I have been a fan of Karine Plantadit since I saw her perform at the Tony awards in Come Fly away in 2010 (FYI she was Tony Award and Drama League Award nominated for that role) AND THEN we got to work together on “In The Heights”! I jumped at the opportunity to have a conversation with her because it isn't hard to tell that she is as strong in mind as in body. She is delightful and insightful and she blows my mind (and my heart) wide open in this episode. In this episode, Karine and I talk In The Heights, we talk Buddhism, we talk process, we talk goals, and flash flood warning… there are tears because we also dig into professional and personal heartbreaks. Life after rejection. It might sound dreadful, but when you are talking to someone like Karine… even tough subjects can feel like a glass of cold water on a hot summer day… So get ready to drink up! You need to navigate your creative career with clarity and confidence. I am your host master mover, Dana Wilson. And if you’re someone that loves to learn, laugh and is looking to rewrite the starving artist story, then sit tight, but don’t stop moving because you’re in the right place. Dana:Hello, hello, my friend, and welcome. This is words that move me. I’m Dana and wow, have I got a treat for you today? Um, so you know that feeling when you get to meet your heroes, uh, if you don’t, I’m going to explain it to you actually better yet. I’m going to just let you listen to it. This episode is it, this episode is me meeting a hero. Wow. Let’s see. Okay. I have been a fan of Karine Plantadit since I saw her perform at the Tony awards, um, with Come Fly Away, back in 2010. Oh, back in 2010 and I will 100% be linking to that performance. Um, a YouTube link because it’s so great FYI. She was nominated for a Tony award and a Drama League award for that role. And then several years later, we got to work together on In the Heights. She is the brilliant dancer that is straight up punishing Abuela Claudia on the train during Paciencia y Fe. Um, if you have not seen the movie yet, please, please do, and keep a close eye out for Karine. And if you have seen it, you know what I’m talking about guarantee, but go back and revisit that anyways. Okay. So not long after the premiere of, In the Heights, Karine slid into my DMS on the gram. And she asked for my number to ask me a question and I immediately choked up, like maybe I was in trouble or I did something wrong. I was sweating instantly. And then she called me and it was so warm and delightful and insightful. And she told me about an ongoing series of conversations that s

FRAGMENT RADIO // The guys still have a bunch of shit to do this week, so just a quick little episode about what we've been listening to. Bhaven shared: "Wayne Gretzky" and "23 (Freestyle)" by AR Paisley as well as "Fear Over Love" by Sheff G, which he heard while watching "Boogie", which starred Pop Smoke. Ahmed shared "Outro (Captions)", also by Sheff G, as well as "4 The Streetz" by Young Smoke and "On Me" by Lil Baby. Ahadu closed us off with "Body Bag" by Rich the Kid, NBA Youngboy and Lil Wayne, "Air Force 1's" by Nelly to commemorate our new shoes, as well as "Dawn Toliver" by Drakeo the Ruler and Don himself. He then flexed the leak king crown with an unreleased Don Toliver banger, before closing the show with a Meek Mill ft. Spade-O version of "Pound Cake". Be happy, enjoy!
I'm back and I'm sorry. As the title says, that's on me. That is also the title of the intro song, "That's On Me" by Mac Miller. So I talk about what happened with the last podcast that I recorded on the last day of Feb. Got to figure out how I'm going to talk about Possession on the next podcast without getting shadow banned by the actual shadows. I also talk about a comic in the scene ill call "Terminator" whos being banned and mistreated and I didn't get into all of it cuz I didn't want to start more beefs, or bore you mostly. I talk about the Abundance Model that I'm now following as well as more of the secret and how they all intersect. I give a "B" update and need to know if I should shave or not. I forgot the order of those topics but they should be close. I forgot what I ended on for sure cuz WEED IS LEGAL IN NJ!!!! Anyway if you're reading this love ya, send topics and questions to my IG @Pissedgofpodcast and eventually that on Gmail unless one of you grabs it first. Tune in to find out and see you next time! Love you Gofphites and newcomers!
Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, We had the pleasure of interviewing AK over Zoom audio! New Jersey born Hip-Hop artist, AK (Austin Kassabian), has firmly planted his feet in the Hip-Hop world with his uncanny lyrical abilities and unique sound. The razor-tongued rapper continues to make waves in the industry and is taking a stand in support of the BLM Movement with his latest single “Silence is Violence”. The single and its’ accompanying music video serve as an anthem for change and encourages listeners to speak out against racism and police brutality. AK’s incredibly descriptive lyrics paint a very clear picture of the violence happening across America today. AK is taking a stand by specifically calling attention to the police brutality in our country and actively supporting the BLM Movement. This record serves as an anthem for the state of our nation today and a cry for change during this pivotal election year. AK is using his music to promote change in the industry, and the world, by setting a strong example of what it looks like to be an ally. AK is taking a stand against the violence by refusing to stay silent. “Silence is Violence” follows AK’s latest music video release “Family Tree” which uses DeepFake technology to explore the evolution of Hip-Hop by acknowledging the iconic artists that have changed the history of the genre. Throughout the song, AK’s face digitally transforms into many different Hip Hop artists whose groundbreaking talent has made Hip-Hop flourish into what it is today. AK digitally morphs into Hip-Hop Legends like Lil Wayne, Eminem, Drake, Missy Elliot, Snoop Dogg and other icons as he pays homage to Hip-Hop influences in his “Family Tree” music video. The self-produced single serves to show AK’s deep appreciation for the genre, craft, and those that have come before him. While influenced by the Hip-Hop heroes of the past and present, AK has undoubtedly carved out a space of his own, representing the future of Hip-Hop. The 20-year-old artist from South Brunswick, NJ quickly took the internet by storm after writing and releasing remixed freestyle covers on YouTube, starting with his Desiigner’s “Panda” (40-Million Views). With 1.6-Million subscribers and well over 160-Million views on his own YouTube channel, AK has since released several original singles and successfully launched his music career. AK’s music has graced top charts both in the U.S. and internationally amongst iTunes, Spotify, YouTube Music and SoundCloud. His single “Now I’m Forever” landed at #1 on the U.S. iTunes Hip Hop Charts. This past year, AK released his much-anticipated EP, “On Me”, accompanied by top quality music videos for each single. His other recent releases have included “Top of the World” (as heard on ESPN’s First Take and E Sports League Poland), the fan favorite “Like I Got It” (with over 4-Million views), and “Broken” which perfectly portrays his masterful vocal ability. AK’s music blends Hip-Hop and R&B genres in a way that highlights his versatility as an artist. With each music release continually bigger than the last, it goes to show that AK is the next big thing in Hip-Hop.We want to hear from you! For a lot of us, the benchmark for a great meal is if we're still thinking about it long after we've had it. This greatly applies for the dishes prepared by Garima Arora, Chef Owner, Gaa & Here, and the guest on this episode of This Round is On Me.Garima is the first Indian woman chef to be awarded with a Michelin Star, and she was also named 'Asia's Best Female Chef' in 2019. After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, she worked at the famous restaurant Noma in Copenhagen, learning alongside René Redzepi. She returned to Asia in 2016 and was appointed the sous-chef at Gaggan in Bangkok, and then went on to open her own restaurant 'Gaa' in 2017, an innovative and modern fine dining establishment. More recently, she has opened a new restaurant called 'HERE', also in Bangkok. On this episode, Gauri and Garima talk about what all the accolades she has won mean to her, how they affect her business, how restaurants have been evolving during the times of coronavirus, what the last few months have been like for Garima and her team, how they went from being fully booked to 40% of capacity, the hardships and difficulties of shutting down a running restaurant, her plans for opening back up, how she looks at this as a time to try out all the unique ideas she has wanted to, Thailand being an extremely saturated market for delivery restaurants, her amazing Food Forward India programme, and lots more! When Scottish band Travis landed their bonafide hit with "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?"—we were all taken with frontman Fran Healy's cheeky grin, affable persona and the way he seeminly wore his heart on his sleeve. After years of Brit-pop feuds and Oasis infighting, it was refreshing to have a band that wasn't grabbing the headlines with tiresome rock n'roll antics. Travis were nice. After their 1997 debut Good Feeling—a rock record that fitted the zeitgeist but failed to make an impression, they took a year off to write and find their own sound. They returned with "Writing To Reach You" — a quiet single off their sophomore record, The Man Who. It riffs off the chords from Oasis's "Wonderwall" and begs the question "what's a wonderwall anyway?" Their second single, "Driftwood" capitalized further on this introspective, honest sound, bouyed by Fran's mellifluous vocals. When the heavens opened for their Glastonbury 1999 set during "Why Does It Always rain On Me?" the band's future would be forever changed. They would return to Glastonbury the following year triumphant, as festival headliners, alongside David Bowie and The Chemical Brothers. The Man Who would go on to chart around the world. I'm not sure if I ever thought about who the person writing these songs were? What kind of life did they have? What had happened to make them write a song about someone who never seems to have good things happen to them? All I saw was Fran's smile, lovely topline melodies and an optimism in his lyrics that was easy to relate to. In part, this was their plan all along. As a band they wanted the songs to be the stars. After the success of The Man Who, their follow-up was deliberately titled The Invisible Band. It's an art to be everywhere without most people knowing more beyond the songs, the accolades and perhaps what haircut Fran was spotting next? "Mirrors are problematic for me," he said with his face scrunched up, on our zoom call. "There's something in this," he circled his finger around his still boyish face, ashen hair tucked under a basecall cap, "—that makes me not happy." Back in the day, 'this' was the the face that launched a thousand haircuts with the fauxhawk. That dread, however, is deeply rooted and has over the last 25 years helped Fran write some of the best pop songs for Travis. Their latest album, 10 Songs, has now debuted at No 5 on the British charts, proving they haven't lost their touch. Many thanks for making this possible—Fran Healy for your honesty, being so 'nice' and recording additional audio for the podcast. Also for granting us permission to use the trailer from Almost Fashionable. Sony ATV and Concord Publishing for permission to use songs. Whattup doe! Welcome back to Baltimore County Forever Podcast. We went into the vault for this week’s episode featuring the gang, Norm and Stacy. We got a dope playlist this week. It features songs like “Be With You” by Norm himself. Norm gives us the inspiration behind the record and the best compliment he’s received as an artist. “Machine Gun Funk” by Notorious B.I.G is also on the playlist. Recently, Static Selekta dropped some unreleased music by BIG. I ask Norm who he trusts with his music in his absence and his answer is a pleasant surprise. Kendrick and the Game’s “On Me” also made the playlist. We talk about a few of the bars, and Stacy and Norm tell me if The Documentary and Good Kid, Madd City belongs in the same category of greatness as The Chronic and Doggystyle. Francine Cunningham is constantly reminded that she doesn’t fit the desired expectations of the world as a white-passing, city-raised Indigenous woman with mental illness. In her debut poetry collection On/Me, Cunningham explores, with keen attention and poise, what it means to be forced to exist within the margins.

