Y'all know we love a good whodunit! In E34, your hosts Jared and Lauren crack open the Negronomicon to talk about the fiasco that was the Emmys and a remake no one asked for before they get into the 2021 release Werewolves Within, a uniquely hilarious horror-comedy take on the which-one-of-us-isn't-like-the-other genre. From the way the film uses archetypes to its advantage, the rapid-fire humor, Finn's interesting characterization and the question of "What is considered horror?" being raised, there's a lot to ponder with a film that critics have called "Clue with werewolves."Gems from Episode 34Family Guy (1999)Aqua Teen Hunger Force (2000)Squidbillies (2005)Celebrity Deathmatch (1998)Futurama (1999)Robot Chicken (2005)Sealab 2021 (2000)Space Ghost Coast to Coast (1994)Superjail (2007)Criminal Minds (2005)Ted Lasso (2020)Schitt's Creek (2015)Insecure (2016)Mare of Easttown (2021)The Sopranos (1999)The Many Saints of Newark (2021)Lovecraft Country (2020)I May Destroy You (2020)Hamilton (2015)The Muppet Show (1976)RuPaul's Drag Race (2009)Pose (2018)Ed Edd n' Eddy (1999)The Lost Boys (1987)A Quiet Place (2018)It (2007)Stranger Things (2016)Halloween Kills (2021)No Time to Die (2021Werewolves Within (2021)Clue (1985)Among Us (2018, video game)The Beast Must Die (1974)Veep (2012)The Tomorrow War (2021)Van Helsing (2004)Underworld (2003)Hide and Seek (2005)Needful Things (1993)30 Days of Night (2007)Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2011)Jurassic Park III (2001)Slice (2018)Scary Movie (2000)Scream (1996)Scare Me (2020)The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

With his latest film, “False Positive,” director John Lee takes the always thrilling genre of psychological horror and combines it with his signature dark comedy to construct a commentary on pregnancy, and a woman's right to her own bodily autonomy. Written by Lee, Ilana Glazer, and Alissa Nutting, “False Positive” stars Glazer as Lucy, who - along with her husband Adrian (Justin Theroux) - has been trying and failing to get pregnant. It's only after they find the fertility doctor of their dreams, Dr. Hindle, that the couple achieves success, learning that they are going to have a baby girl. However, Lucy detects something sinister about the doctor, and in investigating it, unravels the truth about him and her pregnancy. The character of Dr. Hindle, with his effortless charm that turns into something dark and mysterious, requires an actor who can play both sides; the charismatic hero but also the disturbed villain. In steps Pierce Brosnan, James Bond himself, to weave the character and his arc back and forth across that line. Brosnan is of course most famous for Bond and other dashing heroic roles, but his resume is also filled with ambiguous or fully antagonistic turns as well ranging from his antihero hitman in “The Matador,” or corrupt bureaucrats in “The Tailor of Panama” and “The Foreigner.” "False Positive's" straddling of tonal lines is also something that naturally fits into Lee's sensibilities as a filmmaker. Having been a key creative voice behind shows such as “Wonder Showzen,” “Superjail!,” and “The Heart, She Holler,” Lee would often contrast pleasing aesthetics and upbeat tonalities with morbid, oftentimes grotesque, and controversial humor. Between that background and his conviction in not mincing words as a creator, it allows him to convincingly craft a horror vehicle with teeth, while also strengthening the confronting messaging inherent in a film like “False Positive.” We spoke with Lee and Brosnan about "False Positive," particularly regarding its social and political relevance in a world where so much emphasis is put on women having children, but not providing them with a proper set of resources once they do get pregnant. Of course, in between talking about “False Positive,” we had to sneak in at least one Bond question. It's been nearly 20 years since Brosnan portrayed the iconic spy, and we were curious what differences there would be in his interpretation of the role today. You can listen to the rest of our exciting conversation with Pierce Brosnan and John Lee below and check out A24's "False Positive" when it hits Hulu on June 25th. Even if you don't know who Joe Wong is, you're almost certainly aware of his work. The Los Angeles-based composer and producer can be heard on television shows like Russian Doll, Ugly Delicious, Master of None and Superjail, as well as films like To All The Boys I've Loved Before and Seven Stages to Achieve Eternal Bliss. He also co-produced Fred Armisen's Netflix special, Standup For Drummers. Beyond his on-screen efforts, Wong also interviews some of the world's most accomplished percussionists on The Trap Set — an excellent drummer-focused podcast that has released more than 230 episodes. On top of all that work in a variety of mediums, Wong continues to write and record his own music. While back in his hometown of Milwaukee over Thanksgiving, Wong met up with My First Band host Tyler Maas to talk about his eclectic artistic résumé that spans the realms of television, film, podcasting and live performance. The conversation also made its way to Wong's interest in drumming during adolescence, his formative high school and college bands and his time living in a Riverwest house venue that would later be featured on an episode of Hoarders. Over the course of the hour-long discussion, Wong also talked about his foray into the interesting world of TV and film scoring. My First Band is sponsored by Boulevard Brewing and Mystery Room Mastering. The show is edited by Jared Blohm. You can listen to My First Band on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify and wherever else you get podcasts. Music used in this show comes courtesy of Devils Teeth ("The Junction Street Eight Tigers") and Joe Wong ("Hard Reset").
Animation guru and Titmouse Founder Chris Prynoski offers very specific advice for aspiring animators and considers the question "Is Art School worth it?"
Chris Prynoski never dreamed he would run his own animation studio until he started to do just that with Titmouse Inc. Chris joins episode 138 of the podcast to talk about starting out in animation in the early nineties at MTV, working on many titles in the Liquid Television era. Chris also worked on Beavis and Butthead Do America, helping to plot out the famous hallucination sequence in the movie. But then Chris just wanted to start his own T-shirt company on the side of his animation career, and Titmouse was born. Chris quickly learned he could actually start his own animation studio, and Titmouse has become a giant player in cartoons today, producing fan favorites on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Netflix including Metalocoplyse, The Venture Brothers, and Big Mouth. Titmouse Inc is also integral in one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns in history for Critical Role - The Legend of Vox Machina, a new animated series based in the realm of Dungeons and Dragons. The creator of Superjail and Ballmastrz 9009 explains why he sleeps at the studio and offers up some interesting ways to die.
Brotherhood Without Manners - A Game of Thrones reread Podcast
