Reality hits hard in the Big 12.West Virginia learned that lesson over the weekend as its perfect home-court run came to an end against a talented — and deceptive — Baylor team that arrived with just one league win. In this conference, it doesn't matter who you play or where you play. Anyone can get you.So… what now?The challenges only ramp up with a Thursday night trip to Cincinnati, followed by a Super Bowl Sunday showdown at home against nationally ranked Texas Tech.In this episode, the “Guys” break down what went wrong in Saturday's loss to Baylor, look ahead to a demanding week, and recap the WVU women's impressive victory over Baylor in a clash of nationally ranked teams.Listener questions and comments wrap up the show.
In this hour, the guys dive into the latest controversies surrounding New York sports and the NFL offseason. The Yankees & Trent Grisham Saga The show opens with a reaction to Brian Cashman's recent interview, where he doubled down on the Trent Grisham trade and contract. The Debate: Cashman calls the $22 million deal a "steal" in the current market, while the hosts debate if Grisham is merely an expensive insurance policy that blocks younger talent like Jasson Dominguez and Spencer Jones. The Roster Impact: Is Grisham's presence stunting the development of "The Martian," or do the Yankees need veteran depth for a World Series run? Giants Ownership & The Epstein Files The conversation shifts to the reports regarding Giants co-owner Steve Tisch and leaked emails connecting him to Jeffrey Epstein. NFL Discipline: A discussion on whether the league will punish Tisch similarly to how they handled other owner controversies, or if the lack of criminal charges protects him. Future Ownership: Speculation arises on the Koch family's minority stake and if they are positioning themselves to take over a local team in the future. Super Bowl Storylines & The "Boring" Build-Up With the Super Bowl approaching, the hosts struggle to find compelling narratives, leading to a "Top 5 Storylines" list that includes: Sam Darnold's "Middle Finger Tour." Fears of a new Patriots Dynasty. The Seahawks/Patriots revenge narrative. Stefon Diggs winning a ring before Josh Allen. 49ers practice facility conspiracy theories. The Kwesi Adofo-Mensah Firing & Paternity Leave A heated discussion regarding the firing of Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and reports citing his two-week paternity leave during training camp as a point of contention. The Contrast: The hosts compare this to Bills coach Joe Brady's comment about missing his child's birth for a game, ultimately concluding that both approaches are personal choices ("to each his own") rather than fireable offenses. NBA & MLB Notes KAT vs. The Critics: A deep dive into Karl-Anthony Towns' statistics. While he is averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds, the hosts note this is his lowest career field goal percentage and effective field goal percentage, sparking a debate on his All-Star validity vs. Pascal Siakam. Reds Sign Suarez: Reaction to Eugenio Suarez signing with Cincinnati and what that means for the Mets' reliance on Mark Vientos.

This week we're bringing you a powerhouse series of episodes that celebrate some of the most formidable women to ever take the mic on Second Act Stories. These conversations are fueled by bold decisions, hard-won confidence, and the kind of reinvention that only comes after you've lived a little. From breaking the rules to rewriting the script, these women didn't just pivot; they claimed their second acts with clarity, grit, and momentum. Whether you're a longtime listener or tuning in for the first time, these episodes capture the fire at the heart of our show: fearless choices, earned wisdom, and stories that prove it's never too late to bet big on yourself. Ruth Lavigne grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her father was a doctor (a radiologist) and she used to fill-in the date on patient sheets when her dad reviewed their films at home. As Ruth followed her father around his hospital, she always thought "that will be me someday." She ended up studying French in college and then business in graduate school. After marrying, starting a family and relocating to California, she found herself working as a banquet waitress in a San Diego hotel. She enjoyed the work and the flexible schedule which gave her time with two kids. Ruth's dream of becoming a doctor re-emerged one night as she held her oldest daughter Ariel in her arms and told her "you can be anything you want when you grow up." And Ruth thought, "one day this kid is gonna look back up at me say, so you wanted to be a waitress all your life?" With financial help from her parents and childcare support from her in-laws, she went back to