Yaritsa “Pew Pew” Santiago - Episode 218 of Hunters HD Gold Behind the LensIn this episode of Hunters HD Gold: Behind the Lens, Brian talks with Yaritsa “Pew Pew” Santiago, whose remarkable journey stretches from a challenging upbringing in Puerto Rico to serving in the U.S. Army and eventually finding a second family in competitive shooting. She recounts joining ROTC in college, commissioning as an officer in Air Defense Artillery, and deploying twice to the Middle East. After transitioning to a supervisory role with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Yaritsa discovered USPSA through a youth program she supervised, initially overcoming a difficult DQ and forging ahead to become both a committed shooter and certified Range Officer. Throughout the conversation, she highlights how the shooting community provides camaraderie and support—especially during her injury recovery—reinforcing the sense of “family” she first experienced in the military.Elevate your game with our trusted partners:HOIST IV-Level HydrationUse Code HuntersHD15 for 15% offExcaliber AmmunitionUse Code HuntersHD for 5% off and FREE SHIPPING IWIUse Code HDG15 for 15% off your order RealAvidUse Code RAHHDG for 10% off your order Ghost HolsterUSAUse Code HuntersHD 15% offJessie James JJFU CoffeeUse Code HuntersHD for 5% offACE Virtual ShootingUse Code HHDG for 10% off your subscription and physical handset.Imperium RootsUse Code HuntersHD for 20% off Speed BeezUse Code HuntersHD for 10% offLooking for sponsorship for your match? https://www.patreon.com/ColonialOutcasts We're going to get all military analysis with this Houthi/Israel drama that's been heating up since Friday when a Houthi Suicide drone struck Tel-Aviv killing an ex-IDF sniper. It's not going to Escalate. Today we are joined by Jason of Generational News, his links in description, and he is coming out tom talk to us about Air Defense, since he was a field-grade Air Defense Artillery officer in the United States Army back in the day. Your expertise is always appreciated, thanks so much for coming on. https://www.instagram.com/generationalnews/
Today we are joined by Jason Green, retired Field-Grade Air Defense Artillery Officer to talk about the basics of air defense and why you should learn about it in order to not be manipulated by the media, and the war-mongering "Bomb Iran" politicians. The US is vulnerable in the Middle East and will not risk escalation. Let's get into it!
Jason was inspired by his parents to work hard and serve others. He was active in multiple activities throughout his youth to include Awana, Boy Scouting, Royal Rangers, Church, and wrestling. Jason recieved scholarships and offers to other colleges, but West Point and military service drew his attention. Jason struggled with some aspects of West Point at first, but his quiet deliberate strength and his ability to work with others helped him grow, face his challenges, and succeed. Jason branched Air Defense Artillery and posted at Fort Riley, Kansas with 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry. Jason would deploy with 1/1 ID to Ramadi and Habbaniya, Iraq in 2004-2005. Jason served as QRF in support of Marine and Army forces during a good portion of the deployment. When he redeployed Jason struggled to reintegrate. The ADA moved away from Bradley Linebackers and Jason was still feeling the psychological impacts of his time in Iraq. Jason was medically retired from the military and returned with his family to his hometown in Pennsylvania. Jason was able to turn the corner on his experiences in Iraq and move forward with his wife and family being active members of their community. This is his story. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/joe-harrison0/support

Welcome back for a special episode! Rob Davis, Transition Coach, interviewed 5 recent alumni of the August 2021 Career Conference for our post-August 2021 Conference review webcast. At the time of the interview, all alumni guests had already accepted an offer for employment. We really enjoy doing this type of episode because it gives those who are planning to attend a future Career Conference (or those who are curious about the details of the conference) a "peek over the fence" to how exactly everything went down. In this episode, Rob spends a few minutes sharing the "statistics of the Conference" - average number of interviews, pursuit rate, the companies who attended and the positions offered (see much more about this here). He also shares the interview schedule of a candidate from the Conference. Hearing the breadth of companies that just one officer interviewed with is very interesting. The variety of interviews coupled with the fact that no two officers had an identical schedule highlights that the career conference is personally tailored to fit the officer's needs and wants. The alumni that Rob interviewed were from both the USMC and Army and different