Brotherhood Without Manners is back with another full spoiler reread. This time we are reading Bran 4. The first chapter after Bran has awakened after his crippling fall. We talk about his desire to join his brothers as if the fall had not happened. Old Nan tells us some creepy old stories that could mean anything at this point. (we see you Old Nan) Robb is holding court for Lord Tyrion, but it is not quite the warm invitation Tyrion was expecting. The Direwolves react strangely when chancing up our Lord of Lannister. As always we give our chapter inductees. 00:01:26,700 sorts a bamboozled right now so if we 24 00:01:24,479 --> 00:01:28,829 take a minute to kind of regain our 25 00:01:26,700 --> 00:01:30,420 thought that is probably why because 26 00:01:28,829 --> 00:01:33,000 we're right in the thick of it with 27 00:01:30,420 --> 00:01:35,189 season 8 as well but needless to say 28 00:01:33,000 --> 00:01:37,650 we're still loving every because this 29 00:01:35,189 --> 00:01:40,590 episode this uh this comes out what's 30 00:01:37,650 --> 00:01:42,479 what's happened with seasoning ah season 31 00:01:40,590 --> 00:01:45,090 eight take some time 40 00:02:00,000 --> 00:02:04,979 for our grand conclusion sort of as a 41 00:02:02,460 --> 00:02:06,270 series as a whole we know that we're 42 00:02:04,979 --> 00:02:07,979 assuming that that's probably gonna be a 43 00:02:06,270 --> 00:02:09,209 longer episode so we want to take some 44 00:02:07,979 --> 00:02:11,340 time and really put some good thought 45 00:02:09,209 --> 00:02:13,739 into it so it might not we might go back 46 00:02:11,340 --> 00:02:16,290 to our regularly scheduled 47 00:02:13,739 --> 00:02:17,969 releases two episodes of the books a 48 00:02:16,290 --> 00:02:20,219 week and then just takes a little off 49 00:02:17,969 --> 00:02:21,780 time to gather that episode together and 50 00:02:20,219 --> 00:02:22,500 then we'll release it to you both well let's do it them already for so we 102 00:04:19,109 --> 00:04:23,729 open this chapter as bran is watching 103 00:04:20,970 --> 00:04:25,320 from his window seat as Rick on runs in 104 00:04:23,729 --> 00:04:27,480 the yard with his wolves 105 00:04:25,320 --> 00:04:29,490 gray wind shaggy-dog and summer are 106 00:04:27,480 --> 00:04:33,150 all chasing recon around they're just 107 00:04:29,490 --> 00:04:34,410 having a grand old time after watching 108 00:04:33,150 --> 00:04:36,510 them first I can brand things to himself 109 00:04:34,410 --> 00:04:37,830 that summer seems to be the smartest of 110 00:04:36,510 --> 00:04:40,290 the litter so yeah there's definitely 111 00:04:37,830 --> 00:04:42,120 some honestly it sounds like a fucking 112 00:04:40,290 --> 00:04:45,120 blast running around down there in the 113 00:04:42,120 --> 00:04:47,040 yard with them yeah you know run down to 114 00:04:45,120 --> 00:04:49,860 the loving life right and and bran is 115 00:04:47,040 --> 00:04:51,150 not he's super jealous of Rickon he's 116 00:04:49,860 --> 00:04:52,800 really wishing he could be down there 117 00:04:51,150 --> 00:04:54,450 running around play and messing around 118 00:04:52,800 --> 00:04:56,160 well I mean this poor kid like he 119 00:04:54,450 --> 00:04:58,710 literally went from a month ago doing 120 00:04:56,160 --> 00:05:00,720 exactly that to now having to be forced 121 00:04:58,710 --> 00:05:02,640 to sit there so he's he's angry at the 122 00:05:00,720 --> 00:05:04,050 thought as I start to sort of well up as 123 00:05:02,640 --> 00:05:05,940 he's watching and he wipes the tears 124 00:05:04,050 --> 00:05:07,800 away and he thinks to himself that his 125 00:05:05,940 --> 00:05:10,590 eighth name day had come and passed he 126 00:05:07,800 --> 00:05:12,630 was almost a man grown now too old to be 127 00:05:10,590 --> 00:05:14,130 crying right and like you said he's he's 128 00:05:12,630 --> 00:05:16,530 pretty pissed off and he says that he's 129 00:05:14,130 --> 00:05:19,140 mad because the crow said that he would 130 00:05:16,530 --> 00:05:21,660 fly and he can't even run let alone fly 131 00:05:19,140 --> 00:05:23,160 is how he's thinking of it yeah and he 132 00:05:21,660 --> 00:05:25,590 says that out loud and we realize he's 133 00:05:23,160 --> 00:05:28,290 not alone old man is in there with him 134 00:05:25,590 --> 00:05:31,530 and she agrees all crows are liars how 135 00:05:28,290 --> 00:05:33,390 can we do a quick skirt cuz it tripped 136 00:05:31,530 --> 00:05:37,710 me up and it tripped me up a lot in 137 00:05:33,390 --> 00:05:40,140 reading this part where I don't know if 138 00:05:37,710 --> 00:05:42,390 it's a if it's a typo as far as editing 139 00:05:40,140 --> 00:05:44,640 or if it's meant to be in the book bran 140 00:05:42,390 --> 00:05:49,110 does not say out loud anything about the 141 00:05:44,640 --> 00:05:53,160 crow he says they're liars and old man 142 00:05:49,110 --> 00:05:54,780 says I oh so yeah you're right it is 143 00:05:53,160 --> 00:05:57,600 like that I had just assumed it was 144 00:05:54,780 --> 00:05:59,490 because he he had been talking about it 145 00:05:57,600 --> 00:06:01,800 previously but yeah you're right I mean 146 00:05:59,490 --> 00:06:03,360 like his old man on some next level I 147 00:06:01,800 --> 00:06:05,340 mean I think there's more to her story 148 00:06:03,360 --> 00:06:08,340 and we get quite a bit of a yeah and I'm 149 00:06:05,340 --> 00:06:10,320 gonna go heavy into that here it says it 150 00:06:08,340 --> 00:06:12,510 was just a lie he said bitterly 151 00:06:10,320 --> 00:06:15,660 remembering the crow from his dreams I 152 00:06:12,510 --> 00:06:17,220 can't fly I can't even run that he says 153 00:06:15,660 --> 00:06:18,840 out loud as well I can't fly I can't 154 00:06:17,220 --> 00:06:21,300 even run and so I think that's what let 155 00:06:18,840 --> 00:06:23,580 me Rose are all liars old name I thought 156 00:06:21,300 --> 00:06:25,980 that when he says I can't fly I can't 157 00:06:23,580 --> 00:06:27,840 even run he had told at least her you 158 00:06:25,980 --> 00:06:29,280 know I had this dream about a crow that 159 00:06:27,840 --> 00:06:31,230 was telling me to but that definitely 160 00:06:29,280 --> 00:06:32,760 could be an assumption yeah yeah I just 161 00:06:31,230 --> 00:06:34,560 picked up that he didn't mention it out 162 00:06:32,760 --> 00:06:37,020 loud and she immediately yeah crows are 163 00:06:34,560 --> 00:06:38,310 all liars I know a story about the crow 164 00:06:37,020 --> 00:06:39,420 and it's saying all right oh and then 165 00:06:38,310 --> 00:06:40,200 I'm watching you 166 00:06:39,420 --> 00:06:42,600 yeah and 167 00:06:40,200 --> 00:06:44,580 he uh he doesn't want to hear her say I 168 00:06:42,600 --> 00:06:46,530 don't want no story so he says he 169 00:06:44,580 --> 00:06:49,590 doesn't to hear her stupid stories and 170 00:06:46,530 --> 00:06:53,880 she's like my stories no little Lord the 171 00:06:49,590 --> 00:06:58,350 stories are before me after me before 172 00:06:53,880 --> 00:07:00,120 you - yo I'm losing my fucking mind over 173 00:06:58,350 --> 00:07:03,320 this line here I mean when you see here 174 00:07:00,120 --> 00:07:12,690 in the streets and then goes yeah yeah 175 00:07:03,320 --> 00:07:16,380 so she says stories are before me after 176 00:07:12,690 --> 00:07:20,370 me before you - not after you 177 00:07:16,380 --> 00:07:24,390 he of course it would be before him if 178 00:07:20,370 --> 00:07:29,370 it was before her unless she knows that 179 00:07:24,390 --> 00:07:32,430 there's a page or her and so like does 180 00:07:29,370 --> 00:07:37,830 she know some shit man because why would 181 00:07:32,430 --> 00:07:40,950 she say before you - if he's fucking a 182 00:07:37,830 --> 00:07:43,110 one one-hundredth her fuckin yeah yes 183 00:07:40,950 --> 00:07:45,900 like she's what like a thousand or 184 00:07:43,110 --> 00:07:48,060 something like that that doesn't it's 185 00:07:45,900 --> 00:07:49,530 concerned old man is like the night's 186 00:07:48,060 --> 00:07:50,910 king from the show she's leading them 187 00:07:49,530 --> 00:07:53,610 with the others she's the leader of the 188 00:07:50,910 --> 00:07:54,540 White Walkers no she's like yeah she's 189 00:07:53,610 --> 00:07:57,300 such an interesting character because 190 00:07:54,540 --> 00:08:00,810 who is this woman really and why does 191 00:07:57,300 --> 00:08:02,910 she seem to tell like not yet her 192 00:08:00,810 --> 00:08:04,470 stories feel significant even has a few 193 00:08:02,910 --> 00:08:05,910 more things yeah yeah she's got yeah 194 00:08:04,470 --> 00:08:08,040 well we'll just keep going on I just 195 00:08:05,910 --> 00:08:09,390 that line specifically really it's 196 00:08:08,040 --> 00:08:12,480 fucking with me cuz it's like what do 197 00:08:09,390 --> 00:08:14,730 you mean before you - yeah when you're 198 00:08:12,480 --> 00:08:18,330 older than he is so if you say before me 199 00:08:14,730 --> 00:08:21,030 obviously that encompasses before him 200 00:08:18,330 --> 00:08:22,290 bran spitefully thinks and this is when 201 00:08:21,030 --> 00:08:24,090 we get our first look at old man that 202 00:08:22,290 --> 00:08:26,070 she's an ugly old woman almost blind 203 00:08:24,090 --> 00:08:27,720 she's too weak to climb the stairs and 204 00:08:26,070 --> 00:08:29,760 she only had a few wisps of hair left on 205 00:08:27,720 --> 00:08:31,890 her head and then he goes on a little 206 00:08:29,760 --> 00:08:34,290 further and says