I've applied that to the problems I see in the world that I feel need solving.Anxiety is one of the biggest mental health challenges of our time, affecting millions of people worldwide. Yet, despite the availability of treatments, many individuals hesitate to seek help due to stigma, cost, or lack of accessibility. Raj Amin, CEO and Co-Founder of Arcade Therapeutics, is tackling this problem by harnessing the power of gaming to provide evidence-based anxiety relief."One of the biggest challenges to engaging people is really the format of that engagement," Raj explained. "It's a big obstacle to get people into therapy. A lot of people haven't tried therapy. There's a lot of stigma associated with it. So we've got to figure out ways to give them an on-ramp to begin self-care. And that's really where gaming comes in."Arcade Therapeutics has developed a mobile game that integrates a psychological technique proven to reduce anxiety symptoms. Rather than requiring users to commit to therapy or medication right away, this game offers a more accessible and engaging way to start managing anxiety. "Two-thirds of Americans play games," Raj noted. "What if you could actually embed a psychological technique into the game that is proven to reduce anxiety symptoms? That's what we've done at Arcade."The company's business model relies on scientific validation, with research-backed methods that have undergone clinical trials funded in part by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This has positioned Arcade Therapeutics to be recognized as a digital therapeutic—a form of software-as-medicine. As a result, its products can be prescribed by doctors and reimbursed by insurance providers. With the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) rolling out new billing codes for digital mental health treatments starting in 2025, the company is poised for rapid growth.Arcade Therapeutics is currently raising capital through a regulated investment crowdfunding campaign on WeFunder, allowing everyday investors to support this innovative approach to mental health care. "We need to democratize the way that early-stage companies get built," Raj said. "Crowdfunding allows us to set the stage for a future where companies can be supported by the people who believe in them, including therapists and doctors who see the value in what we're building."Investors and mental health advocates interested in learning more can visit s4g.biz/AT to support Arcade Therapeutics' mission. By blending science with gaming, Raj and his team are making mental health support more engaging, accessible, and effective.tl;dr:* Raj Amin, CEO of Arcade Therapeutics, explains how gaming can be leveraged to treat anxiety.* Arcade Therapeutics' mobile game integrates a psychological technique clinically proven to reduce anxiety.* The company's business model relies on digital therapeutics, enabling insurance reimbursement for mental health treatments.* Raj discusses his superpower, creative problem-solving, and how it has shaped his career.* He shares actionable tips on fostering creativity, including context-switching and learning from diverse fields. How to Develop Creative Problem Solving As a SuperpowerRaj Amin's superpower is creative problem-solving. Throughout his career, Raj has applied his ability to connect different ideas and industries to create impactful solutions. "I would say that I have a creative side in how I think about new businesses," he shared in today's episode. "And I think I've applied that to the problems that I see in the world that I feel need solving."An illustrative example of Raj's superpower is his work with Arcade Therapeutics. Recognizing the stigma and barriers to mental health treatment, he saw an opportunity to use gaming—something millions of people engage with daily—as a platform for delivering anxiety-reducing therapies. "Gaming is something that people are already doing and it's engaging, but we can now apply that in a way that helps bring down stigma and improve access to earlier treatments for mental health," he explained. To develop creative problem-solving as a personal strength, Raj suggests:* Engage in context switching – "I might grab a guitar, play a song for 10 minutes, and then shift to a business challenge. The intersections between different activities often lead to new ideas."* Expose yourself to diverse fields – "Dive into new subjects. For instance, I explored AI and then thought about how it could be applied to mental health."* Solve problems you personally experience – "I created a mini AI-driven coach for myself to see how technology could be leveraged for mental wellness."By following Raj Amin's example and advice, you can make creative problem-solving a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileRaj Amin (he/him):CEO and Co-Founder, Arcade TherapeuticsAbout Arcade Therapeutics: We develop evidence-backed therapeutic games to help address $300B in US costs for untreated mental health conditions.Website: www.arcadetherapeutics.comOther URL: wefunder.com/arcadetherapeuticsBiographical Information: Raj Amin is the Co-Founder and CEO of Arcade Therapeutics, a pioneering healthcare startup transforming mental health treatment through innovative, game-based solutions backed by decades of neuroscientific research. Born with a knack for numbers, Danny started his journey in finance during high school as a supermarket cashier. Eventually following the advice of his elders to become an accountant, he attended and graduated from William Paterson University's Cotsakos College of Business with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. During college, he completed an internship and was eventually hired as a staff accountant with Avis Budget Group where he worked for 5 years. Feeling that something was missing, Danny began to search for a career where he could combine his love of finance with his passion for connecting with and helping people. In late 2012, that career found him, when his girlfriend (now wife) began working as the secretary for a small mortgage company. After hitting it off with the CEO Michael Sema at the company holiday party, Danny decided to try his hand at the mortgage industry. As fate would have it, in early 2013 Avis Budget Group was simultaneously going through consolidation and offered Danny two options. Either keep his staff accountant role and relocate from New Jersey to Virginia Beach, or part ways with the company and take a severance package. The news couldn't have come at a better time as Danny was already planning his exit and this just gave him the financial parachute and confidence to do so. Danny has been a licensed Mortgage Banker with Get A Rate since June 2013, licensed Life Insurance Agent since 2014 and licensed NJ Real Estate Agent since 2015. Branded by his peers as 'The Bearded Banker', he has been able to excel in the real estate industry by applying his knowledge in accounting, as well as his experience with owning, investing in, and flipping real estate, to help guide his clients not only through the delicate mortgage process but even beyond the initial transaction into the realms of personal finance, wealth creation, and wealth protection.

