After ten and a half years on the cobbles, Yasmeen has finally left the Street for a new life in London, and in this interview, we chat about her fondest memories of the past decade. From Jiggle-It Geoff to her more recent adventures with Stu, we reminisce about our favourite Yasmeen moments and I hear about what's next in store for Shelley. Also available as a video interview here: https://youtu.be/Knx4kR_UaUg
Today's podcast covers what went on in Corrie between the 14th and the 18th October 2024 (Episodes #11,387 - 11,392) It's another extra-long show this week, but not because of another lengthy Michael rant about the scheduling - nope, this time it's because we've got a murder mystery on our hands (and unlike the Lauren one back in the Spring, this time somebody's actually been murdered!). Yep, Joel turned up dead in a sack on Monday's visit to Weatherfield, and there are plenty of characters with the motive and the opportunity to have done him in. Did Mason do it as payback for Joel's treatment of Betsy? Did God-fearing Dee-Dee go Old Testament on his arse? Or maybe it's just what at this point seems to be the most obvious suspect, DC Kit Green. There are still plenty of clues still to be revealed in flashbacks, but we try to piece together all the evidence so far. Joel's not the only character we had to wave bye-bye to this week either, as Stu hangs up his whites and heads of for a new life in Germany - and not even Yasmeen seems that bothered by it! We've also got more drama at the Platts (with no sign of Gail!), a trip to A&E for Sam, and yet another 'the Winter-Browns are poor' story. It wasn't all gold, but on the whole, we thought it was a pretty decent week! Up next on the podcast, we take a look at why Shelley King and Julie Hesmondhalgh are teaming up for a good cause, and finish off the show with some of your thoughts on the early ITVX uploads in The Kabin. Street Talk - 00:24:34 The Kabin - 03:17:40 Feedback - 03:24:22
In our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown between the 3rd and the 7th June 2024 (Episodes #11,281 - 11,286). After last week's reveal that Joel was responsible for Lauren's disappearance, he was in full-on skulky villain mode this week - and of course, we were loving it! But with Dee-Dee accepting his marriage proposal on Wednesday, will she discover the truth about her new fiancé before he gets her up the aisle? Meanwhile, we said bye bye Si on Monday as the third member of the Barlow clan in six months headed off to the Med to start a new life - and Leanne has a VERY unusual way of coping with the grief of losing another another son! Also this week, things are hotting up between Glenda and Michael, Roy continues to distance himself from his friends, and Kevin and Abi discover just how much it would cost to suppress her A.I. videos online - does anyone want to club together and pay the same so that we never have to see that freaky Oli monstrosity again too...? Up next on the podcast it's The Kabin, where we talk about Shelley King's recent autism diagnosis, the fab new Women of Weatherfield photoshoot and a bizarre story about Jimmi Harkishin getting into a spot of bother in a B&Q - but of course, the spoilery nature of Corrie's biggest news story of the week means there's also a meaty Kabin Extra segment at the end of the show too after we've read out some listener feedback! Street Talk - 00:15:29 The Kabin - 02:38:37 Feedback - 02:56:32 Kabin Extra - 03:22:08

Coronation Street actor Shelley King joins James on the Ultimate Road Trip Podcast this week! She's played Yasmeen for almost 10 years, but in 2019 hit the headlines for her character's gradual degradation at the hands of her thoroughly nasty husband, Geoff Metcalfe (played by Ian Bartholomew), throwing the real-life problem of coercive control in relationships into the spotlight. What many of her fans may not know, is that along with acting, one of her other passions is cars. Especially ones from Stuttgart.... The Ultimate Road Trip guests are each asked 5 questions: 1. What's the car - make, model, colour? 2. Why that car? 3. Destination......anywhere. 4. Who's the passenger? 5. Seminal soundtrack. Thanks again for listening, please share, follow or subscribe!