no one knew how old nan 207 00:08:31,890 --> 00:08:36,510 was but his father had said that she was 208 00:08:34,290 --> 00:08:37,560 called old nan even when he had been a 209 00:08:36,510 --> 00:08:39,810 boy at Winterfell 210 00:08:37,560 --> 00:08:42,240 she was the oldest person in Winterfell 211 00:08:39,810 --> 00:08:44,670 for sure and bran things possibly in the 212 00:08:42,240 --> 00:08:48,840 whole of the Seven Kingdoms and then we 213 00:08:44,670 --> 00:08:51,720 get the extended description of really 214 00:08:48,840 --> 00:08:53,190 where she came from and why yeah she 215 00:08:51,720 --> 00:08:56,610 initially 216 00:08:53,190 --> 00:08:58,319 was if she came to take care yes she 217 00:08:56,610 --> 00:09:00,899 came to the castle as a wet nurse for 218 00:08:58,319 --> 00:09:04,740 any Brandon or a Brandon stark whose 219 00:09:00,899 --> 00:09:06,509 mother had died birthing him now forgive 220 00:09:04,740 --> 00:09:08,910 me because I should be more versed in 221 00:09:06,509 --> 00:09:11,790 this sort of history but I don't know if 222 00:09:08,910 --> 00:09:14,040 we actually can pinpoint who that is and 223 00:09:11,790 --> 00:09:16,019 if if we can if somebody's put together 224 00:09:14,040 --> 00:09:18,029 the evidence in the clues and the 225 00:09:16,019 --> 00:09:19,290 know-how and what needs to know please 226 00:09:18,029 --> 00:09:21,149 write in to us and let us know if you 227 00:09:19,290 --> 00:09:23,550 know who this Brandon Stark that is 228 00:09:21,149 --> 00:09:26,430 she's referencing is so yeah he kind of 229 00:09:23,550 --> 00:09:29,519 says that it's like it was her his 230 00:09:26,430 --> 00:09:33,240 grandfather's brother or maybe it was 231 00:09:29,519 --> 00:09:34,920 well he says sometimes old nan had told 232 00:09:33,240 --> 00:09:36,420 it one way and sometimes she would tell 233 00:09:34,920 --> 00:09:38,579 another so yeah sometimes it was his 234 00:09:36,420 --> 00:09:41,970 grandfather's brother other times it was 235 00:09:38,579 --> 00:09:44,190 the father before that even so it always 236 00:09:41,970 --> 00:09:47,130 seems to change with old Nan's but in 237 00:09:44,190 --> 00:09:49,800 all the stories the boy had died at 3 of 238 00:09:47,130 --> 00:09:52,649 a summer chill but old nan stayed on 239 00:09:49,800 --> 00:09:54,690 with her own children and lived at 240 00:09:52,649 --> 00:09:57,180 Winterfell from then on she lost both 241 00:09:54,690 --> 00:09:58,889 her son's in Robert's rebellion and her 242 00:09:57,180 --> 00:10:00,959 grandson was killed at Pike during 243 00:09:58,889 --> 00:10:04,230 baylin's racquel rebellion and all her 244 00:10:00,959 --> 00:10:06,540 daughters were married off and gone so I 245 00:10:04,230 --> 00:10:09,089 actually didn't really remember that old 246 00:10:06,540 --> 00:10:11,189 Nana had this many children and that 247 00:10:09,089 --> 00:10:14,579 actually were sort of involved in Kurt 248 00:10:11,189 --> 00:10:16,620 effects so now all that's left cuz yeah 249 00:10:14,579 --> 00:10:19,230 her her daughters had married moved away 250 00:10:16,620 --> 00:10:21,600 and died is her great I think it says 251 00:10:19,230 --> 00:10:24,180 later on it's like is her great grant a 252 00:10:21,600 --> 00:10:26,850 great great grandson Hodor 253 00:10:24,180 --> 00:10:28,980 but old man lives on just keeps going 254 00:10:26,850 --> 00:10:31,380 traveling I stories probably smoking a 255 00:10:28,980 --> 00:10:33,209 pack of menthols a day but brad says I 256 00:10:31,380 --> 00:10:36,120 don't care whose stories they are I hate 257 00:10:33,209 --> 00:10:37,680 them and he goes on to list all the 258 00:10:36,120 --> 00:10:40,920 things he does want which is just 259 00:10:37,680 --> 00:10:42,839 standard kid shit yes run he wants to 260 00:10:40,920 --> 00:10:45,540 ride he wants to be with his friends and 261 00:10:42,839 --> 00:10:46,949 brothers one particular line that stood 262 00:10:45,540 --> 00:10:49,079 out to me was he wanted to climb the 263 00:10:46,949 --> 00:10:52,050 broken Tower and feed corn to the crows 264 00:10:49,079 --> 00:10:54,149 I just hmm we kind of got that in his 265 00:10:52,050 --> 00:10:56,550 dream sequence a couple chapters back 266 00:10:54,149 --> 00:10:58,980 but yeah we made a little to-do about 267 00:10:56,550 --> 00:11:02,250 that as well with him an old man I mean 268 00:10:58,980 --> 00:11:03,809 just never short on these these lines I 269 00:11:02,250 --> 00:11:06,000 know a story about the boy who hated 270 00:11:03,809 --> 00:11:07,920 stories I like that is that what 271 00:11:06,000 --> 00:11:09,930 smile like she doesn't she doesn't know 272 00:11:07,920 --> 00:11:12,570 story I mean she probably she probably 273 00:11:09,930 --> 00:11:14,940 absolutely does no she's just saying it 274 00:11:12,570 --> 00:11:17,760 to get to him but brand knows that it's 275 00:11:14,940 --> 00:11:19,170 never gonna be the way it was before he 276 00:11:17,760 --> 00:11:21,780 fell the crow had tricked him into 277 00:11:19,170 --> 00:11:24,360 flying but when he had woken he was 278 00:11:21,780 --> 00:11:26,760 broken in the world and changed so he's 279 00:11:24,360 --> 00:11:28,800 really feeling betrayed by this crow 280 00:11:26,760 --> 00:11:32,640 that he trusted in his dreams that lied 281 00:11:28,800 --> 00:11:34,200 to him and he's hating the lack of use 282 00:11:32,640 --> 00:11:35,700 of his legs which I mean I can't blame 283 00:11:34,200 --> 00:11:38,820 him I'm sure any one sort of goes 284 00:11:35,700 --> 00:11:42,180 through this anger stage of yeah and so 285 00:11:38,820 --> 00:11:44,460 he he really just starts talking about 286 00:11:42,180 --> 00:11:46,320 thinking about this this broken world 287 00:11:44,460 --> 00:11:48,840 that he woke up into because you know 288 00:11:46,320 --> 00:11:51,360 last he was he was climbing the the boys 289 00:11:48,840 --> 00:11:53,250 were out for a hunt it was you know he 290 00:11:51,360 --> 00:11:55,620 was going to fucking King's Landing the 291 00:11:53,250 --> 00:11:59,220 next day he wakes up everyone's gone 292 00:11:55,620 --> 00:12:01,680 yeah everybody except for Rob and Rickon 293 00:11:59,220 --> 00:12:05,250 and Meister Louie yeah that's about it 294 00:12:01,680 --> 00:12:07,590 Owen fucking Theon dick Greyjoy and so 295 00:12:05,250 --> 00:12:10,170 like for an eight-year-old kid to wake 296 00:12:07,590 --> 00:12:12,480 up and everybody you know is no longer 297 00:12:10,170 --> 00:12:15,210 there and he wasn't conscious or present 298 00:12:12,480 --> 00:12:17,790 for all their goodbyes yeah worrying he 299 00:12:15,210 --> 00:12:21,060 just they're gone that you know and you 300 00:12:17,790 --> 00:12:23,339 know it's it's very similar to how Jon 301 00:12:21,060 --> 00:12:25,380 Snow felt and I forget exactly what it 302 00:12:23,339 --> 00:12:27,180 was we were talking about with him 303 00:12:25,380 --> 00:12:31,230 brooding about being miserable and shit 304 00:12:27,180 --> 00:12:32,970 but it's like he doesn't understand that 305 00:12:31,230 --> 00:12:35,339 they're not doing it because they hate 306 00:12:32,970 --> 00:12:40,620 him like that it's because these things 307 00:12:35,339 --> 00:12:42,660 rose he know that it gets worse because 308 00:12:40,620 --> 00:12:44,100 maester Luwin had sent letters to his 309 00:12:42,660 --> 00:12:46,440 mother his father and even to John at 310 00:12:44,100 --> 00:12:48,420 the wall but no replies came back so 311 00:12:46,440 --> 00:12:51,060 bran sort of thinking like oh they left 312 00:12:48,420 --> 00:12:53,910 and they don't care enough to reply that 313 00:12:51,060 --> 00:12:56,460 you know brands awake and and wants them 314 00:12:53,910 --> 00:12:58,860 back right and it said that bran felt as 315 00:12:56,460 --> 00:13:01,110 if they had all died while he slept or 316 00:12:58,860 --> 00:13:05,190 perhaps he had and they had all 317 00:13:01,110 --> 00:13:06,660 forgotten him which I know I know we 318 00:13:05,190 --> 00:13:09,570 really don't like to do it but as season 319 00:13:06,660 --> 00:13:11,880 8 is currently airing there was an 320 00:13:09,570 --> 00:13:13,380 interesting bit where sort of brain is 321 00:13:11,880 --> 00:13:16,560 supposed to represent all knowledge and 322 00:13:13,380 --> 00:13:18,360 so like this