Ever fancied a trip to the rolling vineyards of southern France, complete with a glass of exquisite Merlot, without leaving your living room? This episode swirls around the heady aromas of a 2021 Rassoul vintage, but that's just the prelude to an intoxicating exploration of the insurance industry's latest gyrations. We're uncorking the complexities of AM Best's ratings dance, Trump's bond buzz, and Lloyd's impressive performance in 2023. Alongside this, we're sifting through the calls for oversight in the murky world of litigation funding. Paired with tales of southern France, our musings are bound to whet your appetite for both the finer things and the financial intricacies that shape our world. The scene shifts as we navigate the intricacies of insurance ratings, likening the tension of downgrades to the final minutes of a football match facing relegation—case in point, Pie Insurance Group's recent slips and stumbles. Bain Capital's strategic leap into GuideOne and lingering echoes of Mitt Romney's tenure at Bain adorn our conversation. We also share insights from our guest expert, who lifts the veil on Lloyd's of London's secretive syndicates and their storied successes. This chapter is a masterclass in decoding the signals sent by credit rating agencies and sifting through the sector's strategic plays—from GuideOne's unique market stance to the peculiarities of Lloyd's inner workings. Our talk takes a more serious turn, delving into the significant turnaround at Lloyd's of London and the post-pandemic silence within the walls of its iconic building. A reflection on American attitudes towards legal reforms and the disproportionate gains enjoyed by litigation funders over plaintiffs marks a sobering discussion. We wrap it up on a cautionary note, dissecting urgent recalls that hit close to home: the Jule Baby Nova baby swings and Anchor's lithium-ion battery-powered coolers. The perils of product safety are not taken lightly here, as we navigate the fine line between innovation and consumer protection, all while dishing out relatable nuggets about life's little challenges. Join us for an episode that promises more than just a sip of knowledge—it's a full-bodied experience. Levy was named as one of three top global change-makers working for Diaspora Jewry by leading Israeli newspaper, Makor Rishon, and awarded "Educator of the Year" by JNF for his leadership and service to the Australian Jewish community. He received an Australian Postgraduate Award for his research in Jewish identity and published "An Oasis In Time: Seven Thoughts for the Seventh Day" with Maggid Books and Koren Publishing. "Farscape 3·13: Scratch 'n Sniff Farscape goes Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Pulse Pistols in a colourful tale of a drunken caper gone pear-shaped. “Window shopping in fishnet stockings” (thanks EJ!) They're sucking juices out of 'Red', If we don't stop them, she'll be dead, What happened last night?, Are the girls alright?, I don't believe a word you've said!” (thanks Ric from the Delta Quadrant!) “lt's Fear and Loathing in Las Lomo! An expectation of relaxation quickly faces disintegration when intoxication, profligation, and illicit medication cause distraction and disorientation, allowing abduction, and subjugation. Without much preparation (and in spite of inebriation), our heroes undertake an investigation to discover their shipmates' location and, hopefully, secure their emancipation. Despite Pilot's disinclination, John attempts an explanation regarding their unscheduled reunification, but his disjointed recitation draws a hostile accusation of intentional obfuscation barring recohabitation.” (thanks Jenna!)“ Isn't it find how tales after the bender get blown out of Proportion?!” (thanks The Derp Prime!) “While exiled from Moya, John and D'Argo party hard, and wake up in a storefront. Jool and Chiana are used to create a sex drug, and the guys must save them by pretending to be rich bidders. And D'Argo meets Harvey.” (thanks Billy Roberts!) “The crew gets more than they bargained for when they get kicked off the ship onto a planet designed for pleasure. Featuring Tim Curry level thigh-highs, an alien voyeur, extract of ecstasy, and a fitting end to a loathable villain.” (thanks Redshirtwookiee!) “Welcome to space Vegas, but in this case what Moyas crew does on a beach-vacation-planet does not necessarily stay on a beach-vacation-planet. Watch in delight as an erotic Farscape fanfiction gets turned into a full canonical episode. Who will pass the taste test?” (thanks MatthewB!) “The gang cuts loose while on mandatory shore leave in space Vegas and have a morning we can all relate to. The only hangover cure? Flash backs, Dutch angles, and trying Pilot's patience. Look out for Praying Mantis voyeurs, dance offs, somehow familiar pick pockets, makeovers, and big comfy chairs. And yes, he looks as good in fish nets as you imagined.” (thanks JoolCase!) Oren Jacobson launched Project Shema to help build bridges between the Jewish community and the progressive movement. His grandfather was among the 10-percent of Polish Jews to survive World War II, making his life a statistical improbability. This truth guides and motivates Jacobson to "live a life worthy of the Jewish lives lost for the crime of being a Jew, dedicated to supporting, strengthening, and protecting all who are attacked for the crime of being who they are." He lives near Chicago with his wife Betsy, an ER Doctor, as well as with their son Noah Lincoln, and their dogs, who are named after great champions for justice, Eleanor Roosevelt and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Canadian-based Peter Ekstein is the founder of the Jewish Year of Service program, which sends Jewish recent high school grads to Israel for a year of service. It all started with his fear that the Canadian Jewish community is becoming less cohesive, thanks to rising rates of intermarriage, the falling rates of participation in Jewish institutions — like synagogues, day schools and summer camps — and the growing divide in attitudes towards Israel between older and younger Jews. Gidi Grinstein is the founder and president of The Reut Institute, a Tel Aviv based non-profit and non-partisan institution, described by Tom Friedman of the New York Times as, "Israel's premier strategy group." Before founding Reut, Grinstein served as Secretary and Coordinator of the Israeli negotiation team on the Permanent Status Agreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization in the Office, and later in the Bureau, of Prime Minister Ehud Barak ('99–'01). Grinstein is a graduate of Tel-Aviv University in Economics ('91) and Law ('99) and of Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government as a Wexner Israel Fellow ('02). Aliza Kline is the co-founder and CEO of OneTable which, since 2014, has grown to a national organization that engages tens of thousands Jewish young adults through peer-led Shabbat dinners. Also the founding executive director of Mayyim Hayyim (mayyimhayyim.org), Kline has devoted her career to re-imagining Jewish ritual open to the full diversity of the community. Farscape 3·04: Wait for the Wheel: Self-Inflicted Wounds, Part 2 When the crew discovers just how badly John's trust in the aliens was misplaced, they resume the fight to save their Leviathan; now it will take all of them, even Jool and her lungpower, to pull the fat out of the fire. After having just escaped Gayza, John has to return to her clutches in order to save everyone else. Meanwhile, Chiana, Jool and the old woman have to escape from prison while D'argo and Sikozu make plans.
An archaeological dig reunites D'argo and Jool with the rest of the crew. However, Grayza showing up puts a damper on the feelings of goodwill.
When Pilot is fed up with John and D'argo's bickering, he kicks the crew off Moya for an extended vacation on a pleasure planet that has a more than passing resemblance to Vegas. Dancing, drugs, and a seedy underbelly soon ensnare Chiana and Jool, while D'argo and John get roofied and robbed before getting their Ocean's 11 on, in one of the season's fun and creative episodes.