When it comes to our careers and our customer relationships, the way we FEEL is everything. Yet, there's a paradox happening in our workplaces. On the one hand, we are witnessing declining unemployment (now 4.8%), soaring corporate and consumer spending, and a frenetic hiring pace for marketing and CX professionals. On the other hand, drug overdoses in the USA have exceeded 100,000 this year. Mental health professionals are overbooked, Daycare and labor shortages impose stress for many families, and service workers are simply on edge. Anxiety is casting a shadow over today's organizations. Our job as marketing leaders is to keep our team's lights on, as well as our own.  That means we need ideas and strategies to minimize the long term harmful effects of anxiety, which is when we worry about the future, about things that have not happened. Chester Elton, a fellow 100 Coaches colleague and co-author of Anxiety at Work, joins me in this special episode.  Named one of the top Global Gurus of Leadership and the Apostle of Appreciation, his four bestselling books have sold over 1.6 million copies. Chester works with top leaders at American Express, AT&T, Avis Budget Group, the NHL, and Procter & Gamble Together we unpack the sources of anxiety at work and ways you can mitigate them Tune in this power-packed episode of The Mindful Marketer show —Overcoming Anxiety At Work with Chester Elton. Watch the LinkedIn Replay. Key points covered in this episode:  ✔️ You can't have a healthy team and a productive culture if you're not addressing mental health and safety.  When someone in a position of leadership has themselves been anxious, it requires transparency & sharing from their heart what they have been going through to help others be aware that what they are feeling isn't pathologic but is quite normal in this climate.   ✔️ Understand the distinction that anxiety happens when you spend too much time worrying or obsessing about things that have not happened and may never happen in the future, while depression is when you overthink or obsess about something that happened in the past.  ✔️ 90% of employees won't talk to their manager and supervisor about mental health or anxiety. It's time to normalize the conversation around mental health in the workplace. Chester Elton invites us to look at it in this context. "If you broke your arm and came to work with your arm in a sling, they say, 'Oh, geez, Lisa, you don't take care of yourself. Take some time off, you know? Have you seen all the right doctors? Have you taken care of everything you need to take care of?' And yet, when somebody comes to work with anxiety or mental health issues, we won't talk about that. We'll talk about a broken arm, but we won't talk about overload. We won't talk about anxiety." ✔️ We either psychologize or somaticize our anxiety. Dr. Anna Yusim, a clinical faculty at Yale who has been managing stress in the workplace with colleagues and patients for the last 15 years, explains how often these manifests in different ways in different people. Listen to the replay on Stitcher.  ✔️ Great leaders in this day and age are not the peak performers but those who possess empathy as the most crucial attribute. If you can't be empathetic with your people and create a safe place to talk about your individual team member's mental health issues, none of that other stuff matters.  ✔️ Provide ample resources to help people deal with their anxiety. Lending them an ear and empathy and compassion as a manager and as a leader is hugely important. Giving resources, perhaps referring them to a therapist so that the anxiety does not get to a point where it becomes a diagnosable condition that further affects their workplace performance. Watch the replay on YouTube. ✔️ Be careful about your list of employee to-dos. Watch out for giving lots of extra work to your most effective or busiest people because often, your top performers have the most anxiety. They're the ones that don't ever want to let anybody down and are defined by the work they can get done by the boxes they can check on their lists. Chester advises looking for changes in behavior because these top performers never say no, and they're good at hiding it.  ---------------------------------------------------------------- Lisa Nirell of EnergizeGrowth™ LLC helps courageous marketers and CEOs accelerate growth and get promoted faster. The global car rental market was estimated to be $85 Billion in 2019. The car rental market shrunk to $58 Billing in 2020, due to the pandemic. However, the global car rental market is expected to bounce back and grow to an estimated $150 Billion in 2027. Some of the key players are Avis Budget Group, Hertz Group, and Enterprise Holdings. Now that there are alternatives to the traditional car rental market, average everyday people can now gain access to this market to start a side hustle or a full-time business. In this episode, Brandi and I will discuss the ins and outs of how to start your car rental business with little to no major investment and create a new stream of income.

