What does it take to produce three feature documentaries, a feature comedy, and have two more in the works? Producer Leslie Bland shares the “special sauce” that's made his production companies Orca Cove Media and Less Bland Productions so successful. There's plenty to learn as he tells host Joyce Kline why filmmaking pulled him away from a successful career in live professional theatre, how he made cross-cultural connections through his collaboration with Cowichan filmmaker Harold Joe, and how, in a competitive world, sticking with original IP can lead to success.LESLIE BLAND's film and TV work has been featured on Bell Media, Discovery Networks, Amazon, Super Channel, Knowledge Network, FNX, Télé Quebec, Hollywood Suite, APTN, and streamers and broadcasters in New Zealand, France, China, Australia and around the world. His award-winning, feature length documentary Gone South: How Canada Invented Hollywood featured interviews with celebrities Howie Mandel, Neve Campbell, David Foster, David Shore, Shannon Tweed and the late Alex Trebek. Dan and Travis have been threatening to show this movie to George for years. They never mentioned that it was Paul Verhoeven (Robocop, Total Recall, Basic Instinct) but you have to assume George had lofty expectations (or a paralyzing sense of confusion) when he read the "directed by" credits. Let's settle with you guys. This movie stinks. But the real discussion begins with the "Why!?" What happened to this movie? Why is it the way it is? We get into it. And then we quote it a bunch. And then we question ourselves. And Travis snorted again. Will Travis take back his baseless attacks on Shannon Tweed? Will George ever trust us to show him a movie again? Will Dan seriously defend this movie as accomplishing its mission? Thanks for the cheeseburger. Dr. Snuggles and friends - including sister podcast Ball Busters co-host Carlo - check out Robert Angelo's 1999 erotic thriller Forbidden Sins, and talk about writer Daryl 'Duke' Haney! Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 95 of your guide to the truly astonishing world of softcore films, and the world’s number one podcast on that subject! What better way to follow up Forbidden Games than with a little Forbidden Sins? We’re joined by Carlo, from sister podcast Ball Busters, to talk about the 1999 Robert Angelo erotic thriller. It’s...divisive, but it’s a fairly tightly plotted affair (although opinions on the show vary as to how well it pulls everything together). The good news is it’s got a pretty good cast, headlined by the queen of erotic thrillers herself, the one and only Shannon Tweed. She’s as brilliant as ever. Plus, in Drew news, it turns out he was growing his hair long up until a couple of weeks ago for a tremendous Halloween prank! Did he pull it off? Listen to find out! This film is one of a handful of softcore/erotic thriller efforts from the great Daryl ‘Duke’ Haney, so naturally we talk his life and career. You may know Haney as a regular actor in Corman films in the ‘80s and ‘90s, but you definitely know his writing from Friday the 13th Part VII. Suffice to say that’s not exactly his favourite work (and nor is this film, no doubt). Please support our Patreon, if you can! Hey, why not call us on our hotline? (724) 246-4669! We wrap up this shitty year with two VERY entertaining action films from the 90's that both feature the always-fun Robert Davi and also have plots that remind us VERY much of our favorite Christmas movie...a little flick called "Die Hard". We start off with "The Taking of Beverly Hills" from 1991, directed by Sidney J. Furie and starring Ken Wahl and Matt Frewer, with several good people in supporting roles. The plot revolves around a group of disgruntled cops who fake a chemical spill in Beverly Hills in order to rob the place blind. Lots of things are blown up, crushed and shot during the runtime and it's a ton of fun! We follow it up with 1995's "No Contest" which stars Shannon Tweed and Andrew "Dice" Clay. This time, a beauty pageant is taken over by a group of VERY bad men who hold the contestants hostage and only the kicks and punches of a former winner can save them! It is a very fun piece of fluff that delivers on every level. Neither of these movies are "good" on any defensible level, but they both left us all with huge grins on our faces and we recommend them. Please let us know what you thought of the show and send us some suggestions for future episodes. Please send emails to flickersfrom@yahoo.com or flickersfrom@gmail.com. It's a redemption of sorts for Baywatch as we careen from our worst reviewed episode to our best! Mitch falls in lust. Eddie has suspicions. Louis Vuitton bags show off their waterproofing. Baywatch tries its hand at an honest-to-goodness sex scene and pulls out all the stops - and candles! Join us and our special guest writer, comedian, and actor Shukri R. Abdi (@shukrisayshi) as we celebrate Shannon Tweed, provide a pertinent time code, and explore what happens when Mitch finally throws caution to the wind in this triple-six Hoffs of an ep!
