This week, look, we know you don't care, but we didn't kill our wife, okay?? We're heading out on the run with a hairy Harrison in search of the one-armed man, as we have a hell of a time with one the great dad thrillers of the 90s. It's 1993's The Fugitive, directed by Andrew Davis, and starring Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Sela Ward, Joe Pantoliano, Jeroen Krabbé, Daniel Roebuck, L. Scott Caldwell, Tom Wood, Andreas Katsulas, Julianne Moore and Jane Lynch. Both a perpetual chase action movie as well as a taut conspiracy thriller, the movie is boosted enormously by a lineup of U.S. Marshals in dogged pursuit of our hero that all get to be funny and likeable without ever really feeling like the villains -- such a likeable bunch in fact that they'd all come back for a Ford-less sequel in 1998, four years after Tommy Lee Jones won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Plus: Hayley's hooked on puzzles, and Justin's landed square in the middle of a red hot pro wrestling feud! If you'd like to watch the movie before listening to our conversation, The Fugitive is currently streaming on Crave and Starz in Canada at the time of publication. Other works discussed on this episode include Austin Powers in Goldmember, The Love Guru, Monday Night Raw, The Bikeriders, Azrael: Angel of Death, No One Will Save You, Mission: Impossible, Mission: Impossible 2, The Town, Lost, The Late Shift, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Lupin the Third, John Wick, Air Force One, The Departed, The Sixth Sense, Emilia Perez, The Incredible Hulk, The Living Daylights, Soldier of Orange, The Fourth Man, Minority Report, Die Hard, U.S. Marshals, The Matrix, The Simpsons, and Wrongfully Accused, among others. We'll be back next week as we continue to barrel toward January's canon consideration of Ocean's Eleven (2001) at the end of the month, and having already checked in with Bernie Mac to kick off the new year, it's time to recruit the leader of the gang in one of his first leading man movie star roles, the very first film ever released by DreamWorks Pictures: 1997's The Peacemaker, with George Clooney and Nicole Kidman which is sadly not available to stream north of the border currently but can be rented on Cineplex and YouTube. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

The Juice is loose, baby! Beetlejuice is back decades later with another successful 30(+) years later sequel with much of the same cast, story continuation and themes. It is financially a hit and very successful. But is it enough to get that critical acclaim? We think not, but only just. It is, however, a very fun Beetlejuice film so how can we complain? In this episode we discuss the lack of response to the trump shark image, the movies our high school teachers played in class that had nothing to do with the subject, our fellow Canadian Justin Chatwin, how Samue was totally right about ice, the archetype of "man who puts science above everything", whether those masks on planes are even real, the quintessential childhood Pompei phase, these people who keep doing their job when the world is ending, how our parents wouldn't come for us like DQuaid, the cozy library that sparked the lust for end of the world, the way the ice be creepin, how annoying the astronauts are and SO MUCH MORE!!!

