Stop Cuomo: The Lindsey Boylan Interview

Gaslit Nation

Play Episode Listen Later May 22, 2025 25:32

A 2021 Department of Justice investigation concluded that former Governor Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed 13 women, fostering a toxic workplace culture defined by power abuse, intimidation, and retaliation. In 2020, Lindsey Boylan did something brave and necessary. After years of working under former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, she became the first woman to publicly accuse him of sexual harassment. Her voice cracked the silence, and eventually, 13 women in total came forward as part of a Department of Justice investigation that began under the Biden administration. That courage forced Cuomo to resign, but now he's back, eyeing one of the most powerful posts in the resistance to Trump: New York City Mayor. Boylan's story is a warning. She worked closely with Cuomo from 2015 to 2018, first as the Chief of Staff at Empire State Development and later as Deputy Secretary for Economic Development. She resigned when the environment became, in her words, “more and more toxic.” When media reports floated Cuomo possibly joining the Biden administration as Attorney General, Boylan took to Twitter, risking everything to speak out. And now? Just last week, in the middle of the NYC mayoral primary, Cuomo flirted with a female radio host on air, asking her out on a date. That's Cuomo gloating that even he can stage a comeback, like Trump, after costing taxpayers tens of millions of dollars in legal bills fighting sexual harrassment claims. America cannot afford a sexual predator in the White House and in charge of one of our biggest cities, especially with activists, immigrants, and real journalists increasingly vulnerable to MAGA's creeping fascism. Share this interview with voters you may know in NYC. And New Yorkers, the mayor's race matters. Use ranked-choice voting wisely: do not rank Cuomo at all. Want to enjoy Gaslit Nation ad-free? The Future of Qualified Immunity in Ohio | Lawyer Talk Breakdown

I want to tackle a hot topic that's getting a lot of attention here in Ohio: police qualified immunity. There's been some buzz lately with talk of amending the Ohio constitution to eliminate qualified immunity, and with moves from the Attorney General and even the Ohio Supreme Court nudging this issue closer to the ballot, the debate is really heating up.I break down what qualified immunity actually is, why it matters for police officers, government workers, and regular folks like us, and what could happen if it gets scrapped. Trust me, there are strong arguments on both sides, and it's the kind of issue that could seriously change the legal landscape here in Ohio.I'm not here to take sides today, but I do want to set the stage for a much bigger conversation. I'm planning to bring in some guests soon—lawyers who work on both sides of this debate—so we can really dig deep and talk about what's at stake. So if you've got questions or thoughts about qualified immunity, shoot them my way. I'm looking forward to having this discussion, and I hope you stick around for what's sure to be an interesting ride. Let's get into it, right here on Lawyer Talk.Submit your questions to www.lawyertalkpodcast.com.Recorded at Channel 511.Stephen E. With so many issues stemming from President Trump's executive orders now before the Supreme Court, it's tough to know where to begin. So Andrew and Mary start this week with the arguments heard last Thursday from Mary's ICAP team on the courts issuing national injunctions in several birthright citizenship cases. They recap Thursday's highlights and note the Justices' interest in getting to the merits of the birthright issue. Then, they talk through two SCOTUS decisions from Friday and Monday: one on the Trump administration using the Alien Enemies Act to ‘extract' Venezuelan migrants, and the other on their attempt to revoke the protected status of Venezuelans. Last up, Andrew and Mary turn to the specifics of a few of the immigration removal cases, as hearings continue and the lack of due process continues to be challenged.Want to listen to this show without ads? Lots of good stuff happening in Florida. Too bad we're full. Introduction (00:00:00 - 00:02:20)* Opening Banter: The hosts introduce themselves as the "two kings of the Rube Empire," self-described right-wing extremists, supernaturalists, and Christian bigots. They emphasize their unique perspective and humor.