Social media is filled with unboxings and endless hauls, and we've all been there—tempted to hit “add to cart” just to keep up. But here's the truth: fast fashion is draining our wallets and our planet. In today's episode, we're doing the opposite of a haul. I'm walking you through how to break the cycle of over-consumption, declutter your wardrobe, and fall in love with what's already hanging in your closet. Because, spoiler alert: you don't need new clothes to feel new. We're talking about: Why most of your wardrobe ends up in a landfill (yikes). The influencer illusion (no, they don't actually live that minimalist dream). How to declutter without the stress—seriously, it's not as hard as you think. Shopping your own closet like a pro and rediscovering pieces you forgot you owned. You'll leave this episode feeling lighter, more organized, and in control of your closet—no shopping spree required. What's Inside: Fast Fashion's Dirty Secret Let's get real for a second: up to 10% of global carbon emissions come from the fashion industry. So, yeah, those impulse buys have a way bigger impact than we think. In this episode, I share some jaw-dropping stats that'll make you rethink those late-night shopping sprees (like the fact that making one cotton t-shirt uses 700 gallons of water—yikes). Declutter Like a Pro Here's the good news: you don't have to toss everything in your closet to feel organized. I'll show you how to declutter strategically—without the overwhelm. Plus, I'll share my favorite hack, the hanger trick, to figure out what you're really wearing and what's just taking up space. Shop Your Closet If you've ever said, “I have nothing to wear,” you'll love this part. Once you've decluttered, it's time to rediscover your wardrobe. I promise, you've got hidden gems in there just waiting to be loved again. You'll feel like you've gone shopping—without spending a dime. Plan Outfits for the Week You meal plan, right? So why not do the same with your wardrobe? I share my trick for hanging up your outfits for the week (which seriously makes getting dressed in the morning so much easier), and you'll find yourself excited about what you already own. How to Stop Buying So Much Want to break the shopping cycle? I give you my no-BS tips on how to curb those “gotta-have-it” impulses, including my favorite: the 48-hour rule. Trust me, it works. Joanne Bolt is the founder of the B Word podcast https://www.joannebolt.com/blog/122 and the PodcastHer Network group.https://www.joannebolt.com/ She started her career as a consultant for one of the top five consulting firms in the world but pivoted to real estate. However, she soon realized it wasn't her passion and found her calling in podcasting. She finds joy in pouring into those she interviews, as well as her audience. She prefers to work in a group setting, where people can take what they want from her wisdom, and she does not feel the pressure of a one-on-one coach. JoAnne believes that many people need to identify why they can never feel complete in their current work....she did.... and she found that podcasting was a natural fit for her! BIG IDEAS FROM THIS EPISODE Monetizing Your Podcast Finding Your Niche Getting Started Networking and Collaborating Inspiration and Creativity Discovering Your Strengths Monetizing Your Podcast Podcasting can be used to make money, even if you don't have millions of downloads per episode. Focusing on women can be particularly lucrative, as they can make six-figure incomes. Podcasts are a great way to introduce potential customers to your business and help them get to know you. For those just starting out, content should focus on providing value to listeners. Finding Your Niche She tells a story of her friend, Allie Casazza, wrote Declutter Like a Mother and found success by talking about it with her husband, writing a book, and shifting her podcast to focus on cleaning out business space. To become a success, one must start with what they can currently offer and be willing to pivot their podcast in a group setting. Getting Started Podcasting can be intimidating for new users, but the Podcast Mastermind Group can offer guidance and advice. One way to grow your podcast and business is through Pinterest. It is important to remember that perfection isn't necessary, and that it's better to start than to wait. It is possible to start a podcast for free, but if you want to store episodes, you will eventually need to pay for a version upgrade. Initially, it's best to only spend around 50 dollars on equipment, but after some time, more expensive equipment can be purchased if desired. Networking and Collaborating Joanne Bolt offers a membership site for those looking to get on other people's podcasts without having to go in for interviews. Members can get access to the site and all of its evolving features. Joanne also offers an accelerator program which puts podcasts in groups of 6 to 8 for six months and teaches members how to swap ads and collaborate together. Additionally, members can take part in a two-part mini-series known as a “collab”, where one interviews the other and then they switch, resulting in two episodes and two audiences. The key is getting collabed with the right podcast host and arranging them to drop at the same time. HER BEST ADVICE IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO PODCAST ON....Discovering Your Strengths Become an expert in something you don't know and ask friends what comes easily to you. Help others solve their problems by asking the right questions and bring out the best in people. As an example, Sarah Gammel created a business teaching others how to network effectively, after someone pointed out her natural ability in this area.

My guest this week is Allie Casazza. In this episode, Allie and I discuss how to declutter our lives and environment so we can be happier and healthier. If you are listening to this episode as it airs, the start of the new year is the perfect time to cover this topic, as many of us are looking at our lives—homes, schedule, health, routines, etc. and saying, “Oh my goodness, I need to get things in order”, especially after the holiday hoopla. There is something about the blank slate of a new year that invites us to take a closer look at our environments and habits, and this can be a really good thing for us adults and for our kids. Research shows our physical environment plays a huge role in how we feel and function, and that includes how our kids feel and function too. Let's explore deeper to provide you with practical and doable tips to declutter, where to start, and how to navigate resistance and obstacles! Because this is true of LIFE! In our interview about her book, we discuss: - How your home represents how you feel about yourself - and why this matters (without you even realizing it)! - What minimalism really means (it's not what you think). - What to do with gifts that you don't want to keep, while honoring the giver (so good - how did I never think of this)? - What underwear we wear (yes, really)! - How life's too short for bad pajamas... and to drink out of a fugly mug!!

