We don't need more treatment manuals—we need more musicians. In this episode, Dr. Graham Taylor is joined by Ross Ellenhorn, a pioneering voice in mental health and addiction recovery. As the founder and CEO of Ellenhorn—the nation's most comprehensive community integration program—Ross has spent his career helping individuals heal and thrive within their lives, not away from them. With a joint PhD in Social Welfare Policy and Sociology from Brandeis University, he's a sought-after speaker, consultant, and advocate for reshaping behavioral health care. Ross's work defies traditional paradigms, elevating collaboration, creativity, and authentic human connection as the true drivers of healing. Together, we explore the art of psychotherapy as an improvisational practice—fluid, relational, and deeply human. It's a conversation about reframing resistance, restoring hope, and making space for people to recover in ways that honor their lived experience.   For more information about Ross Ellenhorn, please visit: https://www.ellenhorn.com For more information on “Purple Crayons: The Art of Drawing A Life”, by Ross Ellenhorn, please visit: https://www.harpercollins.com/products/purple-crayons-ross-ellenhorn?variant=40128124846114 For more information about Cardea and Ketamine Treatment, please visit: https://cardea.net Connect with Ross on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ross-ellenhorn-47a6751 Connect with Ellenhorn PACT on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/ellenhornPACT

This week, we're talking to the authors of a new book about spaceflight called "Star Bound: A Beginner's Guide to the American Space Program, from Goddard's Rockets to Goldilocks Planets and Everything in Between," Emily Carney and Bruce McCandless III. Emily started the popular Facebook group Space Hipsters, now 66,000 members strong, and Bruce is a retired lawyer and space enthusiast who also happens to be the son of Bruce McCandless II, the NASA astronaut who flew on the shuttle and pioneered the use of the Manned Maneuvering Unit. We're going to cover a lot of territory in this one, so take your hand off the eject lever and strap in! Get "Star Bound" (Amazon Affiliate): https://amzn.to/4hvHtXo Headlines - Trump's Mars Vision: The administration's push for a crewed Mars mission by 2029 sparks debate. Tariq notes Elon Musk's visible enthusiasm, while Rod highlights the technical and political hurdles. - NASA Leadership Shuffle: Janet Petro named interim NASA administrator, bypassing Jim Free. The move might signal potential shifts in Artemis priorities. - DEI Rollbacks: Executive orders halt NASA's diversity initiatives, sparking workforce concerns. - SpaceX Milestones: 400th Falcon 9 landing celebrated, with 60 Starlink satellites launched in a week. ULA's Vulcan launch remains delayed. - Meteorite Doorbell Footage: A meteorite impact in Canada, captured on camera, stuns scientists and homeowners. - Quirky Moon Naming: IAU dubs a quasi-moon "Cardea" after the Roman goddess of door hinges. Main Topic: Star Bound - Book Overview: A cultural history of the U.S. space program, connecting missions like Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Skylab to societal shifts (e.g., civil rights movements). Authors Emily Carney and Bruce McCandless III emphasized accessibility, avoiding "engineer-speak." - Skylab's Legacy: Emily's passion shines as she details Skylab's role as a bridge between Apollo and the Shuttle, citing the groundbreaking science performed and how it may help us send humans to Mars. - MMU & Bruce McCandless II: Bruce shares stories of his father's iconic untethered flight with the Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU), suggesting that future missions may revive jetpack tech for tourism and repairs. - Shuttle Era Love/Hate: Both guests defend the Shuttle's cultural impact (e.g., Judy Resnik's inspiring legacy) while acknowledging its flaws. - Conspiracy Corner: The duo laughs over wild theories (STS-1 being flown by clones; Neil Armstrong being a robot) and praises Rod's 2016 book "Amazing Stories of the Space Age" for documenting Project Orion's nuclear explosive propulsion tech. - Future of Space: The book ends at today's "precipice"—Artemis delays, Mars hype, and private ventures. Bruce predicts jetpacks and hotels; Emily urges newcomers to embrace space history's messy, human side. Host Taylor Arenz had the opportunity to talk to some big playmakers from the opening week.First up is Alvarado High School quarterback Cardea Collier. The Indians traveled to Godley and spoiled the Wildcats' home opener, achieving a decisive 48-21 victory. Cardea shares details about the game, and you will enjoy getting to know him and learning about the team he has led for the past three seasons.Arguably, one of the best games of the weekend was the back-and-forth showdown between the Katy Tigers and the Dickinson Gators, which came down to the last play. This week's guest, Isaiah McMillian, starred in that pivotal moment, and he fills Taylor in on the game and all the emotions of that thrilling night. This week's final guest is Grayson Rigdon, one of the most talked-about players in Texas high school football this summer. Grayson transferred to Columbus High School this summer, making the move from 6-man to 11-man football. This change sparked plenty of conversation, but Grayson silenced the critics with an outstanding performance in Week 1. You will love hearing from Grayson and learning how he has managed the pressure over the past few months.