I really try not to like I 323 00:13:16,560 --> 00:13:19,500 doubt I don't I really don't want to go 324 00:13:18,360 --> 00:13:23,520 too far into it 325 00:13:19,500 --> 00:13:26,940 but I just I thought yeah of being so my 326 00:13:23,520 --> 00:13:29,760 most important idea and so only rob baby 327 00:13:26,940 --> 00:13:32,730 recon remained and Rob had changed Rob 328 00:13:29,760 --> 00:13:35,010 was Lord Rama he's just way too busy for 329 00:13:32,730 --> 00:13:36,930 them at this yes he's got to do all the 330 00:13:35,010 --> 00:13:38,880 stuff that the Lord has to do its drill 331 00:13:36,930 --> 00:13:40,890 in the guard and at during the day and 332 00:13:38,880 --> 00:13:42,690 at night he and Lewin would go and talk 333 00:13:40,890 --> 00:13:44,670 or go over the account books and 334 00:13:42,690 --> 00:13:48,210 sometimes he was even gone for just days 335 00:13:44,670 --> 00:13:51,360 visiting other holdfasts which you know 336 00:13:48,210 --> 00:13:53,580 is his Lords duty and brand notes that 337 00:13:51,360 --> 00:13:55,680 even when he was home Rob seemed to have 338 00:13:53,580 --> 00:13:58,110 more time for Hal and Mullen and theon 339 00:13:55,680 --> 00:13:59,700 greyjoy then he did his own brothers so 340 00:13:58,110 --> 00:14:03,390 bran is just feeling abandoned by 341 00:13:59,700 --> 00:14:04,350 everyone around him even Rob who and 342 00:14:03,390 --> 00:14:06,510 we'll we'll see at the end of the 343 00:14:04,350 --> 00:14:08,370 chapter Rob is feeling the same way Rob 344 00:14:06,510 --> 00:14:10,560 yeah Rob he's putting on this little 345 00:14:08,370 --> 00:14:13,200 Lord front you know doing what he has to 346 00:14:10,560 --> 00:14:15,390 do but he's still just a kid and so yeah 347 00:14:13,200 --> 00:14:17,790 so old man offers to tell him the story 348 00:14:15,390 --> 00:14:19,590 of Brandon the Builder and says that was 349 00:14:17,790 --> 00:14:22,380 always one of your favorites yes so this 350 00:14:19,590 --> 00:14:25,470 year brings up the next line that really 351 00:14:22,380 --> 00:14:27,720 just fucking really gets me with old man 352 00:14:25,470 --> 00:14:29,850 where because bran is like it's not one 353 00:14:27,720 --> 00:14:32,670 of my favorites that they never it never 354 00:14:29,850 --> 00:14:36,120 was one and he mentions that I think it 355 00:14:32,670 --> 00:14:39,710 was Catelyn Stark told him that at this 356 00:14:36,120 --> 00:14:42,810 point in time old to old nan all 357 00:14:39,710 --> 00:14:44,370 Brandon's all Brandon Starks had become 358 00:14:42,810 --> 00:14:47,370 one person her head 359 00:14:44,370 --> 00:14:48,900 and you know with all the theories out 360 00:14:47,370 --> 00:14:52,080 there about brand being bran the Builder 361 00:14:48,900 --> 00:14:53,460 and have talked about you know there's 362 00:14:52,080 --> 00:14:54,780 different ones where it's just bran the 363 00:14:53,460 --> 00:14:56,310 Builder there's ones where it's every 364 00:14:54,780 --> 00:15:00,150 brand in throughout the history of the 365 00:14:56,310 --> 00:15:02,580 Starks yeah you know just for that to 366 00:15:00,150 --> 00:15:04,560 come up in an old man thing like for her 367 00:15:02,580 --> 00:15:06,960 to have this small little hint that you 368 00:15:04,560 --> 00:15:10,500 know maybe they are all and it's so 369 00:15:06,960 --> 00:15:12,270 early on in the series yeah and fuck you 370 00:15:10,500 --> 00:15:15,540 old man what are you hiding old Nana's 371 00:15:12,270 --> 00:15:18,090 quaithe I'm calling it now so Brent says 372 00:15:15,540 --> 00:15:19,830 my favorites were the scary one sink and 373 00:15:18,090 --> 00:15:22,080 eat some hot shit outside but then he 374 00:15:19,830 --> 00:15:23,940 turns to some commotion and he's 375 00:15:22,080 --> 00:15:26,250 watching his recon runs across the yard 376 00:15:23,940 --> 00:15:27,690 with the wolves but Brandt's window is 377 00:15:26,250 --> 00:15:29,430 facing the wrong way so he can't see 378 00:15:27,690 --> 00:15:31,350 what's happening and gets really mad and 379 00:15:29,430 --> 00:15:33,089 slams his hand into his side and will 380 00:15:31,350 --> 00:15:35,279 learn that that right there if you're 381 00:15:33,089 --> 00:15:36,449 not sure it's just Tyrion Lannister and 382 00:15:35,279 --> 00:15:38,519 the Nights Watch arrived yeah they're 383 00:15:36,449 --> 00:15:41,550 just arriving there but he punches his 384 00:15:38,519 --> 00:15:44,610 fist and feels nothing and this is when 385 00:15:41,550 --> 00:15:46,800 we get old man's yeah man what what do 386 00:15:44,610 --> 00:15:48,600 you know a fear and she says fears for 387 00:15:46,800 --> 00:15:50,509 the winter for the long night when the 388 00:15:48,600 --> 00:15:53,939 snow is fault that wasn't feet deep and 389 00:15:50,509 --> 00:15:55,829 then we get the the actual story that 390 00:15:53,939 --> 00:15:56,999 she wants to tell it I'm gonna I haven't 391 00:15:55,829 --> 00:15:59,550 done it in a couple chapters I'm gonna 392 00:15:56,999 --> 00:16:03,689 read straight from the book here cuz 393 00:15:59,550 --> 00:16:06,269 bran says you mean the others the others 394 00:16:03,689 --> 00:16:08,459 old nan agreed thousands and thousands 395 00:16:06,269 --> 00:16:10,829 of years ago a Winterfell that was cold 396 00:16:08,459 --> 00:16:13,439 and hard and endless beyond all memory 397 00:16:10,829 --> 00:16:15,899 of man there came a night that lasted a 398 00:16:13,439 --> 00:16:18,209 generation and kings shivered and died 399 00:16:15,899 --> 00:16:20,759 in their castles even as the swine herds 400 00:16:18,209 --> 00:16:22,740 in their hovels women smothered their 401 00:16:20,759 --> 00:16:25,079 children rather than see them starve and 402 00:16:22,740 --> 00:16:27,449 cried and felt their tears freeze on 403 00:16:25,079 --> 00:16:29,610 their cheeks her voice and needles fell 404 00:16:27,449 --> 00:16:32,970 silent and she glanced up at bran with 405 00:16:29,610 --> 00:16:36,749 pale flimsy eyes and asked so child is 406 00:16:32,970 --> 00:16:39,120 this the sort of story you like old man 407 00:16:36,749 --> 00:16:41,040 nodded in that darkness the others came 408 00:16:39,120 --> 00:16:43,110 for the first time she said as her 409 00:16:41,040 --> 00:16:45,929 needles went click-click-click they were 410 00:16:43,110 --> 00:16:48,389 cold things dead things that hated iron 411 00:16:45,929 --> 00:16:50,490 and fire and the touch of the Sun and 412 00:16:48,389 --> 00:16:53,100 every creature with hot blood in its 413 00:16:50,490 --> 00:16:55,620 veins they swept over holdfasts in 414 00:16:53,100 --> 00:16:57,959 cities and kingdoms felled heroes and 415 00:16:55,620 --> 00:17:00,540 armies by the score riding their pale 416 00:16:57,959 --> 00:17:03,240 dead horses leading hosts of the slain 417 00:17:00,540 --> 00:17:05,220 all the swords of men could not stay 418 00:17:03,240 --> 00:17:07,230 there advance and even maidens and 419 00:17:05,220 --> 00:17:09,240 suckling babes found no pity in them 420 00:17:07,230 --> 00:17:12,029 they hunted the maids through frozen 421 00:17:09,240 --> 00:17:14,360 forests and fed their dead servants on 422 00:17:12,029 --> 00:17:17,039 the flesh of human children 423 00:17:14,360 --> 00:17:20,039 holy shit nan 424 00:17:17,039 --> 00:17:22,529 yo so even before that little slot that 425 00:17:20,039 --> 00:17:25,260 whole segment there was one small line I 426 00:17:22,529 --> 00:17:29,159 wanted to mention where she says little 427 00:17:25,260 --> 00:17:33,840 children are born live and die all in 428 00:17:29,159 --> 00:17:36,480 darkness that's a shitty time to exist 429 00:17:33,840 --> 00:17:39,480 in so life that particular line I think 430 00:17:36,480 --> 00:17:40,980 is her directly referencing Craster's 431 00:17:39,480 --> 00:17:44,820 kids 432 00:17:40,980 --> 00:17:48,750 Oh because little children are born they 433 00:17:44,820 --> 00:17:49,800 live and die all in darkness so if she 434 00:17:48,750 --> 00:17:52,380 gives birth at night 435 00:17:49,800 --> 00:17:55,530 they bring the baby out to the others 436 00:17:52,380 --> 00:17:56,940 and they turn it and it's dead all in a 437 00:17:55,530 --> 00:17:59,010 night yeah 438 00:17:56,940 --> 00:18:00,720 and so I thought I mean I literally 439 00:17:59,010 --> 00:18:02,760 