“I was quite set on theater. I was going to go out to Los Angeles for one year -- and that was it. Then I was going to go back to New York and devote myself to the theater. It didn't work out that way.” -- Jan Eliasberg80s TV Ladies "Director Ladies" series continues as Susan and Sharon welcome legendary director Jan Eliasberg. Jan began her television director career in the 1980s with an episode of Cagney & Lacey -- and she went on to be the first female director ever on Miami Vice, Crime Story and 21 Jump Street. She has also directed episodes of Dirty Dancing, L.A. Law, Dawson's Creek, Party of Five, Sisters, Parenthood, Nashville, Supernatural, Bull and NCIS: Los Angeles. Jan recently published her first novel, Hannah's War.In this enlightening conversation, Jan discusses how the American Film Institute (AFI) and “The Original Six” opened up opportunities for her and other female directors; how to navigate directing a network television show for the first time -- and how courage, tenacity and little guile can make all the difference …THE CONVERSATIONHow do you get 10,000 hours of experience when directing requires so much time, money and people: Europe or Yale? What can Shakespeare and Ibsen teach you about directing TV? Ian and David are on the hunt for the perfect thrilling summer blockbuster--and have traveled all the way back to 1993's The Fugitive! In Andrew Davis' Academy Award-nominated adaptation of the 1960s TV show, Harrison Ford stars as Dr. Richard Kimble--a famous surgeon wrongfully accused of killing his wife (Sela Ward). It's Die Hard on the run! Phil and Liam are joined by special guests Dominick Nero and Adam Volerich (hosts of the Eye of the Duck film podcast) for an unyielding “hard-target search” of THE FUGITIVE, a hugely influential movie that contemporized the classic ‘chase thriller' and paved the way for a series of subsequent TV-to-film adaptations, as well as its own spate of imitators (and a direct sequel in 1998). After being wrongly convicted for the murder of his wife, top Chicago surgeon Dr. Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford) escapes during a prison transfer, and attempts to solve the murder while being relentlessly pursued by a team of cops, led by the dogged, indefatigable U.S Marshal Samuel Gerard (Tommy Lee Jones, in a star-making performance that bagged him an Academy Award). On face value, this beloved picture (which was a box-office smash in the summer of 1993) may not appear to have much in common with Die Hard, but its connections are actually many and varied, as the guys expertly illustrate in their ‘Die Hard DNA' section. It's also a surprisingly layered film, filled with prescient socio-economic and socio-political ideas, which gives the guys plenty to discuss as they analyze ‘The Anatomy of an Action Movie' with the kind of surgical precision that Dr. Richard Kimble himself might approve of! There's plenty of love for the film's cast, not just for the two effervescent stars, but also for the likes of Joe Pantoliano, Julianne Moore, Sela Ward, Jane Lynch (yes that Jane Lynch) and Dutch actor Jeroen Krabbe, whose earlier work in Paul Verhoeven's The Fourth Man – a film that directly influenced Die Hard – is also discussed, along with, of all things, Les Miserables! This is the first film on the show that was actually nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, adding an air of prestige to this week's ‘Die Hard Oscars'! Finally, the guys team up - much like a squad of quirky U.S. Marshals - to tackle a challenging edition of the (appropriately named) ‘Double Jeopardy' trivia quiz! Harrison Ford vs Tommy Lee Jones vs Big Pharma! This iconic 90s action movie is so 90s with lots of 90s stuff (*cough* Sela Ward *cough*) happening. That said, is it just your basic white male fantasy about a husband who may or may not have killed his wife a la The Staircase? Tangents include Miles Teller, the truth about hair dye, the probability that Lindsey's dad fucked an alien (SPOILER ALERT: incredibly high odds), and what Tommy Lee must look like under those clothes.

Always two, there are: a Child of Darkness, and a Child of Light. Or something. Things get kind of convoluted in this 1991 made-for-USA-television thriller starring Sela Ward and a very young Josh Lucas. And for a literal "blink and you'll miss it" moment, we bring you the very first appearance of Brenden Fraser on film - years before returning to Portland for "Extraordinary Measures." For literally a second-and-a-half in the background. We've all got to start somewhere.

What is a common denominator between Harlan Marks, Amy Steel, Christopher Walken, Richard Dreyfuss, Sela Ward, and Chris Cooper? We all have been acting students of Harlan's Episode 11 guest, his real-life Kominsky, Bob McAndrew. Bob's teaching draws from a wide range of sources but primarily from the legendary Wynn Handman. A film acting coach, he has worked with directors John Huston, Alan Pakula, and Luc Besson. He's taught internationally - in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, and Buenos Aires. Here is a partial list of actors he's coached or taught - Raul Julia, Christopher Walken, Chris Cooper, Sela Ward, John Stamos, Gloria Reuben, David Paymer, Corbin Bernsen, Tom Selleck, Sam Elliot, and Jon Lindstrom. Harlan can personally attest that his techniques and coaching give actors the tools to explore, let go of tension and build a strong character, all of which allow actors to take risks and feel confident in those risk choices. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/harlan-marks/message
Today we're on the run in 1993 with The Fugitive, directed by Andrew Davis and starring Tommy Lee Jones, Harrison Ford, Sela Ward, and Julianne Moore. The Fugitive tells the story of a man wrongly charged with murdering his wife so when his prison convoy crashes, he escapes looking for the one-armed killer. Unfortunately, the US Marshals are close on his tail and he must find this man before they do. This flick secured Tommy Lee Jones the Oscar for supporting actor and was nominated for a number of other awards as well as making $368 million from the initial $44 million budget. But, does it hold up? Listen in as Jon, Colin, and Brent debate equal opportunity for assassins as we deliberate whether this flick has been cleared of all charges or if it should go back on the run.

