Whether it’s Kobe Bryant, The Rock, or Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Ferruggia knows that you need to think like an athlete to make the difference in your life. Whether working out, fixing your diet, getting enough sleep or embracing personal development, you can always improve. This episode is a lesson in how to be a better entrepreneur, employee, boss, dad and athlete, from a world-renowned strength and conditioning specialist. Watch the full episode on YouTube Jason Ferruggia grew up inspired by real life and fictional athletes such as The Ultimate Warrior, Bruce Lee, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wolverine and any larger than life figure. His dad was interested in bodybuilding, and Jason gravitated towards lifting, motivated to train in-line with the innovative ethos of Dorian Yates at the time. He went to college with the intention of one day hosting SportsCenter on ESPN or directing films, as a communications major. However, it didn’t take long before he got bitten by the iron bug and ended up on pace to making a six-figure salary training people at 19 years old. Later on, he fully invested in his own personal development and moved to California, reinventing himself in the birthplace of physical culture. He’s since been training people in the ways of functional fitness and a basement CrossFit approach long before it became popular, but it’s always got results. As a world-renowned strength and conditioning specialist and host of the Renegade Radio Podcast, Jason Ferruggia aims to give you as the listener or reader the knowledge to build your body, strengthen your mind and optimise your life. He has contributed to broadcasts and publications such as Men’s Health, Muscle & Fitness, Men’s Fitness, Huffington Post, LiveStrong, Muscle & Fitness Hers, Shape, Entrepreneur, and shows on ESPN and CBS. For more information visit jasonferruggia.com Episode highlights: Why it’s sometimes important to reinvent yourself for the purpose of personal development and reboot your self-limiting beliefs. How you can differentiate between information sources to take what’s useful and reject what’s not, whether it’s physical training or personal development and other approaches to education. Why high level athletes may not be anywhere near as familiar with the importance of nutrition as you may think. How struggles in your past can be used for short term motivation, but why continuing to do this long term will be detrimental to your mental health. Corporate athletes and how your activity in the boardroom should be fuelled by the same thing as Kobe Bryant on the court. What movements, drills and workouts you need to make the most of your time with a busy schedule, while still giving yourself time to recover. Why your diet will not only shape you, but the types of foods often mean you can eat what you like as long as you’re concentrating mainly on real foods and single ingredients. Which rep ranges and volume options are the safest for your body and central nervous system when lifting and working out. The importance of sleep and why it will help every aspect of your fitness and daily life. Why you need to pay attention to your body and journal every detail to test what works for you and how diet, sleep, activity and everything else will bring benefits or detriment. Our guest on today's Awesome Health show transformed himself from a skinny, weak kid to a veteran of the weight-training world and an industry leader in fitness training. Jason Ferruggia is the founder of Renegade Fitness and the man on the Renegade Radio mic. Jason and I dig into what has inspired and motivated his personal transformation and how he motivates his clients. He also talks about what he has learned from training athletes in 70 different sports, including some of the best in the world. Join us to hear his wisdom and philosophy on episode 8 of Awesome Health podcast, brought to you by BiOptimizers. More About Awesome Health with Jason Ferruggia Jason Ferruggia grew up as a skinny, weak kid - and he hated it. During his formative years Arnold he Schwarznegger and Sylvester Stallone were on the big screen, while Hulk Hogan and the WWE were airing on TV on Saturday mornings. He wanted to be jacked like all of those guys, and he tried to get there by playing sports but he was never good. Instead, he got into training which gave him more confidence, and helped him change his life. But the real turning point came in college when he got tuberculosis (TB) from an exchange student living on his floor in the dorms, and he had to be on bed rest for 3 months. This was in the early 90s when the Internet wasn't widely available and you could only get information on the back of magazines (like Iron Man). He