Joe Burrow becomes the ultimate Jets quarterback fantasy as Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber debate whether New York should abandon the draft gamble and go all-in on a proven franchise star if Cincinnati ever makes him available. The Aaron Rodgers pursuit is defended as the right idea despite the disastrous result, while the Jets' endless search for a long-term quarterback remains the franchise's biggest problem. The conversation also turns to Darren Mougey passing on Jaxson Dart and Tyler Shough, whether the Jets should have traded up in the second round, and why drafting a young quarterback immediately starts the clock on a new regime. Plus, the Mets' painful Pete Crow-Armstrong trade resurfaces as another brutal New York what-if.

The Jets' endless quarterback search takes center stage as Joe Burrow emerges as the dream solution if Cincinnati ever makes him available. Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber debate why trading premium draft capital for a proven franchise quarterback could beat taking another swing in the draft, while weighing Jalen Hurts, Baker Mayfield and the Jets' missed opportunities with Jaxson Dart and Tyler Shough. The conversation also turns to the Yankees taking three of four from Boston, Red Sox broadcaster Will Fleming's apology after ripping Jazz Chisholm, and whether Aaron Boone showed enough urgency. Plus, the Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. expectations, a wild Super Bowl prediction, and the Jets' long history of first-round disappointments.

Rick Stroud and Steve Versnick dig into one of the more improbable quarterback stories in franchise history: undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels beating out Jake Browning and Connor Bazelak to become Baker Mayfield's backup. Rick traces just how rare this is — the last rookie the Bucs handed the QB2 job to was Mike Glennon back in 2013 — and walks through how a three-star recruit out of Kansas who went undrafted turned heads in joint practices against the Jets and Chiefs, then got an extended (and rocky) look against Jacksonville's twos and threes before locking down the job anyway. They debate what the call says about Browning, whether the coaching staff may have stumbled onto Baker Mayfield's eventual successor given how similar their games are, and run through the rest of the roster cuts — including Chris Braswell's release and moves along both lines — before previewing the two-week runway to the season opener at Cincinnati. Then it's over to the Rays, who somehow won two of the strangest games of their season against the Padres — a shortstop's non-contact knee injury on an errant throw home that flipped one game, and a bizarre would-be series-ending catch-and-drop in left field that got ruled a home run and reignited the "what actually is a catch" debate — before pulling out the extra-innings finale on a Liam Hicks throw that nailed a runner at third. The sweep pushes Tampa Bay to 82-54, four and a half games up on the Yankees. Rick and Steve also dig into the latest on the Rays' "forever home": with Tampa City Council and Hillsborough County's approval in hand, the next steps are bond filings (30 to 90 days) and prepping Hillsborough Community College for portable classrooms, plus why this ownership group's commitment to staying in Tampa feels different than the Stu Sternberg era ever did. Americans lead the industrialized world in belief in creationism and a literal Bible. A study by the University of Cincinnati compared Americans' belief in a recent creation and the truth of the Bible with beliefs in other countries. The study found that 45 percent of Americans believe that God created the world less than 10,000 years ago. Another 40 percent try to mix God and evolution. Only ten percent believe in atheistic evolution. In comparison, only seven percent of the citizens of Great Britain take the Genesis account of creation literally. Surveys of people in Norway, Russia and the Netherlands produced results similar to Great Britain. Interestingly, five percent of the physical scientists polled in the United States believe the account of creation as taught in the Bible. The study concluded that America is losing its scientific competitiveness because so many Americans believe in creation and the truth of the Bible. But scientific progress has come about because historically, scientists believed that we live in an ordered creation that follows the rules imposed on it by a Creator. They saw science as the discovery of God's order. Isaac Newton wrote more Bible commentaries than he did scientific books. Taking the Bible literally, he concluded that the earth was less than 7,000 years old. Other examples from history could be multiplied. But the lesson of human history is that true scientific progress is possible only when man recognizes that all knowledge and wisdom come from our Creator God through the Scriptures He has given us.1 Corinthians 1:25"Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”Prayer: Dear Father, help me never to be deceived by man's false wisdom. Help me to rejoice in the knowledge You give. Amen.Ref: Americans for Creationism, The Christian News. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1232/29?v=20251111

