On the TENTH episode of the HARDER SHAFT podcast we discuss KNOWING YOUR BODY with co host GRANT SHEPHERD.Male body shame isn't talked about often enough. And there's a perfectly good reason for that, which is that men don't like to talk about their emotions. Most dudes would rather be bitten by piranhas than spontaneously monologue about their tender feelings. Men are socialized not to show weakness, as we all know. This isn't entirely a bad thing — there's a lot to be said for stoicism. But being in control of your feelings doesn't mean you don't have them. And it's good to acknowledge some of the painful, weird parts of being a dude, like the fact that basically everyone feels like their body is insufficient. Most people are familiar with the five senses (touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste), but not everyone knows that we have an additional sense called interoception. This is the sense of our body's internal state. It helps us feel and interpret internal signals that regulate vital functions in our body, like hunger, thirst, body temperature and heart rate.Although we don't take much notice of it, it's an extremely important sense as it ensures that every system in the body is working optimally. It does this by alerting us to when our body may be out of balance – such as making us reach for a drink when we feel thirsty or telling us to take our jumper off when we're feeling too hot.Interoception is also important for our mental health. This is because it contributes to many psychological processes - including decision making, social ability and emotional wellbeing. Disrupted interoception is even reported in many mental health conditions – including depression, anxiety and eating disorders. It may also explain why many mental health conditions share similar symptoms – such as disturbed sleep or fatigue.Grant Shepherd:Meditation and Conscious Sexuality Teacherwww.consciouspathways.netnewconsciouspathways@gmail.com----------------------------------------------------------------------------------JOE BUSUTTILMENS COACH/ COUNSELLORthesecretmensbusiness@gmail.comwww.equator-hypnotherapymelbourne.comHARDER SHAFT WEBSITE-https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.net/podcast.html#INSTAGRAM:@the_shaft_experienceFACEBOOK:THE SHAFT EXPERIENCE-MENS SEXUAL HEALTHwww.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness0
Its our FINAL EPISODE - On this weeks interview on the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to TAYLOR ROARK about ARCHETYPES.Taylor Roark is committed to transformational change in the world by helping people bring their heart's true expressions into the world through individuality and connectivity.Taylor has worked with intuition for more than 15 years — training with Maryann Madden, founder and director of The Inner Energy Centre in Brisbane, Australia. He has also been accredited to Level 4 Mastery through Natural Success Academy, founded and run by international best-selling author William Whitecloud.Prior to founding Galliant Trainings, Taylor worked as a commercial lawyer and consultant for nearly 20 years providing legal, commercial and strategic advice for corporate transactions and renewable energy projects around the world.Taylor is an avid traveller, a keen cyclist, an amateur photographer, a weekend DJ and a Taoist at heart. He chooses to live life as a mythical adventure.Archetypes are universal, inborn models of people, behaviors, or personalities that play a role in influencing human behavior. They were introduced by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, who suggested that these archetypes were archaic forms of innate human knowledge passed down from our ancestors. In Jungian psychology, the archetypes represent universal patterns and images that are part of the collective unconscious. Jung believed that we inherit these archetypes much in the way we inherit instinctive patterns of behavior.TAYLOR TOARK :https://www.galliant.lifewww.facebook.com › Galliant TrainingsLinkedIn Taylor Roark - Founder - Galliant Trainings | https://uk.linkedin.com › taylor-roark-a852169Galliant Trainings (@thetaylorroark) https://www.instagram.com › thetaylorroark----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/secretmensbusiness01Instagram:secretmensbusiness_coaching @EQUATOR THERAPIES - Mental Health Support @Secret MENS Business - SMB TV THANK YOU FOR LISTENING
On this weeks interview on the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to SCOTT OHLGREN about Botanical Medicine for Mental Health.Scott Ohlgren is the owner and formulator of Synaptic Scientific. His had a long interest in natural foods as medicine going back to the mid-70s, and a particular love of cognitive and longevity herbal formulas. He graduated from a natural foods school in the '80s, and wrote three books on the diet-disease/diet-health connection that sold 80,000 hard copies in print. In 2007, he started what was arguably the world's first non-caffeinated think drink company, and our Brain Toniq beverage was the first nootropic ever to be sold in Whole Foods. By 2012, over 1,400 health food stores across North America, Europe and Russia were carrying Brain Toniq with over 2.5 million units a year. The impetus behind Synaptic Scientific is to take all of the best superfoods that Scott has been using himself for decades, and to create a small set of extremely potent, best-in-their-class formulas that have a noticeable, palpable effect on health, and to find a way to price them better than anything else in the marketplace. His decades-long mission carries through in Synaptic Scientific, and that is to expose more and more people to the power and intelligence of using herbal plants as their main medicine cabinet.Brain chemicals—serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, and more—influence mood, mental health, and sound reasoning. Chemical imbalances of these can easily be caused by stress, bad dietary choices and the use of chemical stimulants.SCOTT OLGREN:scott@synapticscientific.comwww.synapticscientific.com----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/secretmensbusiness01Instagram:secretmensbusiness_coaching @EQUATOR THERAPIES - Mental Health Support @Secret MENS Business - SMB TV
On this weeks interview on the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to children's book author Josh Langley about TEACHING THE NEXT GENERATION OF BOYS.Through the act of storytelling and being listened to, we can connect to our past, others, and ourselves. Passing on our legacy through our stories is not only a way to teach our values, it is also the essence of passing on a sense of self worth and identity to the next generation of men. We want our children to be happy, reach their potential, and live fulfilling lives. Increasingly, and especially in today's awareness of inequality, we also aspire for them to be part of a fair and equal society.Josh Langley was told he would amount to nothing in life, having failed high school (twice) and being unemployed for several years, but that didn't stop Josh from becoming a multi award-winning radio copywriter and award-winning children's author. Josh's debut children's book, Being You is Enough changed the trajectory of his life. Written as a love letter to his 8-year-old self, it's message of self-acceptance and love resonated with kids and parents around the world. He