These benefits have been shown to follow students throughout their lives as they pursue further education and rewarding careers. To this end, Tim and Asheesh return for the fourth time to the podcast. This time, they focus on the unique benefits available to teachers and coordinators due to the modified evaluation methods employed during the pandemic. One big takeaway - utilize the enquiry upon results (EUR) option to look at your internal assessments. It's a benefit that will pay dividends for years to come.IBSchoolImprovement.comIB Matters website

Retailers learned many lessons in 2020 relating to the “new” in-store experience. This knowledge now shines the light on what’s to come regarding inventory accuracy, flexible fulfillment, and more trends. Sharing thoughts on these subjects and the role of technology is Tim Kane, Retail Solutions Consultant for North America, Zebra Technologies. Zebra supports retailers with devices and solutions for inventory, fulfillment, operations, the customer experience, and analytics.“The biggest lesson learned from 2020 is how quickly retailers could respond. In early March, when the pandemic was becoming a reality, retailers made immediate changes associated with digitizing. One customer advised me they had made 147 operational changes from March to May, and that’s incredible,” Kane said. With the acceleration of adaption and technology growth, analytics becomes more vital for retailers. “There’s so much more data to capture than just POS. There are shelf cameras and robotics that can capture data and feed it to a machine learning engine. It can then send tasks to store managers and associates about inventory gaps,” Kane explained. These new tools are elevating the role of store associates. They can focus on more high-level work, while technology automates simple, repetitive tasks. That’s especially beneficial for grocery stores. Customers can use devices to scan products themselves and pay for a frictionless experience. Associates can use them to pick and process orders. “The technology can also track when the customer is nearing the store for pickup when they arrive, and what spot they’re in; all creating a positive experience at curbside,” Kane explained.Micro-fulfillment for grocery is becoming very sophisticated, learning on technology, as well. “The most expensive parts of online grocery are the labor to pick and the delivery. Now grocery stores are automating this with robotics. They are then partnering with delivery services to reduce costs but meet customers where they are.”Listen to Previous Episodes of Retail Refined Right Here!

What do retailers need to do to successfully blend their online and offline experiences? How will mobile solutions factor into the retail stores of the future? Today’s guest is Tim Kane, retail solutions consultant at Zebra Technologies, and he joins the podcast today to discuss the changes that are happening in the retail space. Listen in to hear what Tim has to say about changes that retailers should make as customers come back to stores post-pandemic, how retailers make decisions about brick and mortar solutions, and how retailers can best utilize labor. Topics Discussed in Today’s Episode: ✔ What Zebra Technologies is all about ✔ Biggest changes that Tim has seen in customer behavior ✔ Whether online shopping behavior will stay the same or change post-pandemic ✔ Changes that retailers should make as customers come back to the stores ✔ General advice to retailers for combining online and offline experiences ✔ Example of a retailer experience that Tim really likes ✔ Three characteristics of customer profile that represents today’s brick and mortar retail store ✔ How to analyze and make a decision about brick and mortar solutions ✔ What retailers should be thinking about in their locations of the future ✔ Technologies that were adopted faster than Tim expected ✔ How retailers can best utilize labor ✔ Places Tim recommends visiting in Boston Resources: Tim Kane QUOTES: “I think that we’re going to see a significant stickiness to online – if that’s going to end up being 20%, 25%, who knows – but that still means 75% of the shoppers are going to go to stores.” “The advice that we try to give them is be as consistent as you can be. So try to make sure that your brand is represented online the same way you would want to have it represented when you get to the store.” “If you go to the store a couple of times and you don’t find your product, you’ll find another store, or you’ll just go online for that product going forward.”

In other words, they show teachers and coordinators how to significantly improve Diploma scores. They are both experienced IB teachers with a long track record of doing just that and Asheesh worked for the IB Organization as the former directer of their Access, Equity and Excellence project. Tim was a consultant on that project. For both Asheesh and Tim this is an Equity issue. In their research, under represented students often don’t choose Diploma courses because they think they aren’t prepared, that they won’t succeed, or that the courses will leave them with no personal life. Asheesh and Tim have developed a set of strategies that improve success for all students in the DP courses. As a result they began an organization called IB School Improvement.com so they can share their expertise with others. Dr. Tim Kane speaks to CDI’s Dan Grazier about his recommendations to modernize the Pentagon’s antiquated personnel system. No other issue has the potential to fundamentally reform the military than optimizing the way the Pentagon manages the men and women in uniform. Yet little has been done to update a system which has roots deeply set in early industrial age concepts of management science from more than a century ago. Military personnel today are treated by the Pentagon’s bureaucracy as little more than interchangeable cogs in the machine. Dr. Tim Kane, an economist with the Hoover Institution, has written and spoken widely on the need to modernize the Pentagon’s personnel practices. He has recently published a report detailing his recommendations and the necessary steps to ensure the military has the most effective force possible.
