Jets @ Bills – 00:10:10 Conversation highlights Justin Fields' surprising competence for New York and their clock-control ground game. They praise Josh Allen's 394-yard, 4-TD performance and Keon Coleman's emergence as WR1, calling Buffalo the AFC favorite. Chris recaps Cleveland's unlucky finish, Joe Flacco's mixed outing, and defensive positives, while noting concerns over QB future and rookie RB Judkins' fit. Jaguars @ Bengals – 00:31:04 The hosts refuse to overreact to Cincinnati's early stumble but remain skeptical of Trevor Lawrence's progress, comparing him to Trent Green rather than a top-tier QB. Rams @ Titans – 00:33:29 They praise the Rams' preparedness and Cam Ward's ability to improve despite rough numbers, while noting Tennessee's limited upside without major changes. Patriots @ Dolphins – 00:35:15 Chris and Mario are shocked Miami is only favored by 1.5. They blast Tua's poor play, mention Tyreek Hill's off-field issues, and discuss Mike McDaniel being the odds-on favorite for first coach fired. 49ers @ Saints – 00:39:02 Discussion centers on Brock Purdy's injury, Christian McCaffrey's heavy usage, and Mac Jones' opportunity to elevate his value in Kyle Shanahan's system. Giants @ Cowboys – 00:40:37 They critique Russell Wilson's performance, suggest benching him for Jameis Winston, and expect Dallas' defense to dominate. Steelers vs. Seahawks – 00:43:50 Mario praises Pittsburgh's playmakers, Chris notes the weak run game, and they agree Seattle presents a tougher test than the Jets. Panthers @ Cardinals – 00:46:16 Talk of Arizona's surprisingly solid defense, Marvin Harrison Jr.'s TD, and Kyler Murray's new game-manager style. Broncos @ Colts – 00:48:28 They celebrate Daniel “Indiana” Jones' debut, Tyler Warren's breakout, and predict a Colts win despite Denver's defensive talent.

In 2008, Cincinnati, Ohio, developed the program that has earned it the nickname: Green City. The Green Cincinnati Plan (GCP) is a now-17-year-running community vision updated regularly to address climate change and build a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient future for its citizens. 2008 was also the year that garden/grower by nature and engineer by profession, Rose Henry Seeger, was introduced to the amazing concept of Green Roofs as a way to make architecture integral to a more sustainable and healthy urban future. Green roofs provide positive and healing benefits for both the environment and its people, brought Rose's interest in growing and engineering together. She's never looked back since founding Green City Resources, a Cincinnati-based, woman-owned company specializing in the design, installation, and maintenance of stormwater management systems; bioretention, vegetated / green roofing, rainwater harvesting, and native/sustainable landscaping. Many of their gardens do all of this as well as being healing and horticulture therapy gardens. This is Cultivating Place at elevation. Enjoy! Cultivating Place now has a donate button! We thank you for listening over the years, and we hope you'll continue to support Cultivating Place. We can't thank you enough for making it possible for this young program to grow and engage in even more conversations like these. The show is available as a podcast on SoundCloud and iTunes. RJ Bell, Steve Fezzik and Mackenzie Rivers talk NFL betting for Week 2. NFL Week 2: The Picks Breakdown [RJ Bell] (0:05 - 3:09): “Alright guys, just finished up.” He immediately introduced the night's action, noting a major play on Washington at +3.5 from South Point and +3 at even money elsewhere. His breakdown emphasized confidence in the pick, urging listeners to follow the reasoning provided throughout. He also highlighted Steve Fezzik's hot streak, up 32 units already this season, and A.J. Hoffman's consistent multi-year success. This was used to reinforce credibility and demonstrate sharpness in market reads. [Steve Fezzik] (3:09 - 3:19): “Pick them to win outright.” He argued the bet was justified given the game flow, explaining it would predictably settle within a narrow margin. His comment underscored the razor-thin line between winning and losing in close spreads. [RJ Bell] (3:19 - 3:49): “But, once again, if they would have went for it down on, what was it, like the 15? Yeah, could have had a tie.” He expressed frustration over a coaching decision, pointing to how single calls can swing results. The implication was that bettors often find value or heartbreak in these fine margins. [RJ Bell] (3:52 - 3:59): “But, we almost won in the first half.” He reflected on momentum swings, stressing how first-half edges can foreshadow