went on to publish 9 books and in 2018 won the Australian Book Industry Awards Small Publishers' Children's Book of Year, for his second children's book It's Ok to Feel the Way You Do (Big Sky Publishing 2017).Now his ground-breaking children's books, programs and school talks on self-acceptance, resilience, understanding emotions and kindness, are helping thousands of kids make friends with themselves. Josh lives on 7 and a half acres in the Southwest of Western Australia with his husband and his favourite food is tortellini. Josh is the ambassador for the Children's Tumour Foundation and Camp Quality and was voted a Westfield Local Hero for the work he does with CTF. In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we talk about Being a Humble man with global mens coach Dave Gold..A humble person is more socially-oriented than self-centered. Being humble means you not only evaluate yourself with honesty, but also always seek honest feedback from people who matter. By getting other people's reviews, humble people ensure that they are not misguided about their own abilities. A humble person is not proud and does not believe that they are better than other people. He gave a great performance, but he was very humble. Synonyms: modest, meek, unassuming, unpretentious More Synonyms of humble.Humility attracts others and opportunities. So the less you boast and focus on yourself, the more others want to be with you and work with you. The concept that opposites attract applies to the character trait of humility.Humble people are willing to see themselves accurately and appreciate feedback. Errors and mistakes provide feedback on one's own actions. So humble people see value in errors and the information that they provide for their own learning. This gives them an edge over others.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/secretmensbusiness01Instagram:secretmensbusiness_coaching @EQUATOR THERAPIES - Mental Health Support @Secret MENS Business - SMB TV
In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we talk about Emotional Intelligence with renowned coach Daniel Tolson.Emotional intelligence (otherwise known as emotional quotient or EQ) is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathise with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict. As a child, Daniel Tolson had Linear sequential learning disability. He was a slow learner. He had a curved spine. His hips were out of alignment. He couldn't run. His knees would collapse when he was running. This is his story.....This physical defect created pressure in my head, I was losing my vision. I couldn't think properly. I was in so much pain physically. In the end, my body collapsed under this tremendous stress, I developed chronic fatigue syndrome and contracted Epstein Barr virus and I had to drop out of school. When I recovered my uncle took me under his wing and showed me the blueprint of how to become the top 10% in real estate. I took that blueprint, overcompensated with actions, became the top 1% performer, and bought my first home at the age of 19. But I dreamt of becoming an Australian champion wakeboarder. So, I gave up the real estate career to pursue my dream. I had a lot of challenges. To overcome the fear and achieve my goal, I spent a lot of time and energy on personal development, learning how to systematically and methodically break barriers to achieve goals. Eventually, I became the Australian Wakeboarder Champion, not once, but three times. That experience of creating my breakthrough and sustaining it set me up for a series of career highs, such as co-leading 17000 cabin crews, launching my own business, and building a global business that impacts more than 15,000 business people 100X their life and income. In 2010, at the peak of my career, my wife was involved in an aircraft accident. It left her with some disabilities requiring multiple surgeries over the next 2.5 years. Eventually, she lost her job and was forced to leave the country. I left the job to join her back home to take care of her. But 10 months and 500 job applications later, I was jobless. We were living with my grandmother, depending on Australian social security payments. It was the lowest point of my life. I was desperate. And I knew if I want to be a man who provides for my family, things must change. I pulled myself together, used every tool and technology I have in my toolbox, got clarity on life, and launched my coaching business from my grandmother's spare bedroom. I wish I could say life was happy ever after. But no, success never comes on the first attempt. Richard Branson launched 400 companies before founding Virgin galactic. Steven Spielberg was rejected by Film School 3 times. I was betrayed by a business partner. I had to move countries several times. I was broke three times in 3 different countries and had to start all over again.Let's talk about the work you do. What do you specialise in and why should someone work with you over the competition? You can start by learning to identify the emotions you are feeling as well as understanding them. If you are able to name the emotion you are feeling, you have a better chance of understanding what you are feeling. You can also learn to better regulate your emotions just by stopping and thinking before you act and judge. These skills will help you martial inner resolve and stick to what really matters in life.DANIEL TOLSON:www.danieltolson.comInstagram:Daniel Tolson (@danieltolson) YOUTUBE :www.youtube.com › Daniel TolsonLinkedIn:www.linkedin.com › today › author › danieltolsonFacebookwww.facebook.com ›Daniel Tolson › Business Consultant----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/secretmensbusiness01Instagram:secretmensbusiness_coaching @EQUATOR THERAPIES - Mental Health Support @Secret MENS Business - SMB TV

In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we talk Paul Martino about the Lost Boys generation.Paul Marino is a professional who has achieved success through little more than hard work, perseverance, and getting some good advice along the way. His path to success was far from a smooth ride, and he learned some painful but essential lessons. He would like to share some of these lessons as well a few mistakes he made through the telling of humorous, sometimes tragic, but always honest stories. The topics covered in this book include several universal rites of passage such as struggling, failure, finding purpose, and generating fulfilment. Each chapter in this book is succinct and reads like a combat manual for mindful living. Ideal for any young professional or new college graduate, the advice contained in this book is timeless, encouraging, and applicable to life. Sometimes sarcastic and sometimes serious, the authors never stray from the central theme; don't take yourself too seriously.PAUL MARTINO -Letters to our Younger Self.https://www.amazon.com/Letters-Our-Younger-Selves-Mindful---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesDeezerGoogle ManagerAmazon Music & other Podcast platformsPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smbJoe Busuttil-Equator Therapies:www.equator-hypnotherapymelbourne.comMental Health Support YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/c/MentalHealthSupportJoeBusuttilFacebook - Mental Health Support :https://www.facebook.com/equatortherapiesFacebook - the Eudaimonia connection podcasthttps://www.facebook.com/theeudaimoniaconnectionpodcastthe Eudaimonia Connection podcast website -https://eudiamoniaconnection.podomatic.netLinkedin-https://www.linkedin.com/in/joebusuttil/
