Welcome back to PURGATORY!!!!!! This week Mike and Jeremy get to talk about an 80's action film made in 2013 titled Homefront directed by Gary Felder. The script is based off of Chuck Logan's novel by the same name in 2005. The book was adapted by none other than Sly Stallone himself. The film stars Jason Statham, Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth, Izabela Vidovic, Omar Benson Miller, Clancy Brown, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Marcus Hester, Frank Grillo, Rachelle Lefevre and....James Franco as Morgan "Gator" Bodine lol Thanks for checkin us out, you can find all of our back catalog on Podbean.com.

Pray for our Sinners….so that we might have GREAT CINEMA!!!!Brilliant, commercially and critically successful director Ryan Coogler has gifted us with Coogler #5: Sinners, a Jim Crow-era set, period drama-hybrid-horror-musical fusion. The Boys review the film starring Michael B. Jordan playing twins(!) and a wonderful cast of veterans (Delroy Lindo, Omar Benson Miller, Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O'Connell) and newcomers (Miles Caton, Li Jun Li, Jayme Lawson). This exciting original IP film may not break new ground with its gangster-juke joint-night of supernatural chaos plot but its ingenious fusion of sumptuous visuals, genre defying music based on Southern Black Blues, and kitchen sink story elements and technical proficiency makes for a theatrical experience unlike any you will see this year. The only question is: Which host has more of a critical eye on this unique period genre epic? Put a stake right through our new episode and FIND OUT! And theeeeen…..WillDaBeast keeps the music theme running from the review to his plus while Cupcake reviews a new streaming film with a misleading poster and a huge misdirection over the plot with a third act twist. #podcast #newpodcast #movie #moviereview #moviereviewpodcast #film #filmisnotdead #cinematography #filmcritic #sinners #ryancoogler #michaelbjordan #ludwiggoransson #autumnduraldarkapaw #milescaton #saulwilliams #jackoconnell #lijunli #delroylindo #jaymelawson #haileesteinfeld #percybell #omarbensonmiller #wunmimosaku #percybell #christophernolan #proximitymedia #warnerbros #DomainEntertinamentTIMESTAMPS00:00:00 Opening 00:01:28 INTRO00:03:25 Sinners: Below the Line00:13:59 Sinners: The Cast00:28:03 Spoiler Free00:44:17 Spoilers Ahead!01:08:25 Mike's Plus01:13:40 Jose's Plus01:18:39 Outro / Pod Roll- - - - - - - - - -WE ARE WATCH SKIP PLUS! This movie is as gorgeous as its cast, and we would name them all, but that's too many. So, to name a few, we have Michael B. Jordan as TWINS, Omar Benson Miller as a tasty southern snack, Wunmi Mosaku as a true breakout star, and Hailee Steinfeld as not the final girl! Wanna watch us instead? IAP might have a different, and very likely unpopular, opinion about Ryan Coogler's new highly acclaimed film SINNERS. For this episode host Wood asks three major questions about details that the bigger, more popular podcasts seemingly overlooked. Overall, salute to Coogler, lead actor Michael B. Jordan, Wunmi Mosaku, Omar Benson Miller, Delroy Lindo and Hailee Stanfeld. However, I dig the movie but hold onto some degree of objectivity to question why some choices were made with character development, as well as historical accuracy when it comes to the dialogue. So let's talk about the hottest movie of 2025. And if you don't dig the opinions and views shared here - well, It's Always Personal.
Joe, Kyle, and Rick are joined by ScottByScott from A New Low to review the hip-hop biographical drama, 8 Mile. Directed by Curtis Hanson and written by Scott Silver. The film stars Eminem, Kim Basinger, Brittany Murphy, Mekhi Phifer, Omar Benson Miller, and Anthony Mackie. We ranked 11 performances from the film and picked our favorite lines, characters, performers, and scenes. Enjoy!

