Special: Adam Bricker, ASC Cinematographer Adam Bricker, ASC chats with Illya at our live podcast event hosted by the Broadcast Education Association at NAB Las Vegas. Adam discusses his early career and education, his breakthrough role as the DP of Chef's Table on Netflix, and his work as the sole cinematographer on all four seasons of the Max TV show, Hacks. Adam enjoys shifting between the documentary style of Chef's Table and the narrative scripted comedy of Hacks. "I want my documentary work to be like a movie, and I want my movies to feel more like documentaries," he says. "So I think that they're obviously different muscles. I've been lucky to do a season of Hacks, and then spend the summer traveling with my friends and shooting Chef's Table and then going back to Hacks." You can watch the current season of Hacks on Max, and the new season of Chef's Table: Legends will be on Netflix April 28. Darian DeVries took the West Virginia job 12 months ago, brought his son with him, and won 10 more games than West Virginia had the year before! Indiana is different, but as different as Drake and West Virginia? Ben McCollum may have told Indiana he would not talk during the MVC Tournament in St. Louis - or maybe it was another school, but the Drake AD said "a school" did that, and I believe him. Colts will draft in the second and third round one month from tonight, and those picks need to hit - just as the first rounder at 14 does. Caitlin Clark's interview with David Letterman drops on Netflix April 8, and the previews are awesome. Life Insurance Corporation's much-awaited IPO is finally opening on May 4. But much like the initial euphoria around it, its size also looks diminished. Its current valuation is now Rs 6lakh crore, less than half of the expected value of around Rs 13lakh crore. Three years ago, the government had faced backlash for underpricing the IRCTC IPO. So is the government undervaluing another state-run behemoth? Or has it taken this call after due diligence?  LIC IPO may well attract a fresh wave of investors into the markets. Something similar had happened with OTT platforms during the lockdown, when people of all ages turned to it. In 2020, Netflix had added 36 million subscribers. But the streaming giant saw its customer base shrink by 200,000 during the January-March quarter. And it has projected a loss of another 2 million subscribers in the current quarter. Netflix is now mulling a low-cost subscription supported by advertising. What it would mean for it and for the Indian OTT ecosystem? After Netflix, let us move on to markets. It has been a rollercoaster ride for investors during the April F&O series, with bears having the slight edge. Will they triumph? Or will the bulls fight back today?  Russia-Ukraine war is not just shaping the markets. It is forging ties between countries too. India and the European Union (EU) agreed to establish a Trade and Technology Council early this week. What it is and what both the sides will gain from it, listen to this episode of the podcast to know.  Watch video

The film Coded Bias follows MIT Media Lab researcher Joy Buolamwini through her investigation of algorithmic discrimination, after she accidentally discovers that facial recognition technologies do not detect darker-skinned faces. Joy is joined on screen by experts in the field, researchers, activists, and involuntary victims of algorithmic injustice. Coded Bias was released on Netflix April 5, 2021, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year, and has been called “‘An Inconvenient Truth’ for Big Tech algorithms” by Fast Company magazine. We talk to director Shalini Kantayya about the impetus for the film and how to tackle the threats these challenges pose to civil rights while working towards more humane technology for all.

The "New on Netflix" list of movies is out for April 2020 and things are looking good. Today on the show TC and SNIPdaily's Senior Streaming Analyst Duane Beckett talk about the best movies on Netflix including The Matrix, Django Unchained, and Lethal Weapon. Duane provides his torturous review of the new Netflix series called The Letter For The King. He's not kind to this horrible series that is the ultimate in Hollywood stupidity and predictability. Reese Witherspoon has a new limited series on Hulu and it's called Little Fires Everywhere. Our review of the first three episodes is that the show isn't as bad as The Letter For The King, yet other than that? Oof. The guys preview the docu-series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness with our review planned for Tuesday's show. Finally the guys start a new feature called The Greatest Of All-Time. You can watch Good Will Hunting on Hulu this month. TC just saw it for the first time recently and calls it a very good movie. Duane? He thinks it's a Top 10 movie of all-time. That's a bold statement, Beckett! Being in the midst of a massive theatrical rollout of so many films, this was definitely an inevitable choice for us to talk about. And yes, we will be gushing over how good Heroes Rising is, along with just how strong of a series My Hero Academia really is, because it’s just that. Beyonce released her groundbreaking performance at the 2018 Coachella festival via Netflix April 17th  TBB came together with our friends at Everyday Fro Day and actor friend Leemore Marrett Jr. to discuss what we liked and didn't like about Homecoming ... needless to say, the discussion got a little ... heated!!  The music documentary included the concert and behind the scenes footage. Detailing what went into pulling off the performance which celebrated Historically Black College & University (HBCU)culture with a college style band, and dance moves which included traditional stepping moves.

I've been getting loads of questions today about the actors who were caught up in the college admissions scandal, mentioned on last night's podcast - http://tinyurl.com/y277jsuk - about why Felicity Huffman has been arrested, and both Lori Loughlin and her husband are being charged, but Huffman's husband William H. Macy has so far avoided any legal troubles. I have to admit I'm puzzled, since Macy is actually named in the criminal complaint, but I'm happy to speculate. In the meantime, I'm very happy to report that Bryan Singer has been fired from Red Sonja. Another toxic entertainment business figure with decades of abuse scandals for which he hasn't even tried to repent, he has no place on a film set until there's been a full investigation of his many alleged crimes. Lastly, two shows are returning for the second half of their seasons on Netflix - one (Arrested Development) has aged terribly, while the other (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is doing amazing, bold things with its characters and storytelling. Check out the poster for CAOS Part 2, coming to Netflix April 5, here: http://tinyurl.com/yxlylcn3 Thanks for checking out tonight's episode - make sure to subscribe to the show, and to leave ratings and reviews! Telling a story of young environmentalists reaching for their dreams. In This Podcast: Becoming a scriptwriter had been a goal she set to the side while she worked her way into corporate finance law. However, when Vivienne DeCourcy heard the story of a young award winning garden designer's journey, she found her way back. She shares how searching for a garden design consult then filled her need to connect to nature and introduced her to an amazing woman with an amazing story. This is the background of how the film Dare to Be Wild was completed.  Don't miss an episode! Click here to sign up for podcast updates or visit www.urbanfarm.org/podcast Vivienne came from a long family line of market gardeners, academics and rebels, yet somehow found herself having lived for 20 years in a Chicago high rise practicing corporate finance law. She really missed the landscape of her childhood - between Dublin and West Cork, and after getting breast cancer in her early thirties, she left corporate law, followed a childhood dream and started writing scripts.  She went back home and bought a small hill farm where her love for natural landscape, writing, and trying to make the farm hers, came together and gave her the opportunity to write the script for Dare to be Wild, released spring 2016. DARE TO BE WILD, is a romantic adventure based on the true story of two young environmentalists, whose quest is to show the world the power of wild nature as they reach for their dreams - one garden, one vast desert, at a time. SPECIAL UPDATE:  This film opens on Netflix APRIL 1st! Go to www.urbanfarm.org/daretobewild for more information and links on this podcast, and to find our other great guests.
