Who is Cobalt Blue? Well, we'll tell you, but you might not like the answer! In 1997, Mark Waid and Brian Augustyn took a 12-issue vacation from the ongoing Flash series to recharge their batteries. But during this so-called “hiatus,” they were busy collaborating on a number of stories and even a 96-page hybrid prose/graphic novel that would set up their upcoming “Chain Lightning” storyline, billed as “the ultimate Flash epic.” Fans didn't react well to the shocking retcon that kicked off the story, but we found the resultant time-travel romp to be a bit of an overlooked gem, introducing a thousand years of potentially interesting speedsters to the DC Universe. PLUS! Don't miss the wedding of Wally West and Linda Park (Take One)! Discussed in this episode: The Flash #142-150 and #1,000,000, plus The Life Story of The Flash (1997) and other stories. Chaz N Schatz get another, another first-of-a-kind: a Couple Filing Jointly Case 2112! His & Hers RushRash as deep as their love for one another, we're talking about none other than Eric Wirsing and Julie Schreiber of Solar Federation, amoung other very special V.I.P. guests... Chaz and Schatz take the conversation to wild new levels of geek-dom with thse two Berklee College of Music-trained love birds. From their music school days on through to their most recent experience filming the music video for their rendition of Rush's Witch Hunt, Chaz n Schatz get to know this married musical duo and their Rush-filled lives: - What's Julie's soul animal and how did it speak to Eric in those early days of their budding romance? - What's it like being married to a Rushian and in Central Pennsylvania's Voted Number One Tribute Band? - The love and dedication they share for recreating the music of Rush. - The importance of tweaking and authenticity for the way both Eric and Julie approach their instruments. - What it was like working with legendary Rush producer Terry Brown and Rush album cover artist and keyboard soundscape artist Hugh Smye on SF's version of Witch Hunt. - We get to the true origins of the fire that inspired Solar Federation's formation. - A special mystery guest breaks in over our technical difficulties and results in our first ever TWO PART EPISODE!! (We didn't even get to Chain Lightning in Part 1!!) The wheel doesn't deliver until Part 2, where we spin Madrigal, the only other song Ffej Herb, drummer of Solar Federation, would have preferred to hear over Rivendell when he first appeared on Rush Rash. The wheel is indeed mischievous! So, we didn't get to much name-dropping of our usual suspects in Madrigal Part 1. from rushvault.com, and rushisaband.com, or our fantabulous sponsor, Danforth & Pape and our newest sponsor, podcastle.ai...but we will, oh boy, will we! This is indeed the new record holder for marathon hang, taking its place in the record books, and yet again, one more time providing positive proof that we belong on the Deep Dive Podcast Network! We just keep giving you more and more and more and more and more. And while we didn't get to Schatz's Scratch List in Part 1, we do in Part 2 so come back for that - we call it scotch and scratch...till then, go scratch with these bands live! RED ALERT! RED ALERT! We process our first genuine Case 2-1-1-2, with Jim “The Friendly Face” Brunke - Steam Punk, Rush Rat, and co-founder of Overtime Angels and the famed Rush Camps! Jim's Rush journey is quite unlike any other. Having seen the band over 100 times up through R40, Jim's a passionate guy with a big heart for helping people get a leg up. His philanthropic efforts aside, he's been up close and personal with more Rushians than anyone we've met, having logged thousands of miles, domestically and internationally to see the band do that thing it does, even that thing dey doo in The Camera Eye -> New York to London…the guys is whacked…he's personally known to the guys, yep, all of them, having spent time drinking with the two who like to socialize up on the train tracks around someplace in Toronto…and he's got Ricky & Bubbles' approval, eh! Talking with tour managers, having his personal pictures signed, talking up his effin hat, having Geddy ask him about his facial hair, pulling Alex's finger (that's what Bubbles said), having and incredible network of friends and the love of a woman, family, and community who've all scratched it live with him and Rush too, Jim is a man benefitting from them angels working overtime in his life, fo' sho…keeping the flame burning! We get into exactly zero news and have a great time getting into Chain Lightning – how are you supposed to answer goofy questions about guys you know?!?! His personal experiences are so numerous, and with his encyclopedic knowledge of set lists and when they did what live for the last 20 years, How Many Times Did They Play It was a cakewalk. The wheel is yet again touched by someone, giving us Headling Flight off 2012's Clockwork Angels, as song Jim's seen performed many times. The Drummers of December continues with this, our third drummer of the month, as Chaz N Schatz are joined by Luke "Madman" Manno of Northern Colorado's own Steel Revenge - Your Goodtimes 80's Party Band! Hot damn and fuck yes, it's 80's all night long as Chaz calls his Schatz-Shot and we spin Manhattan Project off 1985's Power Windows and wax nostalgic on all things 80's with Luke. Luke is Rush die-hard from way back, and in classic fashion, he