school at 31 to take the necessary pre-med coursework. At 36, she returned home and entered medical school at the University of Cincinnati. At 40 she began a four-year residency to become a radiation oncologist. And at 45-years-of age, she finally became Dr. Ruth Lavigne. Ruth's story of persistence and overcoming obstacles is as inspirational as they come. ******* If you enjoy Second Act Stories, please leave us a review here. When the headless body of a pregnant young woman was found across the Ohio River from Cincinnati in 1896, the shock of the discovery was felt far beyond the region. As the story of the young woman was revealed, it became a crime that was tailor-made for the popular culture of the era. The horror of the crime, its characters, and its cause created a melodrama that could only be found in pulp novels -– a villain deflowers a pretty young girl and then murders her to cover up her unplanned pregnancy so that he can continue to live a life of debauchery.Such a tragedy understandably resonated with the public, prompting stories, legends, and even a folk ballad. You see, this tale became a warning to young women of the era to practice chastity and to avoid the mortal sin of abortion, a crime so heinous, religious figures claimed, that the Devil himself had a hand in in its continued existence. Our Sponsors:* Check out BetterHelp: https://www.betterhelp.com* Check out Shopify: https://shopify.com/hauntings* Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code HAUNTINGS for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/american-hauntings-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Have you ever gone hunting... in the Bible? We're not talking about hunting for a verse - I know you've done that. There are insights in the Word of God that are like deer walking around in a forest, to borrow a picture from Augustine. We'll never see them if we're not looking for them carefully, and if our souls are not still. The Cincinnati Bengals' biggest needs in free agency this offseason center squarely on fixing what went wrong in 2025, particularly on defense and the trenches, and making sure Joe Burrow is protected and supported as the team looks to return to contention in 2026. 1. Defensive Pass Rush & Defensive Line Cincinnati's defense was among the worst in the NFL, and the pass rush was a primary culprit. With veteran Trey Hendrickson likely to test free agency or leave, the Bengals will need to bring in multiple edge rushers or interior disruptors to generate pressure and improve sack production. Analysts suggest targeting veterans or quality starters to rebuild that front seven alongside young pieces. 2. Linebacker Leadership & Run Defense Linebacker play was inconsistent, and adding a proven, tackling-savvy veteran could stabilize the unit and mentor younger players. Rumored targets like Demario Davis have popped up as potential fits to add leadership and tackling reliability. 3. Secondary Help (Safety/DB Depth) The secondary has been shaky for years, especially after losing key contributors and with potential departures looming. Adding a play-maker or reliable veteran safety should be on the Bengals' list, complementing a corner group that has some talent but lacks depth. 4. Interior Offensive Line (Guard Help & Protection) While the Bengals fortified their offense around Burrow with extensions for his top receivers, the offensive line—especially at guard—remains a concern. Protecting Burrow and improving the run game will likely necessitate targeting quality interior offensive linemen in free agency or re-signing key contributors such as Dalton Risner. 5. Depth on Run Defense (DT) and Overall Front Seven Run defense rankings were poor, and adding size and disruption inside—whether at defensive tackle or versatile linemen—should be a priority to keep opposing ground games in check. Overall, the Bengals have cap space to be active, and while offense remains strong, biggest offseason focus in free agency will plausibly be defensive upgrades and offensive line reinforcement to balance the roster and give Cincinnati a chance to compete again. The Disciples got prime teaching, but they also became prime targets. We imagine what it must have been like, to be a Disciple; to see those miracles with our own eyes, to hear Jesus' parables and their explanations. But we must include in our daydream the persecution of the Twelve. Satan wasn't going to take the assault on his kingdom lying down! The Bald Prince and His Tall Knight Make Perfect Travel Companions This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl are talking about the new GOT spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. And Wonderman Episode 1. All this and… some Brandon Sanderson news. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 Sanderson: 8:45 Wonderman: 19:00 Dunk & Egg: 35:07 Brandon Sanderson's Literary Fantasy Universe ‘Cosmere' Picked Up by Apple TV (Exclusive) https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/brandon-sandersons-mistborn-stormlight-archive-movie-tv-1236487271/ Wonderman (Disney+) Episode 1 – “Matinee” (Premiere) Episode 1 introduces us to Simon Williams (played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a struggling actor and stuntman whose career is in a tailspin. After being fired from a TV role and dumped by his girlfriend, Simon is at a crossroads. When he runs into Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), a fellow actor with an eccentric reputation, he learns Slattery is auditioning for a remake of the classic superhero film Wonder Man — a movie Simon loved as a kid and which inspired him to pursue acting in the first place. Simon pushes for a shot at the role, but his agent refuses. Undeterred, he somehow lands an audition alongside Slattery anyway. Slattery gives him advice that helps him make an impression. Meanwhile, Department of Damage Control agent P. Cleary secretly contacts Slattery with instructions to watch Simon closely because he might have actual superpowers, tying Simon's acting ambitions to real-world MCU stakes. This episode sets up two parallel arcs: Simon's Hollywood hustle and dream of stardom, and the hint that he may be more than just an actor, potentially linking him to actual superhero abilities and the broader Marvel universe. Tone-wise, Episode 1 blends industry satire, comedy, and superhero setup, spotlighting the absurdities of Hollywood while weaving in classic MCU connective tissue. Ratings: Out of 5 Here’s a Note For You… Get Out Darryl: 3.75/5 Brian: 3.8/5 A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (HBO Max) Episode 1 – “The Hedge Knight” This premiere introduces Dunk (Ser Duncan the Tall) and Egg (the boy who becomes his squire), setting up the tone and stakes for the series. It takes place about 100 years before Game of Thrones and focuses on a smaller-scale story full of character and humor rather than sweeping war and politics. Here's what happens: Dunk buries his mentor, Ser Arlan of Pennytree, and takes his sword, shield, and three horses as he heads toward the Ashford tourney, hoping to make his name and find work. At an inn, he meets a young bald boy who asks to be his squire. After initially refusing, Dunk ultimately accepts him and names the boy Egg. At Ashford, Dunk tries to enter the tournament but learns he needs someone reputable to vouch for him. He seeks out knights who knew Ser Arlan, but nobody will put their name on the line for a wandering hedge knight. Along the way we see the rough, earthy humor and grounded Westerosi world the show is leaning into (including some decidedly human moments missing from prior franchise entries). By the end, Dunk officially becomes Ser Duncan the Tall, and he and Egg share a moment under the stars, signaling the start of their journey together. Tone note: it's lighter and more character-focused than Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, blending heartfelt moments with gritty, grounded humor. Episode 2 – “Hard Salt Beef” In the second episode, Dunk's quest to enter the Ashford tourney continues and the story expands slightly into the world's wider politics and personality. Key beats: Dunk spends much of the episode telling other knights about his mentor Ser Arlan, trying to get someone to vouch for him so he can compete, but keeps getting brushed off. Egg helps by pointing out the unfairness of Dunk needing permission when he's already a knight, showing how their dynamic is evolving. Members of House Targaryen arrive at the tourney — princes including Baelor, Maekar, and Aerion — and their presence adds weight to the event. Dunk overhears a conversation about missing Targaryen children and uses the moment (and a bit of boldness) to appeal directly to Prince Baelor to vouch for him. Baelor does remember Ser Arlan and, while not lavish in praise, quietly ensures Dunk's name is added to the tournament list. Dunk and Egg also start to settle more into the tourney rhythm — from watching performances to joining in games — as Dunk grapples with what legacy and honor really mean in this world. This episode deepens the relationship between Dunk and Egg, introduces more of Westeros's nobility (in a relatively casual, grounded way), and frames Dunk's struggles not just to fight but to matter. Quick Character & World Context Dunk and Egg are adapted from the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas by George R.R. Martin. The series is intentionally smaller in scale, focusing on relationships and the everyday lives of knights and squires rather than epic political