Welcome to the world of disco, drugs, and glamour! We're talking the apparent box office bomb, 54 which has become one of my comfort films. Me and Mikey couldn't wait to talk about the vibe of this production and finally we have the Director's Cut that left out so many plot points from the 1998 version. Our main talking points are the MUSIC, of course the 70s fashion, and why the movie studios sometimes mess everything up.Off but also on topic rants include: real stories from Studio 54, drag queen staple lip synch songs, and we spend A LOT of time talking how Ryan Phillippe had a chokehold on our teenage dreams.--- Get BONUS episode recaps on Freaks and Geeks Season 1 and currently My So Called Life and to support the show, join us on PATREON! www.patreon.com/fashiongrungeGIVE US A 5 STAR RATING & SUBSCRIBE!Hosts: Lauren @lauren_melanie & Mikey @agentmikey007 Music by Den-Mate @imdenmateFollow Fashion Grunge Podcast on Instagram @fashiongrungepod and fashiongrunge.com

I have such a good fun show for you today with the fabulous Sass Jordan. This episode is really what I hoped all episodes would be like, a fun and casual conversation about life in the arts. It helped that I have known and worked with Sass for many years so I was comfortable. With others, I’m still learning how to build that rapport so it becomes a conversation and less of a question and answer interview. Anyways for those who do not know Sass Jordan, she is Canada’s Queen of Rock. In her 30 years in the spotlight, she has gotten to work with many of her influences including Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Santana, Joe Cocker, Styx, Rodger Hodgson, and countless others. She has won various awards, including Juno and Billboard, and has sold over a million records world-wide. She also had a short-lived acting career playing Janis Joplin in the off-Broadway hit, Love Janis and as a featured character in the television series Sisters. She tells a hilarious story of how she auditioned for a role on a Die Hard movie and shocked everyone on the set by walking out because she didn’t want to die on screen. And she was one of the judges on Canadian Idol.

Today's Guest: Billy Campbell, actor, The Rocketeer, "Once and Again," Meteor Order 'The Rocketeer' starring Billy Campbell and Jennifer Connelly, available from Amazon.com by clicking on the DVD cover above! No movie I can recommend captures the pure summertime wonderment of films better than The Rocketeer. It’s got action, adventure, a man with a jetpack strapped to his back and the spectacular Jennifer Connelly as Betty Page. I can watch The Rocketeer a hundred times and never get tired of it. Which brings us to today’s guest, Billy Campbell. There are two actors that Mr. Media believes cannot work enough and Billy Campbell is one of them. (Bruce Campbell—no relation—is the other.) He recently appeared opposite Ricky Gervais in Ghost Town—my 12-year-old daughter's favorite DVD of the moment. And, of course, he co-starred for too few seasons in the ABC drama, "Once and Again." Now Campbell is starring in NBC's new miniseries "Meteor" as Jack Crowe, a Los Angeles police officer who tries to protect his family fromhis crazy and corrupt ex-partner—as well as from those darn meteors falling from the sky. Jason Alexander—playing a far more serious person than he ever did as George Costanza on “Seinfeld”—introduces the advancing catastrophe that begins the NBC mini-series. “Meteor” begins on Sunday, July 12 from 9-11 p.m. and concludes next Sunday, July 19. On the final (Some of the) Worst of 2016 episode, the guys tackle the total who-was-asking-for-this sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence! Why does the CGI look so terrible in this major blockbuster? Why did we need to squeeze back in the characters played by Vivica A. Fox and Judd Hirsch? And are we really aping Aliens this much? PLUS: This film officially dethrones Super Mario Bros. for having the absolute most audacious sequel setup in film history! Independence Day: Resurgence stars Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth, Jessie T. Usher, Bill Pullman, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward, William Fichtner, Judd Hirsch, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Brent Spiner; directed by Roland Emmerich.
Sela Ward reads an essay about a beautiful relationship...or a friendship? Or a wanna-be friendship?