* Podcast Branding: Welcome to the Kingsplaining Podcast, described as the "greatest hour of your life."* Dusty's Return: The hosts acknowledge Dusty's absence and his role in keeping them "tethered to reality." A listener feedback highlights Dusty's grounding influence.Main Topics Discussed1. The New American Pope: Pope Leo (00:02:20 - 00:11:01)* Historic Appointment: The hosts discuss the appointment of Pope Leo, the first American Pope, hailing from Chicago. They note the historical avoidance of American popes to prevent perceived U.S. supremacy in the Catholic Church.* Skepticism and Critique: They express skepticism about the new Pope's Republican registration (2023), calling him a “Democrat light” due to Chicago's political reputation.* Catholic Practices Critiqued: The hosts critique Catholic veneration of Mary, saints, and the Pope, equating it to idolatry. They reference the Orlando shrine “Mary, Queen of the Universe” and compare it to pagan worship of figures like Ashtaroth.* Crowd Reaction: They mock the emotional response of Catholics weeping for joy at the Pope's announcement, contrasting it with Protestant reactions to new pastors.* Theological Debate: The hosts argue that Catholic practices deviate from biblical teachings, citing 1 Timothy 2:5 to challenge the necessity of intermediaries like Mary.2. Florida's Dominance (00:11:01 - 00:25:20)* Economic Success: Florida boasts the number one economy in the U.S. for the second consecutive year, with a $25 billion rainy day fund (up from $2 billion under Governor DeSantis).* Education Achievements: Florida has the best postgraduate education system, the cheapest tuition (unchanged for five years), and strong elementary school test scores, surpassing states like California and New York.* Policy Wins:* Fluoride Removal: Florida removed fluoride from its water supply, citing potential negative effects on children's mental development.* Chemtrail Ban: The state outlawed chemtrails, though federal control over airspace above 10,000 feet limits enforcement.* Vaccine Study: A Florida study, released on May 5, 2025, claims COVID-19 vaccines definitively killed 475,000 Americans, a topic the hosts note is suppressed by mainstream media.* Deportation Stance: Florida's Attorney General defied a Supreme Court ruling against ICE deportations, continuing state-level deportations.* Infrastructure: The I-4 Express lanes generate profit through optional tolls, funded without new taxes or debt. The hosts praise the efficiency and affordability of this project.* Cultural Move: Florida paved over a Black Lives Matter street mural, which the hosts celebrate as a rejection of “woke” symbolism.3. Daily Wire Rift and Cancel Culture (00:25:20 - 00:28:59)* Internal Conflict: The hosts discuss a rift at The Daily Wire, noting declining viewership after the departures of Candace Owens and Brett Cooper, who are now thriving independently (Owens with 5 million views per episode, Cooper with 1.5 million).* Minnesota Incident: A Minnesota mom, Shiloh Hendricks, faced cancel culture after using the N-word toward a child at a playground. A Somali bystander recorded the incident, sparking online backlash. A GoFundMe was started to support Hendricks.* Matt Walsh's Stance: Matt Walsh publicly disagreed with Ben Shapiro on this issue, appearing on Tucker Carlson's show to defend free speech, highlighting tensions within The Daily Wire.* Hosts' Perspective: They condemn the use of the N-word but argue that cancel culture disproportionately targets white individuals and that free speech must be upheld.4. Nielsen Rating System Update (01:23:53 - 01:28:54)* Revamped System: Nielsen updated its rating system to include digital streaming (cell phones, tablets, Netflix, Amazon, Apple), aiming for more accurate viewership numbers.* Sports Dominance: The new data confirms sports as the most-watched content, with Netflix pursuing NFL broadcasting rights after securing WWE's Raw.* Cultural Insight: The hosts note the popularity of live events like the Super Bowl (168 million viewers) and the rise of niche sports like the Savannah Bananas baseball league, which prioritizes affordability and fun.5. The Woke Right and Secular Liberalism (01:29:01 - 01:40:56)* Critique of Centrism: The hosts argue there is no “center” in morality—only holiness or its absence. They reject secular liberalism, which they see as leading to “woke” ideologies.* Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro: They criticize figures like Peterson and Shapiro for adopting a woke stance, particularly in defending Israel uncritically, which they compare to the left's identity politics.* Christian Nationalism Defined: The hosts define Christian nationalism as a desire to avoid “pissing off God” by upholding biblical principles, not racial or ethnic divisions. They advocate for laws rooted in justice and morality, not secular compromise.* Nick Fuentes Critique: They distance themselves from figures like Nick Fuentes, whose ethnostate advocacy they label as fascist and unaligned with American conservatism.* Cultural Shift: The hosts celebrate a societal shift toward conservatism and Christianity, noting increased church attendance among young men and growing anti-abortion sentiment (e.g., Oklahoma's abortion ban).6. Modern Art and Cultural Decline (01:41:17 - 01:47:55)* Modern Art Critique: The hosts mock modern art, citing examples like white-painted canvases and a banana taped to a wall as lacking creativity or meaning. They argue true art requires talent and expression.* CIA Psyop Theory: They claim modern art began as a CIA operation to confuse Soviet perceptions of Western culture, later becoming a vehicle for money laundering and cultural destruction.* Met Gala and Celebrity Culture: The hosts dismiss events like the Met Gala as irrelevant, noting the decline of traditional celebrity influence and the rise of comedians like Shane Gillis, who reflect societal truths.7. Maintaining Joy Amid Chaos (01:47:55 - 01:52:28)* Catherine Fitz's Insight: Referencing a Tucker Carlson interview, the hosts highlight Fitz's view that “hopelessness is a psyop” designed to steal joy and strength.* Biblical Foundation: They cite Nehemiah 8:10 (“The joy of the Lord is our strength”) to argue that joy resists the devil's attempts to control through despair.* Community Support: The hosts emphasize the importance of a faith community to rebuild one's “state of amusement” during challenging times.* Encouragement: They remind listeners that Christ remains sovereign, ensuring ultimate victory despite worldly struggles.Merch Plug (00:03:42 - 00:06:00)* New T-Shirts: The hosts promote new merchandise available at kingsplaining.com and their TikTok shop:* Rebellion Shirt: Features a blood-drenched skull with a crown and the phrase “Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.”* Christus Rex Shirt: Depicts a crowned lamb with a bloody side, bearing the phrases “Christus Rex” and “Yesu Dominus.”* Availability: Shirts are available in most sizes, though 5XL is exclusive to the Etsy shop due to TikTok's delivery constraints.* Personal Endorsement: The hosts express enthusiasm for the designs, noting their empowering and bold aesthetic.Verse of the Day (01:52:43)* Ecclesiastes 12:11: “The sayings of the wise are like cattle prods, and those from masters of collections are like firmly embedded nails. The sayings are given by one Shepherd.”* Interpretation: Wisdom and truth from Christ, the Shepherd, guide and stabilize believers, keeping them on the right path.Closing Prayer (01:53:19)* Led by The Iron King: A prayer thanking God for the opportunity to discuss current events, affirming His sovereignty, and expressing hope in eternal victory through Christ.Outro (01:53:57 - 01:54:22)* Podcast Identity: The hosts reiterate their commitment to serving Christ Jesus as the “two kings of the Rube Empire,” where “the people are free, and taxes are voluntary.”* Call to Action: Encourage listeners to like, share, subscribe, and support the podcast by purchasing merch.* Sign-Off: “Peace out. God bless. See you next week.”* Humorous Tagline: “Is the Pope a pedophile?”Key Quotes* “If America falls apart, and if it does, praise the Lord. If it doesn't, praise the Lord.” (00:00:14)* “Hopelessness is a psyop. They want to steal your joy.” (01:48:55)* “There is no such thing as the center. There's holiness or not.” (01:32:42)* “Christian nationalism to me is this: I don't want my country to piss off God.” (01:38:58)* “The joy of the Lord is our strength.” (01:49:47)Additional Notes* Tone and Style: The episode blends humor, satire, and serious commentary, reflecting the hosts' self-described “right-wing extremist” persona. They use provocative language (e.g., “fake and gay”) to critique secular culture and political correctness.