think it's also that there were children 440 00:18:00,720 --> 00:18:07,320 who well yeah I mean there's the literal 441 00:18:02,760 --> 00:18:11,790 thing though I feel like you could also 442 00:18:07,320 --> 00:18:13,320 be referencing Craster's yeah that story 443 00:18:11,790 --> 00:18:15,270 is just I mean that's that's the other 444 00:18:13,320 --> 00:18:17,250 it's it's a long night there was 445 00:18:15,270 --> 00:18:21,360 obviously more about the the companion 446 00:18:17,250 --> 00:18:25,290 or the the hero setting out with his 447 00:18:21,360 --> 00:18:26,670 companion yeah you know read the book as 448 00:18:25,290 --> 00:18:29,130 you should be to reread but the main 449 00:18:26,670 --> 00:18:30,510 thing the main thing there is that we 450 00:18:29,130 --> 00:18:32,970 get a real good description of the 451 00:18:30,510 --> 00:18:34,470 others or what we are assuming are the 452 00:18:32,970 --> 00:18:35,880 others well not even like now you can 453 00:18:34,470 --> 00:18:37,410 just see I think it's a long night it 454 00:18:35,880 --> 00:18:40,350 sounds like yeah right the fact that 455 00:18:37,410 --> 00:18:42,750 it's just brooding and it's it it 456 00:18:40,350 --> 00:18:44,300 doesn't target any one person like it's 457 00:18:42,750 --> 00:18:47,760 everyone everyone is starving 458 00:18:44,300 --> 00:18:49,980 everything's children yeah it doesn't 459 00:18:47,760 --> 00:18:50,490 discriminate against anyone and so he's 460 00:18:49,980 --> 00:18:53,370 terrifying 461 00:18:50,490 --> 00:18:58,920 and so that was definitely mentioned 462 00:18:53,370 --> 00:19:01,020 into the the one guy and so yeah that's 463 00:18:58,920 --> 00:19:04,920 it was super cool seeing him you know 464 00:19:01,020 --> 00:19:06,120 looking for the children and especially 465 00:19:04,920 --> 00:19:10,050 because it's gonna come up here again 466 00:19:06,120 --> 00:19:14,030 yeah yeah I love it how she's like 467 00:19:10,050 --> 00:19:16,680 getting in and she talks about the the 468 00:19:14,030 --> 00:19:17,880 scary shit and she's building up you 469 00:19:16,680 --> 00:19:20,010 could tell she's building up for that 470 00:19:17,880 --> 00:19:23,880 jump moment anyway yeah and then fucking 471 00:19:20,010 --> 00:19:26,010 Hodor and Louie yeah LuAnn is not 472 00:19:23,880 --> 00:19:27,960 smiling Hodor is all smiles cause that's 473 00:19:26,010 --> 00:19:29,490 Hodor and LuAnn tells bran that we have 474 00:19:27,960 --> 00:19:32,070 visitors in your presence is required 475 00:19:29,490 --> 00:19:34,140 brand and brand says but I'm listening 476 00:19:32,070 --> 00:19:35,850 to a story right now like a little kid 477 00:19:34,140 --> 00:19:36,840 you were just bitching about how you 478 00:19:35,850 --> 00:19:38,550 hate story 479 00:19:36,840 --> 00:19:41,130 well now it's one that he likes yeah and 480 00:19:38,550 --> 00:19:43,230 so this when old man says stories wait 481 00:19:41,130 --> 00:19:45,000 my little Lord and when you come back to 482 00:19:43,230 --> 00:19:47,160 them why there they are 483 00:19:45,000 --> 00:19:49,140 visitors are not so patient and off 484 00:19:47,160 --> 00:19:51,810 times they bring stories of their own 485 00:19:49,140 --> 00:19:53,770 like old and so is on some next-level 486 00:19:51,810 --> 00:19:55,630 shit and again I made an 487 00:19:53,770 --> 00:19:57,790 about that story that she just told 488 00:19:55,630 --> 00:19:59,890 where you mentioned that they're cold 489 00:19:57,790 --> 00:20:01,900 dead they're cold things dead things 490 00:19:59,890 --> 00:20:03,430 they hated fire all that shit and then 491 00:20:01,900 --> 00:20:05,980 it says and every they hated every 492 00:20:03,430 --> 00:20:09,250 creature with hot blood in its veins and 493 00:20:05,980 --> 00:20:11,340 that kind of almost makes me wonder if 494 00:20:09,250 --> 00:20:14,800 that's not some kind of a hint as to 495 00:20:11,340 --> 00:20:16,720 what they want is they just they hate 496 00:20:14,800 --> 00:20:18,610 all let me worry tripping me out you 497 00:20:16,720 --> 00:20:21,190 know I went back a bit I see that 498 00:20:18,610 --> 00:20:23,680 because there's so much in there's so 499 00:20:21,190 --> 00:20:26,130 much in there but I forget that I went 500 00:20:23,680 --> 00:20:29,440 over it and so I wanted to go to it 501 00:20:26,130 --> 00:20:31,330 before I forgot and so I just thought 502 00:20:29,440 --> 00:20:32,860 that that was crazy that like that might 503 00:20:31,330 --> 00:20:34,750 be a little hint as to just saying that 504 00:20:32,860 --> 00:20:38,260 they just want everybody dead that's not 505 00:20:34,750 --> 00:20:39,610 dead yeah but anyway Tyrion and the men 506 00:20:38,260 --> 00:20:42,720 of the Nights Watch are there and they 507 00:20:39,610 --> 00:20:45,190 are looking for entertainment from bran 508 00:20:42,720 --> 00:20:47,530 entertainment not in the gesture joking 509 00:20:45,190 --> 00:20:50,500 kind they just request his presence yeah 510 00:20:47,530 --> 00:20:52,300 Vava is meeting with him now Luminess 511 00:20:50,500 --> 00:20:55,330 todor to help ran downstairs and he does 512 00:20:52,300 --> 00:20:56,710 easily and it says that uh what are 513 00:20:55,330 --> 00:20:58,330 smiles faintly of horses but it's not 514 00:20:56,710 --> 00:21:01,420 really unpleasant and we learned that 515 00:20:58,330 --> 00:21:03,640 his real name is waldir yes and that no 516 00:21:01,420 --> 00:21:05,740 one knows where Hodor came from but when 517 00:21:03,640 --> 00:21:07,390 he started saying it everyone just kind 518 00:21:05,740 --> 00:21:10,360 of started calling him by it it was the 519 00:21:07,390 --> 00:21:13,000 only word he had it once again coming 520 00:21:10,360 --> 00:21:15,640 from old man yeah she's spitting out 521 00:21:13,000 --> 00:21:17,560 that truth and so like it's if she's if 522 00:21:15,640 --> 00:21:20,590 it's similar to how it plays in the in 523 00:21:17,560 --> 00:21:23,560 the show which you never know I could go 524 00:21:20,590 --> 00:21:26,080 way crazy sideways he he gets worked 525 00:21:23,560 --> 00:21:28,030 into as a kid and it makes you wonder if 526 00:21:26,080 --> 00:21:29,440 maybe old man's not there witnessing it 527 00:21:28,030 --> 00:21:31,990 and having some kind of idea as to 528 00:21:29,440 --> 00:21:35,230 what's actually occurring and so maybe 529 00:21:31,990 --> 00:21:37,810 she's woke as fuck like bran but who 530 00:21:35,230 --> 00:21:39,940 knows man it's it's wild but yeah so he 531 00:21:37,810 --> 00:21:41,530 just from that day on that that's all he 532 00:21:39,940 --> 00:21:45,580 could say so that's that's what they 533 00:21:41,530 --> 00:21:48,550 gave him as his name hold or carries 534 00:21:45,580 --> 00:21:53,110 carries him bran down into the Great 535 00:21:48,550 --> 00:21:55,090 Hall yeah and he as he enters bran can 536 00:21:53,110 --> 00:21:59,680 immediately feel the anger and the 537 00:21:55,090 --> 00:22:00,730 tension in the air yeah and it's Rob is 538 00:21:59,680 --> 00:22:03,570 up at the front 539 00:22:00,730 --> 00:22:05,350 talking to Tyrion yelling at Tyrion 540 00:22:03,570 --> 00:22:07,389 refusing him 541 00:22:05,350 --> 00:22:10,090 like no you're not welcome here the 542 00:22:07,389 --> 00:22:12,399 Nights Watch is perfectly allowed to 543 00:22:10,090 --> 00:22:14,620 stay here not a problem whatsoever but 544 00:22:12,399 --> 00:22:17,529 Lannister get the fuck out 545 00:22:14,620 --> 00:22:20,559 brando nurses too that rob has his sword 546 00:22:17,529 --> 00:22:22,570 unsheathed across his lap and even bran 547 00:22:20,559 --> 00:22:25,840 knows what it means to greet a guest 548 00:22:22,570 --> 00:22:29,200 with unsheath steel it's yeah rob is 549 00:22:25,840 --> 00:22:30,820 being pulled it's fuck here and tyrion 550 00:22:29,200 --> 00:22:34,029 picks up on it immediately any man of 551 00:22:30,820 --> 00:22:36,279 the Nights Watch but not me boy and Rob 552 00:22:34,029 --> 00:22:38,139 stands up getting pissed and see this is 553 00:22:36,279 --> 00:22:40,480 where we learn a lot that Rob is not 554 00:22:38,139 --> 00:22:43,330 good at these political situations he 555 00:22:40,480 --> 00:22:46,750 stands up in anger I am Lord here and 556 00:22:43,330 --> 00:22:48,429 I'm not your boy Lannister and Tyrion 557 00:22:46,750 --> 00:22:50,950 just says back if you're the Lord here 558 00:22:48,429 --> 00:22:53,470 you might learn a Lords courtesy it 559 00:22:50,950 --> 00:22:55,929 seems like your bastard brother got all 560 00:22:53,470 --> 00:22:57,820 of your father's graces yeah and that's 561 00:22:55,929 --> 00:22:58,990 when bran it's like oh shit John John 562 00:22:57,820 --> 00:23:01,240 John John 563 00:22:58,990 --> 00:23:02,799 and that's when Tyrion turns to take him 564 00:23:01,240 --> 00:23:05,019 in for the first time and he says oh it 565 00:23:02,799 --> 00:23:06,429 is true the boy lives and he makes the 566 00:23:05,019 --> 00:23:08,919 offhand comment that you Starks are hard 567 00:23:06,429 --> 00:23:11,649 to kill and Rob I can't jump shinu 568 00:23:08,919 --> 00:23:13,809 Lannister said best remember that you 569 00:23:11,649 --> 00:23:15,730 had enough good oh good yeah and so Rob 570 00:23:13,809 --> 00:23:17,769 tells Hodor to bring bran over to a 571 00:23:15,730 --> 00:23:20,320 woman Hodor does setting bran up in the 572 00:23:17,769 --> 00:23:22,840 high seat of the Starks where previous 573 00:23:20,320 --> 00:23:24,879 Lords and kings of Winterfell had sat 574 00:23:22,840 --> 00:23:26,889 and it kind of feels so significant to 575 00:23:24,879 --> 00:23:29,649 this and it's a really warrant a 576 00:23:26,889 --> 00:23:31,899 detailed carved chair and bran is kind 577 00:23:29,649 --> 00:23:34,049 of grasping the the two dire wolf heads 578 00:23:31,899 --> 00:23:36,759 that are carved on the end of the arms 579 00:23:34,049 --> 00:23:38,169 and it says that the great seat made him 580 00:23:36,759 --> 00:23:40,330 feel small like a baby 581 00:23:38,169 --> 00:23:43,000 and so Rob says you said you had 582 00:23:40,330 --> 00:23:44,710 business with bran begin a baby when 583 00:23:43,000 --> 00:23:46,570 Rickon was writing around out in the 584 00:23:44,710 --> 00:23:47,980 yard yeah it said that he was running on 585 00:23:46,570 --> 00:23:53,259 the hard-packed or I thought his little 586 00:23:47,980 --> 00:23:56,019 baby yeah baby yeah so he's a Rob you 587 00:23:53,259 --> 00:23:59,110 know again you you said you had business 588 00:23:56,019 --> 00:24:01,269 with my brother wall here yeah yeah and 589 00:23:59,110 --> 00:24:03,399 brand becomes uncomfortably aware of 590 00:24:01,269 --> 00:24:05,500 Tyrion sighs staring at him one was 591 00:24:03,399 --> 00:24:07,779 black one was Green and both were 592 00:24:05,500 --> 00:24:09,970 studying him and Tyrion says I hear 593 00:24:07,779 --> 00:24:11,620 you're quite the climber brand so how is 594 00:24:09,970 --> 00:24:13,809 it that you came to fall from that tower 595 00:24:11,620 --> 00:24:15,850 that day I really liked that that's the 596 00:24:13,809 --> 00:24:17,510 question he chooses and brand 597 00:24:15,850 --> 00:24:20,210 I never he is 598 00:24:17,510 --> 00:24:23,150 he's sinking I never fall never never 599 00:24:20,210 --> 00:24:24,620 never and Lewin speaks up saying that 600 00:24:23,150 --> 00:24:27,440 bran doesn't remember the fall or the 601 00:24:24,620 --> 00:24:34,250 climb before it and all tyrion says 602 00:24:27,440 --> 00:24:35,660 curious but Rob says bran isn't here to 603 00:24:34,250 --> 00:24:38,600 answer your questions do your business 604 00:24:35,660 --> 00:24:40,280 and be on your way and tyrion says i 605 00:24:38,600 --> 00:24:43,130 have a gift for you do you like to ride 606 00:24:40,280 --> 00:24:45,410 and again Lewin speaks up always the 607 00:24:43,130 --> 00:24:47,799 practical one the boys lost the use of 608 00:24:45,410 --> 00:24:50,660 his legs he cannot sit a horse and 609 00:24:47,799 --> 00:24:52,910 Tyrion would bomb with the right horse 610 00:24:50,660 --> 00:24:55,580 and the right saddle even a cripple can 611 00:24:52,910 --> 00:24:57,830 ride and this is I think exactly what 612 00:24:55,580 --> 00:24:59,600 John was looking for and if they weren't 613 00:24:57,830 --> 00:25:01,190 in front of a group of people he would 614 00:24:59,600 --> 00:25:03,590 have been able to go more into it yes 615 00:25:01,190 --> 00:25:05,870 cuz bran gets fucking pissed I'm not a 616 00:25:03,590 --> 00:25:09,710 cripple the word cripple was a knife to 617 00:25:05,870 --> 00:25:13,370 his heart he dreads it and hates this 618 00:25:09,710 --> 00:25:14,750 yeah it's yeah he immediately it's the 619 00:25:13,370 --> 00:25:17,450 first time he's actually hurted or you 620 00:25:14,750 --> 00:25:19,250 can I guess purring hole on earth at 621 00:25:17,450 --> 00:25:21,020 Winterfell was gonna you know all he's 622 00:25:19,250 --> 00:25:22,760 dealing with right now is old man so 623 00:25:21,020 --> 00:25:25,760 unless there's a cripple in the story 624 00:25:22,760 --> 00:25:27,110 and I doubt that's the stories he's 625 00:25:25,760 --> 00:25:28,429 looking to tell so this is the first 626 00:25:27,110 --> 00:25:29,900 time he's here I think it's the first 627 00:25:28,429 --> 00:25:32,570 time he's dealing with it so I think 628 00:25:29,900 --> 00:25:34,070 it's just yeah it's just brutal he 629 00:25:32,570 --> 00:25:37,250 didn't actually maybe you didn't even 630 00:25:34,070 --> 00:25:40,400 think of it it didn't occur to ya but 631 00:25:37,250 --> 00:25:42,350 yeah that's when Tyrians like if you're 632 00:25:40,400 --> 00:25:45,049 not a cripple that I'm not a dwarf 633 00:25:42,350 --> 00:25:49,299 and my father will be thrilled to hear 634 00:25:45,049 --> 00:25:54,770 that Dan gradually laughs at that whoo I 635 00:25:49,299 --> 00:25:58,429 didn't think yeah okay so Rob is he's 636 00:25:54,770 --> 00:25:59,450 confused because like well teeing it 637 00:25:58,429 --> 00:26:00,919 like goes into it he's like you gotta 638 00:25:59,450 --> 00:26:03,830 shape the horse to the rider start with 639 00:26:00,919 --> 00:26:05,750 a young young filly and teach it to 640 00:26:03,830 --> 00:26:09,500 respond to his reins into the void and 641 00:26:05,750 --> 00:26:11,000 to his voice not you know just the legs 642 00:26:09,500 --> 00:26:12,740 and the kicks and he pulls out this 643 00:26:11,000 --> 00:26:14,299 rolled paper from his belt and he tells 644 00:26:12,740 --> 00:26:17,090 him give this to your Saddler he'll do 645 00:26:14,299 --> 00:26:18,679 the rest and so this is when Lewin takes 646 00:26:17,090 --> 00:26:20,870 the paper right he's looking at old and 647 00:26:18,679 --> 00:26:22,669 brand just know it said he's curious as 648 00:26:20,870 --> 00:26:24,160 a small gray squirrel which I think it's 649 00:26:22,669 --> 00:26:25,660 always interesting that luhan's 650 00:26:24,160 --> 00:26:28,360 getting compared to like small gray rats 651 00:26:25,660 --> 00:26:29,830 and squirrels but uh kind of makes you 652 00:26:28,360 --> 00:26:31,840 think of because I know that there's 653 00:26:29,830 --> 00:26:36,760 been a lot of comparisons drawn to touch 654 00:26:31,840 --> 00:26:39,330 a Chippendale not rescue ages not 655 00:26:36,760 --> 00:26:41,950 Chippendale oh I was going to say 656 00:26:39,330 --> 00:26:44,500 Ragnarok in that kind of Mythology oh 657 00:26:41,950 --> 00:26:46,390 okay the World Tree 658 00:26:44,500 --> 00:26:50,590 Yggdrasil I think is the name of it 659 00:26:46,390 --> 00:26:51,910 there's a squirrel rat like figure that 660 00:26:50,590 --> 00:26:55,270 runs along its branches now your 661 00:26:51,910 --> 00:26:58,630 messages ratatoskr Oh actually that 662 00:26:55,270 --> 00:27:01,390 maybe that's so he think he brings like 663 00:26:58,630 --> 00:27:03,550 messages from the upper branches of the 664 00:27:01,390 --> 00:27:04,900 world tree down to the under roots and 665 00:27:03,550 --> 00:27:06,280 shit like that but it's been a while 666 00:27:04,900 --> 00:27:07,690 since I've read that kind of mythology 667 00:27:06,280 --> 00:27:12,640 so well LuAnn says that this ought to 668 00:27:07,690 --> 00:27:14,080 work and tyrion tyrion says well and he 669 00:27:12,640 --> 00:27:16,060 says you know this is this is pretty 670 00:27:14,080 --> 00:27:18,220 smart like you you draw good like this 671 00:27:16,060 --> 00:27:19,330 is a clever design and tyrion says yeah 672 00:27:18,220 --> 00:27:22,630 it was pretty easy for me to design 673 00:27:19,330 --> 00:27:25,150 since it's not too unlike my own which i 674 00:27:22,630 --> 