Josh and Raul are joined by Russell Hainline of Crazie Cast to talk about Duke's recent stretch of games. They react to the disappointing home loss to Pittsburgh and the 83-69 win at Louisville. How concerning is it that Duke is struggling against weak teams? How much of this is a product of health, how much is schematic, and how much comes down to effort? They then preview the Clemson game and talk about what Duke has to do to finish the season strong. You can follow Russell on X at @DukeBetter. We return to our roots and bring back Dr. Brian Hainline. Our first podcast guest returns now as the USTA Chairman of the Board and President. As NCAA Chief Medical Officer, lends even more credence to why he focuses on the great health benefits of tennis – 9.7 more years of life! With tennis participation skyrocketing, Brian also highlights how it has grown in Hispanic/Latino, Black/African and Asian/Pacific communities. He also supports the need for great sportsmanship and more officials to oversee the game. It's almost May, which means it's time for National Tennis Month! USTA Southern Marketing & Public Relations Committee Chair James McKissick talks about NTM and what Southern volunteers are doing to celebrate it. Our NTM events have jumped to 386 events, nearly double our 2022 total. Highlighted are junior Emily Baek, of Suwanee, Ga., and USTA Southern award winners: the 3rd Annual Battle of the Sexes in Columbus, Miss. and the Level 5 open Team Pilot in Ridgeland, Miss.

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2023.03.22.533794v1?rss=1 Authors: Danner, S. M., Shepard, C. T., Hainline, C., Shevtsova, N. A., Rybak, I. A., Magnuson, D. S. K. Abstract: Thoracic spinal cord injury affects long propriospinal neurons that interconnect the cervical and lumbar enlargements. These neurons are crucial for coordinating forelimb and hindlimb movements in a speed-dependent manner. At the same time, recovery from spinal cord injury is usually studied over a very limited range of speeds. To overcome this limitation, we investigated overground locomotion in rats over the full range of speeds pre-injury and after recovery from thoracic hemisection or contusion injuries. Intact rats expressed a speed-dependent continuum of alternating (walk and trot) and non-alternating (canter, gallop, half-bound gallop, and bound) gaits. After a lateral hemisection injury, rats recovered the ability to locomote over a wide range of speeds but lost the ability to move using the highest-speed gaits (half-bound gallop and bound) and predominantly used the limb contralateral to injury as lead during canter and gallop. A moderate contusion injury resulted in a greater reduction in maximal speed, loss of non-alternating gaits, and emergence of novel alternating gaits. Analysis of the gait structure in phase space and the variability of limb coupling suggests substantial reorganization of intraspinal pathways mediating interlimb coordination following recovery of locomotion after lateral hemisection or midline contusion injuries. This reorganization appears as an increased reliance on local enlargement circuitry and suggests that speed-dependent gait changes in the forelimbs rely on ascending information from the lumbar circuitry that is impaired post-injury. These observations highlight how investigating the full repertoire of locomotor speeds can reveal otherwise hidden aspects of spinal circuitry and post-injury reorganization. It is important to remember that Dr. Hainline has been a member of the board for the past 10 years and has approved all the failed policies that have created the losses and huge debt that now burdens the organization.I hope you like it and share it if you find value in it.Javier PalenqueBelow is the Linkedin article if you wish to read it.

