The eight-episode series, based on the gripping book by Rebecca Godfrey, premiered on Hulu on April 17, 2024. Editors - Kevin D. Ross ACE, Eric Litman, Adam Pearson and Daniel Williams The ONE PIECE editing team knew full well, going into this live-action adaptation of the beloved manga series, that they had a huge challenge on their hands. Expectations were high and previous attempts to adapt other manga series had left those fanbases disappointed, to say the least. Fortunately, they had a talented crew around the globe, plus ample time and resources from Netflix to finally crack the code of making a hit series that would satisfy the die-hard manga fandom. ONE PIECE follows the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates as they explore the dangerous oceans, lands, and beyond in search of the "One Piece", a fabled treasure that will make their captain, Monkey D. Luffy, "King of the Pirates". But the Marines are on their ship's tail, and they are not the only crew searching for the One Piece. Armed with skills and an unbreakable friendship, the Straw Hats are ready for the journey and even more ready to fight for their dreams together. Adapted from the legendary manga series from author Eiichiro Oda, ONE PIECE was developed as a live action series for Netflix by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda under the watchful eye of Oda. KEVIN D. ROSS, ACE Raised in the heartland of America, Kevin Ross grew up a typical bored youth in the small town of Farmington, Missouri. A product of a Norman Rockwell-like family with loving parents and four younger siblings, Ross attended the University of Missouri School of Journalism. After graduating, he headed for the lights and lure of Hollywood. He earned his MFA from the USC School of Cinema-Television and has been happily working in the film industry ever since. Aside from ONE PIECE, Kevin has edited such shows as HALT AND CATCH FIRE (2014-16), STRANGER THINGS - S1/2 and YELLOWJACKETS (2021-23). ERIC LITMAN Pennsylvania native Eric Litman is known for his work on FINAL DESTINATION 5 (2011), AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013) and STAR TREK: PICARD (2023). ADAM PEARSON Actor-turned-editor Adam has assisted on shows such as DOPESICK (2021) and THE ROOKIE (2021). In addition to ONE PIECE, his work as an editor can be seen in BEVERLY HILLS PAWN (2014) and UFOs: THE LOST EVIDENCE (2017). DANIEL WILLIAMS In addition to working alongside Kevin Ross on ONE PIECE (2023) and YELLOWJACKETS (2023), Daniel has also assisted on THE X-FILES (2018) and SACRED LIES (2018-20). Sydney native Ryan Kwanten learned his craft while working on the popular Australian TV series Home and Away, racking up 223 episodes. He gained further notice on Summerland but broke through to stardom on the red-hot HBO series True Blood. He’s seldom idle for long, having costarred in such recent series as The Oath and Sacred Lies, and while he’s now a California resident he still commutes for work. He can currently be seen with fellow Aussie Kodi Smit-McPhee in the futuristic 2067 on Amazon Prime and other streaming services. Leonard and Jessie found Ryan to be a thoughtful actor with an admirable work ethic and an interesting career to look back on.

Today we are so lucky to have the amazingly talented showrunner for the Facebook Watch show Sacred Lies, Raelle Tucker. Raelle is also a playwright and has written for such TV shows as Supernatural, Jessica Jones, and True Blood. The movie she has chosen to discuss today is Kill Bill (both 1 and 2). Raelle and April have a long conversation about loving this film (and other films of its ilk) despite the problematic elements that went on behind the scenes. Raelle also talks about working with the wonderful Juliette Lewis. And she details how she gets her projects off the ground. You can watch Sacred Lies right this very minute! And if you haven’t seen Kill Bill…what are you doing? With April Wolfe and Raelle Tucker.
Binge watched “Sacred Lies” on FaceBook Watch last night. So far, very impressed with the storylines and production on the two shows I've seen, “Lime Town and Sacred Lies” acting is above what is seen in most regular shows. Great soundtracks in both, too! Scotty has over 100 onscreen credits, including recurring characters on Lost, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Southland, Queens Supreme, and PBS' Original Series Mercy Street. Just a bit of what we cover in this episode with Scotty: Her experience and awareness of the Civil Rights Movement in Chicago Working on the play A Raisin in the Sun several times The impact of watching very strong women on film The personal rejection she experienced being fired and the breakdown she had What she took from studying with Uta Hagen, and the one item she uses consistently Scotty and I ended up talking mostly about her early years, leading up to her first film role, and it's such a fascinating journey, filled with excitement, doubt, challenges, and rewards. Writer/producer Raelle Tucker (True Blood, Jessica Jones, Sacred Lies) and director Jeremy Podeswa (Game of Thrones, The Handmaid’s Tale, Six Feet Under, American Horror Story) discuss how TV has changed – and what they’ve learnt within it. While in Australia, Raelle and Jeremy, who met making an episode of True Blood together, talk about balancing the roles of a writer and director and an issue on set they had to navigate together. Jeremy reveals the role a director plays even in large established series such as Game of Thrones (with the season 7 finale an example). And Raelle also discusses how creating the Facebook Watch series Sacred Lies differed from making a traditional series – especially when it came to measuring its success. Popcorn Talk Network, the online broadcast network that features movie discussion, news, interviews and commentary proudly presents “I Could Never Be.” Raelle Tucker is a Emmy-nominated Hollywood showrunner, producer, and writer. She is currently the executive producer and showrunner for Sacred Lies, on Facebook Watch. She also played significant roles in Netflix's Jessica Jones as well as HBO's True Blood. For someone responsible for so much content on television, it may come as a shock to hear Tucker actually grew up without a television in Spain. But that wasn't a detriment, as it forced her to use her creativity to come up with amazing stories. At 17, she moved in LA to start her Hollywood career, but it wasn't glamorous, as she had to work random jobs to pay the rent. From waiting tables to exotic dancing, she found enough inspiration for countless stories and her career has taken off ever since.
