Send us a textHi everybody and welcome to this week's episode of Attendance Bias. I am your host, Brian Weinstein. While we've spent a good amount of time on Attendance Bias discussing the fall 1995 tour, there was a short southeast swing after the Quadrophenia Halloween show that we've never touched on, and that I have to admit, I don't think I've ever listened to. After Halloween in Chicago, the band took an 8-day break and then played three nights in Atlanta before 4 consecutive nights traveling and playing shows in the state of Florida. Today's guest, Matthew Wheelwright is here to tell about one of those shows: November 14, 1995 at the University of Central Florida Arena in Orlando.Matthew is an ideal guest to tell us about this outstanding show from fall 95: he's seen a ton of shows since 1990, he is a knowledgeable fan who can tell about the show both in real time and in context of Phish history, and is just as excited to talk about the show today in 2024 as he was 19 years ago. Not only does the audience recording from this show sound pristine, but there's plenty to highlight: a psychedelic version of “Free,” a fully acoustic “I'm Blue, I'm Lonesome,” and the best known part of this show: an insane sequence the kicks off with “Stash” and goes in and out of several segments before closing with “You Enjoy Myself.” But all that just scratches the surface. Let's join Matthew to talk about dynamics, clean cut college kids, and why you should thank a taper today, as we discuss Phish's show from November 14, 1995 at The UCF Arena in Orlando.
"Good accountants focus on tasks, but great ones focus on outcomes." Accounting Influencerswith Rob BrownWealthAbility founder and veteran CPA Tom Wheelwright dives into the essential strategies for client-centric service and relationship-building in accounting. Hosted by Rob Brown, this episode explores how accountants can elevate their client relationships, optimize billing practices, and bring joy back into their work.Full Show Notes Here | More Accounting Influencers with Rob Brown hereIn an industry where billing by the hour is typical, Wheelwright advocates for a shift to flat, value-based pricing. This, he explains, allows accountants to focus on delivering value without clients worrying about the ticking clock."When clients know upfront what they'll pay, it removes financial surprises and puts the focus on service, not cost," Wheelwright says. "Our clients need to know we're there to solve their challenges without worrying about extra charges."

In this week's episode of The Mind Tools L&D Podcast, Ross Garner and Owen Ferguson are joined by Dr Anna Barnett, from our own in-house Insights team, to discuss the findings of our latest report: ‘Building Better Managers'. John Wheelwright leads an Exodus of his flock from Lincolnshire to the Massachusetts Bay Colony, only to then condemn the colony and accuse their clergy of being Anti-Antichrists. The Antinomian crisis in the Massachusetts Bay Colony is escalating, threatening to tear it apart just as its leaders perceive a military threat from the Pequots. Anne Hutchinson has been teaching an extreme version of the "covenant of grace" in her after-church discussion group, which has swelled to eighty people or more, including some of the leading men of Boston. Her ideas attack the authority of the conventional Puritan clergy of the Bay. She accuses all but two of them, John Cotton and her brother-in-law, John Wheelwright, of preaching a "covenant of works," fighting words in those days. Needing to end the division, John Winthrop tries diplomacy and reconciliation, but neither Hutchinson nor her opponents show any inclination to compromise. After more than a year of theological debate, the General Court of Massachusetts banishes Wheelwright and brings Hutchinson to trial. She runs rings around them. How has the world's perception of Eve affected women throughout history and what is the cost of misunderstanding her choice in the garden? Can the restored gospel help us make sense of Eve's choice? Could adopting Eve's perspective of mortality bring increased joy into our own lives? Melinda Wheelwright Brown seeks to address these questions and more on this week's episode of “All In.” “…it isn't a story about sin. The transgression involved is very different. It's not your typical sin by any means. Wheelwright discusses his latest novel, The Door-Man; a multigenerational story of interwoven families who share a deep ancestral wound. A mix of historical fact and fiction, The Door-Man is based on the events at the doomed mountain town of Gilboa, New York, and the discovery of an extraordinary fossil during construction of an upstate reservoir for New York City's water supply system in 1917 that almost saved it from destruction. The novel traces the consequences of this discovery across three generations of the flooded town, the patronized woman who made the fossil identification, and the violence that occurred in the clash of nature and the city. Grow My Accounting Practice | Tips for Accountants & Bookkeepers to Grow Their Business