In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we talk to Sex Coach Sarrah Rose about Sexual Power.Sarrah Rose is a Certified Sex Coach specialise Men's Sexuality and Tantra. For a very long time, I was sexually repressed, and it took years before I became comfortable and confident with my sexuality. A lot of the thoughts that I had about sex were negative.Sex wasn't fun, pleasurable or exciting but instead, it was something that I just did because I was supposed to do. I settled for a lot of really bad sexual experiences.I faked orgasms and made guys feel better than they really were, which completely sucked and I got nothing out of it.It wasn't just me…my girlfriends said the same thing…we complained about it but accepted that it was reality.Like many others, I had partners that were no good in bed, negative conditioning from the way that society and religion view sexuality and trauma that had numbed me. It took me a very long time to become confident sexually.I decided that I wanted to learn more and become an expert in Tantra, so I became certified as a coach.I realised that the conventional way of having sex could no longer be accepted as the norm. After I became certified, I began teaching women and they also had profound results but they kept begging me to teach men. They wanted men to be this kind of lover and to be able to satisfy them in this way.I looked at what was going on in society.Based on my own experiences with men and what other women were reporting, many guys had lost their way with women.Because of the atrocious actions of some men in previous generations and also some men in current times, all guys were and are paying a price. And women are paying the price with them.Feminism, #MeToo and Equality have done a much needed job in culture. And, that's why I created Man on Fire.SARRAH ROSE:https://tantricactivation.comINSTAGRAM:Sarrah Rose (@tantricactivation) LinkedIn:https://www.linkedin.com › sarrah-rose-317882225Twitter:Sarrah Rose (@IAmSarrahRose) Twitterhttps://twitter.com › iamsarrahrose---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesDeezerGoogle ManagerAmazon Music & other Podcast platforms available Podomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smbJoe Busuttil-Equator Therapies:www.equator-hypnotherapymelbourne.comMental Health Support YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/c/MentalHealthSupportJoeBusuttilFacebook - Mental Health Support :https://www.facebook.com/equatortherapiesFacebook - the Eudaimonia connection podcasthttps://www.facebook.com/theeudaimoniaconnectionpodcastthe Eudaimonia Connection podcast website -https://eudiamoniaconnection.podomatic.netLinkedin-https://www.linkedin.com/in/joebusuttil/
In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we talk to coach, Chris Polourde about the importance of Emotional Tolerance,Being with your feelings involves accurately recognising your emotional state. Often, many mislabel their feelings and therefore manage them incorrectly. Thinking back to your upbringing could offer insight into why you respond to certain situations in certain ways today. For example, if crying was not tolerated in your household, this could be why you suppress emotions attached to sadness. Further, maybe you were told to “suck it up,” which is why you suppress or deny certain feelings today. How you're feeling might not coincide with what you're expressing. For example, you might say that you're stressed out rather than angry, or tired rather than sad. It is also essential to recognize the perception you may have developed about certain feelings. Give yourself permission to experience a full range of emotions. Experiencing feelings is different than expressing them.If there is one thing I've learned in my 20+ years of coaching, it's that the journey to your most authentic, fulfilled, and happy self begins from the inside out. The process of falling in love with the journey of self discovery means embracing your unique story so that you have clarity on where you have been and where you are meant to be. Chris Polourde is a coach, businessman, father, and husband. He has worked with top athletes and well-known companies, celebrities, moms/dads, and even military special ops. As a Former Master Trainer and Presenter, Ihe has created and presented content both nationally and internationally, on the mental and physical aspects of training for peak performance in all areas of life. In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we talk to healing coach, Adam Stanecki about entering the heart to heal. We live in a world where the pain and suffering we see around us is almost more than we can bear. Regularly, we witness people hurting each other and themselves. Trusting others can become difficult because we have been betrayed, abused, used and abandoned. We have all been lied to and we have all been left behind. Every one of us has been, in some way, hurt by someone else. Some of us have been hurt so deeply that our healing will last forever. Because we have been hurt by others and because we have witnessed the pain that some individuals are capable of inflicting on other human beings —the apathy and disregard for life that exists, we close our hearts. Opening and balancing your heart chakra allows past grievances to be released and allows you to open yourself up to love, forgiveness, kindness and compassion. When the Heart Chakra is out of balance, or closed, people tend to feel anger, grief, or hatred. You feel light, free, expansive and alive. ... Living from your heart space means listening to your feelings and understanding what they are telling you. It feels just right and aligned to who you are. It feels authentic. The spiritual heart is considered by many to be the seat of human emotion and psychic energy. We as humans, possess the power to heal and the power to destroy. The spiritual heart is the main conduit of this immense power. The invisible frequency that we emit from our hearts can have a direct and indirect effect on the world around us. The space in which this loving frequency can flow is regulated by our ability and willingness to open our hearts completely. When we open our hearts wide and hold that space, we introduce healing to the world. When we close our hearts, we barricade that space, and employ the degradation of healing vibrations. Our hearts are powerful beyond measure. Our emotions alter the world around us. When we hold the space in our hearts open for others, life can be beautiful and love bountiful. Adam Stanecki has investigated over 25 years learning how to live the best life possible. He has done a whole lot of work on himself , and helped thousands of people on their journeys too.I now hold space and provide guidance as a Men's Coach so that I can help men be all that they can be and in turn be of great service to the world. how to live the best life possible. I've done a whole lot of work on myself, and I've helped thousands of people on their journeys too.ADAM STANECKI:https://adamstanecki.com.auFACEBOOK:https://www.facebook.com/groups/wholeheartedmen---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesDeezerGoogle ManagerAmazon Music & other Podcast platformsPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smbJoe Busuttil-Equator Therapies:www.equator-hypnotherapymelbourne.comMental Health Support YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/c/MentalHealthSupportJoeBusuttilFacebook - Mental Health Support :https://www.facebook.com/equatortherapiesFacebook - the Eudaimonia connection podcasthttps://www.facebook.com/theeudaimoniaconnectionpodcastthe Eudaimonia Connection podcast website -https://eudiamoniaconnection.podomatic.netLinkedin-https://www.linkedin.com/in/joebusuttil/