I carried it as part of my identity, for example, I am depressed, I am anxious. Now when I'm experiencing an emotion, actually I am grateful for it because this shows me that it's linked to something deeper. I will go into my emotional state and work on understanding what that emotion is connected to. Then I will start working on the underlying trauma or cause of that emotional state. This is true especially if I realize I am over-exaggerating my reaction to something. Thoughts on Breathing Breathing is one of those things that's very powerful because it supersedes or interjects itself into your body and into your mindset. I suggest doing intentional breathing, a deep breath into your belly, and breathing out, and focus on that for mindfulness. You can focus on breathing in calm energy and breathing out anxious energy, or breathing in happy energy and breathing out depressed energy. This is a very good way to come back to center and come back to focus because it takes your mind off of all other extraneous things that may be distracting you. It was more feeling like I was left out a lot of times. Having developed a better sense of self when I was younger, if I'd had some kind of support, it would have been wonderful. When my youngest son was in first or second grade, there was a girl who was picking on him and he was really angry about it. He said, “I told the teacher and she won't listen because she's grown and I'm just a boy.” There was this whole dynamic that the teacher was just not understanding what was going on. I told him, “there's a reason that she's acting that way towards you. This is not about you, it's about what she's going through in her life. It's about her misery.” I said, “what she's feeling inside is so much harder for her than what she's giving to you, so you need to think about that. When she's mean to you, think, she must be really going through something.” He said that he got to where he could talk to her and he said, “mom, I found out that her parents were getting divorced. She was really angry because her mom was living with somebody else and she missed her dad.” He said, “I understand now”. Feel Better in Five Minutes: An Empowering Guide to Gain Control Over Your Emotions By Amanda Hainline The Bible of Short, Fast and Proven Energy-Fixes for Whatever Ails You--Depression, Anxiety, Pain, Disconnection, Loss, Trauma, or the Overall Blahs... Amanda Hainline has Assembled the Most Complete and Useful Protocols, Practices and Resources to Release Pent Up Emotion--79 of Them! From suburban mom to a full-blown psychic in 30 seconds! Amanda Hainline called it her path from "Hot Mess Mom to Emotional Freedom." Gripped with depression, anxiety, apathy and overwhelm as a mom raising two kids, she had trouble just getting out the door most days. As it got worse, she followed the advice of a friend to seek an energy healer. Entirely new to energy work, Amanda experienced a deep relaxation on the first visit, but the second visit was life changing-- when all of Amanda's chakras blew open simultaneously as she experienced the kundalini energy rising from the base of her spine up through her head! Flooded with emotions that were trapped for years, that kundalini awakening also triggered an ability to hear and perceive new information from unseen forces that opened Amanda to her own healing techniques. And following them, every day, she felt better than the last. Thus, begins a fascinating journey of how Amanda developed the initial core of healing techniques that transformed her life, continued to experiment on her own as her personal laboratory, and then launched into a 15-year career as a heralded energy healer, who attracts clients from around the globe. The highly effective array of her energy-transforming techniques -- which often take only minutes -- have all been compiled in her new Amazon #1 bestseller, Feel Better in Five Minutes. This comprehensive set of protocols, practices and resources are a roadmap for releasing the emotional pain and trauma, physical ailments, self-judgement and general dissatisfaction with life that plagues so many. In most cases, Amanda offers you a quick version that can provide an instant energy transfusion (Transform in Five) and one that can be done over a longer amount of time to anchor in the transformation (Transform in Ten.) Using case studies with her clients and her own experiences, Hainline shows how these tools upended the trapped energy and lethargy, giving rise to renewal, passion, purpose, joy, health, forward movement, and physical stamina. She starts by providing an in-depth "Feel-Better Assessment" to undertake - a baseline look at what is driving you...and an evaluation that can be used time-and-again to realize your progress, or reveal the next level that needs attention. And then she takes you in to specific practices that unlock the chains binding you emotionally and physically -- using color, focused conversation and visualization with specific organs, breathwork, light balance, candles, salts, oils, crystals and angelic invocation -- each protocol designed to address the specific issues or emotions that are weighing you down. You'll find 79 shortcuts to emotional freedom in this book! There are customized and highly-detailed "Feel-Better Plans" that focus on depression, anger, physical pain, and anxiety as well as detailed information on more than 50 other emotional states. Furthermore, Amanda gives you the tools to create your own protocol to address precisely what keeps you from being your most magnificent self. The level of detail here is the magic! Amanda Hainline has become a world-renowned hands-on healer using the techniques she offers in Feel Better in Five Minutes. She believes everyone should have these tools at hand for a quick pick-up or a life changing transformation.