At last! Pax and Michael discuss one of the greatest Westerns of all time. Or at least, certainly one of their very favorites. Grab your feather cape and gather 'round the campfire as we talk about the comedy classic starring Tom Berenger, GW Bailey, Marilu Henner, Sela Ward, Andy Griffith, and Carson from Downton Abbey. Also up for discussion are the comic book series Six-Gun Gorilla, Trailblazer, and The Sixth Gun, the role-playing game Deadlands (which Michael can't remember the name of), Gary Cooper in 1929's The Virginian, Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson's Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights, and the pulp magazine adventures of Senorita Scorpion.
Happy Birthday America! In the spirit of the Fourth of July weekend, we are diving head first into the proverbial puke pile that is Independence Day: Resurgence. Some of the questions we try answer are how can a movie franchise go from having the best movie president (Bill Pulman) to having the absolute worst movie president (Sela Ward). Also, did the aliens finally renew their subscription to Norton Anti Virus or will pornography laced with computer viruses be the hero for earth once again. We'll find out today!! Movie News! Star Trek's Anton Yelchin passes away at 27 in freak auto accident. Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) Movie makes zero sense Supposedly peaceful society without war builds big intergalactic weapons of war Where was the resistance sphere alien 20 years ago during the first alien attack? Missing memorable characters ID4's major draw was an ensemble cast of memorable characters. Resurgence features majority of the characters phoning in performances for 2 hours. Vivica A. Fox was literally brought back to die. CGI Overload CGI is reminiscent of the Sci Fi Channel Original Movies produced by The Asylum. ID4 had a slow burn approach to the effects, no alien explosions until 40 mins in. Resurgence kicks it off right off the bat and leaves the audience feeling nothing. Worst Movie President.....EVER!! Sela Ward quite literally is the dumbest president ever. She ignores the advice from the one guy who destroyed the aliens the first time around and shoots a peaceful alien ship. Delays investigating the crashed ship instead to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the first alien attack. No monument to Russell Case (Randy Quaid) Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK!?! Ending is terrible Major explosion of the alien queen's ship is cut out. We get a shot of Jeff Goldblum instead.....Seriously, Fuck you Roland Emmerich. You had one job and that was to show explosions and you can't even do that right. President Whitmore (Bill Pullman) sacrifices himself for nothing as the queen survives the explosion of her ship. Ending promises the movie that we should have had. Why couldn't Independence Day: Resurgence be about taking the fight to the alien homeworld? Would have been much more interesting than this pile of garbage. Subscribe / Rate / Review Subscribe today to never miss an episode. To download the show on iTunes please click on this link On today's show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy we opened with the return of LA Councilwoman Jan Perry who continued to impress us with her political moves to socially engineer Los Angeles to her liking. As expected she has done an arguably less than stellar job removing the businesses that have harmed her constituents but is now apparently grandstanding on an issue just to get publicity for herself and help her as she moves forward in her quest for higher public offices. Nothing is as inspiring as someone who is using the media to move up the government food chain. If only politicians would use their ambition and connections in order to take the personal risk themselves which is necessary to build thriving businesses in their own communities rather than game the system to make it harder for legitimate businesses who have figured out a way to prosper in challenging environemts.