In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we talk to our regular guest Greg Riley about the New Order of Transformation. With New Order transformation comes healing and wholeness. It's as if COVID has been waiting in the wings all along, until we made room for real change. The spiritual practice of transformation holds within its wide embrace the personal renewals that come with a spiritual awakening, a conversion, a mystical epiphany, or an enlightenment. It covers the deepening that takes place when we get in touch with our Higher Self or Spirit.Transformation usually involves the shedding of old ways, especially those that have become burdens. This practice proclaims that no matter who you are, no matter what has already happened to you, no matter what you have done, it is still possible to be and do something new.Transformation implies a marked change in your life, but you can practice it by making simple changes. Start by doing something different — walk to work by a new route, answer the telephone with your other than usual hand. Break a habit, any habit. Signal Spirit that you are willing to accept change in your life and to be an agent of change in the world.GREG RILEY:https://www.gregriley.com.auLinkedIn: Director Greg Riley Pty Ltd https://au.linkedin.com › greg-riley-518b2417Instagram:Greg Riley (@gregriley5dimensions) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesDeezerGoogle ManagerAmazon Music & other Podcast platformsPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smbJoe Busuttil-Equator Therapies:www.equator-hypnotherapymelbourne.comMental Health Support YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/c/MentalHealthSupportJoeBusuttilFacebook - Mental Health Support :https://www.facebook.com/equatortherapiesFacebook - the Eudaimonia connection podcasthttps://www.facebook.com/theeudaimoniaconnectionpodcastthe Eudaimonia Connection podcast website -https://eudiamoniaconnection.podomatic.netLinkedin-https://www.linkedin.com/in/joebusuttil/
In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we talk to Luke Fenwick about the power of leaving a legacy. An emotional legacy is something that is conceptualised and role modeled during a lifetime. As one starts to age, this legacy can hold greater meaning when time seems to race by. It has to do with who we are as people, what we have to offer, what things we hold dear, and what we want others know about us.Luke decided it was time to change the story which was supposed to be “the rest of my life”. He stepped away from his corporate role to reevaluate what was important and create beliefs and habits that would carry him forward in life and to his legacy. Stepping away allowed him the opportunity to work towards his vision of being the best father, husband and person he could be. It allowed him time to rewire the actions he took each and every day. Although a period of challenge, he gained clarity that he needed to have purpose in his work and life, instead of focusing on a pay check or lifestyle. He realised that he had to alter his actions to do what he so desperately wanted to do, those actions move him towards his mission, which is to help as many people do the things they want to do in order to live their best life and create a legacy of fulfilment. To learn more about Luke Fenwick and his coaching philosophy and services, head to his website - www.lukefenwick.com.Sign up to his "That's BS!" newsletter which is all about Behaviours and Strategies that address unhelpful habits or actions.Instagram -@luke.fenwick@lukefenwickcoach Facebook -Luke Fenwick - Life Impact Coach & Behaviour Strategist LinkedIn -@ Luke Fenwick ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesDeezerGoogle ManagerAmazon Music & other Podcast platformsPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smbJoe Busuttil-Equator Therapies:www.equator-hypnotherapymelbourne.comMental Health Support YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/c/MentalHealthSupportJoeBusuttilFacebook - Mental Health Support :https://www.facebook.com/equatortherapiesFacebook - the Eudaimonia connection podcasthttps://www.facebook.com/theeudaimoniaconnectionpodcastthe Eudaimonia Connection podcast website -https://eudiamoniaconnection.podomatic.netLinkedin-https://www.linkedin.com/in/joebusuttil/

In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we talk to Fletcher Ellingson and how FEAR can come bearing gifts. Maybe you have been there or had it even worse. Perhaps you can imagine the stress and panic a person feels when they find themselves in a situation where they have debt and no income. That was me. My business had fallen apart and we were stuck with the debt and no immediate way to generate income. Our situation was dire enough that we qualified for food stamps. It was a low time in my life and yet now, I am grateful it happened. That desperation and despair sparked something in me. I had to begin considering other options and do so quickly! I had to get into massive action and open my mind to the advice of others. Ultimately I had to change my thinking…again. We had taken a huge risk in pursuing our dream of starting a family business. We believed we could do it and we gave it everything we had. But what we didn't have was the needed knowledge about what it took to run a business. So like the majority of small businesses, we were not able to keep it going and closed up shop after a few years.Fletcher Ellingson is a personal development coach, speaker, and creator of The Practice of Feeling Good. He helps others break free from financial struggle, overwhelm, and persistent worry so they can spend more time doing what they love, contribute to their families, and make an impact in their communities.Fletcher has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs, and successful professionals embrace the principles of The Practice of Feeling Good in Business and life. As a result they've been able to radically shift their thinking in order to produce outcomes in their health, wealth and relationships which were not previously possible. Using a combination of science, psychology and inquiry into being his clients learn to create, attract, and navigate life with greater ease and joy.Fletcher has studied with some of the best minds in the personal development industry. In addition to over 25 years of speaking for audiences across the United States he and his wife, Dr. Amy Ellingson host a weekly television show during which they address topics of health, wealth and relationships.People get from where they are to where they want to be. In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast I discuss "Cancel Culture". Within the turbulent past few years, the idea that a person can be “cancelled” — in other words, culturally blocked from having a prominent public platform or