All that, plus being killed off as Molly's mom on Insecure (she forgot!), working with Uta Hagen and the Negro Ensemble Company, and what she learned from Joe Pantoliano on the set of The Fugitive. This week, look, we know you don't care, but we didn't kill our wife, okay?? We're heading out on the run with a hairy Harrison in search of the one-armed man, as we have a hell of a time with one the great dad thrillers of the 90s. It's 1993's The Fugitive, directed by Andrew Davis, and starring Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Sela Ward, Joe Pantoliano, Jeroen Krabbé, Daniel Roebuck, L. Scott Caldwell, Tom Wood, Andreas Katsulas, Julianne Moore and Jane Lynch. Both a perpetual chase action movie as well as a taut conspiracy thriller, the movie is boosted enormously by a lineup of U.S. Marshals in dogged pursuit of our hero that all get to be funny and likeable without ever really feeling like the villains -- such a likeable bunch in fact that they'd all come back for a Ford-less sequel in 1998, four years after Tommy Lee Jones won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Plus: Hayley's hooked on puzzles, and Justin's landed square in the middle of a red hot pro wrestling feud! If you'd like to watch the movie before listening to our conversation, The Fugitive is currently streaming on Crave and Starz in Canada at the time of publication. Other works discussed on this episode include Austin Powers in Goldmember, The Love Guru, Monday Night Raw, The Bikeriders, Azrael: Angel of Death, No One Will Save You, Mission: Impossible, Mission: Impossible 2, The Town, Lost, The Late Shift, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Lupin the Third, John Wick, Air Force One, The Departed, The Sixth Sense, Emilia Perez, The Incredible Hulk, The Living Daylights, Soldier of Orange, The Fourth Man, Minority Report, Die Hard, U.S. Marshals, The Matrix, The Simpsons, and Wrongfully Accused, among others. We'll be back next week as we continue to barrel toward January's canon consideration of Ocean's Eleven (2001) at the end of the month, and having already checked in with Bernie Mac to kick off the new year, it's time to recruit the leader of the gang in one of his first leading man movie star roles, the very first film ever released by DreamWorks Pictures: 1997's The Peacemaker, with George Clooney and Nicole Kidman which is sadly not available to stream north of the border currently but can be rented on Cineplex and YouTube. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

This is a big one. Michael Parkhurst's list of accomplishments is a long one - it's one that spans an excellent MLS career (New England Revolution, Columbus Crew, Atlanta United), includes time spent playing in Europe in Denmark's top flight (FC Nordsjaelland) and highlighted by a strong stint with the U.S. Men's National Team. But today, he joins us as a newly announced owner for USL Rhode Island and of course, as a supporter of our mini-pitch project in Central Falls, Rhode Island. We'll discuss all sorts of good stuff, including the lead up to his extensive professional career, which saw Parkhurst grow up playing in Rhode Island prior to leaving for Bradenton, FL for his high school years and eventually going on to play collegiately for Wake Forest University. Throughout the years, he has volunteered for Project GOAL and was even twice-named MLS Humanitarian of the Year.  As you know may remember, participation in Project GOAL is a common theme of our Rhode Island mini-pitch project, as other mentors of the program include Jeff Larentowicz, currently of Atlanta United and formerly of the New England Revolution and Brown University, Providence College star Julian Gressel, currently of D.C. United, plus other current New England Revolution mainstay, Scott Caldwell and hopefully soon, newcomer, Damian Rivera. As we connect with these players, you'll see that it really brings a project like this full circle and we are SUPER pumped about it.

“So let me ask you, what is the inner work that you need to do? What is it in your own basement, in your own underground, that needs to be brought up, lifted up, brought into the light to be healed?” In this first service after the 2020 election, Rev. Karen Lindvig speaks to the metaphor of Foundational strength.   Even while the outcome is still disputed, and the way forward isn’t yet clear, we can look  to strengthening our foundations through core Unity principles. Later this afternoon is a lovely blessing ritual at the new building construciton site near Denny Park, including a water ritual from Umoja. Learn all about the building project, including a video from the event, here. Our Worship Arts guest is Shaunyce Omar, who was also our guest on the first Sunday after the 2016 election.  Back then, she sang Precious Lord Take My Land, though today she sings Change is Gonna Come. Today, we welcome the New England Revolution's Scott Caldwell to the pod. Scott grew up south of Boston and grew up supporting the Revs while constantly playing soccer with his older siblings. All of his time with the ball paid off, winning a NCAA Championship with Akron before being signed by his hometown squad in the Revs. He has since become a mainstay in the squad and ranks among the team's all-time leaders in appearances. As the youngest of four, Scott was rarely without a practice or person to play with, so when we talked to him about his involvement with Project GOAL and the mini-pitch project, he was all in. As you know by now, participation in Project GOAL is the common theme of this project, as other mentors of the program include Jeff Larentowicz, currently of Atlanta United and formerly of the New England Revolution and Brown University, Providence College star Julian Gressel, currently of D.C. United, Rhode Island native and former New England Revolution stud, Michael Parkhurst, plus other current New England Revolution mainstay, Scott Caldwell and newcomer, Damian Rivera. As we connect with each of these players over the coming weeks, you'll see that it really brings a project like this full circle and we are SUPER pumped about it.