The season finale sees a return to the inside of George's Mind. Episode 6 introduced Sanyu, a young idea on a mission to break out of the Poet's overcrowded headspace and reach his audience with her most meaningful contribution. After escaping the "Research and Development" faculty of George's Mind, Sanyu participated in a version of Episode 8 that simply wasn't all that, by her standards. Determined to deliver unprecedented value to the audience, Sanyu decides to "save" Episode 8 from averageness, fighting off insecurities and the ever-changing conditions of a creative mind. The ensuing adventure is a story of hope, fear and sacrifice relevant to anyone who dares to dream big. In many ways, Sanyu embodies the message of the podcast, put most aptly by Victor Hugo: nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come. Featured songs: Ambush "Man Can't"; Dun Dee "Ooh Wee"; KwayorClinch "Renting"; Mucky “It’s On Me”; Jorja Smith "The One"; Maverick Sabre & George the Poet ft. I kinda love the idea that someone is going to find this episode after searching for their favourite ancient Greek philosopher- and look, he does get a run, but this is mainly four guys talking about songs that teenagers loved twenty years ago. At least I think it's still about that? SONGS COVERED: 40. The Bloodhound Gang - Why is Everybody Always Pickin' On Me? 39. Something for Kate - Captain (Million Miles an Hour) 38. Metallica - The Memory Remains 37. The Mavis's - Naughty Boy 36. Ween - Mutilated Lips LIKE HOTTEST 100S AND 1000S ON FACEBOOK: hottest100sand1000s FOLLOW HOTTEST 100S AND 1000S ON TWITTER: @Hottest100s AND YOUR HOSTS: @AndrewM138 | @DJYwrites | @NLFHarrison and Adam, who made his twitter account drink the hemlock long ago. HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! It's time for NO MORE EXCUSES! But MISTAKES? They are truly meant to happen! March Madness is REALLY kicking in here now. And as each College team has finished their tournaments, I'm sure they are all spent time reflecting on the mistakes they made as they were awaiting the results of "Selection Sunday"! Even if you're outside of the U.S. or not a college basketball fan, I'm sure you understand the ENERGY and PASSION, the DEDICATION and COMMITMENT that is needed to achieve success!! With life being a "team sport", we depend daily on others talents and experience. It may not be actual staff, but it could be someone helping connect you by making an introduction; it could be the Post Office or other delivery service; or even technology! No matter what it is, we NEED others and at some point, any person or thing can mess up. When mistakes happen to you, what do you do? How do you learn from it? Or do you stop, quit, give up? Last week I asked if you had the PASSION that's needed to make it through. Well... do you? And if so, the COMMITMENT as well? Ok, good. NOW, when you make a mistake, how will recover and make sure it doesn't happen again? This week, listen in and then email me or post here an example of a time when you made a MISTAKE, when there's been a shit-storm in your world, and what did you learn?! And as always, if you need help learning from your mistakes, let's schedule a time to talk! First 30-min call is ON ME! Have a great week! Make lots of mistakes so you can GROW! Cheers! Sandi

This episode started out as solely Banned Books week themed. As it happens, it got out of hand. So instead, here’s a social science take on the censorship, banning, restriction and outright prohibition of works of art and speech. From Stan Cohen to Michel Foucault, we offer a few frameworks and examples to help make sense of how we govern censorship. Music abounds in this one. Fitting to play songs that some folks fought for us never to hear again. What little things annoy you? Wansai Ounkeo Answered Jun 29 Today in the public bathroom, A guy was washing his hands. I went to wash my hands. I flicked the water into the basin and dried it off on my trousers, because “man”. This other guy, took his wet hand and flicked the water out to his sides. Not in the sink. Not pointing at the sink. He took both wet hands out, pointed them to the sides, and flicked the water all over the floor and ON ME! I hate that. I hate it because I know people haven’t been taught how to use a wash basin properly when they were children. I hate it because I purposely keep my distance from people washing their hands as I know they will flick it everywhere. I hate it that some people still can manage to hit me with water from 4 meters away. For fuck’s sake! You know why I really hate it? Because guys don’t wash their hands properly. That bugger had his hands on his nuts and dick, an...