Show Summary The government will pay you to invest in their list of priorities, such as jobs, energy, food, technology, and the like, as long as you do it the way the government wants you to. It's a win-win for the government, business owners, and society. We all use the tax incentives, but according to Tom, we don't understand that the biggest tax incentives are for investors and business owners. They are not for little things we do for ourselves or other people. Tom shares the seven investments the government will pay the business owners for and how to invest in these in this episode. Up to this point, it has been the rich who have taken advantage of these because they have good tax professionals. In order to leverage these things, you have to get good advisors. Accountants, bookkeepers, and financial coaches can start with the books The Win-Win Wealth Strategy and Tax-Free Wealth to better position themselves so they can advise their clients about the tax incentives in businesses. The more wealth you build, the less tax you pay. WHEELWRIGHT BRINGS A SOUTHWESTERN SOUND OF POP AND GRUNGE FROM THE SPRAWLING DESERT CITY OF PHOENIX, AZ. NONE OF HIS SONGS ARE IDEALISTIC. NO LIGHT WITHOUT DARKNESS, NO LAUGHTER WITHOUT AT LEAST SOME SUFFERING, NO THOUGHTFULNESS WITHOUT SOME RECKLESSNESS. WHEELWRIGHTS MUSIC CONTRASTS BETWEEN WORLDS OF WANDERING EXISTENTIALISM (Esthastencalizum) THE STRIFE OF MODERN RELATIONSHIPS, AND THE SHREDS OF HOPE THAT CAN BE FOUND IN DARKEST AND MOST BROKEN PLACES OF OURSELVES. SONGS OF ACCEPTANCE, HARD LUCK, AND LOVE. Basis of THE IDEA THAT WE ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL AND FLAWED. HIS SONGS ARE SELF ADMITTING AND ALLOW LISTENERS TO MEET HIM WHERE THEY TRUTHFULLY ARE. IT'S BRASH AND IT'S HONEST. IN HIS WORDS, “EVERYBODY HAS THINGS ABOUT THEMSELVES THAT THEY DON'T LIKE, THEY HAVE THINGS THAT THEY WOULD CHANGE ABOUT THEMSELVES, BUT THEY ALSO HAVE SPIRITS, AND HOPES, AND DREAMS AND LIGHT INSIDE OF THEM DESPITE THE DARKNESS THAT SEEMS TO HANG OVER US AS WE MARCH INTO THE UNCERTAINTY OF WHAT'S NEXT.”
Eveli Sabatie... this podcast is one of my favorites that I've done in the last 5 years. She's just a unique human being that has a story like no other so strap in and enjoy this one. It's a rollercoaster ride in a way. You're talking about this individual that was born in Algeria, grew up in Morocco, goes to Paris, has a moment where she knows she needs to come to America and she ends up in Hopi working with Charles Loloma. She lived at the Pueblo for 3 years and becomes this amazing silversmith/jewelry artist whose work is now in major museums. In fact, she had an amazing show several years ago at the Wheelwright Museum in Santa Fe. She hasn't made jewelry for 20 years, but her legacy of over 40 years of master silver work with these incredible, intricate pieces are still there for viewing.Eveli has a book coming out and that's the main reason we had her on the podcast, but really, I wanted to get deep into how she became this amazing silversmith and of course, working and having a relationship with Charles Loloma for three years is just icing on the cake. So she's a very important artist and a wonderful, sweet human being and I think it comes out in this podcast.I believe this is one of those that you really should be watching on YouTube vs. listening to because she is so animated and it adds a great deal to the experience. That's what this is really. It's an experience. It's the reason that I do this podcast. Eveli Sabatie on episode 206 of the Art Dealer Diaries Podcast.

A self-directed individual retirement account (SDIRA) is a type of individual retirement account (IRA) that can hold investments that a typical IRA cannot, such as precious metals, commodities, and real estate. Today's guests debate the pros and cons of a self-directed IRA and who should invest in such a vehicle. John Bowens, Sr. Retail Sales Manager and National Educator for Equity Trust Company says, “The first mistake investors make is trusting a 3rd party.” A custodian isn't going to do its due diligence to ensure it's a safe and sound asset. The investor in a self-directed IRA acts as their own financial planner. Tom Wheelwright, Rich Dad Advisor on Taxes says, “You have a lot more freedom, but it also brings a lot more responsibility with it.” Wheelwright goes on to explain from a tax position, the benefits and downsides of an IRA. Hosts Robert and Kim Kiyosaki and guests John Bowens, Jeff Desich, and Tom Wheelwright discuss the pros and cons of a self-directed IRA, and how to avoid the biggest mistakes people make with IRAs. Tom is a regular commentator and contributor to publications such as Forbes, The Huffington Post, ABC News, and more. He's also trusted as the personal accountant and business partner of Robert Kiyosaki who we know as the author of ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad.' Tom wants to bring a new level of consciousness to the average person and to enlighten everyone on how tax benefits are incentives and how tax law can be used as a roadmap to wealth. The tax incentives that the government incentives us to use are not just for the .01%--they are for all of us to use to have a tax strategy for building wealth and it's Tom Wheelwright's mission to break this down in easily digestible information. Tom created the WealthAbility System, authored the bestselling book Tax Free Wealth -- which is #1 on Amazon in the Tax Law category a decade after it was first published – and has another groundbreaking book called The Win-win Wealth Strategy: 7 Investments the Government will Pay You to Make that's launching this July, 2022. With this new book, Tom transforms the way you think about building wealth and challenges the paradigm that tax incentives are immoral loopholes. You'll learn: How to tax-effectively invest in business, technology, energy, real estate, insurance, agriculture, and retirement accounts How to use tax incentives to help pay for your next car, house, or tuition bill Why “the rich” are not “a drain on society” and, more importantly, how to become one of them An indispensable and startlingly insightful exploration of straightforward investing strategies, The Win-Win Wealth Strategy improves your confidence in tax-effective investing, so you make better decisions with your money and supercharge your family's generational wealth while creating jobs, developing technology and improving access to food, energy and housing.
