FOLLOW US: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/inside-commerce/ ABOUT THIS EPISODE: International expansion is front of mind for many ecommerce teams in 2024. In this episode we delve into the complexities of managing a global ecommerce strategy with the DTC Ecommerce Manager at BRG Group brands, which include Breville and Sage Appliances. Myles shares his experience and insights on navigating the intricacies of maintaining multiple websites across 17 countries, including multiple languages. The conversation starts with the international setup and tech stack, and then covers the fundamental need for localisation of website content and the shopping experience. Myles explains that localising content is not just about translating text; it's about adapting the user experience to resonate with local cultures, preferences, and behaviours. This involves modifying product descriptions, adjusting imagery, and tailoring marketing messages to align with the expectations and norms of each region. Myles also highlights that true localisation requires a deep understanding of the local market, which often means collaborating closely with local teams or hiring native speakers. Another key aspect discussed is the importance of standardising the technology stack via central ownership. Myles explains that having a unified platform and centralised control helps ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability. By standardising on a single ecommerce platform, the brand can streamline operations, manage updates more effectively, and reduce the complexity of maintaining different systems. Central ownership also facilitates better data integration, allowing for more comprehensive analytics and insights across all markets. However, with centralisation comes the challenge of maintaining a consistently high level of customer service across global teams. Myles candidly discusses the difficulties in achieving uniformity in customer service standards when dealing with diverse teams spread across various time zones and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, leveraging technology such as AI-driven customer service tools can help provide immediate and consistent support, bridging the gap between different regions. Throughout the podcast, Myles' insights provide a valuable roadmap for any ecommerce manager looking to navigate the complexities of a global ecommerce strategy, balancing localisation, technological standardisation, and exceptional customer service. This change in attitude towards our greatest ally in the Middle East is disturbing to many and causes us to look closely at what is happening here and abroad.  Movements like BDS – the “boycott, divestment and sanction” effort of all Israeli and international companies is closely tied to the Black Lives Matter movement and the critical race theory in an effort to pit one race against another.     It's so much easier to hate and blame than to take personal responsibility to create and build.  Our country is at a critical point to choose which way we will go.  The in-depth conversation on all these issues is helped by leading experts Matthew Brodsky with the Gold Institute for International Strategy, Jonathan Alexandre of Liberty Counsel Action, Jack Beyrer of the Washington Free Beacon, and Benjamin Weil of the Endowment for Middle East Truth.

The original firm that Ed Hyman co-founded - ISI Group, International Strategy and Investment, recognized from the very beginning that China would have an important role to play in the world economy. How right they were. As China allowed the private sector to flourish and opened up to foreign investment, it became the world's second-largest economy. Under the dictatorial regime of President Xi Jinping, many of those policies have been curtailed to China's detriment. Hyman's view of China has changed as well. Amid the war in Ukraine, the Biden administration has maintained focus on China and enjoyed robust bipartisan support for pursuing a tough approach to Beijing. Recent U.S. export controls on semiconductors and related chip manufacturing equipment have raised the stakes of U.S.-China competition, and many in China now feel as though the United States is seeking to slow China's rise. Beijing, for its part, is not backing down from U.S. pressure. Unprecedented military drills around Taiwan after U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taipei roiled bilateral ties. How might the U.S. midterm elections impact Biden's China policy? Will Beijing amend its approach toward Washington after the 20th Party Congress? One day after the U.S. midterm elections, Paul spoke with Chong Ja Ian, a nonresident scholar at Carnegie China, Yun Sun, a senior fellow and co-director of the East Asia Program and director of the China Program at the Stimson Center, and Da Wei, the director of the Center for International Strategy and Security at Tsinghua University and a professor in the Department of International Relations at Tsinghua University. What is Mobycon?Mobycon is a sustainable mobility consultancy based in the Netherlands with offices in Canada and the United States. For the past three decades, they've drawn from the Netherlands' experience improving biking and walking access to help city planners and government agencies plan safe and sustainable mobility networks. Their guiding philosophy emphasizes the importance of understanding how people move, what routes they take, and traffic behavior. In an effort to make cities safer for bikes and pedestrians, Mobycon helps their clients commit to serious economic and policy efforts that challenge car-centered city design by providing them with various services and tools to facilitate new forms of urban mobility. For example, their interactive mobility workshops and education programs have trained a wide range of local stakeholders, city planners, engineers, and even school children. Tools such as Star Analysis, an approach to bicycle network planning, and Streetsketch, Mobycon's free street design tool, embody Dutch design principles that can be locally adapted in municipalities around the world. Mobycon is a leading example of how partnerships between governments and the private sector can advance sustainable solutions to transportation and urban planning challenges. The Dutch Sustainable Mobility ModelDutch models of mobility address fundamental challenges to automobile centered urban planning and street safety. The Dutch model focuses on returning streets to public spaces for vulnerable road users like bicyclists and pedestrians, also known as the “shared space” concept. The Dutch approach emphasizes network-based planning that ensures safety for all road users and assesses existing city infrastructure in local contexts. The successful transition towards shared mobility in the Netherlands can be accredited to the vast amount of research, funding, design efforts, and political will that has gone into crafting the Dutch approach.COP27 and Sustainable TransportationThe transportation sector is responsible for approximately one quarter of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. While zero emission vehicles will play a role in decarbonisation, other ways of getting around, like biking, are also critical . Nout says in many countries, designing cities in a way that makes biking and walking safe and convenient will require a whole new way of thinking about city planning and traffic engineering, but training for these specialities is often expensive and inaccessible. Mobycon is a member of the Transportation Decarbonisation Alliance (TDA), an international coalition that seeks to accelerate the transportation sector towards a net-zero emissions mobility system. The TDA's Call to Action on Active Mobility, which they've brought to this year's COP27 discussions, hopes to change that. It asks global leaders to commit additional funding to train planners and engineers in sustainable mobility design. Nout says this support will help remove the current bottleneck in sustainable infrastructure investment – the skilled professionals to make transportation decarbonisation goals reality.Lennart NoutLennart Nout is an urban mobility specialist who serves as the Manager of International Strategy at Mobycon. His work includes training and capacity building, as well as developing strategic projects and urban mobility plans in Europe and North America. With a specialized interest in bike mobility, Nout's projects are mainly focused on design, policy, consultation, and guidelines for cycling in cities around the world.