Alex Murray is a Canberra based Podiatrist working in private practice and the founder of the website Making Sense in Podiatry. He's passionate about helping other clinicians make sense of evidence and clinical practice with a core philosophy of exploring the complexity of human beings, embracing the uncertainty of clinical practice, and avoiding overly reductionist thinking. He has experience with both national and international athletes and recently transitioned to focusing primarily on helping the general population, and local athletes manage their pain and achieve their goals. On this episode we discuss: The paradigm shift and changing the ways we think about not only our failures but also our successes. Reductionism & Complexity Guided problem solving: why different problems can be managed successfully in many ways Having more treatment options make us better. Pain Management and managing athletes. Patient beliefs and previous experiences will determine their behaviours.  The long-term benefits of understanding and listening to your patient's goals and how to encourage them back into their activity  "Reassurance is a great pain killer." Final Tip Listen: You need to listen before you begin to educate your patient. If you listen, you'll know everything that you need to address. You'll know what the patient's goal is, and you can take that information and apply it to them. With listening, we'll know what they're looking for, expecting, and what makes them fearful. Only then can we can reassure our patients.  Reflective Listening: Reflect what they're saying, so they can either correct us or agree with us. There needs to be a sense of collaboration.  If you have any questions after listening to this episode, please send me an email at tf@tysonfranklin.com, or you can contact Alex Murray via his website Making Sense in Podiatry, or his Facebook Page.  You'll find a list of  Alex's Reference Articles at the bottom of this page.  Podiatry Business Coaching & Mentoring If you want to own and operate a Thriving Podiatry Business, there are four vital pieces to the business puzzle.   Marketing - You need a well thought out marketing strategy, not just more tactics.  Systems - You need systems that will support your marketing strategy and your team. Team - You need to develop a team culture that makes your work-life balance easier, not harder.  Diary - Your diary needs to be structured in a way that maximises patient numbers and increases daily profits.  You have two choices: There's the slow approach, where you learn by trial and error and do everything yourself, or you can fast-track your education and business success with one-on-one business coaching and mentoring, or group coaching.  If you want to know more, please email me at tf@tysonfranklin.com, and we can set up a Zoom Call and have a quick chat to see if I can be of assistance.   ALEX'S REFERENCES THE ESSENTIAL PAIN PAPER Moseley, G. In this edition of Overdrive Radio, listener Regi Rinear wonders at the risk for a company or leased operator of running with paper logs when ELDs are required, with little assurance that support personnel had done what was necessary to, if ultimately needed, extend the eight-day period FMCSA gives any carrier and/or driver experiencing an ELD malfunction. Herein: How to get that grace-period extension. Also: More on the Entry Level Training Rule and its likely delay with operator Scott Hainline, who was trained twice, in entirely different trucking eras, bookended by a career in law enforcement. Yes, we've heard from the off-the-record sources, too. With the training rule delay set to be made official any day now, operator Scott Hainline of Illinois notes he's just as hopeful as other operators for real safety improvement with training practices standardization –- at least when it comes to raising the bar for minimum standards. His perspective is interesting because he was initially trained back in the late 1970s and early 1980s. As with so many owner-operators starting out during that time and even up through the present day in some cases, Hainline learned through an informal apprenticeship with a fuel hauler in his area, which you'll hear more about in the conversation that follows here. By the early 1990s, though, he'd left trucking behind for a career in law enforcement, retiring just several years ago, whereupon he decided to re-enter trucking. What he found upon retraining for his CDL with a community-college program, though, he felt lacked in several different areas, and looking around his state he's seen the wide variability in how different CDL-training programs approach the basics. Our conversation touches on all of that, likewise what opportunity may exist for formalizing the one-on-one CDL apprenticeships of yesteryear in the at-some-point coming required training regime, where both coursework and range and road training minimum standards must be met before a learner's permit holder can take their CDL skills test. (Pictured: Hainline in the mid-1970s as a teenager.)

Over the years, I've found myself occasionally returning to the university setting to meet with, speak to, and encourage students in exploring and challenging their doubts. Allen Hainline makes a habit of it. Allen studied physics from the University of Texas at Austin, later being trained at the graduate level in Systems and Software Engineering. But after a season of skepticism and doubt, Allen found a renewed faith in his childhood religion, and has made a formal study of Science and Religion at Biola University. Allen has been a recurring participant at the Bible and Beer Consortium, having given presentations about the Fine-Tuning of the Universe, as well as debating the compatibility of Science and God with Lydia Allen. His desire to encourage student apologists led him to help found an apologetics ministry at UT Dallas several years ago, which is now a chapter of William Lane Craig's Reasonable Faith. Allen also leads an apologetics ministry at his church, Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall, Texas.

Too bad we had to record the show using two tin cans and a piece of string, and an old wax cylinder sound recorder. Oh well. It's not like I have any money to spend on sound quality (I spend it all on quality of character). by the way, if anyone can spot the magical SUPERFLUOUS word I've worked into the usual script, send me an email with it as the subject line, and I'll write you back a prize.  the prize is a haiku about whatever's on my mind.