TCU football got off to a brutal start in Week Zero, falling to North Carolina in Dublin, and Bigger Than 12 is breaking down everything that went wrong. Jake Brend and Derek Duke examine TCU's lack of discipline, costly penalties, offensive struggles, and the disappointing debut of quarterback Jaden Craig. The guys debate how much blame belongs on Craig, the offensive line, and TCU's receivers, while also giving credit to a TCU defense that held North Carolina to just 15 points and under 100 rushing yards. They also discuss whether this loss says something bigger about Sonny Dykes, who is now facing increased pressure after failing to consistently get the Horned Frogs back to the level they reached during their College Football Playoff run. Plus, Jake and Derek revisit the growing "Ireland curse" and argue whether Big 12 teams should continue playing Week Zero games in Dublin. They also look ahead to the rest of the opening weekend, including Baylor vs. Auburn, Cincinnati vs. Boston College, and Colorado vs. Georgia Tech, before making their picks and discussing the Big 12's early-season outlook. Rick and Steve also dig into an eyebrow-raising development at quarterback: with Baker Mayfield and Trevor Lawrence getting the bulk of the joint-practice reps, it was Jalon Daniels — not veteran Jake Browning — taking the number two snaps, and Rick walks back some of his own skepticism about whether the undrafted rookie has already locked down the backup job. Plus, Tristan Wirfs is back in pads and looking like himself, which both hosts agree makes him the best player on the roster. They also break down the massive stadium news on deck — Tampa's city council voting today and Hillsborough County following Friday on the Rays' new ballpark — along with a tour of Jacksonville's chaotic, crane-filled Everbank Stadium construction site ahead of the season opener there. Ken and Lima check in around the division, with Baltimore's Ken Weinman previewing the Ravens' joint practice with Washington and calling Deshaun Watson "delusional" after his post-game press conference, and Cincinnati's Tony Pike breaking down Ja'Marr Chase's hyperextended-knee scare along with a stacked Bengals roster he ranks as Joe Burrow's best yet. Pittsburgh's Chris Mueller previews a crowded quarterback room and a contract standoff with Joey Porter Jr., but it's his blunt take on the Browns that stands out—arguing owner-driven pressure, not football logic, is really behind starting Watson over Sanders. Multiple guests agree Sanders looked better in preseason, setting up a tease for a former NFL QB's theory on why he lost the job anyway.

Rick Stroud reports live from Jacksonville after a joint practice the Bucs would rather forget — Baker Mayfield admitted afterward that "if this was a full game, I don't think we would have come out on the winning side," and Chris Godwin, in his tenth year, called out the team for getting out-physicaled by Liam Cohen's Jaguars. Rick and Steve break down what went wrong, why a wake-up call now beats one in Cincinnati, and the real bright spots buried in a rough day: Tristan Wirfs back in full pads and moving well, Rueben Bain Jr. continuing to wreck practice reps, and Benjamin Morrison finally getting through a complete practice for the first time in ages. They also preview Friday's preseason finale against the Jaguars and the roster crunch coming this weekend as the Bucs cut from 90 to 53.On the Rays, Tampa Bay's AL East remains at 3.5 games after a 4-1 loss to Detroit, with Rick and Steve digging into the tiebreaker math that still favors the Rays down the stretch, a remarkable stat line from an opposing starter who didn't get a single swing-and-miss in over 80 pitches against Tampa Bay's contact-heavy lineup, and what the Rays need from their rotation to hold on. When Your "Dream Job" Isn't What You Thought: Finding Career Alignment in Wildlife Conservation: Interview with Dylan Karl