found certifications and courses in those magazines, ordered a bunch of them, and spent his bed rest time devouring that content. When he was healthy again and cleared by his doctor the following spring, he became certified. Wasting no time, he started training people that same summer and the business blew up from there. He didn't know the first thing about business but it was successful! A few years later he got his first athlete, which led to more and more. In the early 2000s he began writing online; his mission then was training athletes and helping them get bigger, stronger and faster and get scholarships, break records, personal records, and the like. Today it's changed a bit and he says he has a more well-rounded approach. He teaches his clients on everything from personal development to mindset to training. He works with his clients to unleash their strongest self in every way possible. Simple Steps Lead To Long-Lasting Results Because he's worked with so many people in various stages of their lives, and he's gone through several decades of his own transformation and training, I wanted to hear Jason's thoughts on the most important components of looking and feeling good through your 20s, 30s, and 40s. Jason has a direct approach, he believes in simplifying training and nutrition for the average person. Most people need something simple to follow, and he resists the urge to do the fancy, cool stuff! He also strives to help people adopt one new habit at a time. He has found most people try to take on 5 new habits at a time and they get 100% failure rate when they do. So if someone tries to give up bad nutritional habits (like soda, Big Macs, etc.) and immediately decides they are also going to train 6 days a week, then they have set themselves up for failure. Instead he recommends they just stop the Big Macs and do a 10-minute work out to get started. With that advice in mind, I was curious what his recommendations would be for someone who is 30 pounds overweight and hasn't trained much since their high school athletic days. I asked Jason where does he suggest starting? Again he wants to make it simple, but fun because everybody gets bored otherwise. For a few weeks he would do the same workout with them, and then he'd switch it up by changing their reps, change the grip, or adding some other kind of change every week. He would also switch up their workouts between upper body, and lower body And he would set PRs along the way because everyone likes to see themselves improve. We all have fun going watching our push-up totals increase, or our full-body squats go up. As far as their diet is concerned, he would see where they are at and do the basics of eliminating junk food and fried foods, those types of things. In general, he wouldn't make huge changes unless this person wanted to lose 30 pounds in 60 days - then he would go more extreme with their diet. If this person does have a deadline, he would ramp it up a bit but in a smart way. if this person hasn't done anything in awhile he recommends just building up the volume every week as well as the low intensity cardio. A few weeks into the process, he would have him do interval training. Regarding their diet, junk food will be eliminated for the first few weeks, save for a Sunday night cheat meal. He would give this person a bit more protein, lower their starches and carbs, and add a lot of fruits and steamed veggies plus a green juice every day. High Fat/Low Protein Or High Protein/Moderate Carbs: What Is Best? Because he touched on carbs and proteins, I wondered what his take is on the low carb vs high fat/low protein vs high protein/mod carbs diets. What is his real-world experience telling him nutritional approach is realistically sustainable in the long-term? Personally, he has done the anabolic and ketogenic diet back in the early 1990s; he did the ketogenic diet for 2 years. With that experience under his belt, Jason doesn't think keto is sustainable long-term because the average person can't not ever eat carbs again. It could mess up their digestion and it could interfere with a person's social life! However, different people respond better to different types of diets, so cycling can also work well. Cycling would mean doing something like adding an extra 100 grams of carbs on training days and consuming 100g less on non-training days. Jason has yet to see any athlete do well on a low carb diet, and he has seen it backfire with a lot of people. He says a lot of athletes should carry a little more body fat and eat more carbs. It's also important to note there's a big difference between eating for health, physique and performance. Eating for long-term health he might suggest no more than 50 g of animal protein a day. If eating