Acomi and Turk182 watch the most 90s movie that was ever made in the 90s... or, so they think. Pirate photographers, carjackers, super models, female vigilantes, mob bosses, fashions shows, random nudity ,and clueless cops, this is Model By Day. Starring Famke Janssen (Marvel's X-Men and 007 Goldeneye), in a role she'd rather forget, Shannon Tweed, Sean Young, and Kim Coates. Filmed like a 90 minute music videos, with an equal amount of plot. Check your brain at the door, and leave your expectations in the car. We're watching Model By Day. Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen. All jokes and comments are improvised. NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on. Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. Note: This video is the commentary recorded by Acomi and Turk182, and selected screenshots. It is NOT a viewable copy of the film. The commentary can be enjoyed on its own, but if you want to experience the Let's Watch in all its glory, you'll need your own copy of the movie. Most of the movies viewed can be streamed online for free. #OMTWF #KorovaEntertainment #LetsWatch #LW #Acomi #Turk182 #awfulsome #ModelByDay #LadyX #90s #heroine #neverforget Follow Acomi on Twitter at @AcomiDraws and on Instagram at AcomiDraws. Well…sometimes you make “Die Hard” at a beauty pageant with 1982’s Playmate of the Year. We watched “No Contest” with Shannon Tweed, Andrew Clay, Robert Davi, and Roddy Piper! There’s twists. There’s turns. There’s inexplicable technology and “Dice” in disguise. Listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts and watch us on YouTube. Also, feel free to follow us on Instagram - @dminuspodcast - @circleslashtv
Welcome back, class! Your homework this week is 1995’s “No Contest” - starring Shannon Tweed, Andrew “Dice” Clay, and featuring “Rowdy” Roddy Piper! One review described it as “Die Hard in a beauty pageant.” Really looking forward to sifting through this hot garbage.
Concert with Bogey, Gene Simmons, Flora Klein, The Knock List, Shannon Tweed, Albert Fish, more ...
Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 81 of your guide to the truly astonishing world of softcore films, and the world’s number one podcast on that subject! This time, we’re joined by Shannon Tweed superfan Tanner (who runs the StrippedToKill account on Instagram). But never let it be said Get Soft choose the easy roads or obvious films: instead of going for one of her big name projects, we decided to talk about Powerplay, a 1999 erotic thriller slash sort of comedy? Something like that. It is a weird one, either way - after the death of her step father, a ‘90s hot young woman chases down the gold digging black widow who was responsible for his demise. She also brings along her 40-something boyfriend, who has zero charisma, and even less idea of how to track someone down with any kind of subtlety. There’s kickboxing, there’s some serious, serious gore, strange comic relief, a soundtrack that makes at least half the cast of the show cry with laughter, and copious amounts of Shannon Tweed acting evil. Of course, you can’t have a Shannon Tweed superfan on the show without talking about the life and career of the queen of erotic thrillers. We chart the rise and rise of Shannon Tweed from mink farm to Playboy mansion, all the way to reality show superstardom with Gene Simmons. Please support our Patreon, if you can! It's episode 15 of the "What's Real? podcast with Ed, Jared, and Cam. This week starts off with some banter between Ed and Jared on what's been keeping them busy during these crazy times. A "chunk" of the show begins as the guys do a full review and breakdown of both nights of Wrestlemania 36. The next topic is also in the same realm as pro wrestling but may be better considered a talk on "true crime". It's a review of the latest episode of "Darkside of the Ring: The Life and Crimes of New Jack"! Next is an in-depth movie review of Richard Stanley's latest feature, the Nic Cage led, "Color Out of Space". Moving on the guys debut their newest weekly segment, "Thursday Night Prime". The debut coverage is on the "classic" 90's B movie, "No Contest" (starring Andrew "Dice" Clay and Shannon Tweed). As usual, the show wraps up with "Goofs Are Goofs". Stay healthy and enjoy the show! www.churchillpictures.com