Have you been applying and applying to wildlife jobs or experiences only to hear nothing back? That's exactly what happened to Dylan Karl despite having a degree from a prestigious university specializing in wildlife, a Master's degree, years of experience, and a wildlife biologist certification from The Wildlife Society. Dylan had seemingly everything, yet, he was applying to 30-50 jobs every season, but nothing was landing. Dylan's story is even more unique. Dylan was one of my Successful Wildlife Professional students, and when I first started working with him, he was working in a wildlife job, but unhappy. He felt that although he was technically involved in wildlife work mitigating damage at airports, he wasn't having the impact he wanted, and felt like he was spending a lot more time killing wildlife rather than saving it. So Dylan decided to join the Successful Wildlife Professional program and get help. And it paid off almost instantly! Within two months of the program, he applied for and got his dream job of working with Mexican wolves. This was a huge win and we were both so excited for his future! Because of these incredible results, I knew I had to have him on the Fancy Scientist podcast to share. But when I interviewed him, I was surprised he was no longer working there! It turns out that his story took an unexpected turn. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for reality to not match up with expectations in our field… Dylan had always imagined himself as a bridge between wildlife and people, helping manage conflict and promote coexistence. But what he thought was a non-lethal position in Arizona turned out to not be so non-lethal after all, due to pressure from ranchers pushing for the lethal removal of federally protected wolves. This didn't sit right with him, and that misalignment caused him to rethink what he actually wanted out of his career.Luckily, he had the tools he learned from the Successful Wildlife Professional to lean back on. He used the trainings on understanding the jobs and workplaces and personal exercises to uncover his own desires and strengths to re-identify his dream job. He combined this with the wildlife-specific protocols in the application section to write competitive cover letters and resumes for his new dream path. He now works as a Preserve Management Assistant for the prestigious The Nature Conservancy in northwestern Minnesota, helping to manage approximately 300,000 acres of tallgrass aspen parklands through tools like prescribed burns and seed spreading. Every morning he wakes up feeling like he's taking care of the animals he loves' homes.Dylan also gives a behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to work at the Nature Conservancy and what prescribed fire management actually looks like, including how burning 400 acres of land can transform a smothered wetland into one teeming with native wildflowers, frogs, fish, and water birds just a month later. After the interview, I break down the key takeaways so you can apply them to your own path, including why "proven experience" beats just experience, why knowing your end goal changes everything, and why the workplace you choose matters just as much as the work itself.Specifically, we talk about:Dylan's winding path from watching Steve Irwin as a kid in Cincinnati to managing 300,000 acres with The Nature Conservancy in MinnesotaHis experiences with the Peace Corps, the Cincinnati Zoo, wind turbine curtailment, spotted owl research, and USDA Wildlife ServicesWhat it felt like to be in a position that looked good on paper but isn't aligned with your valuesHow you can still work in wildlife, but not feel like you are following your dream or having the impact you wantThe gap between the Steve Irwin version of a wildlife career and what most wildlife jobs actually look likeWhy sending 30 to 50 applications a season and taking the first offer isn't a career strategyWhat caused Dylan to break through and land his dream job on Mexican wolves within a couple of monthsHow Dylan used The Successful Wildlife Professional to get clear on what he actually wanted and land the Nature Conservancy jobHis tips for landing a job with The Nature Conservancy, including why seasonal positions are the right entry pointHow prescribed fire is used as a conservation tool, and what it's like to return to a burned unit a month later and find it thriving with lifeThe spotted owl courtship behavior story you didn't know you neededAnd more!Jumps Links3:28 Meet Dylan Karl4:50 Dylan's Winding Career Path5:24 Working at The Nature Conservancy6:26 Prescribed Fire & Conservation11:40 Dylan's Education & Background15:25 Peace Corps, Zoo Work & Master's Degree18:45 Working for USDA Wildlife Services22:51 The Non-Lethal Wolf Job That Wasn't24:19 Landing at The Nature Conservancy27:37 Is There a Bait & Switch in Wildlife Careers?31:46 Why Dylan Joined Successful Wildlife Professional32:36 Carpet Bombing Applications & Career Misalignment35:32 Finding His Dream: Habitat Management40:31 A Moment of Success in the Field42:36 What Makes Dylan a Fancy Scientist45:20 The Owl That Defended Her Mate46:49 How to Get a Job at The Nature Conservancy49:18 Is the SWP Program Worth It?Dream of being a wildlife biologist, zoologist, conservation biologist, or ecologist? The 17,000-plus-square-foot video board will be unveiled when Illinois hosts UAB on September 3. The Illini soccer team remains unbeaten after playing UIC to a 0-0 draw Sunday night at Demirjian Park. Illinois is now 1-0-2 on the season after also drawing No. 19 Georgia and defeating Cincinnati. The defense has been excellent, but the question becomes whether the Illini can generate enough offense as the schedule gets tougher. Then it's time to ask the question Bears fans are probably debating after Saturday night's 27-9 loss to Cincinnati: should anyone actually be panicking? The Bears' first-team offense struggled, Caleb Williams went just 2-for-5, the team committed 11 penalties for 81 yards, and Chicago failed to score a touchdown. That's certainly not what fans wanted to see—but it's still the preseason, and there are legitimate reasons to pump the brakes before declaring the season doomed. Finally, we unveil another Random Illini Football Player of the Day, digging into an Illini name that deserves a little more attention as the countdown to the 2026 season continues.