outcomes. His excitement revealed how bettors savor small victories even when final results turn. [Steve Fezzik] (3:59 - 4:10): “Nothing is better than betting like a baseball first five and then watching your team get their teeth kicked in.” His analogy showed the gambler's paradox—sometimes the bet is safe despite later collapses. This framed the unpredictability of sports betting as both painful and exhilarating. [RJ Bell] (4:11 - 4:39): “All right.” He explained their betting breakdown: two dimes split, with one having no vig. This transparency gave insight into bankroll strategy and why certain plays carry less risk. [Steve Fezzik] (4:39 - 4:42): “If you're listening during the summer, you won the Cincinnati under 46.” He referenced past success, reinforcing the credibility of sharp picks on season totals. [RJ Bell] (4:42 - 4:58): “By the way, Fez, I thought you were a little, let's just say, much about Seattle losing.” His pushback highlighted accountability in analysis. The back-and-forth emphasized how handicappers debate variance versus bad beats, reflecting broader conversations among bettors. [Steve Fezzik] (5:02 - 5:10): “Yeah, but I liked the spot.” He defended his position, showing conviction in handicapping angles beyond raw results. This reinforced how context matters more than outcome in evaluating a pick. Key Takeaways Player and Team Stats: The discussion referenced Washington's spread value, Seattle's underdog position, and Cincinnati's win total under 46. These stats were central to their betting angles, showing how sharp bettors exploit lines beyond just wins and losses. Strategic Insights: The speakers revealed how bankroll management (splitting dimes, avoiding vig) and situational angles (coaching calls, first-half strength) shape betting success. Implications: Their commentary stressed that variance and razor-thin spreads define the betting landscape, where judgment, timing, and discipline matter more than hindsight complaints. This week's Huskers Happy Hour was live last night, and now you can enjoy the recorded show either in video or audio-only form! This week is obviously party time, anxiety-free, after a 68-0 thrashing of the Akron Zips which had shades of the early 80's Scoring Explosion - literally, as I will explain. Of course, we'll run through the offensive fireworks. Dylan Raiola quickly made the grousers forget about the low yards/attempt output against Cincinnati, Emmett broke some big runs and we got to see his backups. But credit will also be given to the defense after notching the Blackshirts' 1st shutout in 26 years. Special teams stepped up as well and we could be looking at another such performance against a Houston Christian team who would be +13 underdog against Akron. So pour your favorite cold one, tune in and jump in the comments with your thoughts tonight - Go Big Red!

On this episode of the Chuck Toddcast, Chuck reflects on the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk and what it reveals about the tinderbox state of American politics. He explores how escalating rhetoric, dehumanization, and the amplification of fringe anger online have fueled a culture where violence replaces politics—and where children are left grieving the consequences. From the role of algorithms in supercharging extremism to the failure of leaders and tech companies to meet the moment, Chuck asks whether this tragedy can finally serve as the wake-up call for Americans to step back, recommit to the democratic process, and demand a safer political climate. Then, Congressman Greg Landsman joins Chuck for a wide-ranging conversation that begins with the shocking shooting of Charlie Kirk at an event on the Utah Valley University campus. (This conversation was recorded prior to the news of Charlie Kirk's death) The two dig into how political rhetoric has spiraled out of control, the role of social media algorithms in fueling polarization, and why platforms shouldn't be shielded from accountability. Landsman argues that leaders who cross the line with their rhetoric must be called out and stresses the urgent need to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people before the U.S. slips further into a dangerous cycle of political violence. From there, the discussion shifts to governing—what Landsman learned on Cincinnati's city council, why Congress has become dysfunctional since 9/11, and the frustrating reality that most bills are more about messaging than legislating. They also tackle foreign policy, including the stakes of defending Taiwan, the risks of Trump's trade war with China, and whether an “Asian NATO” could prevent a wider