UiPath has had a long strange trip to IPO. How so you ask? Well, the company was started in 2005 but its culture is akin to a frenetic startup. The firm shunned conventions and instead of focusing on a narrow geographic area to prove its product/market fit before it started to grow, it aggressively launched international operations prior to reaching unicorn status. Well prior - like when it had very little revenue. Today, more than 60% of UiPath’s business is outside of the United States, despite its New York headquarters. There’s more. According to recent SEC filings, UiPath’s total revenues grew 81% last year...but its free cash flow is modestly positive. There’s more. The company raised $750M in a Series F in early February at a whopping $35B valuation. Yet the implied back of napkin valuation based on the number of shares outstanding after the offering multiplied by the proposed maximum offering price per share, yields a valuation of just under $26B. And there’s even more to this crazy story. #BreakingAnalysis #theCUBE #UIPath

UiPath’s recent $750M raise at a $35B valuation underscores investor enthusiasm for robotic process automation. And why not? The pandemic has fueled a surge in automation as organizations re-tool their operations and prepare for a post-COVID environment. But reasonable people are asking - is this market getting overheated.
Dr. Lissy Hu is the CEO and Founder of CarePort, where she works with leading health systems, payers, and accountable care organizations to optimize post-acute care outcomes. Dr. Hu brings over 15 years of experience working in the healthcare technology space. In 2012, she founded CarePort to provide care coordination software solutions to manage patient transitions across the continuum. CarePort's end-to-end platform bridges acute and post-acute EHRs — providing visibility for providers, payers, and ACOs into the care that patients receive across care settings. Dr. Hu earned her Doctor of Medicine from Harvard Medical School. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A. in pre-medical studies and sociology from Columbia University. IN THIS EPISODE: Before creating Careport, a web-based healthcare software startup, Dr. Hu observed that “Consumers needing to reserve a restaurant could read 300 reviews prior to making their decision but could find no information before choosing a post-hospitalization facility for a loved one.” In this episode, host Denise Silber, interviews Dr. Hu, Harvard MD MBA, whose startup pitch won an HBS student venture competition and put her on the path of launching a highly successful healthcare service company that was acquired for $1.35B in 2020. Dr. Hu’s experience running a beta test, raising funds, and developing a world-class team, all for the first time, apply to any industry, although it’s even more impressive that she did all this in healthcare!

Happy Monday everyone, thanks for tuning into this week's update. Be sure to subscribe to our podcast on your preferred platformIn this episode, we dive into Ant Group, the highest valued fintech company in the world. Ant Group dates back to 2004 when Alipay was created at the beginning of E-commerce to solve the trust between buyers and sellers in online transactions. Sort of like an Escrow service where it would hold the cash to ensure that products or services were delivered. This allowed e-commerce to flourish, it solved one of the largest problems. The company was previously held under the Alibaba Umbrella owned and Co-Founded by Jack Ma and was spun off in 2011 from Alibaba. Alibaba does have a 33% equity stake in the business.Ant Group divides its services into three main categories. CreditTech , InvestmentTech, and InsureTechIt was supposed to be the biggest IPO of a company, Ant Group - To the point where Hong Kong stockbrokers were so confident in Ant Group’s blockbuster IPO that they offered retail investors to buy the stock with as much as 20x leverage some reports saying even 30x leverage. Due to a reflection of fierce competition for finance and trading fees. Ant planned to do a dual listing in Hong Kong and Shanghai and was expected to raise at least $35B. Hong Kong has more than 700 brokerages but only 14 generate more than half the city's daily stock turnover. Loans increase the odds of winning an IPO allocation and amplify gains when the stock rises after listing. Using the 20x leverage, if the stock declined 5% then their entire investment would be wiped out. Regulators told the company that the online lending business world faces greater scrutiny. Most brokerages said they would waive handling fees and interest rates on margin loans for investors who had subscribed to the share. Bright Smart, a brokerage said that listed companies should be required to compensate investors in such situations, other major lenders like HSBC and BOC Hong Kong Holdings said they would still charge interest on margin loans. Check out the acquired episode on Alibaba Here:https://www.acquired.fm/episodes/season-3-episode-5nbspalibabaWe also talked about Edtech, This industry is growing in the united states, it is called Edtech. It is comprised of PreK-12, post-secondary, and corporate training. Research made by Grandview estimated the global education tech market to be around 76.4 billion dollars in 2019, and they expect a CAGR of 18.1% from 2020 to 2027. The K-12 sector is being the most explored, with 42% of total revenue from the industry Preschool expected to have the highest CAGR 2020-2027 (20%) North America is the region that is focusing the most on EdTech, 38.2% of 2019 rev. American Edtech companies raised around 1.5 billion in 2018. This number increased to 1.7 in 2019 (deals dominated largely by series C)Emerging Technologies are creating a new environment for companies. We can divide those supporting technologies into 4 different industries (Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Blockchain) AR/ VR: Labster, which brings virtual laboratory simulations for STEM students (a great solution if properly executed), raised $21 million for its series B. Owl Ventures led the round. AI: Kidaptive, an adaptive-learning company that uses their platform combined with 3rd parties’ solutions (such as iPad-games) to capture and share data collected on the students to help educate companies to increase their learning outcomes. Raised $19.1 million in series C in 2018. Robotics: Roybi and Robotify Blockchain: Credly, which I would say is a section of itself, structuring a skills-based currency for workers where badges are given to you based on your skills and shared with companies.