wars or dragons. Joey went down a rabbit hole yesterday about getting a sunburn or tan in the winter. He didn’t realize that the UV rays could still be strong when it’s not hot outside. Karly pointed out that he always says to be careful on cool summer days because you can still get burnt... He denied this. Nancy went to a networking event and had to do icebreakers to get to know people. Usually they are boring, but this one was fun! She and her table had to make a playlist of songs that described them. Nancy recommended a Jelly Roll song, and it led to her talking about how her 87-year-old dad has started getting tattoos. Hot Tea: A documentary about Lainey Wilson is coming soon to Netflix. The highest streamed show of 2025 was Bluey. Kendall Jenner called Tom Brady while on the Jimmy Fallon Show to talk about The Super Bowl. Joey’s wife loves to take freebies from hotels. Recently, she really liked the shampoo in the bathroom, but it was attached to the wall. Her solution was to pump a bunch of it into a coffee cup and take that home with her. A Cincinnati snowplow driver escorted an ambulance through a snowstorm to help a sick baby get to the hospital. Lucky 7 for $50 to the Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants TDOT spent over $2 MILLION dollars to treat the roads with brine and salt ahead of last weekend’s winter weather. Apparently, we may be getting snow this weekend. Joey wished he would’ve known that before he canceled his electric snow shovel order. The Bengals are entering a pivotal period for locking up key young talent, and Chase Brown is at the top of that list. After a breakout season with over 1,300 scrimmage yards and continued production, Brown has publicly expressed his desire to stay in Cincinnati long-term while his agent and the team have been in ongoing communication about a new contract. Historically, Cincinnati has waited to extend players until they've proven themselves—and often until prices inflate, as seen with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins—but Brown seems positioned to be part of that core moving forward. Getting a deal done now could be mutually beneficial: stability for the team and financial security for Brown before he hits unrestricted free agency. For Dax Hill, the situation is slightly different. The Bengals exercised his fifth-year option for the 2026 season, keeping him under contract through next year. That move shows organizational belief in his upside after a position switch from safety to cornerback, despite an ACL injury. Hill's extension may not come immediately this offseason—teams often wait to see a full season of production before committing significant new money—but his late-season performance in 2025 could push the Bengals toward long-term talks instead of reaching for a cornerback in the draft. DJ Turner has arguably the strongest case for an early extension among the three. After a career-best 2025 campaign highlighted by high PFF grades, pass breakups, and interceptions, Turner looks like a foundational piece of the Bengals' defense. He's expressed a clear desire to stay long term, and team insiders expect extension talks to start soon. With contracts for Brown and Turner both in play, the Bengals' front office will need to balance cap flexibility with locking down homegrown contributors in the coming months. Another day, another high of 14° today. It's Thursday, so that means we asked each other Hypothetical questions. Brian's question was the classic "Trolley dilemma" Jean's was: "Would you rather be completely alone all the time or have people around all the time?" Also on Thursdays, we talk to Office Cora to find out what she's up to in the 715 this weekend. Today, she also recapped her experience at last weekend's Riverfront Revolt. In the news this morning, a candidate for Governor of WI has dropped out of the race, a lawsuit involving Costco's rotisserie chicken, a recall on Gerber biscuits, and UPS is cutting a bunch of jobs nationwide. In sports, the Badgers overcame a 20-point deficit to beat the Gophers last night, the Bucks are in Washington tonight, Giannis trade rumors are starting to really heat up with the NBA trade deadline looming, the Browns have hired a new head coach, and another golfer is leaving LIV and heading back to the PGA tour. We talked about what's on TV today/tonight and discussed Neilsen's 2025 year-end streaming numbers. A guy in Wisconsin was rescued by some strangers after he fell through the ice on a lake while trying to ice fish, and a snowplow driver cleared the way for a woman to get her baby to the hospital in Cincinnati during a snow storm. Elsewhere in sports, the Duke QB officially transfers to Miami, the giant amount of money expected to be wagered on the Super Bowl, and a "cursed" NBA game!!! Google recently released some stats on what kind of winter-related searches were popular during the last few weeks, and a viral jingle for Dr. Pepper has inspired many other people to try and create jingles for their favorite sodas. And in today's episode of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who cut off his own foot to get into medical school, a substitute teacher in Las Vegas who got fired after using the N-word during a class, a bunch of sewage is flowing into the Potomac River and creating a "geyser of poop", a #FloridaMan who was trying to toughen up his kid, and another #FloridaMan who was banging his vacuum in the middle of the street in broad daylight.