November 10th, 2024 - Galatians 5:16-26 - What Is It To Follow Christ? (feat. Dave Cox) 16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy,[a] drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do[b] such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Have you ever thought to yourself, "how scary could this pixel art horror game be? It's just pixels!". If so, you and I are the same. And granted, Decarnation (Atelier QDB, 2023) isn't an in-your-face type of horror. It's more of a psychological, empathetic horror and dread for what your character is going through. And it's very, very effective! This is a really unique horror game with fantastic pixel art, sound design and music- highly recommended! Dave the Diver, despite clearly having a great character name, is not my kind of game. Mintrocket's dive-collect-sell-upgrade-dive loop is one that I'm not very motivated by, but Dave the Diver got such unanimous acclaim that I had to take note. And apparently the patrons of the show wanted me to play it as well, because it won one of the montly polls. And this was an interesting episode to make, because I absolutely despise this game. Part of a critic's challenge is articulating why something hits or misses, and usually I'm on the other side of that challenge. Today is a different story. Listen in and find out why! Joining me for the discussion about Dave the Diver is Dave Cox of Monster Dear Monster podcast. Note: We want to be clear that this episode does include material that has been generated by Financial Times journalists using AI tools...we've done it to illustrate just how much AI is influencing the music industry.-------AI has arrived in the music world, and the industry is being forced to wrangle with it. The technology is now sophisticated enough to create entirely new deepfake songs. This year, millions of fake covers, and songs that clone the voices of musical artists, have appeared online. The FT's pop critic Ludo Hunter-Tilney has fallen down a wormhole to make sense of how these programs work. He actually made a song of his own, an original fake song in the style of Tom Waits. He plays it for us, and it's pretty bad.-------We love hearing from you! You can email us at ftweekendpodcast@ft.com. Jala is joined by Dave (Monster Dear Monster) and Moon (TripleSMoon, Nick) to discuss the 2003 Bollywood action/drama/romance/sci-fi movie Koi...Mil Gaya (I've Found Someone). This is a very memorable and fun if incredibly disjointed film about a developmentally disabled man who gets into Goonies-esque hijinks with a passel of little kid friends, summons an alien to Earth, faces off with a bully Space Jam style on the basketball court, has a brief stint as a superpowered Solid Snake in a Metal Gear-style action segment, finds love and, of course, turns into a fabulous dancer because this is Bollywood. Highly influenced by Steven Spielberg, this film has a lot of familiar beats to it while featuring a complexity Hollywood films of the era would never touch. Rohit Mehra, the main character, is one of Jala's absolute favorite characters in all of fiction. This movie is not currently streaming in the US, but is still easily available via used DVDs on online marketplaces such as eBay. Support this show via Ko-fi! Scott Furrow, Dave Cox, and Tyson McCoy Bring attention to the horrifying and tragic life of the victims trapped in the human trafficking trade. They Emphasize the fear traffickers instill in their victims to fear seeking help. Dave and Tyson want to put a stop to these traffickers by having more harder and deeper charges placed upon them. A leading reason why these victims don't come forward is due to the finicky handling of these traffickers. They can easily be released shortly after being convicted. Dave and Tyson explain how these traffickers can be stopped. You can see what you can do for these victims by visiting https://gozoe.org/ Later, Scott broadens a perspective on the issues that can be overlooked when people think of homelessness. Brings to perspective the mental issues most of them deal with, and how drugs and alcohol critically damage a positive progress to this issue. Scott also talks about how we as taxpayers are paying into programs that are put in place to help the homeless, but where is that money really going? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It's Superma...no wait, that's not quite right. It is, however, a new episode of Dark Insight! This week, hosts Josh and Bryan are joined by friend of the show and debut guest, Dave Cox, who hosts the Monster Dear Monster and Crouching Tiger Hidden Podcast shows, both of which are very much worth listening to! After the customary weather report, we discuss the (unsurprising, yet still bold) news that Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered is getting a stand alone release, the fact that Atari is due to be releasing a brand new piece of hardware, Josh flies off the handle about Hitman, YET AGAIN, and urges people to play it because he's a broken record. Please play it. We also mention the Steam sale and how nobody has any money left now. After a quick check in with Josh's thoughts on E3, we get into what we've been playing which includes The Surge, Black, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Monolith, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Friday the 13th and last, but not least, Sine Mora. Breathe! Then it's onto listener feedback where lovely members of our community tell us what their favourite monsters in games are. It's an action packed show and we think you'll enjoy it! Thanks to everyone for listening, please be sure to subscribe and leave us a rating on iTunes as it really helps us out, and you can find all of our social media stuff, as well as links to all the guests we've had on thus far, at darkinsight.net and we'll see you with a new episode next week! Also, if you've read this far, it's worth noting that Jeremy usually writes these up but this time it's Josh doing it. As a direct consequence of this, there's no spelling mistakes present hahahaha. Special Guest: Dave Cox.

Is it photography or 3D animation? A common question for creative masterminds, Dave Cox and Wil Wells, of Elevendy. Disregarding the mantra "get it right in camera" this creative production house makes their own rules. Learn the importance of planning, how to hide discreet meaningful messages in your images (including star wars characters), and how to get a client buy-in for off the wall concepts. The dynamic duo will also reveal the process of their Addy winning Sacramento Kings "Defend Your Honor" campaign. * Bonus - In-studio shoot with both "C-Sharp" and Leo. See the concept drawing and shoot in action. Final result to be revealed in future episode!