This is one conversation the entire #XRParmy is going to love. Daniel Vogel, CEO of Bitso, which is Mexico's largest crypto exchange details how the company is utilizing XRP the asset (not just Ripple software) to catch a piece of the $35B in remittances that flows across the US-Mexico border each year. Sourced mainly from Moneygram in the US, Bitso saw $18M in XRP remittance volume the last week of December and that number has been growing 15-20% each week. Daniel hopes to catch as high as 20% of the weekly US-Mexico remittance flow by the end of 2020. Beyond highlighting a clear win for the Ripple team and XRP, this conversation sheds light on a region of the world that is ripe for crypto adoption beyond pure speculation. Bitso's home country of Mexico is home to 125 million people, 87 million of which have smartphones while only 40 million have bank accounts - only 22 million of these bank accounts are active. Basically, the perfect ingredients for crypto adoption. --- If you enjoyed this conversation, share it with your colleagues & friends, rate, review, and subscribe. This podcast is presented by BlockWorks Group. Salesforce beat Wall Street revenue and earnings estimates, posted 33% overall revenue growth for the quarter and had a net loss of $109M while maintaining previously raised full year guidance. During the earnings call, Chairman and Co-CEO, Marc Benioff also restated the lofty $35B revenue target for FY24. It is clear that in order to effectively double their revenue in five years, they will need to get more customers to buy into and adopt the Customer 360 (now Customer 360 Trust) which will include an expansion of the customer’s Salesforce portfolio. They are counting on this as well as getting ramped adoption and revenue from recently acquired MuleSoft and Tableau. In this podcast, Adam Mansfield shares his perspective on how Salesforce is going to achieve these goals and discusses what Salesforce’s loyal customer base needs to start preparing for.
One of the most eye-opening announcements made at Dreamforce came during Salesforce’s Investor Day Finance Review presentation where Salesforce set an ambitious goal for themselves - reach $35B revenue by FY24. The target itself is eye-catching but the fact that it will require them to double their revenue in just four years is even more noteworthy. In this podcast, Adam Mansfield shares his perspective on how Salesforce is going to achieve this lofty goal and discusses what Salesforce’s loyal customer base needs to start preparing for.

I think it's very important that you are passionate about what that idea is about and what you're doing. Because the journey of being an entrepreneur is very challenging, and it won't be very rewarding in terms of financial rewards in the early stages. I know it can be longer term, but in the early stages. You need something that is more tied to passion that drives you forward past some of the challenges that you deal with. So do something that you're passionate about. And when you find that, I think it makes the road and journey much easier. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We’re nearing open enrollment. If your employer offers the option of a lower payroll deduction for a high deductible health plan or higher pay deduction for a lower deductible plan – It’s usually best to pay the higher premium, especially if you have health issues. Due to backlash, more employers will offer the option to pay more for a lower out-of-pocket. High deductible plans can be HSA eligible – a tax-advantaged account for medical expenses. Many employees don’t fund their HSA – which allow medical payments with pre-taxed dollars. Then they’re hit with bills they must pay with after-tax dollars. Fund an HSA – it amounts to a 20 to 37% discount on medical bills – depending on your tax rate. It’s important to have disability insurance. You have a 3 times greater chance of becoming disabled than dying during your core working years. Social Security disability is an arduous, lengthy process and is often denied. Take what your employer provides for free and beyond that, buy your own policy. Airline junk fees amount to $35B per year – this is true will all airline except Southwest. American, United and Delta advertise low fares, and the sell you up to fares way higher with all kinds of fees. Last Wednesday, on the eve of the AIA National Convention, I had the pleasure of talking with Miguel McKelvey, co-founder of WeWork. The conversation was held in Midtown, in the Project 6 by AF showroom to an invited crowd of 75 architects. The event was co-hosted by Project 6 by AF and Designer Pages, and sponsored by Graff, Julien, Geberit, Kaldewei and Wetstyle. For those of you unfamiliar, WeWork is a co-working startup currently valued at somewhere between $20B to $35B, with almost 400 locations scattered around the world in 69 cities. While WeWork wasn’t the first company to enter the coworking space, they approached it in a very different way, focusing on creating physical environments that connected with workers and business owners, while crafting a culture of super-dedicated members. Miguel McKelvey, one of two co-founders, is an architect by education, with a brief work history in the field that includes an active role in the design and buildout of American Apparel's disruptive retail stores in the early 2000’s. As a personal friend that I first met while studying architecture together at the University of Oregon, I’ve followed Miguel’s entrepreneurial path for almost 20 years. In this conversation we’ll talk about that path, and how architecture has played a critical role in the success of WeWork, starting with his extremely untraditional, yet highly relevant, childhood.

In his opening talk at the 2017 International Celiac Disease Symposium, celiac expert Dr. Abul Abbas of UC San Francisco said, “We are drowning in data, but thirsting for information.” Though there is still much debate around celiac disease and non-celiac gluten sensitivity (even among global experts), the featured ICDS speakers sifted through the numbers to help practitioners interpret what the latest studies can tell us about the negative effects of gluten and how celiac disease presents in populations all over the world. Today the globetrotting Gluten Free RN is coming to us from Thailand, after attending the International Celiac Disease Symposium in New Delhi, India. Armed with the latest information from the ICDS clinical forum, Nadine covers talks given by Dr. Abbas on gluten and the immunological system, and Dr. Alessio Fasano on the spectrum of gluten-related disorders. She relays information regarding the barriers researchers face in studying autoimmune disease as well as gluten’s negative impact on body tissue, including that of our brain. Nadine also shares the most up-to-date statistics around the big business that is celiac disease and the increasing prevalence of gluten intolerance in the US and Asia. She discusses the importance of celiac testing in patients with other autoimmune and neurological disorders and the need for a global education campaign. Listen as Nadine educates you about what gluten is, where it hides, what you can do to avoid it, and how to undo the damage and get healthy again!