00:27:27,250 think is very telling you know like yeah 675 00:27:25,150 --> 00:27:30,430 tyrion it's kind of aware of how to live 676 00:27:27,250 --> 00:27:32,380 this lifestyle while still being stunted 677 00:27:30,430 --> 00:27:34,050 and we forget that sometimes he's so 678 00:27:32,380 --> 00:27:37,300 clever and everything but he is 679 00:27:34,050 --> 00:27:38,920 technically deformed as far as this 680 00:27:37,300 --> 00:27:41,350 world is well and that's it and so most 681 00:27:38,920 --> 00:27:43,300 dwarfs don't have that highlord status 682 00:27:41,350 --> 00:27:45,160 and so they're not going to be riding 683 00:27:43,300 --> 00:27:47,410 horses yeah no I'm going to have yeah 684 00:27:45,160 --> 00:27:49,600 you become crippled or handicapped or 685 00:27:47,410 --> 00:27:51,820 you're at or your life is pretty much 686 00:27:49,600 --> 00:27:54,100 fucked unless you fight and grovel and 687 00:27:51,820 --> 00:27:56,770 you can't just go to the stables and 688 00:27:54,100 --> 00:27:59,260 purchase a saddle that's his size and so 689 00:27:56,770 --> 00:28:00,340 this is almost and and it's awful cuz 690 00:27:59,260 --> 00:28:02,320 like I don't want to make light of it 691 00:28:00,340 --> 00:28:05,110 but bran did just lose his legs but it's 692 00:28:02,320 --> 00:28:09,790 almost again the thing that John had 693 00:28:05,110 --> 00:28:12,490 where you're still a lord crippled like 694 00:28:09,790 --> 00:28:15,220 you will still have way more options 695 00:28:12,490 --> 00:28:17,950 than any other person could ever hope to 696 00:28:15,220 --> 00:28:19,990 in this world as far as use of your legs 697 00:28:17,950 --> 00:28:21,430 again because you're not a small folk if 698 00:28:19,990 --> 00:28:23,200 it was some small folk out in the field 699 00:28:21,430 --> 00:28:26,290 who's like broken they'd probably either 700 00:28:23,200 --> 00:28:28,720 if he's not dead then he's stuck in the 701 00:28:26,290 --> 00:28:30,130 house probably just sitting in bed for 702 00:28:28,720 --> 00:28:31,840 the rest of his day like there aren't 703 00:28:30,130 --> 00:28:33,010 these many options for people so the 704 00:28:31,840 --> 00:28:36,220 higher up the chain you go 705 00:28:33,010 --> 00:28:37,660 so it's this yeah and it's I mean Prince 706 00:28:36,220 --> 00:28:41,250 eight years old so he's of 707 00:28:37,660 --> 00:28:44,110 horse not gonna look at what he has 708 00:28:41,250 --> 00:28:45,880 absolutely but he wants to believe he'll 709 00:28:44,110 --> 00:28:47,590 be able to ride again but he fears 710 00:28:45,880 --> 00:28:49,960 another lie like the crow who promised 711 00:28:47,590 --> 00:28:53,280 you to lie Rob gets he's confused as 712 00:28:49,960 --> 00:28:55,960 shit to the whole situation because like 713 00:28:53,280 --> 00:28:58,090 why are you being nice like what is the 714 00:28:55,960 --> 00:29:01,090 purpose of all this a trick and he's 715 00:28:58,090 --> 00:29:04,150 like you know what no basically he tells 716 00:29:01,090 --> 00:29:07,420 him to just fuck off he's like John told 717 00:29:04,150 --> 00:29:12,430 me asked me a favor yeah and I like John 718 00:29:07,420 --> 00:29:14,370 so I'm fulfilling my dad yeah and once 719 00:29:12,430 --> 00:29:17,230 he gets that through to his head 720 00:29:14,370 --> 00:29:20,080 Rickon I believe well he also says that 721 00:29:17,230 --> 00:29:21,700 he has a tender spot oh yeah for little 722 00:29:20,080 --> 00:29:23,860 bastards and broken thing I mean that's 723 00:29:21,700 --> 00:29:26,830 like the Tyrian quote of Tyrion quotes 724 00:29:23,860 --> 00:29:29,890 he yeah he knows what it's like so he 725 00:29:26,830 --> 00:29:31,570 sympathizes with brand definitely and he 726 00:29:29,890 --> 00:29:33,100 puts I think that part is funny after he 727 00:29:31,570 --> 00:29:35,020 finishes that line he puts a hand over 728 00:29:33,100 --> 00:29:37,120 his heart and he grins at them and just 729 00:29:35,020 --> 00:29:39,760 sort of this in bish and i love it it's 730 00:29:37,120 --> 00:29:42,730 like him embracing his Rob's 731 00:29:39,760 --> 00:29:45,460 uncomfortableness he can see how off-put 732 00:29:42,730 --> 00:29:46,690 rob is but yeah the door slams open and 733 00:29:45,460 --> 00:29:48,610 here comes Rick on with the direwolf 734 00:29:46,690 --> 00:29:50,500 just charged chugging forward like a 735 00:29:48,610 --> 00:29:53,740 little fucking tank but he stops 736 00:29:50,500 --> 00:29:55,750 wide-eyed when he sees that sort of 737 00:29:53,740 --> 00:29:57,820 Court is in session here but the wolves 738 00:29:55,750 --> 00:30:00,760 keep coming and they're growling at 739 00:29:57,820 --> 00:30:02,320 Tyrion and we got some er first and then 740 00:30:00,760 --> 00:30:05,050 gray wind is following after and they 741 00:30:02,320 --> 00:30:06,270 pad up toward Tyrion one on the left and 742 00:30:05,050 --> 00:30:11,050 one on the right and they are not 743 00:30:06,270 --> 00:30:14,740 fucking pleased and Tyrion goes to sort 744 00:30:11,050 --> 00:30:16,860 of pull back as he's thinking it's time 745 00:30:14,740 --> 00:30:20,260 to take his leave and shaggy-dog comes 746 00:30:16,860 --> 00:30:23,170 jumping out of the shadows Adam lunging 747 00:30:20,260 --> 00:30:24,850 at him snarling and summer goes at him 748 00:30:23,170 --> 00:30:26,230 and then grey worm goes at his harm and 749 00:30:24,850 --> 00:30:27,490 grey worm actually manages to get a 750 00:30:26,230 --> 00:30:31,420 little bit of his arm and tear some 751 00:30:27,490 --> 00:30:33,190 fabric loose and the Lannister men start 752 00:30:31,420 --> 00:30:37,510 reaching for their steel and brand 753 00:30:33,190 --> 00:30:40,120 starts vehemently screaming no no like 754 00:30:37,510 --> 00:30:42,340 summer come back come back and summer 755 00:30:40,120 --> 00:30:44,430 glances at brand and back at Tyrion and 756 00:30:42,340 --> 00:30:46,930 then slowly starts to creep backward 757 00:30:44,430 --> 00:30:49,270 until he's chilling out under branch 758 00:30:46,930 --> 00:30:50,650 dangling feet yeah and then he tells the 759 00:30:49,270 --> 00:30:53,410 others to call their wolves 760 00:30:50,650 --> 00:30:55,090 and Rob calls gray wind yeah Brando's 761 00:30:53,410 --> 00:30:57,520 has Robin been holding his breath and 762 00:30:55,090 --> 00:30:59,410 yeah he calls me run over to him who 763 00:30:57,520 --> 00:31:01,750 moves over a swift and silent and then 764 00:30:59,410 --> 00:31:03,460 Bryn shouts - Rickon to call shaggy dog 765 00:31:01,750 --> 00:31:05,140 which I think it's interesting when Rick 766 00:31:03,460 --> 00:31:08,230 Otton calls him he says shaggy dog home 767 00:31:05,140 --> 00:31:10,540 home which I I don't know if that's 768 00:31:08,230 --> 00:31:12,310 significant runs to his saw yeah that is 769 00:31:10,540 --> 00:31:15,730 he said he's associated themselves 770 00:31:12,310 --> 00:31:18,610 alright and so why do you think this 771 00:31:15,730 --> 00:31:20,770 happened because this Superjail you 100% 772 00:31:18,610 --> 00:31:23,530 was I was really confused at first it's 773 00:31:20,770 --> 00:31:25,270 because so Rickon is the one that's 774 00:31:23,530 --> 00:31:27,370 entering with the wolves all been 775 00:31:25,270 --> 00:31:28,660 playing with him and I think that all 776 00:31:27,370 --> 00:31:30,280 the wolves have connections with the 777 00:31:28,660 --> 00:31:32,920 Starks they at least you know are 778 00:31:30,280 --> 00:31:35,920 willing to listen to them and so Rickon 779 00:31:32,920 --> 00:31:39,010 enters this thing sees clearly sees rob 780 00:31:35,920 --> 00:31:41,680 pissed confused angry a lannister 781 00:31:39,010 --> 00:31:44,410 standing right there everybody's kind of 782 00:31:41,680 --> 00:31:48,010 all just now going at odds so he freaks 783 00:31:44,410 --> 00:31:50,050 out and so it's just a thing of emotions 784 00:31:48,010 --> 00:31:52,630 Robb is still getting over anger all 785 00:31:50,050 --> 00:31:55,210 that shit cuz I don't know why anything 786 00:31:52,630 --> 00:31:56,440 would go after Tyrion he's not yeah 787 00:31:55,210 --> 00:31:58,870 that's what I mean coast was fine with 788 00:31:56,440 --> 00:32:00,130 him after the initial meeting and so 789 00:31:58,870 --> 00:32:02,430 really to me it's just that they're 790 00:32:00,130 --> 