We live up to our words," he added.他强调:“中方将采取坚定行动维护自身主权和安全利益,我们说到做到。”Shortly after Biden's remarks, a White House official clarified that the US policy toward Taiwan remains unchanged, Reuters reported. The official said that Biden reiterated that the US pursues the one-China policy and stays committed to peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.据路透社报道,在拜登此番表态之后,美国白宫官员表示,美国对台政策没有改变。这位官员称,拜登重申了美国奉行一个中国政策,并致力于台湾海峡两岸的和平与稳定。Meanwhile, the 75th World Health Assembly unequivocally refused on Monday to put on the conference's agenda the proposal of a handful of countries inviting Taiwan to participate as an observer. The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of the World Health Organization.同时,第75届世界卫生大会在23日明确拒绝将所谓“邀请台湾以观察者身份参加世卫大会”的提案列入大会议程。世界卫生大会是世界卫生组织的决策机构。It has been proved that the one-China principle is a broad consensus of the international community and also an overriding trend that brooks no challenge, said Zhu Fenglian, a spokeswoman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, on Monday.国台办发言人朱凤莲23日表示,事实证明,一个中国原则是国际社会普遍共识,人心所向、大势所趋,不容任何挑战。The Taiwan question has been the most sensitive in China-US relations. However, Washington has constantly played the "Taiwan card" in recent years to contain China's development by developing official exchanges with Taiwan and selling more advanced arms to the island.台湾问题一直是中美关系中最敏感的问题。然而,美国近些年来一直打“台湾牌”,企图通过与台湾的官方往来,向其出售更先进的武器,遏制中国的发展。In 2018, then US president Donald Trump signed the Taiwan Travel Act, encouraging visits between the US and Taiwan at all levels. One of Washington's provocative moves against China was the visit by a delegation of US Congress members to Taiwan in April. There had been reports that Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the US House of Representatives, might visit Taiwan during her Asian trip, but the trip was postponed after she became infected with COVID-19.2018年,时任美国总统特朗普签署的《台湾旅行法》,鼓励美台各层级互访。美国对中国的挑衅行动之一就是美国国会议员代表团于4月访问台湾。有报道称,美国众议员议长南希·佩洛西可能会在亚洲之行期间访问台湾,但由于她感染新冠,所以旅行被推迟。Observers said that Washington's irresponsible words and deeds run counter to a series of consensuses reached between the heads of state of the two countries, and that if the US persists in playing the "Taiwan card" and goes further down the wrong path, it will lead to a very perilous situation.观察者网表示,美方不负责任的言行与两国元首达成的一系列共识背道而驰,如果美方继续打“台湾牌”,在错误的道路上越走越远,必将引火烧身。Xu Liping, a researcher at the National Institute of International Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that at a time when the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has yet to be resolved, the US is constantly fanning the flames and attempting to damage cross-Straits relations, which is detrimental to regional and global peace, stability and development.中国社会科学院亚太与全球战略研究所研究员许利平表示,在俄乌冲突尚未解决之际,美国却在不断煽风点火,企图破坏中国海峡两岸关系,不利于地区和世界和平、稳定与发展。As the world's largest economy, the US should take the responsibility of promoting world peace, but what it is doing is only hampering regional and global development, Xu said, adding that this shows the hypocrisy of the US government.许利平强调,美国作为世界第一大经济体,理应承担促进世界和平的责任,但其所作所为只会阻碍地区和全球发展,这显示了美国政府的虚伪。militarily英[ˈmɪlətrəli;美[ ˌmɪləˈterəli]adv.

The United States and China have engaged each other at high levels, but fundamental and seemingly irreconcilable differences around a host of issues – including trade, technology, human rights, Taiwan and the South China Sea, among others – remain evident.Dr. Da speaks to the fundamental question: from a Chinese vantage point, where is the United States correctly assessing what might be termed “the China challenge” and where is the United States gauging China's intentions incorrectly?