for physique he would tweak it to add more protein and calories (even though higher calorie diets do produce more free radicals and age the body more, but that's the choice someone makes when physique training), and eating for performance would mean eating more carbs. His typical training day and diet is eating 4 or 5 meals a day, about 3 hours between. Those meals are similar and consist of 4-6 ounces of protein, 30-40g of carbs (like half of a sweet potato or hot rice cereal) with 10-15 g of fat with butter or olive oil mixed in. He admits his biggest meal is always at night, he's an old school Italian so he likes to sit down with his wife and enjoy a big meal! He tends to save most of his calories and carbs for the evening. Natural Ways To Get To The Next Level After we dig into his biggest influences regarding training and health, and why he doesn't judge an athlete who uses anabolic substances, I asked him about natural ways we can get to the next level. 1. Sleep. His top recommendation is sleep. Sleep is the #1 thing, and nothing else can replace getting high quality sleep. In fact, he goes so far as to say don't bother with supplements if you aren't getting good sleep! He says it's crazy to spend $1k on supplements a month if you are getting 4 hours of crappy sleep every night. It has to be your top priority because it will help you get leaner, build more muscle and recover faster. It is the fountain of youth. 2. Lower Your Stress Levels. The second natural alternative is to lower your stress levels. You can do everything else right but if your relationships aren't good, and you hate your job, and your finances are a mess, then you aren't going to get lean and build muscle. You simply won't feel good until the other areas of your life are in better order and you lower your stress. 3. Diet. From there, diet is next. Adequate carbs are necessary if you are training hard, and everyone needs a decent amount of healthy fats in their diets. 4. Self-care. Next is the basic old school self-care treatments like self-massage, self-myofascial relief, foam rolling and the like. Jason says everyone should spend more time doing any of these things. 5. Float Tanks and Cryo Therapy. And finally the fifth option for taking it to the next level is next is newer things like float tanks (sensory deprivation chambers) and cryotherapy. He uses a float tank every week; it helps joints decompress and the magnesium aids relaxation and recovery. It also helps mentally by taking you into a dream-like state, and makes problem-solving easier. He also does cryo chambers, and highly recommends it. If you can do a monthly membership he says to go for it. Going to a chamber every day for 30 days will change your life! But even if you can only go once a week, it'll still have a major impact but it will take longer for you to feel the results. He says to go back to back as often and as much as you can afford to. Our last topic is his podcast, Renegade Radio, along with a few rapid fire questions. Jason tells us who the most influential person in his life and the three most important things to living the fullest life possible. Have you ever heard of the 80/20 rule? The 80/20 rule is also known as the “Pareto Principle,” that states, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. What’s great about this 80/20 principle is it can be applied in all areas of life such as: • Business • Fitness • Health and safety • Sports We just had a DYNAMIC conversation with fitness icon, Jason Ferruggia, who lives and breathes the 80/20 principle in all areas of his life. Jason loves simplicity and feels that its key to getting better in all areas of life and constantly moving the needle forward. Jason has been in the fitness industry for over two decades… so he knows a lot, has seen infinitely, he’s accomplished a large amount of stuff, has had his fair shares of losses or lessons learned, and he’s evolved a ton. In THIS CONVERSATION WE ALSO DISCUSSED: • How he applies the 80/20 principle in his life such as: Nutrition- 7 foods he eats every day. Exercise- less variety and less exercise selection. Personal Growth- reads 3-5 books a year and studies them thoroughly • His story about losing his gym and using it as an opportunity to go online and build his business • Why Jason is so big on being physically, mentally, and emotionally strong, and the Importance of work on personal growth and addressing issues from the past • Some of his key daily habits to win the day such as: meditating, reading and getting everything done form 6-10 a.m, checking email twice a day, working out, and more Follow us on Instagram www.instagram.com/chrisandericmartinez/ and checkout the full show notes at www.liveadynamiclifestyle.com/podcast/ep…ferruggia/ And follow Jay on Instagram www.instagram.com/jayferruggia/ and checkout more info on him here: Other places to connect with Jay: Website: jasonferruggia.com/ Podcast: itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/reneg…id853941025?mt=2 Enjoy this conversation with Jay and if you enjoyed it, please help us share it
Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Jose: Hello Stephen I'm so glad I found you and your podcast! I was wondering how do I sign up for your upcoming functional medicine education training? I work as a physical therapist and have found myself frustrated at times because I see many patients with issues other than musculoskeletal issues that I can't help. I also know other systemic issues may actually lead to the musculoskeletal pain they may be having. I have become interested in furthering my education with regard to funcional medicine. I would also love to get your opinion on whether you feel it would be a good choice to apply to a Naturopathic Doctor program which I recently have been seriously considering. I would love to better be able to help people and I plan on signing up for your classes if I am allowed to but I wonder whether I will be better able to make an impact with people by actually becoming a board certified naturopathic doctor? Any advice/information you can provide would be much appreciated. Thank You-Jose Jenett: Hi Dr. Cabral, First off, I love every episode and learn s much from you, so thank you!! I really look forward to every episode and have enjoyed the recent ones on ayervedic dosha’s. Much like you, my passion is to help people with their health in a natural Patric way. I’ve been looking at schools on line, but it’s hard to know where to go to get a degree as a natural path of practicianer, that doesn’t take seven years to complete, or break the budget. Can you recommend a great online school? Have you heard of new eden? If so, what are your thoughts on it in terms of achieving my goal? Thank you so much for any advise and help you can give. Jenett Elizabeth: Hi Dr Cabral, I've had a fixed retainer with bonded metal wires for about 7 years now, is it possible that some metals are leaching from the retainer and possibly exposing me to heavy metals? At least once a year I get a professional dental hygiene clean and the fixed retainer doesn't bother me other than the potential heavy metal toxicity. Currently considering having it removed but given the money I spent on correcting my teeth I really don't want my teeth misaligning back to how they were! (don't particularly wish to wear a plastic retainer at night either!). I wondered what your view is on this and whether it's best to have them removed or would a regular heavy metal detox alone be suffice? Ideally I'd simply do a hair tissue mineral analysis but frustratingly I am unable to do that right now. On a side note, I have more or less all the symptoms of low thyroid and some minor melasma (I understand melasma can persist due to excess copper levels). Have been taking gaia herbs adrenal support; understand weak adrenals also contribute to inability to excrete excess copper. Taking multivitamin (Nature's plus source of life gold), milk thistle to help detox the liver along with pure Hawaiian spirulina. I wondered if there is also any potential link with scoliosis and heavy metals? I presume any type of metal in the body would propose heavy metal risk? Look forward to your upcoming show with your biological dentist! Thank you for all you do. (London, UK) Ashley: Hi Dr. Cabral, I love your podcasts, you have inspired me in many ways! I wanted to see if you have any experience with abnormal/irregular migraines? I have had only 3 in my life and they have been very spread out. During the first one I actually believed I was having a mini stroke. It starts with an aura in which a figure in my vision is blurred and I start to feel uneasy and dizzy. Then I get a headache and then I get numbness in my left hand. I have gone to Neurologists a couple of times and they have done many tests, MRI's even had an echocardiogram and they have no idea what is causing this. Do you have any suggestions? It is very scary when this happens. Best, Ashley Evelyn: Hi, I have a history of indigestion as well as heartburn and I get bouts of loose stool where I have to run to the bathroom. I am fighting severe fatigue with a past history of Lyme disease, H Pylori, and Babesia that I treated for a year homeopathically through a specialist in Maine. I have started to take B2 which seems to be helping. I have tried immune system boosters but it seems like those overstimulate my system and cause things to get worse. I have a superb diet and am a pescatarian. I do not eat dairy or wheat and I workout 