This week we welcome a cast of restoration all-stars for an update on the state of the industry following the RIA's 75th Diamond Anniversary Convention last week in Orlando, FL. RIA is the Big Daddy of the restoration industry and their convention is the highlight of the year. Hot topics at this year's event included what RIA has identified as the top three issues facing contractors today: Pricing, Third Party Adjusters (TPA's) and Consultants. There was also a lot of talk about the RIA's Advocacy and Government Affairs (AGA) Committee which has now formed three task forces to create position statements that articulate a shared stance for the industry. The AGA work product contains 10 total position statements including a groundbreaking TPA scorecard, hours of videos on pricing and a nationwide resource document on assignment of benefits. In the past year, RIA also released eight Third Party Consultant (TPC) position statements. These position statements educate restorers on best practices for working with consultants. There was also a town hall discussion on how RIA responded to the global pandemic, past president's panel with lessons learned and much more. LEARN MORE this week on IAQ Radio+. Guest Bios

The world we inhabit is integrally linked to it’s history, but unfortunately, the history we’ve been taught isn’t always the history that happened. Despite being on the cusp of a golden age, the dark forces are still doing everything they can to stop us from unearthing their secrets. Ancient civilizations hold more truths about our current state than we can comprehend, but in recent years it’s become more difficult than ever before to access the right information about them. The elites are in the process of rewriting history, and we’re at risk of finding ourselves in a completely unreal paradigm. How are these powerful forces stealing history, and what are their motivations? With the internet affording us instant communication, how effective will their attempts be? In this episode, alternative history legends and co-authors of the upcoming The Epic of Humanity, Matt LaCroix and Billy Carson join me as the Decoders of Truth 2020 to explain why ancient sites are under attack. Three Takeaways How ancient history is being hidden from us: It’s not a coincidence that our access to the past is so restricted. From terror groups destroying ancient sites to museums keeping artifacts in storage facilities rather than on display, our access to history is actively being censored. Why history withheld today has far-reaching effects: Robbing someone of their history is a surefire way to gain control over not only them, but their descendants as well. The false information we’re fed is stored in our epigenetic memories, where it will persist for up to 20 generations. What the elites are hiding from us: Human beings may have a mammal side, but we also have a God side, and that’s something ancient civilizations knew. If we all realized how much power we hold within ourselves, we would easily overcome oppressive structures, and that’s why the elites are determined to keep us in the dark. Over the last few months, there has been increased conversation and dialogue around racism, and what we can do to make a real lasting change in this country. It’s been necessary for us to talk about how racism impacts the real estate professionals in Chicago, and the challenges we face. In order for us to begin to see change, it’s important for local and state leaders to have and facilitate the necessary conversations. We need focused dialogue and the lesson of this season is to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. I’m joined today by Realtors and industry leaders to have these conversations, and share honestly some of our experiences and ideas about how we can move forward. What can real estate associations and leaders do to aid in finding solutions? How can we start to heal Chicago? In this episode, panelists Tracey Royal, Carrie Little, Nykea Pippion-McGriff, Sara Ware and Andy Burton share their thoughts. We talk about what it’s like being black in real estate in Chicago and possible solutions so that we can bring about not only diversity and inclusivity, but also equity as well. Carrie is the Managing Broker at CarMarc Realty Group and Adjunct Professor at Columbia College. Sara Ware is the Principal/Managing Broker at Ware Realty Group. Guests: Birthworkers Daniella Morales, Keelia Alder, & Brooke Patmor This is part 2 of a 2 part series where we dive into vulnerable conversations about identity and birthwork. In this episode, we continue exposing our proverbial underbelly by diving into the conversation around money, privilege and birthwork. Guest Bios & Contact Info: Daniella Morales | DaniellaMorales.com Daniella was born and raised in SF and I now lives in Berkeley. Her ancestry is rooted through indigenous peoples from central america specifically Nicaragua. Family is the base of everything she does. She has a wonderful son who’s birth was the most enlightening experience she’s ever had. With her family’s support and love she is able to serve the creating of mothers and families through birthwork. Daniella is a birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and hold mothers blessing ceremonies. She honors the wisdom and medicines that come from her ancestors and those that have lived these lands before her. What she loves most about birth is how the birthing person is so present in a primal and pure way. Everything else in the world ceases and they go deeply inward to a place of origin. Instincts guide them on this journey and when ready, they are born as mothers… She is continuously amazed by the strength and power it takes to do this primal dance. Keelia Alder | DoulaKeelia@gmail.com I've always loved birth. My mom was a childbirth educator, so I was lucky enough to grow up with expectant parents practicing breathing techniques and birthing positions in our living room every Tuesday night. Becoming a doula was the most natural thing in the world for me, and I've loved every sweaty, beautiful second of it since I became a certified birth and postpartum doula in 2015. As part of the birth justice movement, I believe that all parents deserve an empowering and celebrated birth experience regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, class, sexuality, body type, or religion, and I am over-the-moon excited to work with you towards the birth experience you're hoping for. Brooke Patmor | BrookePatmor.com I am passionate about supporting birthing people and their families through the transition to parenthood. This is such a sacred time. I believe in the importance of offering evidence based information about birth, giving you a full scope of all your options so that you can make well informed decisions that feel right for you and your family. I believe people should birth where they feel comfortable, safe and empowered and have supported clients birthing at home, in hospitals and at birth centers. believe in the wisdom and intuition of the human body and am honored to help safeguard the birthing process. As a queer person myself, I am dedicated to offering inclusive care. I welcome people of all identities and family structures. I am down-to-earth and compassionate in my care offering a steady sense of peace to your process. I rely on my intuition and learned skills to help meet you and your partner where you are. I want you to feel safe, supported and educated going into your birth experience. Music: “Pynk” by Janele Monae Follow @BirthBruja on Instagram and Facebook to continue the conversation
Many team leaders hope to hide the issues in their businesses with virtual assistants and other solutions attempts. How does this doom any strategy to failure? How can we structure the leadership and team when we’re out of production? How can we build a team that runs itself? On this episode, team leaders Adrienne Lally and Attilio Leonardi share on their systems and how they use ISAs and VAs to enhance their business. Takeaways + Tactics Don’t be afraid of strategic partnerships. There will always be someone who knows more and someone who can help. If we prioritize internal accountability and build a team that can manage itself, it cuts down the burden on the leaders. ISAs and VAs won’t solve problems you already have in your business. They are an enhancement, not a solution. At the start of the show, Attilio and Adrienne shared how got started and began working together. Next they talked about how the business works with both of them out of production. They also shared on how they structure their leadership, and how they get the most out of their VAs and ISAs. We also discussed: The expander and container model Adrienne and Attilio’s team runs How commission splits change according to who nurtures the lead What they learned about bringing on an ISA VAs and ISAs are a great way to enhance something that’s already there. If we have a good team built on the right systems, hiring them will only make us go higher. If we have problems in our businesses, they will get worse even if we bring in the best people. We need to leverage these solutions to take us to the next level, instead of avoiding the hard work of building a strong team. Once we have the right structures in place, the VAs and ISAs can be utilized to their full potential. Guest Bios- Adrienne is the owner of Team Lally in Hawaii.