Tread Perilously's Failed Pilots month continues with a look at the ABC television pilot for Tagteam. Pro wrestlers Rowdy Roddy Pipper and Jesse "The Body" Ventura star as thinly fictionalized versions of themselves ousted from the wrestling circuit and train as cops in the LAPD. Their training officer becomes their captain, their "bully" a black partner of sorts, and their first case may prove you sometimes need cops who can bodyslam crooks. But will their skills help them prevent special guest star Jennifer Runyon from getting killed before she can testify to a mob hit? Also, will the show attempt to make her a love interest for Roddy? Erik and Justin decline to attempt Jesse Ventura impressions, so Erik compensates by trotting out his Gene Simmons, Tommy Wiseau, Steven Segal and Ace Frehly. Justin admits to not being a big wrestling fan even as he extols the virtues of Roddy's on-screen charisma. Robin Curtis becomes the pair's favorite Savvik and Jennifer Runyon receives "show favorite" status. Erik tries to determine San Diego's prime cultural artifact and his wrestling persona. Paddy's Pub from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia makes a special cameo and Justin stumbles into a version of Cagney & Lacey starring Robin Curtis and Shannon Tweed.
Max has a question: do polyamorous and/or kinky people have a similar history of sexual interest during adolescence? If you're looking for a good place to start with Shannon Tweed's filmography, I'd recommend "Scorned" or "Body Chemistry IV" (don't worry you haven't seen the first three, you'll piece it together)
So this is a movie we did not know existed, but after watching it... WE ARE HAPPY THAT IT DOES!1 Doug and Jamie discussed Meatballs 3 starring a young Patrick Dempsey, George Buza, and Shannon Tweed. They discussed everything from the movie possibly being set in the 50s, porn heaven and lots of Mean Gene talk. Meatballs 3 was a pleasant surprise for sure and the full movie is available on youtube, so check it out. Follow us on twitter @sequelsonly so you can tell us your thoughts and follow Doug @dougdietzcomedy Next week's Interview is a great one that you won't want to miss. It's with "Mean Gene", who was played by George Buza. George had an interesting career with some memorable roles over the years. George was the voice of Beast from X-Men animated series and did voices on Babar, Ewoks, The Busy World of Richard Scary and so much more. He was such a great guy and lots of fun to chat with. Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 46 of your guide to the truly astonishing world of softcore films, and the world’s number one podcast on that subject! This week, Anthony from fantastic looking erotic thriller documentary We Kill for Love is our special guest once again, and we check out 1993’s erotic revenge thriller masterpiece, Scorned - starring and directed by the legendary Andrew Stevens. Fun fact: Scorned is the only DTV erotic thriller available on blu-ray at this time. Granted, it’s only available as a very limited release (2 covers with 250 copies each), and only in Germany, but it looks stunning, and as a bonus comes with a 20 page booklet which is entirely in German (so could honestly say anything). The plot is bananas - wife of suicided man tries to take revenge on the guy who got a promotion ahead of him by seducing him, his son and wife - but it’s enormous fun, and stars iconic queen of ‘90s softcore Shannon Tweed! How have we made it 46 episodes without doing either an Andrew Stevens or Shannon Tweed movie?! Naturally, instead of talking about the careers of either of those two legends, we talk about the life and times of its writer, Barry Avrich. This was Avrich’s one dip into the erotic thriller genre, but he’s a big name in the world of Canadian advertising, and also a big name in the world of biographical documentaries (particularly Canadian-focused ones). He also wrote a 400 page autobiography, although weirdly he doesn’t mention Scorned once in it. Hey, why not call us on our hotline? (724)2GO-GO69 or (724) 246-4669!