The St. Louis Cardinals suffered one of the most painful losses of the season Sunday, blowing a 4-0 lead in the ninth inning before Kyle Schwarber's two-run walk-off homer gave Philadelphia a 6-4 victory. The loss capped a disappointing 5-6 road trip and dropped the Cardinals to 66-66. So, is the NL Wild Card still realistically in play? Absolutely—but the margin for error is getting smaller. The Cardinals entered the weekend only 3½ games behind the final Wild Card spot, but they're now sitting at .500 while teams such as Arizona, San Diego and Philadelphia remain ahead of them in the race. Arizona's win over Cincinnati kept the Diamondbacks firmly in the mix at 69-62. The bigger concern may be whether St. Louis can survive its pitching situation. Andre Pallante is on the injured list with elbow inflammation, while Hunter Dobbins is also dealing with a forearm issue. The Cardinals will need their pitching depth—and their offense—to hold up over the final weeks. Then it's time for our 2026 NFL Divisional Winners Predictions. We go division by division and make our picks—not necessarily just taking the betting favorite. The current market has Buffalo favored in the AFC East, Baltimore in the AFC North, Houston in the AFC South and Kansas City among the AFC West favorites, while Philadelphia is favored in the NFC East and the NFC West remains particularly interesting after the Rams' offseason addition of Myles Garrett. The fun debate: Which division winner are we most confident in, and which favorite is most likely to get knocked off? The 2026 NFL futures market shows just how tight some of these races could be.

The Prophet Playoff Theory heads to the AFC North, where all four teams enter 2026 with major questions, new leadership and plenty of pressure. First up: The Baltimore Ravens. Jesse Minter takes over as head coach and brings his defensive prowess to a team led by two-time MVP Lamar Jackson. Can Minter get Baltimore's defense back to its dominant ways? Will Derrick Henry finally fall off a cliff, and can the offensive line keep this offense from being its own worst enemy? The Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati can't afford another slow start. Joe Burrow's health remains one of the biggest questions surrounding this team, but for the first time in a while, the Bengals have made major investments in their defense. Can Burrow make it through the entire season, and will the revamped defense finally give Cincinnati the ability to win some low-scoring games when the offense isn't carrying the team? The Cleveland Browns. Cleveland has a decision to make at quarterback, and Rashad and Keven aren't waiting around — they believe Shedeur Sanders should start right away. Can the 2nd year QB take control of the offense and give the Browns a real direction at quarterback? And with Andrew Berry still running the front office, will Cleveland continue to hit on the draft picks needed to build this team back up?The Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike McCarthy is in, and so is Aaron Rodgers for what could be his final NFL season. Is McCarthy's system the perfect fit for this version of Rodgers, or are we asking too much from a 42-year-old quarterback? Can the McCarthy-Rodgers reunion recreate some of that Green Bay magic? And with Mike Tomlin no longer on the sideline, can Pittsburgh still find a way to finish around .500 or better? Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/preach-kev-preach-w-rashad--2977392/support.

Alfredo Brown, Derek Brown and Andrew Erickson break down their six favorite must-draft targets — players they’re willing to take ahead of ADP because they simply don’t want to miss out on them. The guys start with Chase Brown, who could have legitimate top-three RB upside in Cincinnati, before diving into Jalen Waddle and why his move to Denver could unlock a much bigger fantasy season. Then it’s time for Kenneth Walker, a player the guys believe could be one of the biggest league-winning picks of the 2026 fantasy football draft. They also identify three players outside the top 75 who could provide enormous value: Jonathan Brooks, Carnell Tate and Malik Willis. If you're preparing for your 2026 fantasy football draft, these are the players to know, especially if you're looking for targets who can outperform their ADP.