Interview begins @ 4:06 In this episode Dimitri Mugianis shares his captivating journey from a tumultuous early life marked by drug use as a means to alleviate pain and delve into alternate states of consciousness, to a life-transforming encounter with iboga. This African sacrament catalyzed his confrontation with trauma, miraculously eradicating his heroin dependency post-experience. Our conversation navigates through the realms of alternate states of consciousness, religion, healing, harm reduction, and the significance of art in recovery. Dimitri highlights the spiritual longing inherent in addiction, resonating with Jung's insights on the quest for the divine. He reflects on the invaluable lessons and spiritual insights gained from his time within the Bwiti community in Gabon, Africa, underscoring the profound impact of music, specifically rock and roll and jazz, in his survival and healing journey. The discussion extends to the power of community, family, art, connection, medicine, and spirituality in fostering healing environments. We explore Dimitri's transformative work in Harlem, assisting individuals in overcoming opiate addiction through the principles of the Bwiti tradition and his innovative approach to harm reduction. This episode challenges conventional perspectives on addiction treatment, inviting a reevaluation of success beyond mere abstinence. Dimitri's insights into the fetishization of trauma and the creation of the experiential space, Cardea, in New York City, offer a fresh lens on healing and recovery. Join us as we dissect the modern "medical gaze," its limitations, and how it parallels with the "shaman's gaze" in its approach to healing. Dimitri's story is a testament to the potential for radical change, advocating for a broader understanding of addiction, treatment, and the essence of healing itself. Bio: Dimitri Mugianis, harm reduction advocate and psychedelic practitioner, musician, writer, and community organizer, became the face of using underground Ibogaine to kick heroin addiction in the United States. He developed a hybrid modality of administration that integrates the ceremonial and musical elements of traditional ibogaine ceremonies with the best safety protocols of Western medicine. His story is the focus of the documentary I'm Dangerous With Love and his work has been documented by The New York Times, The Rolling Stone, This American Life, HBO, and many more. Even though Ibogaine is still prohibited in the United States, it is attracting avid interest from researchers all over the world and becoming accepted among care providers and clinics. Dimitri has led over five hundred Ibogaine ceremonies and supported numerous individuals with their problematic habits. He's also performed thousands of ceremonies using sound, art and psychedelics – especially Psilocybin and MDMA – to help individuals break with their psychological suffering and to spark spiritual awakenings. Immersed in the psychedelic space for the last 20 years, Mugianis is an expert in both the potential and limitations of psychedelic medicines. A respected icon in the field of harm reduction, he co-created a holistic program at New York Harm Reduction Educators (NYHRE), a groundbreaking Harlem-based community organization bringing together acupuncture, ritual, sound meditation, reiki, bodywork and other treatment modalities for people experiencing homelessness, active drug users, sex workers and the formerly incarcerated. https://www.dimitrimugianis.com https://cardea.net Website for The Sacred Speaks: http://www.thesacredspeaks.com WATCH: YouTube for The Sacred Speaks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOAuksnpfht1udHWUVEO7Rg Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thesacredspeaks/ @thesacredspeaks Twitter: https://twitter.com/thesacredspeaks Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thesacredspeaks/ Brought to you by: https://www.thecenterforhas.com Theme music provided by: http://www.modernnationsmusic.com

Today on Midday, a discussion about the the Child Victims Act becomes law in Maryland. The law allows survivors of sexual assault in Maryland the right to sue the Archdiocese of Baltimore and others for civil damages, regardless of when the abuse they suffered took place. Prior to the law, survivors of sexual assault were ruled out of suing alleged abusers once they were past age 38. What will be the effect of the new law that wipes out the statute of limitations in these cases? The Child Victims Act of 2023 goes into effect on October 1st. Two survivors of abuse by employees of the Archdiocese of Baltimore join us to discuss the new law and its consequences. Teresa Lancaster was a student at Archbishop Keough High School in the early 1970s. Her story is one of the central elements of the Netflix documentary, The Keepers. We are also joined by Tony Petrowski, who was abused as a middle school student at St. Elizabeth's Catholic School on Lakewood Avenue in Baltimore. Jonathan Schochor is the Founding Partner and Chairman with Schochor, Staton, Goldberg and Cardea, a law firm in Baltimore that represents victims of sexual assault. RAINN is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (1 800-656-4673) in partnership with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country.