* Controversial Topics: The hosts tackle sensitive issues like race, religion, and free speech, often taking polarizing stances. Labour MP Kim Leadbeater's assisted dying bill is back in the Commons for the report stage today – returning to parliament for the first time since major changes were made to the legislation. While Leadbeater has insisted the bill is coming back ‘even stronger' than before, support among MPs appears to be fading. The mood in parliament was different to the second reading – which listeners will remember as a self-congratulatory affair, hailed as a ‘historic' day by Leadbeater – but today's debate was notably more ill-tempered. The majority of speeches seemed to oppose the bill rather than support it, and a late intervention by Esther Rantzen did not help. The prevailing opinion appears to be that, while there is support for this kind of legislation, there is little backing for a private member's bill. If this bill does achieve Royal Assent, that will only mark the beginning of a complex challenge for Labour, who will then face major decisions on doctors, training and substances – all issues likely to dominate debate for the remainder of their term. Is Starmer right to hang his legacy on this issue? Lucy Dunn speaks to James Hale and Rajiv Shah, a former adviser to the Attorney General and in Number 10. Produced by Oscar Edmondson.

Stephen Miller's got some ideas. So this week, Mary and Andrew start with a focus on his recent acknowledgement that the White House is considering suspending habeas corpus altogether for migrants. They talk about what that means, and the reality that it lacks any legal sniff test, which the Supreme Court agrees with. Then, they highlight what happens when due process works, after the release of Rumeysa Ozturk, a Tufts student who was detained by ICE over an opinion piece she wrote for the student newspaper. Next up, a significant decision from Judge Susan Illston out of California, putting a temporary hold on reducing the federal workforce. Mary and Andrew note what she held, including that the administration needs to follow procedure and get congressional buy in. And lastly, they preview the Supreme Court argument Mary's ICAP team is bringing this Thursday on birthright citizenship- not on the merits per se, but on the issue of national injunctions. And a quick eye pop on Trump's decision to swap out Ed Martin as the US Attorney for DC with yet another Fox News host, Jeanine Pirro.Want to listen to this show without ads? SEASON 3 EPISODE 125: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: What do you like least? Suspending Habeas Corpus? Breaking the law by threatening to arrest members of Congress for obeying the law? Or Trump accepting a half billion dollar impeachable illegal bribe from the government of Qatar that the Attorney General has ruled ISN’T illegal and by the way the Attorney General used to be a lobbyist FOR the government of Qatar? They’re all nation-destroying events but bluntly there is no way back from a suspension of Habeas Corpus. It’s a one-man dictatorship then – because if you think SUSPENDING Habeas Corpus ‘just for undocumented immigrants’ is somehow acceptable on its face, remember two things. One is: that there would be NO HEARINGS and NO LEGAL RECOURSE for ANYONE seized in this way so that all they would have to do is CLAIM that YOU are an undocumented immigrant to rationalize disappearing you, and you would not have a hearing at which you could prove you were a citizen, and you would not have a lawyer to appeal the decision not to GIVE you a hearing. And Stephen Miller didn't even say 'we'd only suspend it for undocumented immigrants.' Of course threatening to arrest members of Congress for exerting their legal right of oversight to the Concentration Camp ICE just opened in Newark by accusing them of assaulting agents (you know: The Congresswoman hit my fist with her face!) is bad and it mainlines back to the idea that they could just arrest them and under suspended Habeas Corpus just disappear them. As Congressman Michael 'I'm Too Dumb To Realize I'm Calling For My Own Arrest' McCaul now says of the Jersey Democrats "you cannot be complicit with gang violence against our law enforcement. And I think perhaps that’s what it comes down to.” ALSO: Trump's new Qatari plane is an illegal, impeachable offense but since the AG already registered