Beckman Chemical Engineering Department University of Pittsburgh Many consumers would agree that using truly environmentally friendly products is a good thing. However, having to wade through a sea of less-than-accurate "green" advertising claims as well as the perception that greener products don't work as well or are more expensive than their conventional cousins has left customers feeling blue. The widespread use of misleading green claims has produced rampant skepticism regarding industry’s ability to design truly greener products leading some economists to conclude that without government support, greener products can't survive. Eric Beckman hopes to change that. Beckman believes it is possible to achieve real eco-innovation, where performance is enhanced even as the environmental footprint of a product is reduced. Beckman will discuss some of what he describes as the fundamental guiding principles of eco-innovation including developing and marketing products in a way that leaves customers saying, "It's green too? Cool!" Eric Beckman received his BS in chemical engineering from MIT in 1980, and a PhD in polymer science from the University of Massachusetts in 1988. Dr. Beckman assumed his faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh in 1989, was promoted to associate professor in 1994, and full professor in 1997. He received a Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation in 1992, and the Presidential Green Chemistry Award in 2002. He previously served as Associate Dean for Research for the School of Engineering and Chairman of Chemical Engineering. In 2003, Dr. Beckman co-founded the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation, a school of engineering institute that examines the design of more sustainable infrastructure. In 2005, he co-founded Cohera Medical Inc. to commercialize surgical adhesive technology developed at the University. Dr. Beckman took an entrepreneurial leave of absence from the University in 2007-2009 to help move the products to market. Dr. Beckman's research group examines the use of molecular design to solve problems in green product formulation and in the design of materials for use in tissue engineering. He has published over 175 papers and has received more than 40 US patents. Recorded at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, PA on Monday, December 2, 2013.

Employers added more workers to payrolls in October, according to the government's closely watched jobs report that showed the labor market significantly stronger than Wall Street expectations. There was a net gain of 166,000 jobs in the month. Economists had forecast an 80,000 increase in the period. The unemployment rate stayed at 4.7 percent. Treasuries fell after the government released the jobs report, suggesting that the U.S. economy is weathering the worst housing slump in 16 years. Investors sold bonds as the Labor Department data encouraged traders to reduce bets that the Federal Reserve will cut borrowing costs once more this year. This week the Fed said inflation and growth risks are ``roughly balanced.'' Orders for U.S.-made factory goods rose 0.2% in September on higher gasoline prices. Orders for durable goods, such as airplanes and computers, fell 1.7% on a big drop in orders for defense aircraft and other defense goods. Excluding defense goods, orders for factory goods rose 1.3%.In Forex News TodayThe U.S. dollar fell against the euro in early trading Friday as markets looked ahead to the release of non-farm payrolls data amid continuing worries about the credit crunch. The 13-nation euro bought $1.4471 Friday, up from the $1.4462 it bought in late New York trading, but down from Wednesday's record high of $1.4503. The U.S. currency plummeted Wednesday after the Federal Reserve's decision to cut interest rates by a quarter of a point, and has continued to suffer from market jitters about the U.S. economy driven by the sub-prime market crisis as markets looked ahead to the release of information about the October U.S. non-farm payrolls data later Friday. In addition, the euro has been helped by sentiment that the European Central Bank has yet to finish a gradual campaign of rate increases, while the pound has benefited from expectations that the Bank of England will leave rates untouched rather than follow the Fed in cutting the cost of borrowing.Scheduled Economic Reports (Next Week)ISM Services Index, Productivity, Wholesale Trade, Consumer Credit, Trade, Import Prices, and Consumer SentimentIn Earnings NewsChevron (CVX) reported third-quarter net income fell 26%.