5-6 days a week doing mostly cardio. I struggle with a hiatal hernia as well (on and off), which my mom and daughters also struggle with. Jim B.: Hi, I struggle with having to constantly clear my throat due to phlegm. I have tried cutting wheat/gluten and dairy out of my diet and that did not seem to help. I am not sure what causes this or where to begin. I also have many small, splitting and cracking cuts at the tips of my fingers to the point of pain and it is much worse in the winter time. No lotion has seemed to help. Swimming in salt water and being in humidity clears it up right away, but living in Maine I do not often have the option and it comes back right away. Lastly, while I am sleeping at night I am constantly jerking and making sudden movements, almost like full body twitching. Looking forward to hearing from you, thanks so much! L Caesar: Hey Dr. Cabral. From Tobago. Great show. It has been a life changer ever since I heard you in Jason Ferruggia's podcast and I recommend it to everyone I know. Rain Barrel Effect book is excellent. Just wondering if you've ever done a show with regard to an ayurvedic take or what natural means are they, if any to boost both male & female virility, enhancement, libido etc with regard to sexual performance and measures to prevent any onset of problems like erectile dysfunction, loss of erection, dyspareunia, loss of sexual desire etc. Used search bar and didn't come up with anything. As always keep up great work. It's making a huge difference worldwide. Katie Meuse: Hi Dr. Cabral & Team! I've been loving the Ayurveda podcasts. I've recently read "The Rain Barrel Effect" and "The Paleovedic Diet", and Vasant Lad's "Ayurveda-The Science of Self-Healing" many times, yet I'm still struggling with choosing the correct foods for my dosha. I'm pretty positive I'm a Vata-Kapha. I'm 43 with no health issues, but want to lose 10 pounds (mostly around my middle). I'm a yoga instructor and have been teaching for 15 years. Although I'm from New England originally I live in South Florida now, and also find it hard swear off smoothies & cold foods when it's always hot here. So many of the vata pacifying foods contradict the kapha pacifying. How do I know which is out of balance? Since I've accumulated a little weight, should I lean toward the kapha diet? I did the 7 day detox a few weeks ago and did lose 3 pounds, but a couple crept back LOL. I'm planning on doing it again soon. Thanks for your help!! Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Let’s get started! Ashley: First off thanks for all of the amazing podcasts, I’m fairly new to them but you’re the only podcast I listen to on a regular basis because the information is so applicable to not only my life but the lives of people around me! Quick question, I’m from Indiana and recently went on a snowboarding trip to Keystone, CO. The second day I noticed a headache that Dr. Google led me to believe was a tension headache and my resting heart rate was in the hundreds, I believe I was experiencing issues with the altitude and it seemed to get worse until we boarded the plane to head home. I believe my Indiana lungs / heart couldn’t handle the elevation. I don’t plan on giving up traveling to these high elevations, is there any way to prepare my body for another high altitude trip? Normal resting HR in the 60’s, drink recommend fl. oz. of water per day if not more, hot yoga recently started, lift 3x a week, no caffeine drinks ever...much room for improvement though! Thanks for everything! :) Merrin: Hi, I have been battling a mild candida glabrata vaginal infection for 12 months. I've tried the candida diet and boric acid but nothing has worked. I'm about to start a 5 week course of amphotericin cream and am wondering if you have experience in helping women specifically with candida glabrata (non-albicans)? I'm in Australia, so do you do skype consults and how do I access any necessary supplements? BTW - I love your podcasts! Don: DR. Cabral, For the last 7 to 8 years I’ve been dealing with what my Urologists calls pelvic floor dysfunction. Meaning when I eat certain foods it causes my bladder to spasm which pushes on my pelvic floor tightening the muscles, making me feel like I need to use the bathroom more often. The worst time for this is of course at night. Often this can be severe enough to cause some burning or stinging at the end of my penis. I first noticed this after eating sweet fruits like pineapple, mangos, spotted bananas, and citrus fruits especially lemons. But the past couple years it has progressed to foods like sweet potatoes, cooked carrots and occasionally squash. My urologist said the only thing that I can do is eliminate the trigger foods, but the list keeps getting longer. Also