Gabrielle Bernstein (author, “Happy Days: The Guided Path from Trauma to Profound Freedom and Inner Peace,” and podcast host, “Dear Gabby”) joins Chris Cuomo for an extensive conversation about how all pain is personal, her path to sobriety and the need to view yourself through a lens of compassion, ways to change core belief systems that may be holding you back from personal growth, how taking small actions daily can lead to radical change, why the world only wants to see your authentic truth, and much more. Follow and subscribe to The Chris Cuomo Project on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube for new episodes every Tuesday and Thursday.
Bestselling author and podcast host Gabby Bernstein believes unresolved trauma negatively impacts our lives and deprives us of the ability to connect. Gabby, one of the "soulful thinkers" featured on Oprah's Super Soul Sunday, explores the importance of doing the work to be present to each other—and foremost ourselves—amidst the noise and alienation found everywhere in today's world. In this episode, she explains to Christopher Michael wounding left untended is at the root of toxic emotions like alienation, anger, and judgment. She shares her own experiences with traumatic dissociation and drug addiction and her practices and path to wholeness. Highlighting ways to combat hypervigilance, diffuse "impostor syndrome," and lean into reconnection with our bodies, she stresses that even the most mindful among us will always be a work in progress. What's contemporary now? "A trend toward well-being and a concerted effort to get out of our bubbles, seeking stability through connection." Episode Highlights: Friendly vs. hostile: Gabby believes that the problems in the world arise from poor choices made from a place of unresolved childhood trauma. Common ground: Shared core beliefs founded in love and compassion enable us to work and live with people with different views. Objective reality: Unresolved childhood wounding often appears in projection forms that invite our curiosity and self-compassion (along with boundaries). See it, be it: Manifestation is about clearing beliefs, fears, or insecurities that hold us back from assuming the energy of what we truly desire. Analysis paralysis: A closer look at Gabby's journey to transparency, vulnerability, and authentic truth as a vehicle for connection. Gabby's path: She turned away from a life as a nightlife publicist, numbed her painful trauma with drugs and alcohol, and went on to embrace sobriety and honesty. Walking the talk: Holding space for and witnessing the transformation of others—particularly women she has sponsored— has been healing for Gabby. Doing the work: Gabby uses therapy and other tools to combat impostor syndrome or feelings of emptiness that crop up—no matter how successful we are. The control trap: Living in safety is the best way to heal hypervigilant nervous systems, including through modalities. Being present: Gabby finally feels fully alive and attuned to her body and is no longer shut off to mental and physical connection. Creating connection: For those who have experienced complex trauma, creating connection is a long, slow process of gently thawing dissociative reflexes without triggering panic. (recommended reading: "Happy Days: The Guided Path from Trauma to Profound Freedom and Inner Peace.") ; For those struggling with everyday life's stresses, grounding practices, movement practices, and meditation to center, calm, and help visualize healing and well-being. Words of wisdom: "When we learn how to explore and change our minds about the world we see, then our experience (and our experience of our experience) of the world changes accordingly. And that mental shift is miraculous!"

Today on How We Can Heal Podcast, Lisa Danylchuk is joined by Gabby Bernstein to discuss her healing recipes in the new book, Happy Days: The Guided Path from Trauma to Profound Freedom and Inner Peace. Everything in the book is like a recipe for Gabby. And just like any recipe, you can either follow it or tweak it here and there in any way. In this episode, Gabby explains how she channels meditation with journaling plus bilateral music, the experience of losing a child and allowing dissociation to take over, and the primary goal she aims to achieve in the book Happy Days. The Author's First Page"I write my books for myself first," says Gabby when asked about her newly released Happy Days. Like the book's reviews from readers, some of who are figures in the industry themselves, Gabby poured nothing but honesty and openness in this recent episode of the podcast. These characteristics of Gabby help readers mirror the different phases she learned in her journey to sitting down and shaking hands with trauma. But now that the book is out is it all 'done and over with' for Gabby? The answer—no. 'Going through the depths and having to retrieve the inner child' does not mean recess for the work Gabby puts in. Gabby still goes to therapy every week, and she continues to practice what she preaches in her books. With that, we learn that healing is never a destination. Like learning how to heal, the healing process itself is a continuous daily thing. That, Gabby knows all too well.About Gabby Bernstein:For more than 16 years, Gabby Bernstein has been transforming lives—including her own. As soon as I received Gabby Bernstein's new book, Happy Days: The Guided Path from Trauma to Profound Freedom and Inner Peace, I couldn't put it down. It took me less than 48 hours to finish (which, considering work and motherhood, is very unusual for me.) Gabby Bernstein is a household name in the spiritual and wellness space. Over the last decade, she has supported people on their spiritual journey. If you know Gabby and her work, you know she doesn't shy away from the deeper connections and conversations. But this book is unlike anything she's ever written. She calls it her most important message to date. It would be an understatement to say I am proud of Gabby and the truth and vulnerability she has poured into these pages. This book details her experiences with sexual abuse and trauma as a child for the first time. She also discusses her postpartum depression. This may already be triggering something deep inside you, but I encourage you to listen to this conversation. Because what unfolds on the other side is a plan for transforming the pain of your past, whatever that may be, into newfound strength and freedom. You'll learn: • Why most people feel stuck in patterns that make them unhappy—and what to do about it • 9 transformational, yet untapped, techniques for serenity and genuine happiness—from techniques for “reparenting” yourself to bodywork practices for freeing the stuck energy of past trauma • The mindset shift that can do more for you than decades of personal work • How to go into the places that scare you—and come away freer than ever before “This book is my gift to you,” Gabby writes. “It will answer your questions about why you feel blocked, scared, anxious, depressed, or alone, and it will liberate you from the belief system that has kept you small for so long. . . . By taking this path you will become the best version of yourself. You will become new.” To get your copy of Gabby's new book, Happy Days: The Guided Path from Trauma to Profound Freedom and Inner Peace, click here: https://gabbybernstein.com/happy-days-book/