blames his brother for his dependency on our favorite Cannuks! Luke is a drummer, a sound engineer, and an all-around great guy from a very musical family back East. Musical memories past and present, bands that have been a part of Luke's journey, as well as a forgotten bass player (apologies to our own Gary!) On January 6th, 1949 Lauren Bacall gave birth to their first child, Stephen Humphrey Bogart, named in honor of his character in To Have and Have Not. Meanwhile Bogart made Knock on Any Door and Tokyo Joe for his Santana Productions company. Both were moderately panned by critics. In 1950 he made Chain Lightning for Warner Brothers and In A Lonely Place for Santana. In A Lonely Place sees Bogart star as Dixon Steele, a troubled, violence-prone screenwriter suspected of murder. Gloria Grahame co-stars as Laurel Gray, his neighbor who soon falls for Dix. The film is considered among Bogart's best and perhaps a character with personality traits most like the real man. It was among a trio of films released that year, along with Sunset Boulevard and All About Eve, which comment on the dark side of Hollywood. Simultaneously, Bogart and Bacall looked for a vehicle on radio for their talents. Santana Productions partnered with the Frederic W. Ziv Company to develop a series called Bold Venture. It would be written by Morton Fine and David Friedkin, who famously wrote for Broadway is My Beat and Crime Classics. Bogart had long interest in starring in his own series, but had resisted due to the constraints of live radio. By 1950, due to widespread transcription, that was no longer an issue. He could do the show in takes and have music and sound effects added later. Three or four shows a week could be done, leaving Bogart and Bacall free for the rest of the year. Bogart plays Slate Shannon, hotel owner and owner of a boat called the "Bold Venture." Bacall, plays Sailor Duval, and Jester Hairson plays calypso singer King Moses. Shannon, based out of Havana, is always ready to rescue a friend in need or hunt down an enemy. Seventy-eight thirty minute shows were produced. The first show aired on March 26th, 1951. The Ziv Company distributed the series, putting up twelve-thousand dollars per episode. Bogart and Bacall were each paid four-thousand-dollars per show. Four-hundred twenty-three stations bought the series, paying weekly fees to Ziv ranging from fifteen dollars for small stations to seven-hundred-fifty dollars for big ones. Newsweek noted that although the series was set in Havana, it could just have easily been in Casablanca. While the series was first airing, the Bogarts were in Africa. Humphrey was set to star opposite Kathryn Hepburn in The African Queen.

This week, composer and educator Iain Carnegie joins us to talk about his favorite Rush song, Chain Lightning. Iain dissects Chain Lightning in a manner befitting his teaching position at the Royal College of Music in London--which is to say you'll learn how the song is arranged, why chord voicings are central to the song's tone, and about something called "the devil's interval." Iain also hosts a great podcast called Politics of Sound, where he interviews Members of Parliament and other well-known political figures about their favorite albums.

(0:00) Show Open: How To Avoid Catching the Virus There's an article going around right now from a biologist at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth that breaks down the risks of coronavirus infection from different activities. It's really important info to have as people start ending their quarantines, whether the country is ready for that or not. The big takeaways are: The riskiest time is when you're in an indoor space with poor ventilation and people are talking, singing, yelling, or sneezing and coughing. It's that prolonged exposure that can lead to lots of infections. Only one outbreak has happened in an outdoor environment so far. And social distancing and wearing a mask works because it protects you from exposures in brief situations or outdoor situations. One . . . we're stocking up on stuff that's hard to get or that we want to grab while it's on sale. And two . . . online shopping is one of the big ways we're coping and improving our mood. New to InObscuria? Typically what we do is exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In the case of this particular episode, we are leaning towards the FORGOTTEN. Although, a band that is fifth behind The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, KISS, and Aerosmith for the most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band in the United States is hardly forgotten… In any case, we are paying tribute to one of the greatest drummers of all time! Rest In Peace Neil. Neste episódio, Balbi, Sembiano e BraveSword recebem o lendário Claudio Pozas, ilustrador e escritor para a Wizards of the Coast na linha do Dungeons & Dragons 5e. In this episode, the true miracle romance of the show, the most popular ship of the fleet, BREAKS UP! That's right -- it's the end of Venus/Jupiter! That's right, when they both go for the same man (sort of?) that beatiful love is no more... but new attacks are born! Erika Chappell is back with us to mourn this loss! Send us your dental tips on twitter @SailorBusiness or through email at sailorbusinesspodcast@gmail.com! And, as always--thanks for supporting the Sailor Business Patreon... it makes all this possible!