career — has become a polarizing topic of debate. The rise of “cancel culture” and the idea of cancelling someone coincides with a familiar pattern: A celebrity or other public figure does or says something offensive. A public backlash, often fuelled by politically progressive social media, ensues. It's common to compare cancel culture to “call-out culture” — but its real roots may lie in the civil rights movementAs cancel culture caught on, many members of the public, as well as the media, have frequently conflated it with other adjacent trends — especially “call-out culture.” Cancel culture can be seen as an extension of call-out culture: the natural escalation from pointing out a problem to calling for the head of the person who caused it.Cancel culture and call-out culture are often confused not only with each other, but also with broader public shaming trends, as part of a collectivised narrative that all of these things are examples of trolling and harassment. The media has sometimes referred to this collectivised narrative as “outrage culture.”Joe BusuttilEquator Therapieswww.equator-hypnotherapymelbourne.com----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicDeezerPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smb
In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to CHRIS DELANEY about Unconscious Bias in our current word.. He shares his own experience with bias and he took these moment and created a way to help others interviews, life situations and connection.Unconscious biases are social stereotypes about certain groups of people that individuals form outside their own conscious awareness. Everyone holds unconscious beliefs about various social and identity groups, and these biases stem from one's tendency to organise social worlds by categorising. This bias occurs when someone unconsciously associates certain stereotypes with different genders. ... An example of this bias during hiring is if the hiring panel favors male candidates over female candidates even though they have similar skills and job experience. Another well-known example is the gender pay gap.Why is it important to think about Unconscious Bias? Unconscious bias can affect workplaces and organisations. It can introduce unintentional discrimination and result in poor decision-making. Unconscious Bias can be a huge setback in creating a truly diverse and inclusive workplaceChris Delaney is a qualified NLP Life Coach, Hypnotherapist and Careers Advisor. In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to MICHAEL VEE about the importance of connecting with our internal desire to change. He discusses his failures and how he turned them into success.A self-described Shaved Gorilla, Michael Vee is an artist, an author, a filmmaker, a dog lover and hell of a nice guy.Just ask anyone.Armed with a quick wit, a slightly sardonic sense of humor, and a unique perspective, Michael ( Vee to his friends ) is the architect of The Radical Humanist. He believes the key to recovery lies in helping others. It's been instrumental in his own healing and what continues to propel him forward.”My only goal is to be a little better today than I was yesterday. And tomorrow, be a little better than I am today.”That being said, he's not above going off half-cocked ( sometimes full-cocked )and making a complete fool of himself if the situation warrants it.Humor is curative and there are enough embarrassing photos of Vee on the internet to justify that statement. He lives his life full tilt super boogie and doesn't understand why anyone would settle for any less. Hunter S. Thompson said it best, “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”In his free time, he enjoys hiking, camping, grilling, riding motorcycles, using Oxford commas, and proving the existence of Bigfoot.Never one to back down from a challenge or not beat a dead horse, Vee decided that the world needed just one more podcast. So here we are.THE RADICAL HUMANIST - Michael Vee -https://www.theradicalhumanist.net/------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicPodomatic The Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smb
In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to BEN WINTER about mens expecations, the pressure to become a better man, and what the world now expects from men.Ben certainly hasn't been idle in life. A couple of years out of college and he started doing things and going places he never would have expected. From traveling to personal growth to marriage and child to divorce and parenthood to entrepreneurialism and inspiring others. Ben has flown an airplane on his own and has been scuba diving in the Galapagos. He has seen the animals of Tanzania and has traveled all over Europe with a 6-month-old child in tow. He has performed improv for over a decade, acted in several plays, and even a movie. He has owned several businesses. His biggest passion is exploring the mind. In all of his personal growth work, the one constant was that it all stems from the mind. Between personal growth and improv, he found this weird realm called expectations. And while most people would shy away from such a thing, he decided to tackle it head-on. Along his journey, he decided that “the only reason anyone gets upset is because an expectation hasn't been met.” And begin teaching that in his Success Improv business. From there, he noticed that there has to be a way to use that upset feeling to fix the situation. And he created the amazing “How to stop being upset” flow chart. From there it was a simple step of taking everything that he has explored on the subject and put it in a book called, “What to Expect when Having Expectations.”BEN WINTER:https://havingexpectations.com------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smb
In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to CHARLIE RANDELL about how powerful the mind is, that it has the ability to rewire itself.WHAT DOES NQPC STAND FOR - Not Quite Politically Correct NQPC blogs want to make a difference in the community by helping companies understand what is needed for disabled access, improving their awareness and encouraging them to include more information on their websites for customers requiring disabled access. WHO IS BEHIND NQPC?I'm Charlie Randell - a young wheelchair user with Cerebral Palsy. I work in digital marketing, whilst running a YouTube channel which focuses on disabled lifestyle and fitness. My girlfriend - Gina Twelftree helps meto run and promote my YouTube channel, whilst also running this blog. Gina writes the blogs from our ideas and experiences. She is basically my glamorous assistant.WHY DID YOU START NQPC?I made the decision to start my own YouTube channel in 2017,I had wanted to for sometime but had been quite nervousof how successful or - more accurately - how unsuccessfulI would be. After encouragement from my friends I startedmaking regular fitness, diet and lifestyle vlogs, which haveslowly built up an audience. I met Gina in August 2017 and, both being ambitious, we came up with idea to include morevideos on what it's like to be a disabled person. We sooncame up with the idea of making blogs with disabled accessreviews and top tips to further expand our platform andaudience, in the hope we could start to make a changein the disabled community. So that's why we're here - wewant to try and make a difference in the community byhelping companies understand what is needed for disabledaccess, improving their awareness and encouraging them toinclude more information on their websites forcustomers requiring disabled access.CHARLIE RANDELL:Email- nqpcfitness@gmail.com Website: www.nqpc.co.uk------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smb

