Howard Martin from the Heart Math Institute joined us today. He's the author of Heart Intelligence: Connecting with the Intuitive Guidance of the Heart as well as The HeartMath Solution: The Institute of HeartMath's Revolutionary Program for Engaging the Power of the Heart's Intelligence. He's also one of the main people behind the EMWave which is a device where you can regain your heart resonance. I've used it and it's really quite impressive. I share more about that during the show. But the Emwave is a great device to tell you when you're in stress or not. And many times we don't feel when we're in stress but we are. In today's show with Howard Martin we talked about living from the heart instead of the brain or mind. Our culture is addicted and obsessed with science, rational and logic, which are all good things. But I feel we are way out of balance. We are dominated more by how we think, what other people think and fear of making wrong choices that we are disconnected from our heart. Our gut instinct or some people call it intuition has been severed and we no longer trust our own gut for making decisions. It's my contention that we already know what choices to make. Deep down within ourselves we know which direction to take. But we trust the opinions of others. We crunch numbers. We rely on science and advice from other people rather than follow our own hearts. It's this disconnection which keeps us slaves to seeking the approval of others. Howard Martin talks about how this disconnection can be fixed and what we can do in order to live more full, honest and authentic lives. As I said during the show, my belief is that we must start with turning off outside influences that don't serve us. We must stand strong in our convictions and do what we know we should be doing. It all starts with no longer listening to what other people have to say about our lives. It's only when we can silence the voice and opinion of others can we begin to hear what that voice deep within us is saying. It's soft voice but it gets drowned out by ever other person giving us their thoughts and opinions because we ask for it. We're afraid of making big scary decisions that go against the advice of others. All of this causes unnecessary stress to our bodies. I believe that all disease is caused by stress. How do we learn to turn down the volume of other people's opinions while turning up the volume to our own hearts? Today I want to talk about how it is basically impossible to do parenting “right”... someone will always judge you, call you out for something, and try to make you feel as though you are doing it wrong! It's rough to be a parent and now with social media and the like, there is a lot of judgement and people telling you that you are doing it wrong and should be doing it this way or that way. Ugh! Our job as parents is to keep our kiddos safe, let them know that they are loved beyond words, and to teach them to be amazing human beings that are capable of going out into the world independently. With that said, what the heck is the “right” way to parent? I am no parenting expert- except that I am a parent, but in my opinion, the right way to parent is how you parent. Unless you are physically and/or mentally abusing your children, not providing them basic needs, and the like, you are doing alright! Do you ask for help? If not, you should! I am totally guilty of not asking for help, so today I wanted to dive in and give you permission to ask!! How will we ever get anywhere when we aren't willing to ask for help? Most of my life I've been afraid to ask the questions or seek guidance because I don't want to put people out or feel stupid, so I muddle along on my own and figure it out. In hindsight, things would have gone a lot easier and faster had I just asked for some help or asked questions. There are people out there who WANT to help you! You have to be open to receiving or it will never happen! My lot in life is to help other people, but how am I able to do that efficiently and with more ease without seeking answers on my end? In this episode: What To Do A Father Who Chooses Their Girlfriend Over Their ChildBUT as frustrating as it is I certainly do not want you single moms out there to fall apart or to get so angry and/or frustrated that you say or do something that is going to make you look like a fool. But I do get it. Because as a mom who would do anything for your child you don’t understand why a man chooses other people over their own flesh and blood, how can he be such a deadbeat dad, and how can he not see what pain it is causing the child. I do not know what makes fathers choose their girlfriend over their own child so I cannot give you an insight into why they do it. It’s somewhat of a continuation of yesterday’s episode. So have you channeled your inner ROCK Star yet, my dear? You’ve heard me say, time and time again… If you desire to heal it, you must feel it. Period. Acknowledge your feelings, no matter what. But what do you when your feelings don’t support what you desire? You channel your “inner child” for a moment. Acknowledge your feelings, by feeling them. However, you keep doing what you desire. Some will say don’t listen to your feelings because they’ll lead you astray. But I disagree, and this is why… You MUST FEEL it to HEAL it. Simply ignoring your feelings will not make them go away. How do you acknowledge your feelings, and not allow them to sabotage your desires? Like I said, feel it. But keep doing it. If your “baby self” is saying something, don’t shut her up. It’s no different than dealing with a child. Acknowledge her. Find out where she’s coming from. Comfort her. Pick her up and keep going. Once you acknowledge yourself, then assess what you’re feeling. Ask yourself if what you’re feeling is coming from a place of truth or not. Is it true or not true? Then decide how you’ll act upon it, or not. Don’t ignore how you feel. ALSO… Don’t act on every feeling you have. You get to decide if you’re going to believe your feelings as truth or not. Feeling...releases the “feeling” and allows you to continue on your way of loving your life + life's work well.  Feeling IS healing. Please grab your SACRED S.O.L. D.A.T.E. JOURNAL (Daily Action To Engage yourself.) TODAY’S SACRED S.O.L. STEP: Write down a feeling you’ve been pushing aside lately. Ask yourself where it’s coming from. What’s your heart trying to tell you right now? Assess it. Ask yourself: Is this true or not? Then decide if you’re going to believe it or not. Take at least one action on it today. Today’s episode is perfect for those moments when you simply don’t FEEL like it, and don’t exactly know what to do with your feelings. It’s somewhat of a continuation of yesterday’s EPISODE 093: Channeling Your Inner ROCK Star. So have you channeled your inner ROCK Star yet, my dear? You’ve heard me say, time and time again… If you desire to heal it, you must feel it. Period. Acknowledge your feelings, no matter what. But what do you when your feelings don’t support what you desire? You channel your “inner child” for a moment. Acknowledge your feelings, by feeling them. However, you keep doing what you desire. Some will say don’t listen to your feelings because they’ll lead you astray. But I disagree, and this is why… You MUST FEEL it to HEAL it. Simply ignoring your feelings will not make them go away. How do you acknowledge your feelings, and not allow them to sabotage your desires? Like I said, feel it. But keep doing it. If your “baby self” is saying something, don’t shut her up. It’s no different than dealing with a child. Acknowledge her. Find out where she’s coming from. Comfort her. Pick her up and keep going. Once you acknowledge yourself, then assess what you’re feeling. Ask yourself if what you’re feeling is coming from a place of truth or not. Is it true or not true? Then decide how you’ll act upon it, or not. Don’t ignore how you feel. ALSO… Don’t act on every feeling you have. You get to decide if you’re going to believe your feelings as truth or not. Feeling...releases the “feeling” and allows you to continue on your way of loving your life + life's work well.  Feeling IS healing.   Please grab your SACRED S.O.L. D.A.T.E.