Arizona wine, like other areas of the southwest, goes back to the 1600s and Spanish missions. Today the Grand Canyon State is home to three wine regions with two designated AVAS. The grape varieties cultivated in Arizona range from Spanish to French, encompassing a wide range of styles. Most wineries now lean towards the Mediterranean varieties. On this episode of Big Blend Radio’s 2nd Friday Food Wine & Travel Show with the International Food Wine & Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA), travel/wine writer Cori Solomon gives an overview of Arizona’s wine regions, grape varieties, and wineries. Tomorrow marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale. The day's also become International Day of the Nurse. We speak to nurse and poet Molly Case and to Ruth May, Chief Nursing Officer in England. Childline has new figures about the number of under 11s wanting help because of the coronavirus lockdown. Jane talks to Laverne Antrobus a Child Psychologist at the Tavistock Clinic and to NSPCC campaigns manager, Helen Westerman. Coronation Street is dealing with the issue of coercive control between husband and wife in one of its storylines. We hear from Shelley King who plays Yasmeen who's the victim, as well as Lindsay Williams who's one of the script writers on Corrie. And she's been described as ‘the kind of cook who makes you want to eat vegetarian food even if you're not vegetarian’. Anna Jones shares some fresh ideas about lockdown lunches and the surprising things we can do with a can of tomato soup. Here's one of her recipes: Caper, herb and egg flatbreads / SERVES 2 AS A LIGHT MEAL 200g thick Greek yoghurt 1 unwaxed lemon 2 avocados 2 organic eggs olive oil 2 medium corn or flour tortillas or wraps (about 12 cm) a few sprigs of soft herbs (I use dill and basil, but mint, tarragon, parsley and chives would all work too) 2 tablespoons small capers a few cornichons, roughly chopped 25g freshly grated Parmesan (I used a vegetarian one) First, in a bowl mix the yoghurt with the grated zest and juice of half the lemon, a pinch of sea salt and a good grind of black pepper. Cut the avocados into quarters and remove the stones, then cut each one down to the skin in thin slices. Squeeze over the juice from the remaining lemon half and set aside. Beat the eggs in a little cup with a pinch of salt. It’s best to cook the tortillas one by one. Heat a frying pan big enough to fit your tortilla over a medium heat. Add a tiny splash of olive oil, then add half the egg and let it set into a kind of pancake for 10-15 seconds. Working quickly, place a tortilla on top of the egg; you want the egg still to be a bit runny so that it will attach itself to the tortilla as it sets. When the egg has set, use a spatula to turn the whole thing over, sprinkle over half the herbs, half the capers and cornichons and half the cheese. Cook until the cheese has melted. Repeat this process for the second tortilla. To serve, fold the tortillas in half and top with the yoghurt and slices of the avocado. To make a meal of them, serve with a little lemon-dressed green salad.
On our latest podcast, we break down our thoughts on the excellent episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 27th April and the 1st May (Episodes #10,054 - 10,056). This week, Iain MacLeod finally found the memo that Kate Oates left him when he took over as producer: if you want people talking about Corrie, sometimes you've just got to go dark. For us, this week's episodes, in which we saw the climax of Yasmeen's long-running torment at the hands of evil Geoff, were some of the most adrenaline-inducing we've watched in a good long while, with a level of intensity not seen since the height of the Pat Phelan drama. Hats of to Shelley King, Ian Bartholomew and everyone behind the scenes for putting together some truly terrific telly. Oh yeah, and some stuff happened with Asha, Gary and Ken too. Not a whole lot in the way of news this week, but we cobble together a few headlines into a brief Kabin segment next, and we finish off the podcast with some listener feedback, including some of your immediate reactions to Friday's climactic cliffanger. We're back again, very early for this podcast as this is literally the only time we had available to record something for the next week! Street Talk covers the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK on the 17th and the 20th August. There's tragedy for the Habeebs this week, but can Rana forgive herself for lying to her dad as he shuffles off this mortal coil? She's not the only one bending the truth either, as Ducan's lies continue to cause trouble for Sally, especially when her supposed burner phone is discovered, and Lewis Archer is back on the scene - but can Audrey believe him when he says he's turned over a new leaf? After Street Talk, we're joined for a chat by Charlie de Melo! What's it like being the new guy on set? Could there be a future for Imran and Leanne? Most importantly, why has Imran turned into a massive git this past week? These questions and more our answered in our 40 minute interview! There are a couple of small news stories to cover in The Kabin, including Shelley King's recent appointment as a Hope Foundation UK abassador, then we round off the podcast with a bit of feedback.