We celebrate our 150th Episode of the SECRET MENS BUSINESS podcast. In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to Shawn Jacobson about how young woman deal with men, sexual freedom, and double standards.Shawn is the host of the podcast TOUGH TITTIES - This show is as raw as it gets. She will give it to you straight when it comes to sex, dating, relationships, friendships, mental health and all the good shit in between.Double standards theory predicts that people use different standards for making inferences about others' abilities based on social status. Social identity processes, however, imply that people evaluate in-group members more positively than out-group members. The belief that women and men are held to different standards of sexual conduct is pervasive in contemporary American society. According to the sexual double standard, boys and men are rewarded and praised for heterosexual sexual contacts, whereas girls and women are derogated and stigmatized for similar behaviors.Tough Titties (podcast) - Shawn Jacobson | https://www.listennotes.com › podcasts › tough-titties-s...Website:www.toughtitties.coTough Titties - Home | Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com › ... › Podcast › Tough Titties------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smb

In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to Dean Beck, who discusses self acceptance amongst men, both gay and straight. We explore how he learned to live his true life and not judge what other do - believing that everyone should be allowed to be who they want to be. Dean Beck is a commentator, broadcaster, journalist and producer with LGBTI radio station JOY 94.9 FM. He is also an ENUF Ambassador and HIV advocate.Though related, self-acceptance is not the same as self-esteem. Whereas self-esteem refers specifically to how valuable, or worthwhile, we see ourselves, self-acceptance alludes to a far more global affirmation of self. When we're self-accepting, we're able to embrace all facets of ourselves—not just the positive, more "esteem-able" parts. As such, self-acceptance is unconditional, free of any qualification. We can recognize our weaknesses or limitations, but this awareness in no way interferes with our ability to fully accept ourselves. We all judge and measure each other by our own standards. Accepting this goes a long ways in understanding others.Have you ever wondered whether you're too quick to judge others? Do you often wonder how it might be affecting your life? No one likes feeling judged; it undermines our confidence, making us see the worst in ourselves and leaving us wondering whether we're not good enough. However, while it's easy to say “don't judge others,” it's far harder to put this advice into practice for yourself.Of course, it's impossible to refrain from making all judgments. However, if you tend to take a negative, simplistic view of other people then it's well worth thinking about how to change this default attitude. In this guide, we'll take an in-depth look at why we judge others and explore how to stop judging people. Whether you're generally quick to judge, are wondering why judging is wrong or know that being judgmental is damaging your relationships, we'll help you gain a deeper understanding and suggest ways to develop positive new habits.DEAN BECK:Twitter:Dean Beck (@DeanBeckOnAir) https://twitter.com/DeanBeckOnAirDean Beck - Broadcaster / Executive Producer / Senior ..https://au.linkedin.com › dean-beck-05088228Podcast:Inside HIV on Apple Podcasts:https://podcasts.apple.com › podcast › inside-his------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smb

In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to Terry Tucker about always finding motivation in his life to live the best life possible. He talks about how being diagnosed with cancer and having his foot amputated allowed him dig deep to stay within a motivated place. In many ways, I believe I am just like any of the billions of people existing on this planet. I have reinvented myself frequently over my professional career. After I graduated from The Citadel, I was employed in the Marketing Department at the corporate headquarters of Wendy's International, in Dublin, Ohio. From there I switched to hospital administration for Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. After getting married, I became the Customer Service Manager for an academic publishing company in Santa Barbara, California. Subsequently, I was a police officer in Cincinnati, Ohio. Following a family move to Texas, I started my own consulting business and coached high school basketball in Houston. Each time I took on a new position, I had to develop new skills and faced different challenges. There was always a significant learning curve with each new job. But my greatest challenge began in early 2012 when I was diagnosed with a rare form of melanoma that presented on the bottom of my foot. By the time the cancer was detected, it had metastasized to a lymph node in my groin. I was treated at the world-renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center. I had two surgeries to remove the cancer, and after I healed, I was put on a weekly injection of Interferon to help keep the disease from returning. The Interferon gave me severe flu-like symptoms for two - three days every week after each injection. I lost fifty pounds during my therapy, was constantly nauseous, fatigued and chilled, my ability to taste food significantly diminished, and my body continually ached. This misery went on for over 1,660 days! One thing I learned during all my pain and suffering is that you have two choices. You can either succumb to the debilitating discomfort and misery, or you can learn to embrace it and use it to make you a stronger and better human being. I chose the latter. 4 Truths are:1. Control your mind or it will control you.2. Embrace the pain and suffering we all experience in life and use it to make you a stronger and more determined individual.3. What you leave behind is what you weave in the hearts of other people.4. As long as you don't quit - you can never be defeated. My 4 Truths, along with my 3 Fs (faith, family, and friends) are what I use to make decisions in my life. In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to Greg Riley about how masculinity is now being addressed in 2021, how old tribal hierarchy can help change the way men behave, and the role of parents in teaching their sons to live their lives. A man's primary role is to provide for, protect, and be in relationship with his family. That role requires a man to develop character. But you may have been involved with men who did not live up to their primary roles, and consequently your son may not have had an ideal role model. So here's my list (compiled with help from single moms) detailing many of the qualities that make a good man. In still these qualities in your boy to help him become a good man.Instead of scolding our sons about “toxic masculinity,” let's invite them to try this little thought experiment: Ask