12 months ago investors couldn't be blamed if they found it hard to grasp the genius and foresight of Liquid Avatar $LQID $LQAVF the easiest way to describe the company was as a blockchain platform allowing people to manage & profit from their digital identity, which became a real need once global laws started being enacted to prevent the likes of Facebook from every abusing our private information again. It sounded great and definitely sounded like something valuable 3-4 years into the future ... but then the signs started showing up that painted an accelerating picture that would put LQID at the forefront of digital identity. 1. In March of this year, Google validated the $LQID business model with this stunning announcement: Google announces major shift away from precision-targeting of ads based on everything you do on the internet • Google believes these types of tracking methods don't "meet rising consumer expectations for privacy, nor will they stand up to rapidly evolving regulatory restrictions, and therefore aren't a sustainable long term investment." • Google is experimenting with tools in its Privacy Sandbox that are designed to allow advertising to continue to work on the web but in a less privacy-encroaching way. • "Keeping the internet open and accessible for everyone requires all of us to do more to protect privacy — and that means an end to not only third-party cookies, but also any technology used for tracking individual people as they browse the web," David Temkin, Google's director of product management for ads privacy and trust, What is the potential outcome of this major shift by Google? "Google's decision could upend the ad industry, which has relied on these types of tracking tools" Now the data privacy and monetization game is underway with LQID sitting in a great position within the industry and the dominant position within the small cap world. 2. In May of this year, The Ontario government released its digital identity strategy outlining ways in which it plans to harness the potential of the digital economy and better utilize data. Included in the plan are tangible commitments. Then came the news all Liquid Avatar investors were waiting for: Ontario Releases Technology and Standards for Digital Identity which includes: • the creation of a new data authority; • the introduction of a new government-issued digital ID that lets people prove who they are both online and in person. ENTER LIQUID AVATAR Enter $LQID whose Liquid Avatar Verifiable Credentials Ecosystem (LAVCE) is being built to support all participants in a digital credential ecosystem, including the Holder, Issuer and Verifier, using state-of-the-art blockchain and open standards technologies - initially as a node on the Indicio Network. More than just a good idea, $LQID issued a press release announcing the following: "Ontario is one of the first jurisdictions in North America to announce that it will issue and enable digital credentials – and it has been a great experience working with the government on this both directly and through our role in membership organizations like the Trust Over IP Foundation" AND "Liquid Avatar Technologies has been a part of the ongoing consultations around the province's plan to introduce a digital identification credential by the end of 2021" Make no mistake about it. This is a simply massive paradigm shift and $LQID isn't going to tackle this on its own. The Company is a voting and steering committee member of the Trust over IP Foundation, founding and steering committee member of Cardea, a Linux Foundation Public Health project, member of the Good Health Pass collaborative, ID2020, DIACC, The Linux Foundation and a founding member of the Lumedic Exchange.

Voodoo is often portrayed in the movies as zombies being raised from their graves by wicked practitioners of an evil form of magick. Most people know Voodoo as associated with Voodoo dolls, and not much else. There is SO much more to Voodoo. It has its roots in West Africa and Haiti, brought to North American shores via the slave trade. These stolen souls were forced here against their will, and made to worship as their captors did. They had to hide their own systems of belief to keep from being punished further. My guest Sarah from Conjured Cardea explains this and more regarding the Voodoo system of magick. In the first of a new series of documentary stories from contemporary Britain, Alan Dein captures the dramas of young families just moving into Cardea: a brand new housing estate on the outskirts of Peterborough. Just two years ago, Cardea was just open fields - now it's a burgeoning community. Two families in particular attract Alan's attention. Sara Jane and Stacey are both expectant mums in their early twenties. Together with their partners, they're about to embark on a new life on a new-build estate. Cardea represents a fresh start for both women after an often difficult past. Sara Jane was brought up on council estate and vowed that she wanted a different upbringing for her own children. At the same time, Stacey hopes that her ambitions to become a midwife - thwarted through ill-health - might yet bear fruit as she starts out in a new home. Alan follows the young families up to and beyond moving day, talking to them about their hopes and fears for the future. Producer: Laurence Grissell.
