"I want to show my son that I am a strong woman and part of that is being physically strong." There is a lot of talk when it comes to achieving the “perfect” balance as a woman and a mother (or soon-to-be) and sometimes, fulfilling the healthful lifestyle we desire may come with some questions. Can we really exercise in a way that NOURISHES us rather than pushing and forcing?Enter Laura Varney. Laura is a Pre/Postnatal Fitness Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer, and Founder of The Baby Body. She is the “Jill” of all trades when it comes to fitness. Her vigorous resume includes strength and functional training, pre/postnatal training, HIIT, and power vinyasa yoga. Yet her path to fitness wasn't necessarily all it “worked out” to be. In her past, Laura had dabbled in NPC bikini physique competitions and realized how dangerous and toxic it was to follow such a restrictive diet and exercise regimen. The competitive environment left Laura feeling depleted and exhausted and her mind filled with confusion. The lack of freedom, the sense of limitation, and the struggle of feeling safe in the fitness world inspired Laura to create a more empathetic approach to wellness - especially for those entering motherhood. We talk about all things wellness and fitness, and you're going to walk away from this conversation feeling more empowered about choosing a workout that not only FEELS good but is EFFECTIVE. In our chat, we discuss: Speaking out on women's health and wellness and questioning what's always beenBalancing working out and running a business as a mom Why she created the Baby Body: a 35-week prenatal exercise program designed to keep women strong throughout all stages of pregnancy, during labor, and while being a parentHow to create an exercise program that works for you (think feminine energy and empathy)How to prevent and repair diastasis recti through the Baby Body Belly Breathing TechniqueWhat fitness means to her (it's not what you think)Why you don't have to have it all perfect at first before launching a business Why tweaking as you go is just as effective (and more authentic) than launching “perfectly” The importance of delegation so you can pour your creativity and talents into what your business truly needs Connect with Laura:INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/misslauravarney/THE BABY BODY: http://try.thebaby-body.com/free-trial/Connect with BRIANNE: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/briehogan/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/briannehoganwriterVisit Brianne's website: https://www.briannehogan.caRead my newsletter NOT RELATED TO HULK HOGAN: https://briannehogan.substack.com/Buy Brianne's books: http://briannehogan.ca/books Support the showJoin the DO YOU community:Watch on YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLsiPNsr0AP0VzbUhxfwrUQFacebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/527426815332490Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/doyoupod

I'm doing a little freestyle in this episode as I catch you up on what's been going on in my world lately, mainly rashes and anxiety and creating a new newsletter over at Substack. Basically, here's the DL on what goes on in this quick and dirty episode. I talk about:Calling 911 over rashes only to find out that stress, not allergies, were causing them. My patterning and old trauma that resulted into me having these weird rashes. How creating and pushing through and making stuff happen has been my balm to life's stresses -- sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes it just suppresses things (hence, the rashes). My old blog posts from the start of my freelance writing career, including one about pooping. Why I think it's always best to just create the thing rather than get it perfect at the beginning. The branding can wait! Just create! (this is from a recovering perfectionist)Why starting the thing you want to start is always better than waiting for it to make sense. Create your thing! We want to see it! Hulk Hogan's super stardom -- I mean, the dude was huge in the '80s! Why you should do the thing you want to do -- especially if it feels GOOD!What you can expect from my newsletter Not Related to Hulk Hogan and how excited I am to share it with you. Are you obsessed with interior design? Who isn't, right?! This week's guest, Emily Smith, a holistic and conscious interior designer, is going to blow your mind when it comes to how energy and colour (or color!) can affect the ambiance and flow of your home. Emily's work is centred around the concept of home, on a physical, emotional, spiritual and mental level. Through her offerings, including her spiritual and energetic gifts, she helps guide her clients back to their natural state of peace, joy, connection from within as well as helps them align to their space. Emily's journey, including her career change, stems from her own spiritual awakening -- she definitely knows how crucial it is to find alignment first before we go to seek it from outside of ourselves. In addition to EFT, she also works a lot with colour, including colour mirrors, and the reading she gives Brianne left her shook! In this episode, we discuss: Why home isn't just a place - it's a feeling - and it all starts with you, on the inside. How Emily shifted out of the 9-5 paradigm to create a career that suits her unique gifts. How energy is, literally, everything. Her spiritual awakening and how she deals with the ongoing purges that result from one. What it means to shed layers from our ego. How colour therapy can both heal us while also helping us get back in tune with our authentic truth.