yourself, “What does it mean to be a good man?” Imagine waking up in the morning and looking in the mirror and saying to yourself, “You are a good man.” Imagine your funeral. You'll want it said of you, “He was a good man.”Greg Riley is a certified Gottman relationship coach, clinical hypnotherapist, Australia's “The One” most gifted psychic and co-founder of 5dimensions. A five pillar philosophy that helps you to reawaken the fire in your life and relationships. Physically, emotionally, spiritually, socially and financially. With a no BS approach, Greg is your bridge between spirit and science, transcending you into the wholeness that fuels the life + love you desire and a legacy you can say “Heck Yeh!” too.GREG RILEY:https://www.gregriley.com.au------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Secret MENS Business website:https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.netThe Secret MENS Business podcast:SpotifyiTunesGoogle ManagerAmazon MusicPodomatic -https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.comThe Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only):https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page :https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptanceInstagram:secretmensbusiness_smb

In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to Debbie Neat about her life as a member of Young Talent Time. YTT has celebrated its 50th anniversary. Debbie takes us down memory lane discussing how a 12 years old experienced tv fame. Young Talent Time ran on Channel 10 (then known as Channel O), from 1971 til 1988. The show featured a weekly junior talent quest and the Young Talent Team who regularly performed popular classics along with the top hit songs of the day. The program was the creation of host Johnny Young and launched the careers of a number of Australian performers including Tina Arena and Danni Minogue. The show took over from “Brian And The Juniors” a similar show hosted by Brian Naylor which ended in 1970 when Naylor was promoted to the role of chief newsreader for HSV7. Over 18 years, the show had 40 team members, some as a direct result of the weekly talent quest. Some Young Talent Timers disappeared into oblivion (many through choice) after their stint on the show was up, but many went on to have successful adult careers in show business as either actors or performers. Because it ran for such a long time and featured young performers, Young Talent Time made an indelible mark on the psyche of several generations of Australian children, leading them to believe that if they tried hard enough, they too could be a ‘star’ like the kids they saw on television. One memorable aspect of the show was the regular closing number, where Johnny Young would sing the Beatles song All My Lovin’ (with which he had an Australian hit back in the 1960’s), accompanied by the entire cast, (who swayed to the music) in an almost nursery-rhyme style. John would pause in the song to say goodnight individually to all the team members. He would also spend a special greeting each week to his mother. It's time for Young Talent Time! JOIN JOHNNY YOUNG AS HE GETS THE YOUNG TALENT TEAM BACK TOGETHER FOR THIS VERY SPECIAL 50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION! This is an updated version of the program that aired on the 1st May 2021 - it has been edited to include additional interviews, archival clips and special features. https://www.epicentre.tv/live-events/young-talent-time-50th-anniversary The Secret MENS Business website: https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.net The Secret MENS Business podcast: Spotify iTunes Google Manager Amazon Music Podomatic - https://thesecretmensbusiness.podomatic.com The Secret MENS Business Facebook group (MEN Only): https://www.facebook.com/groups/secretmensbusiness01 Secret MENS Business Podcast Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/projectselfacceptance Instagram: secretmensbusiness_smb

In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to James Parr about how his life got turned upside down after getting cancer in his ankle, and then having to have his foot amputated. His story is more than just inspiring, it demonstrates how ones mind can create adversity if challenged. James Parr was diagnosed in August 2019 with a rare form of bone cancer ‘osteosarcoma’ and after several months of chemotherapy his right leg was amputated below the knee. How does a diagnosis and resulting amputation of his leg affect such a young man? “Well, it didn’t impact on me too much as I kept getting a lot of infections and I just wanted it to be over,” James who underwent chemotherapy for almost six months after his surgery, said. “I was back in the gym 10 days later, challenging myself to see what I was capable of. “I had the artificial leg fitted a month later and didn’t particularly enjoy going into rehabilitation, I just wanted to get on with it. “I experienced some phantom pain early on after the surgery but it rarely happens now, it’s a strange kind of pain.” Today James is disciplined in his training regime, up at 5.30 am six days a week, putting in the hours with swim training, Cross-fit and strengthening, running and cycling to become more competitive in the three disciplines. He also consumes a healthy high protein diet, which includes 1 kg of fruit and vegetables daily. James works in education support at Cobram Primary School while studying to become a teacher. Before this he held a similar role at Cobram Specialist School. In what little spare time he has, he is also establishing demand from several advertisers as a photographic model. While James admits he has a long road ahead as a triathlete, he is prepared to do the hard yards and has the determination to be the best version of himself at whatever he chooses to do. In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to Aaron Little about his experience working on the LGBTQI scene, working at the LGBTQI tabloid the STAR OBSERVER, and his insights regarding the shifting culture. Star Observer has been setting Australia’s LGBTI agenda since 1979, with a long and proud history of independent journalism. They have 200,000 loyal readers who embrace our publications, which include a popular news website and social media channels, as well as their monthly Star Observer publication. From the early days of Mardi Gras, through the AIDS crisis, to the battle for marriage equality, Star Observer has been there providing in-depth and independent journalism about the issues facing the LGBTI community. Our story started in 1979. It was a time when homosexual sex was a criminal act, with people being jailed simply for being gay. Sydney’s gay and lesbian community was reeling from vicious police attacks during the city’s first Mardi Gras protest march. A wave of political momentum was building demanding equality and justice for LGBTI Australians. In this dangerous time for our community, the very first edition of The Star was printed and distributed across Sydney by our founder Michael Glynn. Throughout its history, the Star Observer has taken the form of a weekly Sydney-centric newspaper, sister publication the Melbourne Star, a monthly national magazine, and has included publishing festival guides for LGBTI festivals around Australia as well as a Gay Scene Guide magazine highlighting what’s on in the queer scene in Australia’s