Original movies are back! Sort of. This past weekend we truly experienced a phenomenon. Ryan Coogler's fifth feature film, his first film to not be based on existing IP or real events, Sinners, opened to rave reviews and decent box office numbers. This is a massive feeling film shot in Imax about a subject very personal to Coogler, as we track Michael B. Jordan portraying twins Smoke & Stack as they assemble a posse to open a juke joint in antebellum south at the turn of the century, only to find themselves under attack by none other than vampires. Boasting a supporting cast consisting of Hailee Steinfeld, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Li Jun Li, Omar Benson Miller, Jack O'Connell, Delroy Lindo & newcomer Miles Caton, this movie is NOT one to be missed in theaters (16:57). We also talk about the next episode of Lost, in which Kate has a premonition about her father whom she murdered, while Locke & Eko grow closer over their shared intrigue of the hatch. Keep coming back every week for more Lost recaps and movie reviews only on the #talkintvpodcast
Director Ryan Coogler is back to deliver us more goods on the big screen with his latest original film, of course with Michael B. Jordan, Sinners. The trailers for this film have been absolutely fascinating and the hints over the years of Coogler's next project being an original and a horror film were extremely exciting to me. That's because I don't think he's made a single movie below the 'great' level. I enjoy his two Black Panther films immensely and about equally. The two more impressive outings in his career so far though have been his debut feature Fruitvale Station, a heartbreaking true story, and one of the greatest sports films of all-time: Creed, a legacy sequel that managed to top anything that had come before... and the original Rocky won Best Picture! Coogler is one of the best working directors, as I've clearly established, and him managing to make a high-budget, genre-blender and still managing to maintain the rights is just such a boss move, while the very easy next step for him would have been to continue immediately with what would've been a surefire hit in Black Panther III. Anyhow, is this movie as good as the rave reviews so far have indicated? Find out in this NON-SPOILER review!Sinners:Written and Directed by: Ryan CooglerProduced by: Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, Sev OhanianExecutive Producers: Pete Chiappetta, Rebecca Cho, Will Greenfield, Ludwig Göransson, Andrew Lary, Anthony TittanegroCo-Producers: Tina Anderson, Kenneth YuAssociate Producer: Ammar MohamedMusic by: Ludwig GöranssonDirector of Photography: Autumn Durand Arkapaw Edited by: Michael P. "Sinners" is the newest film by director Ryan Coogler, and it's quite unlike anything else you'll likely see this year. It is a Deep Jim Crow South-era gangster film that turns into a vampire action horror film with its soul infused with blues music. It stars a wonderful cast led by a fantastic dual performance from Michael B. Jordan. Cast members Miles Caton, Jack O'Connell, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, Li Jun Li, and Delroy Lindo were all kind enough to spend some time talking with us about their experience working on the film, which you can watch or listen to below. Please be sure to check out the film, which will open in theaters from Warner Bros. Pictures on April 18th. Thank you, and enjoy! Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on... [NB: Due to file-corruption issues, this episode's sound isn't stellar; apologies for any inconvenience!] Critics were kindly disposed towards The Express, a well-meaning Ernie Davis bio-pic that seems to count on knee-jerk positive responses to 1) sports movies that 2) defy bigotry. It's done well, mostly, even though the dialogue really isn't how people speak to each other, mostly, and the traditional football-feelm structure wastes certain excellent actors while giving others more than they can handle -- so we're landing on "creditable, but not crucial." The Quaidosity is a more ambiguous prospect; after SDB regrettably uses the phrase "liminal space," we ponder the changing nature of the "qua" in "Quaid Qua Quaid," and DQ's transition from rakish pilot to avuncular coach/cop. Will Roy Williams-branded cliché containers, teratomae of movie rage, and the birth of a weird Brittany Murphy runner add up to a victory for our side? Join host Elias as he sits down with actor Omar Benson Miller to discuss his iconic role as Gib in the CBS action-comedy series "True Lies". Omar shares behind-the-scenes stories and insights into bringing the character to life, as well as his overall experiences working on the show. From his early beginnings in the industry to his current success, Omar reflects on his career in Hollywood and offers valuable advice to aspiring actors. Whether you're a fan of "True Lies" or interested in learning