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A "superstar" is what Jesus refused to be. The crowds were coming to see a show. Standing-room-only crowds. The kind of multitudes that any ministry would love to have. But the Lord shut that down, hard. He wasn't trying to gain an audience to watch, listen, and get a free sandwich on the way out. Christ was after commitment. Everything He said and did made a claim on our lives. And that's not the road to celebrity; it's the road to the Cross. Patti and the Pottymouth warm up with some baseball talk and hot toddies after attempting to shovel the snowcrete encrusting our respective sidewalks. We profile players from Detroit and Cincinnati, stops on our still theoretical epic midwestern summer road trip. For Detroit, Pottymouth goes for bounce in the clubhouse and Patti leans into small town kid makes good. In Cincinnati, Pottymouth picks an energizer bunny/family man and Patti selects a utility player who grew up in Angels stadium. We appreciate PCA demonstrating excellent cross-training tendencies and celebrate José Ramírez locking in the Guardians for life. Winter ball demonstrates that more teams need dogs and Pottymouth loves to say “Anzoátegui.” And no episode can go by without a reference to a salary cap. Please help shovel out your neighbors and build some community in the process. We say, “Tito tells me to do something, I'm there,” “the takeaway here is more teams need dogs,” and, “I did the bare minimum, including breaking my ergonomic snow shovel.” Fight the man, send your game balls to Meredith, get boosted, and find us on Bluesky @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. God's New Thing is not going to fit in your old religious box! Jesus said that He had not come to abolish God's Law, but to fulfill it. Human traditions, on the other hand - oh, those have got to go. And some of those traditions seemed pretty sacred and solid, like the customs that had accreted around fasting and the Sabbath. They were opportunities for the King to illustrate how the new Kingdom works. Here's Jim at Mark chapter 2, verse 18. The Pittsburgh Steelers have reached a verbal agreement to hire Mike McCarthy as their next head coach, succeeding long-time leader Mike Tomlin, who stepped down after 19 seasons. McCarthy, a Pittsburgh native with 18 seasons of NFL head-coaching experience — including a Super Bowl victory with the Green Bay Packers — brings a veteran presence to a franchise that rarely changes coaches. His hiring marks only the fourth head coach in Steelers history since 1969, a significant shift from their traditional approach of younger, first-time head coaches. For the Cincinnati Bengals and the AFC North more broadly, this hire changes several key dynamics. First, McCarthy's offensive pedigree — having developed elite quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott — suggests the Steelers may become more competitive on offense sooner rather than later. That bump in offensive creativity could intensify divisional matchups with the Bengals, who have seen success in recent years behind Joe Burrow's playmaking. A resurgent Steelers offense could mean closer Steelers-Bengals games and more pressure in the division standings. Second, McCarthy's arrival adds unpredictability. Pittsburgh's quarterback situation remains fluid — especially with Aaron Rodgers' future uncertain — and McCarthy's history with veteran quarterbacks could influence Rodgers to return or attract another experienced signal-caller. If that happens, the Bengals — who have often battled Pittsburgh for AFC North supremacy — may face a rejuvenated rival. Finally, coaching changes often shift divisional psychology. Where the Bengals have had recent edge in continuity, the Steelers under McCarthy will be retooling schemes and culture. This could either temporarily ease Cincinnati's path or, if McCarthy quickly installs his system, tighten the race for playoff positioning. Overall, McCarthy's hiring doesn't just reshape Pittsburgh's future — it reshapes the competitive landscape the Bengals must