branches including Infantry, Signal, Intelligence, Aviation and Air Defense Artillery. He engaged them in the following lines of questions: Your reason for partnering with Cameron-Brooks. The biggest surprise from the Conference The most beneficial thing you did to prepare for the interview. Knowing what you know now, what would you do differently? How did you grow professionally through this process? Then, the panel fielded questions from the live audience on topics such as: What caught you off guard? What is the follow up interview process like including "dinner interviews?" Salary-based questions What about remote work? Location preference The transition timeline Virtual vs. in-person interviews How did you prepare? What are you most excited about? These episodes are so insightful because you get to hear perspectives from officers who just wrapped up their career search days before this webcast/podcast. I hope that their perspective gives more insight in your future transition. To stay connected, I encourage you to also check out our website, YouTube Channel , follow us on LinkedIn. As always, if I can be a resource you can contact me directly. Best, Pete (210) 874-1519 // pete@cameron-brooks.com

Scott Tucker, author of Veteran Wealth Secrets, acknowledges we surrender a lot of our liberty when we enter the military. So, as we transition out, we have a responsibility to get that freedom back and become autonomous again, personally, professionally and financially. He is the founder of US Veterans Wealth, the author of a new book Veteran Wealth Secrets and the creator of the Thirty Day LinkedIn Liberty Challenge. He provides powerful tools to help the veteran find financial freedom. The Spotlight So we asked Scott Tucker to step into the Spotlight. Scott Tucker grew up wearing camo pants and studying the Civil War. So it was a natural thing for him to consider West Point. A 2002 graduate, Scott served in Germany and in OIF II as an Air Defense Artillery officer and as a liaison in an Air Force squadron. As a language major at USMA, words matter and have meaning. Consequently, how we say things and how we communicate have a significant impact. Take the term “Military Transition Process.” “Military” – It is focused from the military point of view. “Transition” – it is a change. “Process” – the military has some boxes they need to check Bottom line, it's about the military and not about the individual... When Tucker hears canned guidance that each transitioning service member has to do certain things a certain way, Tucker responds, “Says who?” Veteran Wealth Secrets So why not write a book about it? After twenty years of perpetual war, the transition back to civilian life has become another “out-processing center.” Designed without much regard for the future and best interest of the veteran, Tucker thinks it is time for a fresh view. VeteransWealth Secrets is "The playbook for obtaining financial control in the modern economy." He writes, “Trends continue to show that veterans do not feel transition assistance programs are preparing them for a successful transition into civilian life.” Citing the Blue Star Families 2019 Military Family Lifestyle Survey. “The big takeaway here is that a substantial percentage of military families are struggling financially even before transition. And people who are struggling to meet their day-to-day and month-to-month financial responsibilities do not have the means to implement any longer-term financial plans, which means they probably aren't even making them.” So rather than publish yet another “how to” guide on resume writing and what kind of suit to buy, Tucker takes us on a deeper dive. Each veteran needs to find their passion and seek a career that leads to real independence, autonomy, and individual and financial freedom. It’s often said on this podcast that war and combat change you forever, no matter your level of exposure. Tim Stolinski is living proof of that. Deployed to Iraq to train and advise Iraqi Border Police as part of a Military Transition Team (MiTT) in 2009, Stolinski was integrated into a society and fledgling military reeling from an insurgency and a leadership void, the genesis of which extended back decades. Due in part to the day-to-day effort to remain amongst the living, Stolinski’s experience in Iraq would leave a lasting impression, changing him, as it does, forever. Once home and able to process his time at war, Stolinski noticed that the divide between the civilian populace and those who had ventured off to different wars in the Global War on Terror - one of which has lasted for nearly twenty years now - had become much deeper than what it was before he joined the military in the early 2000s. Stolinski hopes to bridge that gap, through writing and outreach within his community, and continued service to his country and those he hopes to help better understand his fellow veterans coming home from war.