more about the craft of acting, this episode is a must-listen. Tune in for an engaging conversation with one of the industry's most talented actors. TRUE LIES, inspired by James Cameron's hit action-comedy film of the same name, follows Harry (Steve Howey), a first-class international spy for U.S. intelligence agency Omega Sector, and his wife, Helen (Ginger Gonzaga), a language professor bored with her daily routine, who makes the shocking discovery that her seemingly ordinary husband is leading an extraordinary double life. With the secret out, Omega recruits Helen, who impresses everyone with her formidable skills (thanks to Tae Bo and yoga), and she joins Harry and his team of top-notch operatives, embarking on covert missions around the globe and an exhilarating life of danger and adventure … all while keeping their adventures a secret from their three teenage children. The renewed bond between them adds much-needed sizzle to the Taskers' emotionally distant marriage and upends the top-secret world of Omega Sector. But, as Harry says, if you're going to save the world, you might as well do it for the ones you love. You can watch this interview on YouTube https://youtu.be/V998AkXOcg4 Have a question? Perhaps you've heard the sentiment, “you can't really judge a person until you walk a mile in their shoes.” This thought goes beyond the idea of just a reprimand against being judgemental. It's one that reminds us to have empathy and understanding of others' experiences and actions with an open heart and mind. The greatest example of walking in someone else's shoes is Jesus, being fully God, who stepped into humanity's shoes by being born into this world—so we could know with certainty that He experienced the same kinds of trials and losses, wants and needs that we all experience as humans. When we tune into how Jesus lived, we in turn can begin to tune into others, and like Jesus, show them love even when we don't understand or agree with them. Our guests this week are people who've had experience stepping into other people's shoes—one as a reporter who makes it her job to understand the people she is interviewing to best be able to tell their stories, and the other an actor, who has had to inhabit the lives of the characters, real and fictional, that he brings to life in TV and film. News anchor and author Harris Faulkner shares how the loss of her parents opened up a side of her that helps her relate to people in a more compassionate way—one that shows up when she's interviewing people about their own experiences, good and bad. Actor Omar Benson Miller tells us how he walks into each role he's given with the intention to gain the full experience of someone's story and how each character he has played has shown him the value of giving kind consideration to everyone's story. Lord, I need you to be a protector for them when I am not with them.' And that's especially true now in terms of how I walk out my own faith." - Harris Faulkner “I believe God loves all of us.” - Harris Faulkner “I leaned back into God and He leaned into me and I was able to go forward. And I prayed more. And things got better. But it was in His timing, not mine.” - Harris Faulkner “My mom told me growing up, ‘Give all of your worries and sorrows in life to God. And don't forget to pray when things are going well, too.' When I remembered that my mom had said that when I was praying less and crying more in my loss, what it reminded me of is that there will be days that will go well again. That this too shall pass. Loving our parents and losing our parents will never pass. But that point of anger with the Lord will. And we must work on that.” - Harris Faulkner “What I've tried to do is utilize the platform that God has given me to lift up others.” - Harris Faulkner “When the storms of life come, you know God's listening because you talk to Him every day, and He hears you.” - Harris Faulkner “It takes a real deep understanding of your relationship with God to know how to pray for someone else.” - Harris Faulkner “I don't know what happens and has happened to people. I don't know people's stories. I don't know what they believe. I don't know what they've been through. I don't know who they've hurt or who has hurt them. So I like to go in with a blank slate.” - Omar Benson Miller “And the challenge is laid out that you are going to have a hard time doing the right thing, because that's what this world is. That's what this life is. So the closer you draw near to the Spirit of God, the closer, the better, and easier that will become.” - Omar Benson Miller “I think that being a person is hard, being a human is hard. This is why it's so important to have kindness and so imperative to try to make allowances for other people, because at some point you're going to need allowances yourself as well.” - Omar Benson Miller _______________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel!
