Many real estate agents who operate solo feel trapped by their businesses. Scaling and growing a team is their way out of that. What holds many of us back from taking that next step? Tech companies are taking away the mindshare of past clients and people in our database. People are being inundated with content and value from these other entities, so there’s more competition. Last week, as you already know, I spent a few days at The Blue Mountain Real Estate Conference. In my last Episode which we recorded on site at the conference, I had mentioned that on Day 1 a portion of the Day 2 Audience got together, spread out across 2 rooms for a full day Mastermind session. We had my friends Andrew Fogliato, and Jeff Lobb moderating each of those rooms, and then myself and my friend Kathleen Black were floating between the two, part taking, and assisting in the flow of the conversation throughout the day. To start off, Jeff asked everyone to go around, introduce themselves, and share their 1 biggest challenge in this business. I of course sat there diligently taking notes, really interested in what people had to say. And in no particular order this is what came up -Should I join a team. Time Management. Branding. Staying Motivated. Admin. How to manage leads and the work life balance. Giving up control. Systems. Tracking. Social Media. And Consistency. Again, that was in no particular order, and there was absolutely no surprise here. It’s not about the team leader getting rich, it’s about every team member having a better lifestyle. -Kathleen Black Three Takeaways Inside sales add value Having an inside sales team boosts your business’s value. This is in terms of your recruitment process, as well as your ability to sell the company later on. Having a set system in place to manage the inside team is crucial for this to be effective. Inside and outside sales teams can coexist Having an inside sales team is great for nurturing relationships with clients who aren’t ready to enter into a transaction. However, it’s still important to have an outside team to deal with clients who are ready. The teams will compliment each other in this way. Where entrepreneurs go wrong While it’s important to have an ISA team, make sure you’re creating that team at the right time. Ideally, this should be when you have 3 to 4 strong selling outside agents. You also need to ensure you’re hiring the right person for the job- personality type is a big factor here. Go figure, it's already been 22 Weeks since I started The MindShare PodCast, and I can proudly say that I have executed releasing 1 PodCast per week consistently over the past 22 Weeks. That alone is its own challenge.In fact Time Management is a challenge for us all. Practice acceptance of the things you cannot control There will be days when you're forced to deal with bad clients, and there will always be reasons to feel anxious or angry about something. What makes a big difference is mood control, being emotionally resilient, and not letting emotions control you for the whole day. Worrying not only robs you of energy and enthusiasm but it also makes you focus your energy on things that aren't under your control. If you're constantly stressed out due to your fears and worries, you're actually making them more likely to come true, as worrying affects your energy levels and productivity, which leads to a vicious cycle. There will always be crisis in your life, but the best you can do is focus only on the things you can control. Try to speak a language that is appealing to all personality types. Have a system you believe inAnyone can memorize a good script, but what makes the difference between a good and an excellent agent is the ability to internalize it. You have to find out the “why” behind the script. This helps you be less nervous and pushy. When you know the value of what you are offering, it’s easier to act natural-- yet persuasive. Weed out the bad from the goodPut together a step-by-step system based on your notes for each lead and analyze whether they are worth your time. You only have so much brain power. This is why it’s important to save the notes about each lead. You can use the information later either to exclude leads or convert more by showing how familiar you are with their wants and needs. Real estate businesses work on a spectrum. There are two approaches: the aggressive salesman or the consultant. You will see the aggressive salesman depicted in literature, movies, and cartoons. It’s type of salesman everyone wants to avoid. On the other side of the spectrum is the consultant; the salesman that educates people on the pros and cons and never tries to manipulate them.
