On December 21, 2023, Braonain's phone ceased to send notifications near the rear entrance of the Marley Station Mall located in Maryland, marking the last known activity before his mysterious disappearance. Days later, on January 3, 2024, a trooper from the Arizona Department of Public Safety discovered Braonain's abandoned Hyundai Accent sedan parked on the shoulder of Highway 89A, close to Page, Arizona. The vehicle was located at milepost 570, nestled between House Rock Road and Jacob Lake Inn, and notably lacked a license plate while also having very little fuel remaining in the tank. Alongside the car, Braonain's red Galaxy phone encased in a black OtterBox and a distinctive black and yellow jacket were also reported missing, raising further concerns about his well-being. Authorities suspect that the vehicle had been left there since December 30, 2023, although a witness claims to have seen it parked there as early as December 26, 2023. It is theorized that Braonain may have departed on foot without a clear destination, as his family and friends noted that he exhibited no unusual behavior prior to his disappearance. If anyone possesses information regarding the whereabouts of Braonain McGinnis, they are urged to reach out to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office at (928) 774-4523 or (800) 338-7888, referencing case number S24-00032. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/locatingthelost/support

A suspect in a car theft is still wanted after leading law-enforcement officers on a Jan. 22 chase from China Grove eastward into San Antonio and back to where it began. The pursuit started after China Grove police Officer Morgan Lucas checked the license plate on a 2020 Hyundai Accent leaving the Lakeside subdivision east of China Grove and found it had been reported as stolen. Lucas called for backup and followed the subcompact sedan after it turned south from Lakefront Drive onto Foster Road and then turned east onto Sulphur Springs Road. Flipping Genius - THE Car Flipping podcast #CarFlipping #FlippingCars
let's get caught up... In episode 161, I talked about 3 vehicles I bought in one day - here's an update on those: the Lincoln LS - sold almost immediately... The Hyundai Accent is back from getting the clutch rebuilt... The Honda Pilot that I thought was the pick of that litter... I'll update you on these deals when they are completed. IF you are on the Car Flipping Forum, you have probably seen my video on the solid Kia Sedona that I bought. It is likely already sold and will also net over $1,000 in profit - even AFTER the “STUPID TAX” I had to pay for blowing out a tire while towing it myself. - if you haven't seen it - that video is on the Car Flipping Forum - Or, if you subscribe to the Flipping Genius YouTube channel, you will find it there too. In all of these items though - the key is that I bought them right. I kept my risk to a minimum. I think that may be THE MOST IMPORTANT thing I do. …I am happy to say that I passed that bit of information on - along with a few other tidbits of wisdom here and there to my young friend Joey. Today I'll share a couple GREAT INSIGHTS that Joey was kind enough to share with me this week! I always enjoy talking with young friend Joey. He flips cars as a side hustle and makes a considerable income, in addition to holding down a responsible full time job... I thought I'd share a couple of Joey's insights that he shared with me... #1 “Be kind to others”. Each day my sweet sister in law would say those words with my nephews when they left for school. Joey apparently had a similar influence in his life. He definitely follows that plan. He works 40 hours a week - which for a kid like Joey is really just a part time gig. While doing his J O B, as well as while Joey does everything he does, he is kind to everyone he comes across. Joey TALKS with people, ASKS them questions and LISTENS to their answers. These days, that is pretty unusual... The net result is that many people are KIND back to Joey. And some even want to do business with this nice, attentive young man. That has resulted in Joey buying several vehicles for nearly nothing - and even getting one or two cars for FREE! It has also lead Joey to some easy, profitable, quick sales of vehicles he has reconditioned! #2 “Use other people's money”. ...His credit is nearly perfect! So, Joey has leveraged that into 2 deals this past year where he had his bank - a credit union in his case - provide 100% of the purchase price for vehicles - $20,000 for one and $21,000 for the other - and then turned around and sold the vehicles to a National Used Car Dealership chain for a substantial profit BEFORE the first payment was even due! Having this available cash allowed Joey to move to the front of the line in these two situations where the sellers were in a hurry to cash out of the vehicles. He negotiated excellent buying prices based on the homework he had done on the National Dealership's buying perimeters and then, walked away with of profits or $3,000 and $4,000 without doing more than running the cars through a car wash! Smart kid! I hope to have Joey come on the podcast soon and share more of the details on this. Episode 164: 23-Day Alaskan Wilderness Survival: Interview - Tyson SteeleHis last semester of grad school Tiberius Steele lived in his car. When the university revoked all the grad student teaching scholarships he was forced to find a way to continue on with his schooling, but he couldn’t afford rent, so Tyson removed the passenger seat from his tiny Hyundai Accent, built a bed where the seat had been and parked up the canyon at nights. “It was great,” he said, “No rent, fresh mountain air. From that point on I was hooked on the idea of budget, small living.” But that’s just the beginning. How do we get from here to surviving in the Alaskan wilderness—in the lowlands south of Denali National Park, for 23 days in below freezing temperatures after his home burnt to the ground, killing his best friend and dog - a lab who had been with him through six years of rough living, and eating from burned out cans of food with melted plastic in them from the fire that decimated all his belongings? Tune into the audio program for my interview with Tiberius Steele - mountain man, survivor, poet, hermit, and teacher. He says it was looking for the beauty around him - focusing on the northern lights, looking a moose in the eyes, noticing the beautiful countryside and singing to himself.