On this episode of Solely Singleton Brad and Eric continue to discuss cheap cards they would add to The Board Game Cube or The CK Cube. The guys start off with a quick “State of the Podcast” discussion and explain what seasons mean for the listeners.
In this episode we talk about the Warhammer Fest 2018 news, Gaslands (again), Drummer Matt's messing about with Fez, Destiny 2, and much more, probably. Wib even speaks about Enterprise. He has no shame. Emails to: onlydrummermattatsnipeandwib@gmail.com

Ren: Started on Argus campaign with rogue (as predicted) Still playing Diablo 3 but having some repetitive motion injury issues with right hand Ditched Bagnon for ArkInventory Pleased with TV appearance on THE DEAD FILES - and cancelled Sling (HDTV antenna works great - between that and Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football, Giants season is saved!) Caught 3rd eagle this week Mike: Argus! Wait, it’s only one chapter? Can’t do the dungeon yet What’s this cloth? Spoilers! Chests everywhere Couldn’t get enough items for the i880 gear (not that I need it) Mobs aren’t that hard to kill. What’s with the eye quest? 20% more damage in/out? Some guy’s been buying my stuff on the AH and not making a profit Uldaman Tomb of Sargeras w/Ali This Week in Wow One word: Argus Next week: Mac’Aree zone opens, unlock Invasion Points, and a questline to open Greater Invasion Points that can drop 930 gear. For those who aren’t into Argus, it’s Cataclysm Timewalking. The Archaeology reward for next 2 weeks is a toy called the Crystalline Eye of Undravius, which lets you look around and see invisible NPCs as demons or changes existing NPCs into demons for 15 seconds (apparently Khadgar is a succubus). If you’re a toy collector or are after your 8 archaeology quests for a new artifact tint, go for it. Collecting 300 toys will get you a mount, the Mechanized Lumber Extractor. 7.3 News Nightfallen reputation requirements removed from several Suramar quests, making it possible to complete the Suramar campaign without reputation gates. Undocumented changes Artifact catch-up for alts: Artifact Knowledge now starts at 41 regardless of book Removes Class Hall Campaign for third relic slot Removes Broken Shore campaign to unlock Empowered Traits Higher drop rate for artifact appearances, and you can get them for artifacts you own that you aren’t currently using (off spec) I880 Relinquished Gear no longer available to purchase with Nethershards. Completing opening Broken Shore scenario on one character is required to unlock Argus Reduced requirements for Breaching the Tomb - example, you only need 50 Mark of Sentinax instead of 100 Timewalking dungeon loot starts at 880, and Black Temple timewalking loot starts at 930. Lots of Tomb of Sargeras changes - mostly nerfs Nomi Work Orders can now yield Broken Islands Recipe Scrap (drop rate lower than Nomi Snacks). 10 scraps = one undiscovered recipe Fishing Round the Isles achievement now requires 20 world fishing quests, not all of them Levitating players can now jump Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning updated animations were not implemented. Apparently they got bad reviews on the PTR. Two new class hall follower catch-up items added to Warmage Kathleen at Deliverance Point: Grimoire of Lost Knowledge (adds 6000 XP to follower for 2500 nethershards) and Relinquished Armor Set (sets champion iLevel to 880 for 400 nethershards) New missions for followers may be related to a new side quest, available to players after completing the An Offering of Light main quest series. These side quests unlock a new type of troop or missions that offer new follower equipment Helpful toy: Sightless Eye (not to be confused with the Sightless Eye currency) - makes you much less detectable to mobs on Argus or Broken Shore for 10 minutes, with a 5 minute cooldown. Any damage, including falling damage, breaks this. (Or just make a rogue) Diablification #1: Antaen Light-Bringer in the first part of Argus -- after the first few quests, you join Kil’jaeden and Prophet Velen to destroy a siege weapon that looks like a large green portal of some type Spoiler: it pops up and it’s a big mob Ren: Recognized this IMMEDIATELY because it looks almost exactly like a mob called the Realmwalker in the Battlefields of Eternity level in Act IV of D3, who is a giant mob who hides in the ground with a big portal eye on his head. Knew what was going to happen