major capitals. Alongside this, we have maintained a major national Australian news website with a significant social media audience. Until 2019, the Star Observer operated as a not-for-profit, community-owned organisation, before it was purchased by the newly formed Out Publications, part of the AltMedia publishing umbrella. The Star Observer has gone back to its roots in the tabloid newspaper format for a special issue celebrating the publication’s 40th anniversary, with new issues to be published and distributed in Sydney and online on a monthly basis. We have built an international reputation for fearless reporting, independent from the influence of any politician or corporation. We are the news journal of record for the LGBTI community, and have been since our founding. In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to Brett Kappler about his amazing personal transformation from a chronic drug user, to business owner. Brett opens up about addiction, recovery and self acceptance. This is one of the most open and vulnerable interviews I have completed. Addiction happens when someone compulsively in behaviour such as drug taking, gambling, drinking or gaming. Even when bad side effects kick in and people feel like they’re losing control, people who have addictions usually can't stop doing the thing they’re addicted to without help and support. A drug is any kind of medicine or chemical that changes how your body or brain functions. There are legal drugs (including alcohol), which you can buy over the counter or get from a health professional, and illegal (or ‘street’) drugs. It’s possible to become addicted to both legal and illegal drugs. Addiction is when there’s an uncontrollable urge to consume a drug because of a physical or mental dependence on the chemical in the drug. Usually, this is because the substance has a pleasurable or satisfying effect, or helps to stop bad feelings (in the short term). What are the signs of drug addiction? There are many types of drugs that people can become addicted to, so there are many different signs to be aware of. If you’re concerned that you might be developing an addiction, here are some general signs to look out for. Social and behavioural signs People with a drug addiction may: -avoid people who don’t take drugs -avoid places where it's not possible to take drugs -feel distressed and lonely if they don't take the drug regularly -rely on drugs to cope with emotional problems -be dishonest with friends and family to hide their drug use -have financial problems and debts -sell or steal things to pay for drugs -take dangerous risks, such as driving under the influence of drugs -self-blame and have low self-esteem, especially after trying unsuccessfully to quit -get into legal trouble. Health signs- Drugs and alcohol can cause a range of problems for physical and mental health, even after the acute effects of taking the drug have worn off. These include: -depression -anxiety -having unusual ideas (e.g. paranoia, delusions) -hallucinations -attention problems -memory loss -weight loss -sexual dysfunction (e.g. impotence). What can I do about my drug use? If you take drugs regularly and you have some of the signs listed here, it’s important that you talk to a doctor or a mental health professional (such as a drug counsellor or a psychologist) as soon as you can. Continuing to take drugs might seem like the only way to feel better, but it can lead to some pretty serious consequences, including ongoing mental and physical health issues, or even death. Recognising the problem is the first step in getting help for addiction. No one can force another person to undergo treatment for a problem they don’t believe they have. Talk to a doctor or a health professional Try using ReachOut NextStep which will guide you through a few key questions and help you find the support that's right for you. Don’t go cold turkey It might seem easier to just stop taking drugs and to manage withdrawal on your own, but this is actually the most difficult way to go about it. It can also be physically dangerous, depending on the drug and level of addiction. If you don’t feel comfortable talking to a health professional, start with a trusted friend or family member. Remember that if you do have a drug problem, the first step in overcoming it is to acknowledge it. You'll find plenty of support services that can help you here, and you can filter by type of service and location. In this episode of the Secret MENS Business podcast we speak to Jad Patrick about losing a good friend to suicide. Jad shares the emotions, grief process and the big changes in his life after the experience. When you’re coping with the suicide of a loved one, it’s normal to feel a wide range of emotions, such as: Shock “This can’t be happening.” Right after loss, it can be hard to accept what’s happened. You may feel numb or want to deny the truth. Shock can have a purpose: it protects you from the initial pain of the loss, helping you get through things. Anger “How could they do this to me?” You may feel angry with your loved one, yourself, or medical professionals who couldn’t help. It’s normal to feel angry. Try to talk it though and understand your feelings. Confusion “Why is this happening?” You may not understand why something so tragic has happened, and that’s okay. It's hard, sometimes impossible, to comprehend why someone would choose to take their own life. It may be better to accept that you'll never fully understand, instead of forcing yourself to come up with an answer that makes sense to you. Focus your energy on accepting and coping with your feelings. Guilt “Why didn’t I notice something was wrong?” Try not to criticise yourself about what you did or didn’t do – it’s not your fault. Feeling guilty is completely normal, because we often blame ourselves when things go wrong, but it's not something to carry around with you. Talk to someone you trust about how you feel. Despair “I’m too sad to do anything” Loss from suicide is traumatic; allow yourself time to grieve. If you’re feeling especially down, your reaction is normal. Remember that there isn’t a typical response to loss; grieving is as individual as the people we’ve loved. There are things you can do to make dealing with death easier: Accept your feelings People experience all kinds of emotions after a death, some you might not be able to predict, but they're all valid. It’s okay to feel the things that you do. Take care of yourself and your family Eating well, exercising, and sleeping will help you get through each day and move forward. Taking it one day at a time and focusing on small tasks will make things easier to deal with. What may feel like an impossible situation now, will get better. Reach out and help others deal with this loss Sharing stories can help everyone cope, and helping others will have the benefit of making you feel better as well. Speak to the people in your life who are also grieving, or whom you can trust. Sharing your thoughts and feelings will help you feel less alone, and remind you that there are people out there who support you. Remember and celebrate the life of your loved one Honour your relationship in a way that feels right to you – perhaps you can plant a garden in their memory, donate to their favourite charity, or frame photos of fun times. Try and remember the best moments you shared together.