This week we have Farid Kanji from Farid's Auto Centre joining us to discuss the latest Consumer Reports survey. The survey highlights the top 10 vehicles most likely to go beyond 200,000 miles (320,000km) with the least amount of repair. We discuss the picks on the list and share our thoughts. We also talk about the impact that modern technology has on vehicle longevity and frequency of repairs, and whether or not modern cars will be able to go the distance to the same extent. Finally, we share our thoughts on the new vehicle test drive of the week, the 2018 Hyundai Accent.

Can the 2018 Hyundai Accent stay relevant in a world where people seem exclusively interested in crossovers and SUVs? Benjamin had the chance to drive the redesigned Accent in the Nevada desert and came back with some insights on the future of small cars in America. Sami stayed home for an in-depth comparison of the Toyota Camry versus the Hyundai Sonata, and was shocked by how the challenger has unseated the juggernaut of family sedan sales. Finally, Benjamin gets his first taste of the Honda Civic Type R, and spills the beans on a Canada-only secret: the Nissan Micra.

We have been testing a few powerful cars recently which is fine for the rev head but what about the practical runabout. The Honda Jazz is classified in the Light car class which is the second smallest in the sedan category. Only the Micros are smaller. In this class there are 14 competitors and in year-to-date terms the Hyundai Accent is the top seller followed by Mazda2, Toyota Yaris, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, Kia Rio. Errol Smith and I have just been trying out the Honda Jazz and he joins me on the line now. Originally aired on 3 June 2017. For past programs and individual segments visit www.drivenmedia.com.au
We have recurring guest Nick Tragianis from Driving.ca in the studio, along with Adi, Louis, and a very anxious Jerry. About to play the rental car lottery on a personal road trip, Jerry discusses the very rational car guy fear of the "or similar" concept. Cars up for discussion this week include the Porsche 718 Cayman (manual!), the all-new Subaru Impreza, and Nick's recent drive of the Dodge Challenger GT. We also talk about the Canadian International Auto Show, with hits such as the new Aston Martin hypercar, the reinvented 911 by Singer, and the world debut of the Hyundai Accent. Adi and Jerry have also purchased new cars, and we talk about them and reveal what machines the boys have brought home.

I'm back to work after Christmas break, and so fittingly I've got an episode recorded while commuting in The Silver Bullet (my silver Hyundai Accent hatchback.) The Toyota Prius C, the fourth model in the Prius family, is the shortest, narrowest, lightest and thus most fuel efficient of the hugely successful carmaker's hybrid lineup. The gasoline engine in the Prius has been reduced from 1.8 liters of displacement in the original Prius to 1.5 liters, and its dual electric motors are also smaller. Combined, there's only 99 horsepower in the Prius C, while the original Prius has 135 horsepower. The C in the Prius C, according to Toyota, translates to "city," and it's being promoted as a new urban option with superior economy. It makes a lot of sense as fuel prices continue to rise and lower purchase prices in cars continue to attract more buyers. As such, the Prius C is overtly appealing. Gas mileage averages are 53 mpg city/46 mpg highway and 50 mpg combined. The Prius C sticker price begins at about $19,000, about $4,000 less than its oldest sibling. And the gas mileages in the city and highway averages are high than the original Prius. Not surprisingly, reviews of the Prius C have been positive. Here are snippets from three reviews and links to the full reviews. David Thomas/Cars.com "In terms of driving performance, the Prius c is about as exciting as you might predict, which is not very. But compare it with traditional high-mileage subcompacts like the Hyundai Accent and Ford Fiesta, and it gives up little ground, despite its sub-100-hp rating. Toyota said it can reach 60 mph in 11.5 seconds, but the car seemed faster merging onto the highway." "During a number of driving routes of between 20 and 50 miles apiece, the worst mileage my driving partner and I returned was 46.6 mpg, while the best was 54.4 mpg. The tests were done in hilly California in optimal 60-degree weather. While coasting downhill, you can shift the Prius c into a B mode for aggressive brake regeneration to fill the hybrid battery to its maximum level." Full review: Toyota Prius C John Heilig/AutoChnnel.com "There are some features of the Prius c that make it more attractive than the original. For example, the battery pack is now located under the rear seat, making it possible to make the rear seat backs fold to increase trunk cargo capacity." "The rear seats themselves are tight. Toyota's claim that the Prius c is a five-seater is very optimistic. The revised battery location also lowers the center of gravity, which contributes to better handling. Even with a fairly conventional MacPherson strut front suspension and torsion beam rear, handling is very good. I wouldn't put it in the sports car class, but if you're in a city and you have to duke it out with taxi cabs, it's nice to know you have a car that can hold its own." Full Review: Toyota Prius Edmunds.com "It's worth noting that this is little different from the regular Prius liftback's 51/48/50 mpg rating. However, the C's sticker price starts in the $19,000 range . . . And for this outlay you still get a fairly roomy interior, decent utility and improved driving dynamics." "On the downside, the Prius C isn't quite as refined. The ride quality is a bit harsh at times, for instance, and the interior has an overabundance of hard plastics, giving the C a definite economy-car feel. But overall we think the 2012 Toyota Prius C's strengths outweigh its weaknesses. It handily beats its closest competitors in terms of price, it's ahead of the Honda CR-Z and Insight in terms of fuel economy, and it has a nice price advantage over the regular Prius."