I’ve noticed stress and any type of single leg exercises (like lunges) can aggravate this issue as well. Things I’ve have tried; deep breathing, meditation, kegels, an anti-anxiety medication, and yoga, none of which seemed to help. Is this a pelvic floor issue; meaning my pelvic floor needs to be stretched or strengthened? Or do you think it is something internal going on that I need to get taken care of? I want to make sure I am making good choices financially to get this handled, but I’m not sure if I should run one of your lab tests first or just go straight to the Urinary Protocol, or maybe it is something else like Candida Overgrowth. P.S. Love the show, I originally heard you on Renegade radio with Jason Ferruggia. I’m so glad I found you. Thanks, Don Emily: Hi Dr. Cabral, I'm a 26 years old female experiencing thinning of hair and hair loss. I have a section that is becoming bald. I have been on birth control pills for 10 years. No family history of hair loss. Relatively healthy. Not stressed out. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help Gail: Hi Dr Cabral, Love your podcasts, they have given me so much inspiration to get well.Ten years ago I had breast cancer.Lumpectomy,6months of chemotherapy,12 weeks radiation, steroids etc followed by 5 years of follow up meds, etc. My thyroid went crazy, been on thyroxine ever since.I would appreciate your advise on a place to start on my way back to health. Cheers Gail Celeste: Hello Dr. Cabral, Much like you, my introduction to natural healing and functional medicine began after I had an ailment that medicine couldn't solve. The healing I saw my body do for itself was so life changing that I decided to change my entire college path to try and leverage schooling to educate others about our body's natural ability to heal itself. I am about to graduate from college with a basic Health Science degree. I was just wondering what advice you had on my next steps? I want to go to graduate school eventually. I have been going back and forth between some type of Nutrition degree, PT school, or....? I am at a loss for where to go. My ideal job would be a health coach or something along those lines. Do you have any recommendations for a graduate program or certificate program I can begin to look into for the upcoming few years? Thank you! Carla: Hi Dr. Cabral, Is there a way to naturally restore thinning skin? I'm 36 and was treating what I think are flat warts on the back of my hands with tea tree oil, and while it hasn't seemed to do much for the warts it's significantly thinned my skin. It looks kind of like smooth wrinkled tissue paper and gets dry very easily and sore if I wash my hands a lot. I work with my hands which doesn't help, but I've been putting sesame, castor and coconut oils on at night and whenever I can, but they haven't really done much. Is there anything else I can do? Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Let’s get started! Lisa: Hi, Dr. Cabral! I am 48 years old and about 175 lbs. I'm always bloated, but I eat healthy. My upper right stomach area is more bloated and distended than the left. My Dr. isn't concerned because of how long it's been like that; assuming it;s from the 4 c-sections I've had in the past. I always feel bloated. I know that stress has me producing Cortisol (based upon my own research). Should I try an elimination diet? Joana: Dear Dr. Cabral, I have been listening and reading the information that you have been giving in your podcast and in your site for a week now. You have a lot of great information. Probably you have talked about this before but I still didn't find it...my question is: if you had a friend who is studying to be a functional or integrative health coach or doctor, which 5 books would you give her as a present? Thank you so much for all that you do. I hope this question is of interest to you. Louis: Dr. Cabral, I heard you on the Jason Ferruggia podcast and was very impressed with how intuitive you were regarding ectomorphs, training, etc. It really struck a chord with me. That being said, I'm actually writing on behalf of my father. He suffers from an extremely low platelet count and suffers from something called MDS. I was just wondering if you had any suggestions on how he could naturally raise his platelet count. I can be reached at the e-mail address provided. Thank you very much. Alex: Hello Dr. Cabral, i’ve Been a big fan of your podcast for some time now, been in your Boston office for a massage and an infra-red sauna, done a 7-day detox and follow many of your recommendations. I’m 90% vegetarian and do not take any medications other than biotin, ashwaganda, Vit D, and magnesium or Valerian root (at night). About 6-7 weeks ago I noticed a big bright pink