Shonduary continues as Tread Perilously takes a look at the Season Six Private Practice episode "The Next Episode." Dr. Sam Bennett's plan to shoot a reality show pilot at the practice takes a left turn when his mother and her former boss, Raymond, come in for a consult. Sam sees more than he wants -- as do the reality show cameras -- and it leads to him discover Raymond is more than just a friend of the family. Will it destroy the pilot or will Sam learn a valuable life lesson during the production? Also, Brian Benben appears. Erik and Justin debate the spelling of "Shonduary" and Justin extols the virtues of Ladyhawke. Erik's dislike of Brian Benben gets explored. The pair also decide they like Private Practice, so they keep detouring into Star Wars discussions. They also dissect some of the good writing in "The Next Episode" and point out a few of its directorial shortcomings. Justin's incredibly obscure sports joke fails to land, but he also breaks down why Private Practice's cast is hotter than the Grey's Anatomy ensemble. Alfre Woodard, Richard Roundtree, and L. Scott Caldwell prove to be MVPs, of course, and Erik advocates for alternative film cuts. Also, Justin and Erik begin workshopping their "Sexy Palpatine" jokes.

They say that inside every person that there's the internal battle between good versus evil, so it's actually reassuring to meet someone who's prepared to admit that the devil gets to hold sway over them most of the time.. yep, it's the caged devil himself.. Despite the poor performances around all of the DMV's soccer teams, the Filibuster podcast is ready to go the full 90. Adam, Jason, and Ben have to talk about D.C. United's 2-0 defeat at the hands of the New York Red Bulls. We discuss the injury to Steve Birnbaum, the goals by Bradley Wright-Phillips and Alex Muyl, and then go from back to front dissecting the poor play: the defense, midfield, and attack all get a turn. We then welcome on Jake Catanese of The Bent Musket to talk about United's weekend game against the New England Revolution. We talk about their schedule so far, their hot and cold play, and the switch of positions of Lee Nguyen and Juan Agudelo. We also discuss the shape that Jay Heaps is in, Scott Caldwell and their midfield, their defense, Diego Fagundez, all before ending with asking Jake how he would gameplan against the Revs. Give it a listen!

Scott is an entrepreneur who has a passion for introducing new ways of thinking coupled with structure and frameworks to promote growth for non-profit and community minded organizations.  He is a devoted husband and father to, what he terms, “his girls”  Misty (wife), Macey and Marlee.  Scott is a lover of life that tries to make everyday meaningful in his life and the lives of those he comes into contact with.   What you'll hear in this episode: Scott is a home-grown Texan going down an unexpected path. How his passion as an entrepreneur in the business world allows him to help non-profits and community-minded organizations How Scott has already helped raise MILLIONS of dollars for organizations, and how he dreams of going international with his business one day Scott turns to Philippians 4:6-7 for inspiration, especially when he feels the stress and anxiety of running a business. A favorite quote of Scott's is: “The day is over and I'm leaving the office with a tremendous sense of accomplishment. What have I achieved?” How Scott's work gives a great sense of purpose as he touches many lives through the organizations he helps How Scott stumbled upon this business, with each step on the trajectory leading him into work with local governments and non-profits Scott says the best thing about his day is working with people who are passionate for a cause; this gives great meaning to what he does. Of the Seven Mountain culture, Scott focuses primarily on the business mountain. In a nutshell, he helps organizations set up the framework for raising money, being effective, running at an optimal level, and growing their impact. One of Scott's biggest challenges is the trap of people-pleasing, of caring TOO MUCH what others think about him. This has given Satan a stronghold over him at times. Scott realizes that he is totally dependent upon God, and nothing else, being used as a vessel for His service. How Scott has learned not to seek his validation in other people or material things The pivotal moment for Scott was when he shifted in his business from working with local governments to non-profits. Seeing lives touched let him know THIS is the right thing. How Scott has realized that his “ministry” is everywhere and in everything he does What is your biggest strength? “Administration and mercy—these are exactly the gifts I need to do what I do.” What is your biggest weakness inside that strength? “Being impatient with people! Wanting everything to happen NOW and not realizing that it's a process.” What is God stirring up inside of you right now? “In the last 1-2 years in helping others, I've realized that ministry is not limited to the pulpit or to church work. Ministry is in everyday life.” Kung Fu Round Questions: How do you share the gospel in your everyday life? “My goal is for every person I contact to SEE the difference in me and want to know what it is. I want them to know that it's God who makes the difference.” What daily habit do you have that contributes to your solid walk with God? “I have a quiet time every morning. I read the devotional, Jesus Calling; I read scripture, pray, and take time to seek God. When I enter my office every day, I hit my knees and give my day and my business to God.” What meaningful book have you read recently? Presence: Bringing Your Boldest Self to Your Biggest Challenges by Amy Cuddy What resource have you found helpful that you can share with our listeners? “It's not one resource in particular. It's to never stop learning. I have a goal to read two books each month—educational material that helps me grow.” What advice would you give to the “younger” you? “I would speak to myself at age 21 and say, ‘Grow up a little bit, man! Don't seek validation from others, but go to God. He is the ONLY source of true validation'.” What parting advice do you have for our listeners? “Wake up every day and LIVE it. Have a passion for what you do. If you can't, then figure it out, find it, and start LIVING it!” Resources: www.caldwellbusinessgroup.com Find Scott on Twitter, Facebook, and Linked In as Caldwell Business Group. www.amazon.com :  Presence: Bringing Your Boldest Self to Your Biggest Challenges by Amy Cuddy Jesus Calling by Sarah Young