Director of Chopping Mall, Gila, The Lost Empire and more. Indie film icon, Jim Wynorski joins us LIVE on The Dorkening. This episode is sponsored by Deadly Grounds Coffee "Its good to get a little Deadly" https://deadlygroundscoffee.comA 25-year veteran in the Hollywood exploitation field, writer/producer/director Jim Wynorski is responsible for over 150 varied motion pictures in a myriad of genres. Leaving behind a successful commercial business in New York, Wynorski relocated to California in 1980 and soon found himself on the doorstep of his childhood idol, B-film king Roger Corman. "The rest was destiny," recounts Wynorski, who soon found himself hired by the renowned movie mogul to cut "coming attractions" for all of the company's new action and horror films. "It was like grasshopper learning from the kung-fu master," says Wynorski, who claims his six-months internship with Corman taught him more than four years at film school."It wasn't long after that Corman offered me the first of many writing/directing assignments. Some distributor wanted a flick about a killer in a shopping mall," recalls Wynorski, "and Roger trusted me enough to say 'come up with something good, and you can direct it." Well, a couple days later, the director walked in with the first treatment to a film called Chopping Mall (1986), and the rest was history. From then on, Jim Wynorski turned out an average of three to five films a year as a director, and even more as a producer/writer. Throughout the 1980s came a steady stream of wild exploitation titles like Big Bad Mama II (1987) with Angie Dickinson, Not of This Earth (1988) with Traci Lords and The Return of Swamp Thing (1989) with Heather Locklear. On into the 1990s, Wynorski continued to climb to the top of the B-Film mountain with flicks like Hard Bounty (1995) starring Kelly LeBrock, Point of Seduction: Body Chemistry III (1994) & Body Chemistry 4: Full Exposure (1995) with Shannon Tweed and Morgan Fairchild and Munchie (1992), which featured the first film appearance of the then-unknown 12-year-old child actress Jennifer Love Hewitt. As the years peeled by and tastes changed, Jim Wynorski kept hip by innovating new special effects techniques that landed the director no less than seven world premieres on the Sci-Fi Channel. His credits there include films like Gargoyle (2004), The Curse of the Komodo (2004), Project Viper and Cry of the Winged Serpent (2007).As for the future, the 59-year-old Wynorski feels the audience for alternative cinema made away from the studio system will continue to grow thanks to new advances in Internet and Cable technologies. In fact, he is in post-production on another thriller, Vampire in Vegas (2009). "And you can bet I'll be there," he offers with a big smile, "with some really fun stuff." Jim has a huge following in the MidWest and is beloved in Franklin, Indiana, Home of The B Movie Celebration.Find out more at https://wicked-horror-show.pinecast.coSend us your feedback online: https://pinecast.com/feedback/wicked-horror-show/f8899379-83c4-4efb-83cd-3919395c8726
As huge supporters of physical media (just look at our insane collections for proof), we here at GBW are doing a series of episodes that spotlight some of the boutique labels that are releasing the kinds of films we love to purchase, watch, and talk about. This time out we're talking Blue Underground. Headed by filmmaker William Lustig (Maniac, Vigilante), BU has been bringing us quality releases since 2003 and we've decided to each make top five lists of what we consider to be the essential titles you'll want to own. We've got Australian weirdness, mannequin love, zombies and even some mondo! But first we talk about what we've been watching including Meryl Streep, a teen focused movie with a terrible title, Shannon Tweed, Patchwork, and much more! Thanks for listening! Be sure to head to iTunes to subscribe and drop us a five star rating/review - every little bit helps! Links to all our web stuff at www.gbwpodcast.com