spot under my arm, within the next 2 weeks similar but smaller spots appeared on my chest, stomach and upper legs. There are also multiple smaller spots surrounding these big spots. They are somewhat itchy but not too bad. I went to see a dermatologist who diagnosed me with Pityriasis rosea and gave me cortisone cream. I have not picked up that prescription cream from the pharmacy, but instead tried to use coconut oil, tea tree oil on these spots with no results. Dr. Google also has no info on the root cause or treatment for this condition and basically says that it usually goes away with 8-10weeks on its own. I have not seen any improvement and would like to get your opinion. Can you recommend any treatment? Truly appreciate your help and the education that you provide daily. Thank you! Bryan: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and have been put on a beta blocker to help control the symptoms. My goal is not to be on medication for my whole life as I am only 32. Other then losing weight, what other suggestions from a naturopathic point of view can I do to help keep my heart in normal sinus rhythm? Thank you for the help! Bryan Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral, So glad I found your podcast and appreciate everything you do. I've been battling gas, bloating and constipation for years and was recently diagnosed with SIBO. I listened to episode #544 on "Mono meals" and you mentioned that you don't advise people with weak digestive systems to eat salads but the Candida Protocol recommends a diet high in vegetables. What is the best course of action while on the Candida Protocol ? Cooked over raw vegetables ? Stay away from veggies all together ? Thank you! Donna: Dear Dr. Cabral Support Team, I listened to a recent podcast on cookware. In local stores I saw ceramic (nonstick) cookware. Is that what is recommended because I wasn't sure about the nonstick coating. Also I saw some spoons/Turners molded from 100% bamboo but also had a slick nonstick coating. Should those be totally wood instead? Respectfully, Donna Donna: Dear Support Team, My Dr. doesn't think I am absorbing water very well since my skin is dry and my throat gets dry every night through the night. I weigh 128#/ 5'6". I drink approx. 72oz. of water daily. I work out, eat a Dr. Cabral clean diet, Have done the 7 day detox, 90 Candida Gut Cleanse followed by the two supplements to seal it up (Healthy Belly and forgot the other one), a liver cleans. I take magnesium, his Vit. C, Vit. D, a pharmaceutical grade fish oil,Probiotic, Dr. Cabral recommended healthy fats, and I just started on his daily shakes & fruit/veggie powder, and use the counter top Berkey filter with our well water. Any suggestions? Respectfully, Donna Thank you for tuning into this weekend’s Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right! - - - Show Notes & Resources: http://StephenCabral.com/730 - - - Get Your Question Answered: http://StephenCabral.com/askcabral

Jason Ferruggia joins me on the show to get real with why and how we do things in life. Why do we train the way we do, why we eat the way we do, why training 3 days a week is best, why eating 'clean' is best but life is for enjoyment, why stress is crippling our minds, why life is about living - which many of us are not doing, why your mind is the stumbling block for everything we attempt to achieve, and why the expectations of the fitness industry have been holding people back for years in living to their true potential. This is an EPIC show. Visit: www.jasonferruggia.com for more info

On this Single Tasking Aloha Friday, Aipa shares his thoughts on the importance of surrounding yourself with strength. He touches upon how listening to podcasts such as, Jason Ferruggia, Pat Flynn, Tim Ferris, John Lee Dumas, and others empower him to become stronger. "Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don't see it yourself." - Edmund Lee "You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with." - Jim Rohn When you are looking for a little strength to get you over a challenge, an obstacle, or even if you need some help (we all could use a little help), you need to surround yourself with strength even it means you have to get out of your comfort zone. If you are looking for more strength in your life, the first place to look is the people who you spend the most time around. If they are negative, bring you down instead of lift you up, and influence bad habits and bad behaviors, you need to re-assess what you want out of your life and think about letting go. This is hard to do, but you will only become stronger. Contact us to tell Aipa what you thought about today's show. You can reach us at info@thekuproject.com with your feedback and questions.
