The trio geek and nerd out to an extreme level this week, and talk all things PS2, retro gaming, shoot ‘em ups (or SHMUPS), best consoles in history and much much more. Again, we are placing a very firm NERD ALERT for this episode. We hope you enjoy this episode and this podcast, if you want to support it and us, please do follow us on social media (all 3magicnumberpod), from Instagram to Tik Tok, Youtube to Bluesky and X, (even though it's awful). To celebrate, we've put together 100 of our favourite fun facts about linguistics, featuring contributions from previous guests and Lingthusiasm team members, fan favourites that resonated with you from the previous 99 episodes, and new facts that haven't been on the show before but might star in one of the next 100 episodes in greater detail. In this episode, your hosts Gretchen McCulloch and Lauren Gawne talk about brains, gesture, etymology, famous example sentences, languages by the numbers, a few special facts about the word "hundred" and way more! This episode is both a fun overview of the vibe of Lingthusiam if you've never listened before, and a bonus bingo card game for diehard fans to see how many facts you can recognize. We also invite you to share this episode alongside one of your favourite fun facts about linguistics and help more people find Lingthusiasm in honour of our 100th episodiversary! Hello people, welcome to the When In Yorkshire Podcast I hope you're all well. Now that the episodes have been recovered there's going to be a whole load that were recorded a while back and this is a great way to kick them off. Episode sixty two featuring the Andy - current bass master with raging speedhorne, previously rocking guitar with Freeze the Atlantic and of course bassist in Hundred Reasons. This was recorded a year ago as Hundred Reasons were on tour with Hell Is For Heroes and My Vitriol prior to the release of Glorious Sunset which has just turned 1! I spent a large amount of the 00's listening to and going to see Hundred Reasons and covering some of their tracks - in fact the same is applicable for the other bands on that tour. For me they were a big influence in terms of the music I was writing and whilst their debut Ideas Above Our Station was a standout album, I really loved everything they released - so I was a little hesitant (albeit quite excited too) when I heard they were releasing new music but from the listen of the first single and title track, Glorious Sunset, I was absolutely hooked again. If you haven't heard the album all the way through, or in fact if you haven't listened to it all this year, please do. It's genuinely great and has back on rotation for me throughout February. Andy was delightful to chat to and despite having to keep the volume down due to a sleep driver below us on their bus, we covered a whole range of topics and it was great to hear about his introduction to music as well as how the latest album came to be. Before we get into this episode, if you're also wanting a real in depth series of interviews about Hundred Reasons featuring all members of the band - I can highly recommend Live Fast, Die Ugly: The Hundred Reasons Podcast and I've put a link in the description of this episode. https://open.spotify.com/episode/6TLTnFK9SSdH7PuK4W5ha0?si=sT-MlIaCS7WTVL2UcuSKxghttps://www.hundredreasons.comhttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somewhere_in_Time_(Iron_Maiden_album) Hosted on Acast. Let's be honest, very few of us thought Hundred Reasons would make music again. Internet banking phishing scams, Spotify royalties and, at some point, music are also discussed. Can you imagine. In one of the greatest moments in music interview history, 5-year-old Logan asks Andy a question which requires him to dig into the very essence of his soul: "Cheese string or Babybel?" An explorative journey into 'active' and 'passive' cheeses then begins. To warm you up (or turn you off), we chat about mundane superpowers, hangovers and whether patio furniture is an appropriate anniversary present.

So sit back, relax and enjoy three grown men talking nonsense about an album that was released over twenty years ago.

Welcome back to the Super BS Gamescast. On this episode, I'm talking to somebody who is a lot more talented than I am. I'm joined by Colin Doran of the band Hundred Reasons. We sit down and talk about the new album, Glorious Sunset, which is due out February 24th. You can check out five of the ten tracks on iTunes today! Since we're a podcast about video games . . . mostly, we also had a nice chat about video games. A few things mentioned involve retro games and consoles, importing video games from different regions, and video game preservation. We also dive into a few predictions for 2023, with Colin making a bold one involving Metroid Prime. We discuss the art of soulslike games by FromSoftware and why Hidetaka Miyazaki is an amazing creator, Hideo Kojima is a breath of fresh air in the gaming industry, and Josh complains about the convoluted storylines of Tetsuya Nomura . . . again. All of this and more on this very special episode of the Super BS Gamescast. Don't forget to follow us on Facebook at Super BS Gamescast. You can also follow Hundred Reasons on Facebook at Hundred Reasons and Instagram at hundredreasonsband. Again, the new album is out February 24th, but you can check out their amazing back catalog today on iTunes, Spotify, and other great music streaming services. Few labels informed my taste in music like Fierce Panda did as a teenager. Without them I'd have never heard Ash, 60ft Dolls, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, The Bluetones, China Drum, Supergrass, Jimmy Eat World, Hundred Reasons, Coldplay, Art Brut, Embrace, Ultrasound, Kenickie, Bis, Idlewild, Placebo… I could go on… and on… While I can take or leave some of those bands now, as a teenager, all of them, without exception, were acts I cherished with all my indie kid heart. Fierce Panda was, and indeed is, ran by Simon Williams, who as an NME journalist during the period I fell in love with the paper, became something of a hero of mine. He was certainly very kind to me when I first moved to London some 17 years ago, making me cups of tea in the Fierce Panda office and even sorting out a few gigs for my then band Mavis. And so I was devastated to hear that Simon had hit some rough times – regular listeners will know about my own struggles with OCD, and the music industry isn't always the kindest for people with complicated brains. Simon appears to be on the mend and Fierce Panda remains an active concern. He's written a book about it all – the good times and the very, very bad. It's called Pandamonium! How Not to Run a Record Label and it's out now on Nine Eight books. We don't get into the blood and the guts on this episode, not literally, the book exists to tell that story. But I think what follows is an entertaining and insightful conversation with one of British music's most valued men. And if nothing else, the story about 'Wibbling Rivalry' is worth the entry fee. Original posted September 16th 2020 on https://www.patreon.com/riotactpodcast (https://www.patreon.com/riotactpodcast) Steve and Remfry go very in-depth (almost Classic Album-worthy in-depth) on an album that was very hotly anticipated at the time, the debut from Aldershot melodic post-hardcore heroes Hundred Reasons. As suggested by Tierney, this Rioteer's Review provides an opportunity to merrily skip down memory lane as both Steve and Remfry were heavily invested in the scene that Hundred Reasons (debatably) spawned.  They discuss the hype leading up to the record, the resounding success and sadly, what seemed inevitable decline of a band who, for just a sweet short summer in 2002 looked like they might dominate the entire universe (spoiler ... they didn't). All that plus, we discover the revelation that Remfry's never heard the saying 'keen as mustard' and Steve stays on brand by obsessing over a band that no-one's even vaguely heard of and oly ever released one(!) demo.
