“Devi ASSOLUTAMENTE andarci”. Ok. “No, dico davvero!”E allora vado. A few of you might not be familiar with the music genre Totalism, It emerged in the '80s and '90s as a response to minimalism and adds a rebellious twist. It's not afraid to mix things up and throw in a bunch of different musical styles. You might hear echoes of jazz, world music, and who knows what else in there. But here's the thing – it's not always smooth and pretty. Totalism can be a bit rough around the edges. It might mess with your expectations, throwing in unexpected twists and turns. It's rebellious, eclectic. What's not to love

Welcome to Season 3 Episode 31, where we cover the Prologue through Chapter 1 of Blue Lily, Lily Blue! Shannon starts off this season totally subdued and not at all excited to be covering BLLB… YAH RIGHT! We kick off the first two chapters of Blue Lily, Lily Blue reintroducing the characters, their quest, and a bottomless pit. Who really is the MacGuffin in this book? How many pages of a novel could possibly take place only in a cave? How many Deep Dive pages did Shannon have to delete about animals, and how many did Nievita delete about ghosts? Actually, I don't think we answer any of those questions, but we do talk about the topics of crappy highschool poetry, why Sassy Adam is the Best Adam, who is Nievita's BROTP of the Raven Cycle, how to tell a jig from a reel, how incredibly gross humans can be (SO GROSS), and reiterate, “When in doubt, always blame Niall.” If you have read Call Down The Hawk, stick around after the stinger for our new SPOILER ZONE! As regular listeners know, food is one of GamerDude's favorite subjects. This week, he talks about meal time, and how his mother's homemade biscuits were part of many of the meals he had while growing up. He talks about the biscuit as a side dish, and as the base for his mother's homemade strawberry shortcake. He talks about his struggles trying to learn how to make good biscuits on his own, and how his early efforts were little more than baked hockey pucks. He also talks about how he discovered the secret ingredient to good biscuits: White Lily Self-Rising Flour, which is only available in the Southern US. He talks about ordering a bag of White Lily through Amazon, and the delicious biscuits that resulted. GamerDude also shares the recipe off the bag of White Lily, and walks you through how to make good biscuits. GamerDude also talks about how he learned how to make chili. Once he discovered what seasoning was, and how it made everything tastier, learning how to make chili was the natural result. He talks about the different styles of chili, and the different meats you can use in it. He then gives you his recipe for a basic, relatively mild chili that you can modify to make as hot and spicy as you like, and walks you through how to make it.
Our heroes accept an invitation to a hot meal at Hammond’s Orphanage. Hammond seems to know far more than a normal orphan caregiver, who is he really, and is he here to help or hurt? Find out on this episode of Paper Pencil Dice!
In this episode we discuss the new type of mission: Fixed-Party Trials. We absolutely love these missions for multiple reasons: the accessibility, the exposure for new units, the exposure for new team compositions, and especially the showcasing of featured units. This is a significantly better way to put new units on display for the world because it shows you both how they can fit into a team as well as allowing you to fully access their kit in an end-game content type trial. We both find these missions super fun and hope they will continue to make them regularly. We also give a quick review of CG Dark Fina (White Lily Dark Fina) and how poorly named her abilities are in english... Brown Demise ... seriously guys? The bakers chat with Angela Garbacz, a member of the Bake from Scratch 2019 Baker’s Dozen and founder and head baker of Goldenrod Pastries in Lincoln, Nebraska. Angela dishes on her philosophy on inclusive baking, her way of baking treats that keep it sweet but also cater to those with allergies and dietary restrictions, and figuring out how to make her famous gluten-free sweet rolls. Plus, she shares some of the positive energy that baking unlocks, like her inspiring program Empower Through Flour. Brian also talks up his favorite new way to use his muffin tin: babka knots. Then we’re diving into our new nostalgia-packed cookbook, The Cookie Collection, and our excitement for the big National Biscuit Month blowout and how White Lily flour helps us make the most tender biscuits. Finally, we finish on a feel-good note and recap how our Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry went! Quote: “In the end, I just wanted to feed people. There were so many people left out of the conversation and felt embarrassed to explain their allergies. And I thought, ‘We’re going to find a way to feed you.’” A special thank-you to our sponsor, Red Star, our official test kitchen partner and trusted source for all things yeast. When we got word that a biscuit expert was in attendance at the International Symposium on Bread, we knew we needed to sit down for a conversation about flour, butter, and yeast! Karl Worley shares tips on making the perfect biscuit – one that can hold up when making the fried chicken sandwich that’s popular at his Nashville restaurant, Biscuit Love. He also shares some news about his forthcoming pizza restaurant and gives us a peek into the Local, Ancient, and Heirlooms Grains workshop at the On The Rise 3. Chef Karl Worley grew up in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, where he learned to cook from his grandfather in Bristol, Tennessee. He received his culinary degree from Johnson & Wales University in 2010. After spending time in the kitchens of Rioja in Denver, he further developed his passion for sustainable agriculture and farm-to-table restaurants while working for the Coon Rock Farm in Hillsborough, NC. Through sourcing top quality seasonal ingredients, he is known for creating delicious dishes that honor the deep-rooted traditions of the South. HRN On Tour is powered by Simplecast.

DEEP DIVE: Cave Systems of Appalachia (from approx. the 36:42 minute mark to 54:38, depending on your player) SPOILER ZONE: Call Down The Hawk Spoiler Discussion starts at approx. 1:34:02 CORRECTION: Nievita stated from memory that Blue Lily, Lily Blue was originally titled “The White Lily”.
