Text us about this show.Kostia is, in a word, special. He's not only a prolific composer and pianist, but one of the most genuine human beings you could ever know. Born and raised in St. Petersburg in the former USSR, Kostia made his way to the United States in 1989 and within a week of arriving he had his first recording deal with Narada Records. Over the years he has been active in the Milwaukee music scene accompanying vocalist Carmen Nickerson and playing keyboards for guitarist Daryl Stuermer (Genesis, Phil Collins). He is a Grammy nominated artist whose compositions are easy to get wrapped up in and a gentleman in every sense of the word. His heart comes out in all the music he brings into being and that is what makes Kostia special."Russian Story," "Song of Evergreen," "Girl From Barcelona," "Winter Ride," "Troika," "First Touch," "There Is So Much Light," and "American Fields" written and performed by Kostia℗ Kostia Efimov. ‘Our Lady of Kazan', a painting of the Virgin and Child, was discovered in the ashes of a fire in the Russian town of Kazan on 8th July, 1579. The icon quickly became associated with miracles after two blind men were said to have their sight restored by standing in front of it. The original was stolen in 1904, but the copies still represent one of Russia's most important pieces of religious art - credited by some with thwarting Napoleon's invasion of 1812. In this episode, Rebecca, Arion and Olly interrogate the reportage that continues to promote the ‘miracles' performed by the painting; reveal Hermann Goering's role in the fascinating 20th century history of the work; and recall a religious image of squirting milk that, once seen, cannot be unseen... The SPIEF has transformed from a place where black caviar is eaten with spoons and escort girls dance into the country's main opposition event this year to a much gloomier event.Putin's Minister of Economy says that the country is on the brink of recession. Gref notes that the economy is worse than expected. Deputy Makarov speaks directly about triubles in the investment climate. And that's not all.For the first time at this level, everything that Vladimir Milov was talking about for weeks is being voiced by Putin's cohorts. Against this background, Putin looks inadequate, who, perhaps, was the only one at the entire forum telling how wonderful everything is.The problems are only growing, and there is simply no way out of them. Money is running out at an incredible speed, there is nowhere to get new resources. The only opportunity looming on the horizon for Russia is the rise in oil prices due to the war between Israel and Iran, but even here, things are not so simple. A short-term rise in prices could lead to an even more serious decline in the global economy - and a sharp drop in oil prices in the long term. This - and much more - is covered in the latest economic report with Vladimir Milov.YouTube channel of Vladimir Milov: @Vladimir_MilovSupport Vlad's work:Patreon: / milov Crypto: http://milov.org/donate.htm /Vladimir Milov on other social media:Telegram: https://t.me/team_milov Facebook: /milov.vladimir Twitter: / v_milov Instaghram: /milov_ruEnglish translation by PrivateerStationOriginal video in Russian: https://youtu.be/Y6uKrm6xgqY--------------------------------------------------Privateer Station on Spreaker: https://www.spreaker.com/show/privateer-station-war-in-ukrainePS on Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/c-1582435PS on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/privateerstationPS on iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/53-privateer-station-war-in-uk-101486106/PS on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5iEdf0Jyw1Y3kN04k8rPibPS on ApplePodcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/privateer-station-war-in-ukraine/id1648603352PS on Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuc3ByZWFrZXIuY29tL3Nob3cvNTY0NzQzOS9lcGlzb2Rlcy9mZWVkPS on PadcastAddict: https://podcastaddict.com/podcast/4079993PS on PodChaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/privateer-station-war-in-ukrai-4860097PS on Deezer: https://www.deezer.com/us/show/4546617PS on Castbox: https://castbox.fm/channel/id5162050If you like what we do and would like to support our channel, consider becoming a member:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT3qCbfcPbnph7QS3CPBTMQ/joinBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/privateer-station-war-in-ukraine--5647439/support.