1. How do you keep up with household organization and cleaning without getting overwhelmed and just not doing anything at all?Start with a book! Some of our favorites are:Declutter Like a MotherA Mother's RulePray Like Mary, Clean Like MarthaFirst, figure out your priorities!  Is a clean house your #1, then schedule your day for it.  Is playing with your kids the most important to you?  Then plan for that!  (All of us have different priorities and that's OK!)Then, figure out what makes you crazy!  Is it the laundry?  Dishes, the kitchen?  Is there a small thing, that you can turn into a habit that will make you FEEL like your home is clean?  Next, what can you do to be kind to tomorrow's you?  Finally, understand that having help that isn't exactly up to your standards is better than no help at all. . .not all help will be exactly what you want, and that's ok.  Opportunities for growth exist here-both for us moms (in learning to let go a bit) and for kids (in learning to be proud of the work they do).  Just know that you will have to repeat yourself over and over again.Sidenote: In Brittany's home they practice mastery. . .First time-you show by doing.Second time-you show them by having them help you.Third time-they show you and you're there to monitor and ask good questions.Fourth time-they do it all by themselves, and you come back and check.(The above steps can be applied to MANY different situations-not just chores and meal mastery!)2. What do you do when your kids are asking for snacks all day long?  In Brittany's family, the rule is one piece of fruit and then vegetables (carrots are always available), and as soon as dinner prep starts there is no more snacking.  In my family, it's free reign.  I get cereal bars and chips and my kids quite often refuse to eat the delicious food I cook (this isn't always the case-but it isn't a battle I pick currently).  It really comes down to what battles you are willing to fight!  If you want to snack all day and that's your thing, that's fine!  If food is really important to you, fight that battle mama-and just know there will be things that you will make that your kids don't like!On the planning side, you need to figure out what your priorities are.  If you want snacks every day, plan it out!  Hungry kids will eat eventually!  You don't have to turn to Mac n' Cheese-unless it is for you, and you need to let it be easy.  If you need some help with meal planning, check out episode 9 (season 2) AND head to https://www.deliberatedayjournal.com and enter your e-mail for access to the free resource library and your FREE printable.3.  What do you do about so many different taste buds?I try to include something something that everyone likes in each meal.  Sometimes it is a second veggie or grain.  Brittany's meals are non-negotiable.  Cooking is a sacrifice-with lots of love and care that goes into each meal-so even if they don't like it, they need to eat it.  Tastebuds are always changing, and it's possible that if you don't like something-you might like it cooked a different way!  Kids don't need to lie about what they like and don't like, but we should ALL be thankful that someone loved us enough to cook for us.Sidenote: Food battles are almost ALWAYS a thing with toddlers.  Hang in there though-keep encouraging kids to try and eat lots of different items.  Food is fuel, it keeps us healthy and nourishes our bodies, it isn't just for pleasure.

Today's guest is Allie Casazza, queen of decluttering and the woman who helps other women simplify everything - in their homes, in their schedules and even in their motherhood. As I prayed about this conversation, I realized how deeply important it is that our days begin well at home. Our mornings begin at home, our rest begins at home and that flows out onto the people and situations we come across throughout the day. We have to get a handle on our homes, friends - for sweeter days and for furthering the Kingdom. We shouldn't be spending every moment cooking, cleaning, stressing and then cleaning again, only to miss out on the most special moments that we should be savoring with our little ones and our families. I took to Instagram for this episode to ask you guys what you wanted to hear from Allie, so this Q&A style conversation is full of practical advice that you wanted to know. Allie shares how her own life was impacted by too much stuff and how it affected her own joy and caused deep depression and anxiety in her motherhood, which is what compelled her to write a book and coach women in the art of minimalism. She talks about guilt-free, no-stress ways to transform your home and your life - and it is GOOD stuff, you guys. On this episode, Allie answers questions about decluttering children's toys, the importance of donating items without guilt, how to organize without all of the fancy baskets and expensive plastic bins, teaching your children and husband about the process, and much more! By the way, if you have a quick minute, would you mind giving The Living Easy Podcast a star rating and review on iTunes? It should really only take 60 seconds! I love hearing feedback from you guys and it really blesses me to see the reviews. It also helps me to get more amazing guests like Allie on the show! Organization and clutter are huge obstacles for ADHD. When my house is cluttered, my mind is cluttered! The unnecessary junk takes up a significant amount of my mental bandwidth, so I've worked dang hard to get rid of the things that are not serving me. I want to help you do that, too. Today, you're in for a treat! Allie Casazza of The Purpose Show Podcast is here to share her wisdom on decluttering and minimalism for moms. Allie's podcast is the very first podcast I listened to, so she was watering the podcast seeds for Motherhood in ADHD. While Allie doesn't have ADHD herself, she was raised by an ADHD mom, is married to her ADHD spouse, and is a mom herself to 4 kids, and her oldest Bella has ADHD as well. I've gotten to know Allie through her business and podcast mentorship, and I just adore the way she teaches - and you know that as a teacher, I have pretty high standards. Allie's all about figuring out what makes sense for you and your life, and not about doing what everyone else is doing. Her methods are very ADHD-friendly, and her love and compassion for our people and how our brains work simply shines through. Allie and I chatted about how we can make our motherhood easier in modern times -- where support for moms runs thin and social media only shows us everyone else's highlight reels. She explains her minimalism philosophy and how clutter is a thief - not just of our space in our homes, but our time and our energy. We also get into the "why" behind decluttering and talk about practical first steps to declutter your home. She shares how to make decluttering fun, build momentum, and what we can do to reward ourselves for a job well done. Her first book, Declutter Like a Mother, releases September 7th; it's an easy read that makes sense to my ADHD brain.
