the brand's fresh perspective on direct-to-consumer growth. I'm so excited to talk to this industry icon about everything from how she built her maternity empire from the ground up to the importance of having a strong POV in the fashion industry.    Sponsors: • Printfresh | Head to printfresh.com/workparty or use code PARTY for 15% off your first order! • Bliss |  Get 25% off your purchase of Block Star Daily Mineral Sunscreen on Blissworld.com and use code PARTY at checkout. • Athletic Greens |  Athletic Greens is giving you a FREE 1 year supply of immune-supporting Vitamin D AND 5 FREE travel packs with your first purchase.