navigate in 2026 and beyond. We also talk about how the Brewers came out like bandits in the Freddy Peralta trade and how it's the perfect Brewers trade. We look at the Nats and why they're rebuilding AGAIN and what the Reds could do to benefit from it. Lastly, we dig into the rumors about Eugenio Suarez (YES!) and Austin Hays (BOO!) being linked to the Reds in free agency and why they SHOULDN'T sign Austin Hays AGAIN! Jesus starts an argument! The author of the second Gospel apparently had never met the greeting-card version of the Savior: the "gentle Jesus" who finds merit in all religious ideas. No, Mark tells us of a Christ who liked to stir things up. He wanted us to know the truth, and that required Him to expose falsehood - especially sanctimonious falsehoods. The reality behind this argument is central to Jesus' ministry - and it is shocking. When you hear "ferocious", you might think a wild animal attacking it's prey (or maybe your aunt when she doesn't have her morning coffee). But what if that's actually the way Jesus wants us to pray? You have an enemy that's ferocious. This week, Chuck Mingo shows us why and how we can partner with Jesus to take the fight back to him. Recorded live at Crossroads Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Śrī Advaita Ācārya's place is indicative of how the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement starts. It's a small place out in the countryside, and anyone can start a Kṛṣṇa conscious wave from anywhere. How is it done? Advaita Ācārya's penchant is for presenting the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is. Many people present the Bhagavad-gītā, but then they give some mal‑interpretation. They say Kurukṣetra means “the senses.” They say Kṛṣṇa doesn't really mean Kṛṣṇa when He says “surrender unto Me”; it just means “surrender to the unborn within Kṛṣṇa,” whatever the heck that means—which ultimately means you can do whatever you want. Advaita Ācārya—and the reason He's called Ācārya—is because He teaches the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is. It's from this place that He would hold forth every day and speak the truth of the Bhagavad-gītā. And people would come to His class. So this is what we can do also. Someone might say, “Oh, I don't have any service. What can I do?” It's like: Do you have a Bhagavad-gītā As It Is? Anyone? If not, see me afterwards. If you have a Bhagavad-gītā, (better you have a few boxes) invite some people to your house. And what will you give them to eat? Śāk. Give them a little śāk and fried cream. If you give nice prasādam, people will come—even if they don't like philosophy. When we first started, Nirākulā and I began a program at our house that went for sixteen years, and we had people come over every week. When it first started, I was putting together some very simple prasādam. We had dates and mascarpone cheese and just a few little snack‑like things. And we were getting, you know, one person, three people, five people. And then Nirākulā started cooking all of everyone's favorites—pies, macaroni and cheese—and then all of a sudden we couldn't fit everybody in the house. Then I realized the formula for the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement: If you cook, they will come. And then if you have a discussion on the Bhagavad-gītā, even if you don't know the philosophy well, that's okay. It's written down. You just read it and discuss it, and a magic happens—and that is, people's hearts change when they hear that actually God is a person, and we're sparks of that person. We're also persons, just like Kṛṣṇa. We're His expansions, and we're also His servants, and there is service to do. Chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa is the Yuga‑dharma—simple things—and people suddenly feel aligned, like, “Yes, I can do this too.” And yes, you can, from any little spot—wherever you might live, out in the country or in the middle of a big city. If you hold a Bhagavad-gītā class, then people will come, and the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement will start anew from your place. Because it's the vibration that comes from the Bhagavad-gītā, as presented by Advaita Ācārya that actually sustains the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement. It has nothing to do with our infrastructure. You can have brick and mortar here, there, and everywhere, but unless you have the vibration of the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is, you don't have anything different from the downtown buildings you find in Minneapolis, Minnesota, or Cincinnati, Ohio—any other place; they're all the same. What defines a realm is the sound vibration of that realm, and what defines our lives is the sound vibration that we take in on a daily basis.