conflict. Plus, Landsman reflects on Kamala Harris's book, the pressures from party leadership, and the uncertainty of his own political future as redistricting looms. Finally, he reacts to the newly released excerpts from Kamala Harris's book and answers listeners' questions in the “Ask Chuck” segment.Timeline:(Timestamps may vary based on advertisements)00:00 Chuck Todd's Introduction - Charlie Kirk assassinated01:30 We're in a tinderbox of our own making02:30 Political rhetoric has escalated out of control03:00 Young kids lost their father over a political dispute03:45 When you resort to violence, you are no longer practicing politics05:00 Dehumanizing rhetoric leads to violence07:15 We collectively need to step back in this movement09:00 The way politics has been conducted won't lead us to a better place10:15 We have underreacted to political violence in recent years11:30 Unity doesn't mean agreeing, it means agreeing to the process12:45 The super online angry fringe whips people up13:45 Hopefully this is the “enough is enough” moment15:45 Algorithms incentive and feed into the extremist rhetoric16:45 Hoping our leaders can rise up and meet the moment19:15 The tech companies have created this environment21:15 Congressman Greg Landsman joins the Chuck Toddcast 21:30 Charlie Kirk shot at event on UVU campus 24:15 We need to turn down the temperature on political rhetoric 25:30 Social media algorithms have accelerated polarization 28:00 Being super online warps your brain 29:15 Political leadership that crosses the line needs to be called out 29:45 Social media companies shouldn't be shielded from litigation 30:45 Algorithms turn social media platforms into publishers 32:15 Need to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people 33:45 We're likely to slide into a "which side is more violent" debate 35:30 Why no committee investigation into Trump assassination attempt?37:45 The country is a tinderbox, the president needs to calm the waters 40:30 Democrats have been chasing Trump for 10 years 41:30 Democrats need to offer solutions and not just opposition to Trump 43:30 What did Greg do before entering politics? 44:30 What was the experience like on the city council? 48:15 Local government teaches you the basics of governing 52:15 After 9/11, congressional leaders ruined congress 53:30 700 bills made it out of committee, 50 made it to the floor 54:30 Most bills on the floor are messaging bills 55:45 America is only united when we have a common external enemy 56:45 We could be in World War 3 within a couple years 57:45 U.S. needs to make clear that it will defend allies 59:00 How do you sell defending Taiwan to the American people? 1:00:00 Should we have an Asian NATO? 1:01:15 We have to increase the cost to China for messing with Taiwan 1:02:30 Trump's trade war increases the likelihood of a hot war 1:04:50 Thoughts on the excerpts from Kamala Harris's book? 1:06:15 Were you pressured by the administration into not saying anything? 1:08:45 Will your seat be redistricted?1:09:15 Thoughts on interview with Greg Landsman 1:10:00 Excerpts from Kamala Harris's book released, are very direct 1:10:45 Harris was set up for failure as the "border czar" 1:11:45 Surprising that Biden staff treated Harris like Obama's treated him 1:13:45 Harris is cautious by nature 1:16:00 Harris likely to run again out of Biden's shadow 1:17:30 Dean Phillips is owed an apology, party needed an open debate 1:18:45 Ask Chuck 1:19:00 Importance of Michigan politics? 1:22:30 Could the energy Detroit sports teams provide could impact politics? 1:25:30 How should Democrats call out corruption & unfavorables on their side? 1:30:15 Should Democrats invite the national guard, then highlight crime in red states? 1:33:45 If the media hounded Trump about Kennedy, would he be more reactive? 1:36:15 College football games to keep an eye on 1:41:15 Find your way to do your part to de-escalate

The Antichrist can't rise up whenever he wants to. Something or someone restrains the Man of Lawlessness, until that Restrainer is taken out of the way. What If the CIA and Weyland-Yutani Merged? (Spoiler: Everyone Dies) This week on the podcast, Alien: Earth Episode 5 and Episodes 3 & 4 of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf reviews. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 Alien Earth: The Terminal List: Alien: Earth (FX/Hulu) Episode 5 – “In Space, No One…” Summary: A flashback shows the events that occurred on the Maginot starting seventeen days before it reached Earth. Junior security officer Clem wakes Morrow from cryosleep and tells him there has been a fire in one of the containment rooms. Two facehuggers have escaped and latched upon ship’s captain Dinsdale and science officer Bronski. Dinsdale dies from the facehugger’s acid blood when medical officer Rahim attempts to cut the tail from his neck. After being told by engineer Shmuel that the ship’s navigational systems were also damaged in the fire, Morrow concludes that a crew member has sabotaged the ship. Executive officer Zaveri assumes command of the ship, but Morrow threatens to relieve her if she does not prioritize the creatures above the crew. Bronski is placed in cryo-sleep to prevent the gestation of the Xenomorph, but this fails. In science officer Chibuzo’s lab, one leech specimen manages to open its test tube from the inside, and lays its larvae in her water bottle. Witnessing this, the Ocellus also escapes after Chibuzo fails to seal its containment vessel. Apprentice engineer Malachite drinks the water, and the larvae kill him from the inside; Chibuzo and Rahim are also killed by their defensive toxic gas when trying to extract them. Witnessing this, Zavari is in shock and Morrow relieves her of command. After being interrogated by Morrow, navigator Teng is killed by the fully-grown Xenomorph. Chief engineer Petrovich is revealed to be behind the sabotage at the order of Boy Kavalier, who promises him a hybrid body if the ship crashes in Prodigy territory. Petrovich kills Clem and is in turn killed by Morrow, who retreats to the control room and seals himself in. Zaveri is killed by the Xenomorph outside the door. With everyone dead, Morrow locks himself in the panic room and awaits the crash. Back in the present, Morrow meets with Yutani, offering to retrieve the specimens by force and kill Kavalier. Writer/Director: Written and directed by Noah Hawley Cast Highlights: Richa Moorjani (Zaveri), Sandra Yi Sencindiver (Yutani), Amir Boutrous (Rahim), Karen Aldridge (Chibuzo), Michael Smiley (Shmuel), Jamie Bisping (Malachite), Andy Yu (Teng), Max Rinehart (Bronski), Enzo Cilenti (Petrovich), Tom Moya (Clem). Air Date & Stats: Aired September 2, 2025, on FX and FX on Hulu. Duration: 64 minutes. Viewership: ~0.361 million households; 0.10 rating (18–49 demo). Style & Reception: Critics lauded its homages to Ridley Scott's original Alien, elevated tension, and emotional depth. Called a “banger” and “standout” bottle episode. Out of 5 In Space, No One… Hears You in the Loving Embrace of a Facehugger Darryl: 4.15/5 Brian: 4.28/5 The Terminal List: Dark (Amazon Prime) Episode 3 – “What’s Past Is Prologue” Summary: Vahid and Cyrus Rahimi attend a conference on the Iranian nuclear agreement in Geneva, and later meet with Minister Yousef Saedi. Farooq, Landry, and another CIA officer, Ish Reinhart, join Haverford’s team. Danawi’s phone shows he received $5 million in cryptocurrency to deliver to Balaz Molnar, a nuclear physics professor in Budapest. Texts come through from another number identified as Thana Haddad. Farooq questions her and discovers she is Danawi’s estranged daughter, but can’t bring himself to follow orders to kill her. Varon agrees not to tell the others after he confesses that, as a teenager, his sisters were raped by Uday Hussein, but he later helped the Americans in eliminating him. Edwards and Perash bond, but he becomes more estranged from his wife stateside. Impersonating Danawi, Farooq meets with Molnar and purchases proof of concept for proprietary bearings he is selling to Iran, which will enable them to still enrich uranium with the smaller number of centrifuges mandated by the nuclear deal. A third-party team tail Farooq after the meeting until he is extracted by Landry, and one kills Reinhart. Edwards has Varon cut CCTV and guns the man down on the Budapest Metro, taking a photo for identification before being extracted himself. Writer & Director: Directed by Liz Friedlander, written by Naomi Iizuka and Max Adams. Cast Highlights: Taylor Kitsch (Ben Edwards), Tom Hopper (Raife Hastings), Chris Pratt (James Reece), Rona‑Lee Shimon (Eliza Perash), Dar Salim (Mo Farooq), Rashidz Tzarfati (Tal Varon), Robert Wisdom (Jed Haverford), among others. Air Date: Premiered August 27, 2025 alongside Episodes 1 & 2. Episode 4 – “The Sound of the Guns” Summary: Hastings is contacted by a former Selous Scouts associate of his father, who confirms Haverford manages a long-term asset in Tehran codenamed Shepherd. Minister Saedi thanks Cyrus for his clandestine work, but Vahid begins to question their actions of putting nuclear weapons in the hands of such men. The team relocates to Munich, discovering the third party is the nuclear proliferation Khalid Network, working to move