Listen to today's podcast... I remember date night…That was before hockey and weekends at the rink. That was before school projects and helping out with math homework. And that was before going to bed before 9:00 was a matter of survival. With today's chaotic pace, it is easy to take your partner for granted. When we first fall in love, everything is excitingly-new. But, as the novelty factor starts to wane, we settle into more of a routine. That's when excitement can be replaced by boredom. But it doesn't have to be that way. Research shows that couples can regain that excitement in their relationship by trying something new together. Experiencing new things triggers the release of two brain chemicals, dopamine and norepinephrine — the same ones released when you're newly in love. Take One Action Today To Build Your #Resiliency! So Here are today's Tips For Building Resiliency and Celebrating National Couple Appreciation Month: Start going on dates again. Plan a road trip to nowhere. Go for a walk in the park and hold hands the entire time. Cook a special dinner together just for the two of you. Leave a quick note on the mirror, their gym bag, or their briefcase/purse to make them smile. Take a minute to think about how much more enjoyable they make your life, and then tell them. These are my suggestions, but I am sure that there are things that you did before that you would like to do again or new things that you would like to try with your partner. So go ahead – what's stopping you? (nothing should be stopping you!) Nothing can be more important then ensuring that your relationship stays rock solid. The intersection of the genres of horror and humor is a fascinating one. It's something I've brought up several times on the podcast since my first chat with comics writer Kyle Starks. They share the same cadence and rhythms, and it should be no surprise that the recipe comes out as delicious as peanut butter and chocolate, so I was delighted to see Steve Urena's email hit my InBox as someone who's work blending the two I've come to admire. Over the last few years, he's been throwing clever trope combos into the proverbial blender and knocking out successful crowdfunding campaigns ranging from the chronicles of murder sloths with Slow Pokes, to destroying Christmas in X-Maschina (don't stop believing Santa), and now he's back at that most hallowed of American institutions, the mall, with Zombie Date Night 2. Zombie Date Night 2 is funding right now on Kickstarter. From the campaign page Still recovering from the awkwardness of their first Zombie Date Night, main characters Jack and Ginger have reached the scariest place to be…the friend zone. When their survival group realizes they're running out of food, the enthusiastic and outgoing Ginger leads the charge with a very reluctant Jack to find sustenance before the zombaes (zombies who can only survive with a mate) eat them first. Will the second date be better than the first or will this situationship be food for the undead? PATREON We have a new Patreon, CryptidCreatorCornerpod. TALK TO ME, TEXT ITCensorship, political maneuvering, and surprising revelations dominated yesterday's news cycle – but how much did you actually hear about? In this eye-opening episode of An Americanist, we pull back the curtain on a critical censorship hearing that received minimal mainstream coverage.Matt Taibbi's Capitol Hill testimony revealed how the State Department's Global Engagement Center, originally created to combat foreign disinformation, pivoted under the Biden administration to monitoring everyday American social media users with no foreign connections. This confrontation between Taibbi and former "Disinformation Czar" Nina Jankowicz exposes troubling questions about government overreach and free speech limitations that deserve your immediate attention. We also explore Wisconsin's seemingly contradictory electoral outcomes, where voters overwhelmingly supported voter ID requirements while simultaneously electing a liberal judge. The explanation? Redistricting's powerful impact on our democratic process. Plus, bombshell revelations from a new book claiming former President Obama worked behind the scenes against Kamala Harris' potential 2024 candidacy, the Trump administration's unexplained suspension of university grants, and newly released JFK files suggesting CIA officials lied about their awareness of Lee Harvey Oswald. The episode wraps with a lighter audience question about your dream celebrity date, proving that even in times of serious political discourse, we can still find moments of connection and levity. Jase admits that his personal failures left him and Missy red-faced in front of everyone at the premiere of "The Chosen," but at least the after-party included a gang of kind nuns! The guys marvel at how life always seems to be moving forward, yet looking back is where greater understanding comes from. Zach drops a bombshell about a new movie his crew is working on that seems like it's going to be a hit, and the guys explore scriptures on how Christians should react when people don't accept or embrace the message of Christ. As a former pro triathlete, Brad Kearns used to push himself to the extremes of human endurance. He competed globally, chasing medals and personal records, only to eventually confront a humbling truth: his intense cardio regimen wasn't building him up — it was slowly breaking his body down. Overtraining left him exhausted, inflamed, and far from the image of optimal health he once envisioned. Today, Kearns sees fitness differently. Rather than pushing endless mileage, he's embraced shorter, more explosive movements like sprinting, jumping and lifting — movements that mimic our ancestral heritage, and that our bodies naturally crave. In this episode of the Primal Shift podcast, we talk about why modern fitness culture has become hyper-focused on cardio, overlooking the fact that our bodies thrive when exposed to a balanced set of exercises. We also discuss the consequences of pushing too hard, too often, including skyrocketing cortisol, hampered metabolism and staggering injury rates. Kearns' journey highlights the fact that optimal health is about nuance, not extremes. It's about rediscovering a primal approach to movement that energizes rather than exhausts, and heals rather than harms. By shifting away from relentless endurance toward mindful, primal fitness, we reconnect with our evolutionary blueprint, supporting lifelong vitality rather than short-term achievements. Many driven fathers fall into the trap: believing financial success equals a fulfilling family life. But what if your bank account is overflowing while your marriage is running on empty? Become the best husband and leader you can: www.thedadedge.com/mastermind Larry lived the dream–a high-powered career, a comfortable home, everything a provider could want. Yet, behind the facade of success, his marriage was crumbling. He was a stranger in his own house, his connection with his wife fading with each passing day. The statistics are clear: emotional disconnection TAKES A TOLL. And here's what the research tells us about the power of emotional connection: Couples who engage in regular date nights are 14% less likely to divorce. Children who have emotionally available fathers display 25% fewer behavioral issues. Couples who prioritize emotional intimacy report a 70% increase in overall relationship satisfaction. This episode exposes the myth that a bulging bank account equates to a loving, connected family. Larry provides actionable steps to prioritize emotional intimacy. He offers insights and guidance on cultivating a deeper, more fulfilling relationship with your spouse. He reminds us that connection, not possessions–is the true currency of love. www.thedadedge.com/friday199 www.themensforge.com www.thedadedge.com/25questions www.thedadedge.com/alliance

A weather anomaly at Al's house leads Jase down memory lane and how he used fish heads to capture Missy's heart on their second date.