as a Qatari agent, just hit the shrug emoji. They've accused The Secretary of Scotch with plagiarism at Princeton. They fired the Librarian of Congress and Karoline Lie-vitt is so stupid she thinks kids check books out of the Library of Congress. Trump now wants Jeanine Pirro as interim U.S. Attorney in DC, which allows us to flash back to the time she lost a page of her speech announcing she was running for Senate and just stood there until they found it for her. And of course, there's a new Pope. Father Bob. Father Bob the White Sox fan. Meaning our Nancy Faust, who went back to the White Sox games yesterday to reprise her role as the greatest stadium organist of all time, is right when she says "Who knew? All those years I literally had a papal audience!" B-Block (46:27) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: This time they're all people I know and used to respect who have failed the world. Gavin Newsom has again proposed appeasing Trump. Bob Iger has again carried an immeasurable amount of propaganda water for Trump. And Claire Shipman, whom I adored, has stood by as Columbia University (you know, the place with the Journalism School) suspended four of its own student reporters for...reporting. C-Block (1:02:00) OUR PAL SMILES again needs your help.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell dive into the fight for justice for Scott Spivey, who was killed in a shooting incident in Horry County, SC, after allegedly being chased for nine miles. Scott's sister, Jennifer Spivey Foley, has emerged as a powerful force demanding accountability. Along with attorney Mark ‘The Tiger' Tinsley, Jennifer's lawsuit has unearthed a "treasure trove of evidence" pointing to an allegedly "corrupt and inept investigation by Horry County Police" and a flawed review by SLED and the Attorney General's Office. Jennifer reveals how she discovered crucial audio recordings from evidence collected on the shooter Weldon Boyd's phone, which contradict the official narrative. You'll hear Jennifer's powerful and emotional speech before the Horry County Council, where she outlined the biased investigation, mishandling of evidence (including Scott's body), and challenged officials directly. We also share the chilling audio from Weldon's own phone where he boasts Scott was "terrified" during the chase. The episode explores the political response, including a letter from Horry County lawmakers asking the governor to intervene. We scrutinize State Representative William Bailey's decision not to sign this letter and examine disturbing recorded phone calls where Weldon Boyd discusses a potential "proclamation for bravery" allegedly crafted by his attorney Ken Moss and SC State Rep. Bailey. Bailey denies involvement, but his statements appear contradicted by the evidence. We also dissect the Horry County Police Department's press conference aimed at mitigating backlash. Chief Kris Leonhart's explanation of "improperly labeled videos" is obviously inadequate. More significantly, Chief Leonhart's claim that former Deputy Chief Brandon Strickland had "no action on scene" is directly countered by Strickland's own voice on tape admitting he was "working in the shadows" for Weldon Boyd the night of the shooting.  Lots to cover, so let's dive in...

Long established legal norms continue to be challenged by Trump's Justice Department, leading Andrew and Mary to emphasize how the courts have grown increasingly frustrated with the administration's tactics. They begin with last Thursday's ruling from Judge Rodriguez in Texas, that Trump was unjustified in using the Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelan migrants. After a review of what that means for his ‘extraction' efforts, Andrew and Mary go deep on an assessment made public from the National Intelligence Council, that indicates despite Trump's presidential proclamation evoking the Alien Enemies Act, intelligence officials do not see a strong link between the Venezuelan government and Tren de Aragua. And lastly this week, they look at the latest judicial pushback on Trump's attempts to threaten law firms, after Judge Beryl Howell ruled against his targeting of Perkins Coie by executive order.Further reading: Here is the assessment from the National Intelligence Council on the relationship between the Maduro government and Tren de Aragua, courtesy of the New York Times.Want to listen to this show without ads?