What happens when a generation of preachers rises up without mentors? In this energising and deeply personal talk, Rev Raymond L. Bukenya challenges pastors and leaders to take the biblical call to mentoring preachers seriously—for the health of the church today and the sake of gospel clarity tomorrow.Drawing from Scripture, history, and personal experience, Raymond argues that preaching mentorship is not optional—it is essential. He diagnoses why mentoring is often lacking in African church contexts, explains what faithful mentoring should look like, and calls preachers to pass on both sound doctrine and godly character.Along the way, Raymond shares colourful and memorable analogies—including one involving barbecues and pig ears—that bring this vital message to life. In this episode, Mike speaks with Dr Pamela MacRae, Professor of Ministry to Women and Ministry to Victims of Sexual Exploitation at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. With decades of experience in local church ministry and nearly twenty years teaching at Moody, Dr MacRae offers thoughtful insight on how preachers can communicate the Bible with clarity and care - particularly when speaking to congregations that are often more than half women.Pam reflects on the first time she taught the Bible, how she has grown as a communicator, and what bad habits she has worked to leave behind. She and Mike also discuss her chapter How Women Hear the Sermon from The Moody Handbook of Preaching, exploring the dynamics of how women engage with preaching and what opportunities and challenges that presents. The conversation also touches on a class she teaches called Pastoral Care of Women, which equips male pastoral students to preach and minister more thoughtfully to the women in their churches. She offers advice to male pastors and preachers - particularly those from complementarian settings - on how to serve the women in their churches with greater attentiveness and understanding. This episode is a valuable conversation for anyone serious about teaching the Bible faithfully to the whole church.Recommended resources: Shepherding Women in Pain: Real Women, Real Issues, and What You Need to Know to Truly HelpBeverly Hislophttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7944332-shepherding-women-in-pain  Worthy: Celebrating the Value of WomenBy Elyse Fitzpatrick and Eric Schumacher :https://elysefitzpatrick.com/book/worthy-celebrating-the-value-of-women/ Cheer Her On interview with Dr MacRae:https://open.spotify.com/episode/7HeHAKwRTwTYESbPres1bq?si=fc0f8cffa8764a78 Register for our next in person training event August 22-23, 2025 St Petersburg, Florida Calvary Chapel St. Petersburghttps://expositorscollective.org/gatherings/The Expositors Collective podcast is part of the CGNMedia, Working together to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and plant churches. You know the Tampa Bay Rays. If you're a baseball fan, you follow the wins and losses. But if you're a taxpayer in St Petersburg or Pinellas County, the ongoing stadium saga may grab your attention. The city of St Petersburg is fixing the damaged roof of Tropicana Field. Across the Bay in Tampa - the team plays its home games at Steinbrenner FieldBut here's the question you - and a lot of your neighbors - really want answered once and for all: Will the team stick around long-term after the one-point-three billion dollar deal to redevelop the stadium collapsed? WUSF's Steve Newborn, and Tampa Bay Times reporter Colleen Wright stopped by Florida Matters to help get you caught up with the latest twists and turns with the Rays and why this story reverberates far beyond the Trop. “The [St. Petersburg] mayor [Ken Welch] won't work with this ownership group,” Wright added. “I know that that sentiment is the same, also at the county level, they feel the same way, and they also feel like, if the Rays couldn't make it work with 700 plus million dollars in public funding, would it ever work? I don't know.” Newborn said negotiations on a new stadium go back decades. “This was pitched by Mayor Welch as a way to right what he views as an historical wrong. He had relatives who grew up in that old Gas Plant neighborhood which was bulldozed back in the 1980s to build this [Stadium], you know, which was by no means a sure thing. It was kind of ‘build it and they will come', right?” “So all this was seen as basically spurring a development that would create new taxes in the area around the stadium, right, that would make it profitable.”

I think this Offshoot episode will make you pause next time you find yourself in front of a colourful wall of seed packets. As with many seemingly simple things, the story of a small seed, can in fact be a lot more fascinating and complicated than it might at first appear. So take a journey into the history and science of seeds. We'll ponder the Portuguese, spreading pepper seeds around the world and seed banks in St Petersburg, Syria and the Arctic Circle. We'll hear about the skills of Ethiopian farmers. Adam Alexander, also known as the seed detective and a self confessed vegetable anorak is endlessly curious about seeds and in his new book The Accidental Seed Heroes he is on the trail of the growers who are championing traditional varieties and breeding new ones that will adapt to our changing climate. What can these seed heroes teach us, as we think about what to grow this April?.Takeaways: The inception of plant breeding can be traced back to our Neolithic ancestors, who began selecting wild relatives for cultivation approximately 12,000 years ago, primarily focusing on cereals. Adam Alexander, the author of The Accidental Seed Heroes, emphasises the significance of traditional plant breeding and the critical need to preserve genetic diversity in crops for future food security. The podcast highlights the remarkable adaptive capabilities of open-pollinated crops, which are essential for resilience against climate change and environmental fluctuations. The discussion reveals the importance of seed banks and living collections, such as the Vavilov Institute, in maintaining genetic diversity and supporting agro-biodiversity. Adam Alexander describes his travels to Ethiopia and Albania, where he learned from indigenous farmers who practice sustainable agriculture and maintain a rich diversity of crops. The episode sheds light on the necessity of evolving our agricultural practices to ensure food security in the face of climate change, advocating for the cultivation of diverse and adaptive crop varieties.