00:32:05,290 picking up on the emotions they saw that 791 00:32:02,430 --> 00:32:08,380 what's-his-face Rob was a little upset 792 00:32:05,290 --> 00:32:10,180 and then rat upset Rick on shaggy-dog is 793 00:32:08,380 --> 00:32:12,280 a little more less tame than the other 794 00:32:10,180 --> 00:32:13,780 yeah so seeing that Rick Khan's upset 795 00:32:12,280 --> 00:32:15,460 whatever the reason that's the person 796 00:32:13,780 --> 00:32:18,190 causing the upset I'm gonna go scare the 797 00:32:15,460 --> 00:32:21,790 fuck out of it I guess but I don't know 798 00:32:18,190 --> 00:32:24,130 otherwise Terrence fucking shook his 799 00:32:21,790 --> 00:32:26,080 pants are a little damper and he just 800 00:32:24,130 --> 00:32:28,270 says how how interesting to the whole 801 00:32:26,080 --> 00:32:29,620 thing one of his men asks him if he was 802 00:32:28,270 --> 00:32:32,260 harmed and he said nothing was harm 803 00:32:29,620 --> 00:32:35,200 saved my dignity and even Rob looks 804 00:32:32,260 --> 00:32:36,940 shaking brand notices and he's kind of 805 00:32:35,200 --> 00:32:40,060 stutters out that I I don't know why the 806 00:32:36,940 --> 00:32:42,130 Wolves did that and so Tyrion paused 807 00:32:40,060 --> 00:32:44,950 stiffly to brand and says I thank you 808 00:32:42,130 --> 00:32:48,130 for calling them off young lord I'll be 809 00:32:44,950 --> 00:32:49,510 taking my leave now and LuAnn I think it 810 00:32:48,130 --> 00:32:53,050 has anything to do with like lady 811 00:32:49,510 --> 00:32:54,160 getting killed I I don't know because I 812 00:32:53,050 --> 00:32:55,900 makes me wonder if maybe it had 813 00:32:54,160 --> 00:32:58,630 something to do with something not going 814 00:32:55,900 --> 00:33:00,190 on there at Winterfell instead but yeah 815 00:32:58,630 --> 00:33:02,410 I'm not yeah the whole thing had me 816 00:33:00,190 --> 00:33:03,629 confused but LuAnn asked Tyrion to wait 817 00:33:02,410 --> 00:33:04,649 a minute and 818 00:33:03,629 --> 00:33:06,690 robbed sort of huddled together 819 00:33:04,649 --> 00:33:08,460 whispering and bran tries to hear but 820 00:33:06,690 --> 00:33:11,489 it's they're talking to quiet quietly 821 00:33:08,460 --> 00:33:13,049 and Rob turns and finally heshes a sort 822 00:33:11,489 --> 00:33:13,830 of and says I may have been too hasty 823 00:33:13,049 --> 00:33:17,309 yeah 824 00:33:13,830 --> 00:33:18,960 now he finally smartened some shit yeah 825 00:33:17,309 --> 00:33:20,729 and he said you you've done brain a 826 00:33:18,960 --> 00:33:22,440 kindness and the hospitality of 827 00:33:20,729 --> 00:33:24,539 Winterfell is yours if you wish it 828 00:33:22,440 --> 00:33:26,700 Lannister and Tyrion is like fuck you 829 00:33:24,539 --> 00:33:29,489 yes spare me your false courtesies boy 830 00:33:26,700 --> 00:33:31,019 like you don't want me here there's an 831 00:33:29,489 --> 00:33:33,269 inn outside of your walls I saw on the 832 00:33:31,019 --> 00:33:37,200 way and I'll find a bed there and both 833 00:33:33,269 --> 00:33:39,179 of us can sleep fucking easier so and so 834 00:33:37,200 --> 00:33:40,830 Tyrion turns to your and tells them that 835 00:33:39,179 --> 00:33:42,659 they ride at daybreak and that he can 836 00:33:40,830 --> 00:33:44,669 probably find him on the road and then 837 00:33:42,659 --> 00:33:46,950 yeah and then tyrion bounces and Robb 838 00:33:44,669 --> 00:33:48,179 invites awkwardly invites the Nights 839 00:33:46,950 --> 00:33:50,309 Watch to dinner offers and the 840 00:33:48,179 --> 00:33:52,859 courtesies as opposed to but even again 841 00:33:50,309 --> 00:33:54,570 even brand can pick up that it seems 842 00:33:52,859 --> 00:33:57,419 like it's a rehearse yeah it's not 843 00:33:54,570 --> 00:33:59,070 anything heartfelt or like he cares or 844 00:33:57,419 --> 00:34:01,339 mean yeah it was a speech he had learned 845 00:33:59,070 --> 00:34:03,330 not words from the heart it had said and 846 00:34:01,339 --> 00:34:05,549 but the black brother sang him all the 847 00:34:03,330 --> 00:34:07,889 same and you know retired for the 848 00:34:05,549 --> 00:34:11,039 evening and summer follows him and Hodor 849 00:34:07,889 --> 00:34:13,740 Hodor carries bran back up the bed old 850 00:34:11,039 --> 00:34:15,720 man's pass out in the chair so Hodor 851 00:34:13,740 --> 00:34:17,549 sets bran in the bed gathers her up and 852 00:34:15,720 --> 00:34:19,139 carries her sleeping from the room and 853 00:34:17,549 --> 00:34:21,480 bran just lays there kind of thinking 854 00:34:19,139 --> 00:34:22,889 and he remembers that Robb had promised 855 00:34:21,480 --> 00:34:24,270 he could feast with the night's watchman 856 00:34:22,889 --> 00:34:25,679 tonight in the Great Hall so he's kind 857 00:34:24,270 --> 00:34:28,740 of excited about that you know so he 858 00:34:25,679 --> 00:34:33,000 calls summer up onto the bed and hugs 859 00:34:28,740 --> 00:34:35,789 him tight cuddly yeah puppy dog and then 860 00:34:33,000 --> 00:34:38,129 he falls asleep and hands well he he as 861 00:34:35,789 --> 00:34:39,779 he's hugging summer he says I can run 862 00:34:38,129 --> 00:34:42,329 and I'm gonna read the quote says I can 863 00:34:39,779 --> 00:34:44,339 ride now he whispered to his friend we 864 00:34:42,329 --> 00:34:47,879 can go hunting in the woods soon wait 865 00:34:44,339 --> 00:34:49,679 and see like I I don't think it's 866 00:34:47,879 --> 00:34:52,079 significant I mean one he'll be hunting 867 00:34:49,679 --> 00:34:54,480 through summer in the woods soon which

In the distant future there is only THE GAME. Do you have what it takes to pulverize all the other mutants, magical girls, cyborgs, and wasteoidz? Can you master the ballz?Enter: Ballmastrz: 9009, the new series from Superjail's Christy Karacas. Whereas Superjail's animation drank deep from the acid-laced waters of 60s and 70s Western animation, this new series pulls heavy from the anime well. But of course, that's not all. There's also Jodorowsky, giallo films, every dystopian sports project ever, and other peculiar pop culture ephemera in the mix. Join Cap for a conversation with Karacas about his anime influences, the possible future of Superjail, and how Ballmastrz is different from anything he's done before. Nerdland was produced by Adult Swim production powerhouse Titmouse Inc., the group of animators responsible for creating some of the most revolutionary cartoons to have been featured on television ever. These guys made the contemporary classics Black Dynamite, China, IL, Metalocalypse, Superjail! and The Venture Brothers, which everyone should check out if only for their sheer abrasive creativity. The same can be said for Nerdland; the script, penned by Se7en screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker, contributes a little extra insanity. The film is certainly not for everyone (at one point you get a little too acquainted with one of the protagonist's buttholes), but it is one of the most unique films you will see all year. No Film School's Jon Fusco sat down with Mr. Walker and Chris Prynoski, head honcho at Titmouse, who was so stricken by the script that he requested to direct the film. We discussed how the director and writer's collaboration should be so seamless that the audience shouldn't be sure who's responsible for what in the final cut.
Chester Knebel calls Jeff from a wind-storm struck cabin to talk about his career in animation. He tells stories of working on the TV shows SUPERJAIL, UGLY AMERICANS, GOLAN THE INSATIABLE, and a shit ton more projects. They nerd out about EC Comics artists, Jeff's rants about tsunamis, and much more. Augenblick Studios Official Website This episode's music - "Tyranny" by Infinite Alliance. Why doesn't Adult Swim seem to work outside of the United States? Does it just not translate anywhere culturally? Or is it because of corporate politics? Karl Olson (Ultraklystron) returns along with animation storyboarder Corey Barnes (who's worked on Archer, China IL, Superjail! and Axe Cop) to mull over why the subversive network has such a hard time gaining traction in international markets. We also talk about Spider Riders. 4:20 - Anime Revolution and some lessons in Spider Riders nostalgia 12:00 - All about Adult Swim

BEST MARTES EVER!. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/kafelog/message