the bearings into Iran before the nuclear deal is finalised. Haverford plans to intercept the convoy in Geneva and swap Molnar's bearings for fakes, rendering Iran's new facility useless. He assures a suspicious Hastings that Shepherd’s intel is legitimate. Edwards and Perash kiss whilst scouting a location. Varon secures the fake bearings from Mossad agent Mordechai Ofer. Hastings becomes concerned about collateral damage with the convoy ambush plan and Edwards’ change in attitude. Edwards argues their current posting allows them to take real action compared to serving under military red tape. Haverford kills Molnar. Impersonating Austrian Federal Police, the team attacks the Khalid Network convoy and obtains the bearings, but are met by a large team of shooters on exfil. Farooq is injured and extracted by Landry. The Israelis betray the team, hacking Haverford's phone and stealing the bearings after incapacitating Edwards. Detroit Lions Post Game Reaction: Week 1 Loss to the Green Bay Packers Fixable Problems or Deeper Concerns? The Detroit Lions opened their 2025 NFL season with a disappointing Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. As fans sift through the emotions of frustration and anger, the focus turns to whether this was simply bad execution in a tough road environment—or something more systemic. Head coach Dan Campbell insists the problems are fixable. Missed assignments can be corrected, mental errors addressed, and coaching issues cleaned up. Still, the offensive game plan came under immediate scrutiny. Offensive coordinator John Morton is now facing questions after a debut that featured receivers bunched in ineffective route trees, linemen blocking ghosts, and a running attack that stalled repeatedly against light defensive fronts. The Lions offense managed only one touchdown while Jared Goff spent much of the afternoon checking down under pressure. Some fans had flashbacks to Joey Harrington as the short throws piled up, but a closer look shows Goff played smart football given Green Bay's deep two-safety shell. He avoided forcing throws, limited turnovers, and worked within a system that needs better support up front. Leadership, Collaboration, and the Road Ahead Beyond X's and O's, the Lions face an internal test of leadership. Reports suggest Goff had influence on personnel decisions—most notably the move to start veteran Graham Glasgow at center over rookie Tate Ratledge. While Glasgow is experienced, the protection issues were glaring. If quarterback preference factored too heavily into that decision, the Lions must recalibrate who drives the process. Dan Campbell has built his tenure on grit, collaboration, and empowering players. But there comes a time when the coach has to reset priorities and demand execution. Week 1 exposed communication breakdowns and schematic flaws that must be resolved immediately. The good news? It's still early. Sixteen NFL teams sit at 0-1 today. Campbell's Lions have historically started slow, but the season is long. Beat the Chicago Bears this Sunday at Ford Field and the narrative shifts. The roster remains stacked—Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Aidan Hutchinson, and others didn't suddenly forget how to play football. The bad news? The schedule ahead is brutal. Road trips to Cincinnati, Kansas City, and Baltimore loom large. Fixes must come fast, or the Lions risk sliding into a hole that talent alone can't climb out of. For now, Detroit Lions fans can breathe, regroup, and remember: it's just Week 1. But as this post game reaction podcast reminds us, the problems on display in Green Bay demand urgency, not excuses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYFMuXh65-g Let us know what you think about the show by commenting in the podcast thread in the subreddit, or by leaving us a voice mail message via Skype at: Detroit Lions Podcast  Your input will help make the show better, and if you leave us a message on Skype, you just might be featured in an upcoming podcast! What does it mean to follow Jesus in a culture obsessed with self-fulfillment? John Mark explores Jesus' words in Luke 9, where He calls His disciples to “take up your cross and follow me.” Contrasting the way of self-denial at the heart of apprenticeship to Jesus with the modern pursuit of personal satisfaction, John Mark encourages us to embrace the cruciform life that leads to our deepest satisfaction in God.Key Scripture Passages: Luke 9v18-24; Galatians 5v16-24; Luke 9v57-62; Luke 14v25-33; Luke 18v18-23; Matthew 13v44This podcast and its episodes are paid for by The Circle, our community of monthly givers.
