Fat-Burning Man by Abel James (Video Podcast): The Future of Health & Performance
What's better for longevity—running or walking? It's a bit of a trick question. But if there is one answer, it's definitely walking. If you want to be fit and live for a long time, you don't need to subject yourself to suffer fests and slog through long runs. In fact, when you combine daily walks with the habit of sprinting just about once a week, magic starts to happen. Today, I'm thrilled to be joined once again by our friend Mark Sisson, New York Times bestselling author and founder of Primal Kitchen and Peluva minimalist shoes. Mark had an incredible career as an elite endurance athlete, qualifying for the 1980 Olympic trials in the marathon. But as you'll hear, his high-mileage running habit ultimately took a toll, leading him to rethink everything he thought he knew about fitness and longevity. In his new book, Mark makes a compelling case that we humans are actually born to walk, not necessarily run, and that walking is one of the most powerful and most underrated tools we have for improving our health, body composition, and quality of life. As usual, this conversation challenges mainstream fitness dogma, and Mark always brings the receipts. In this conversation with Mark, you'll hear: Why effective exercise includes walking, strength training, and sprinting (but not necessarily jogging or running) How “biohacking” is broken Why stem cell treatments might be more dangerous than we thought What longevity really means And much more… Read the show notes: https://fatburningman.com/mark-sisson-why-walking-beats-running-for-longevity/ Pick up Mark's new book, “Born To Walk” on Amazon or wherever books are sold. Beatgridding your music has been a necessary evil for digital DJs who want to use features like sync, loop, beat-tied effects, accurate hotcues, and so on, for many years. However, while beatgridding 2.0 improved on beatgridding 1.0 by handling songs with slightly varying BPMs a little bit better, not much has changed over the years – until now, that is – because new software is now able to use AI to basically kill manual beatgridding entirely. People, beatgridding 3.0 is here – and we talked about it in this pod, and what it might mean for DJs.We moved on to talk about audio engineering for DJs and why it's important for DJs to have at least a basic grasp of what audio engineering is, and how they can use it in their hobby. Whether it's simply tidying up individual songs or making DJ mixes sound better, or going further and extracting audio from bigger pieces of work for use as a DJ, knowing your way around audio editors, audio repair software, and even audio routing software is a surefire way to improve what you're capable of doing… way before you get to your decks. And finally, this month we looked at motorised platters, spinning jogwheels, and asked the question: Why? They haven't gone away, which you might expect to have happened since turntables stopped appearing in DJ booths, and – lo and behold – now even turntables are on the way back. What is the enduring appeal of having something spinning on your DJ gear? We came up with some answers. As ever, this pod is supported 100% by the students of Digital DJ Tips and it was recorded in a live webinar with lots of student feedback. If you enjoy it, and you can, please do give us a five star rating on Apple Podcasts. It really does make a difference. Két nagy jelentőségű új uniós szabályozást mutat be az ArubaCloud podcastsorozatának az újabb epizódja. A digitális szolgáltatásokkal és a digitális piaci működéssel kapcsolatos szabályozás, a Digital Services Act (DSA) és a Digital Markets Act (DMA) a magyar környezetben is hamarosan hatályossá válik. Várhatóan a DSA hozzájárul a jogsértő tartalmak visszaszorításához, az online hirdetések átláthatóvá tételéhez és a félrevezető információk terjedésének megnehezítéséhez, a DMA pedig a digitális gazdaságot igazságosabbá teszi és növeli a verseny lehetőségét. E podcastsorozat műsorvezetője Puchard Balázs, az ArubaCloud marketing menedzsere (képünkön balról) és Mester Sándor két nagy jelentőségű új uniós szabályozást mutat be szakértő vendégük segítségével. Dr. Kolejanisz Márk ügyvéddel, több közjogi témájú könyv társszerzőjével (képünkön jobbról) sorra veszik a két új szabályozás fontos elemeit és várható hatását a digitális médiára és gazdaságra.

We are stewards of God's resources – this has always been the way we, Christians, understand our relationship to God and our possessions. Because the Bible makes it clear that God is the true owner of everything, all that we have comes from him and we have a responsibility to manage His resources wisely on his behalf. But, how do we become good and joyful stewards of God's resources? Our guest today, Todd Harper, of Generous Giving Foundation, sheds light on what makes a joyful and wise steward of God's resources. Having worked closely with high-net-worth families and individuals in creating a national movement of generosity for more than two decades, Todd has gained a deep understanding of the qualities of a joyful and wise steward. He describes how a wise steward thinks and acts while using resources, skills, gifts, and time in ways that matter to God. We'll look at examples of how to work toward becoming a good steward as Todd also shares some stories and Bible verses to encourage you in your journey of godly stewardship.Key Points From This Episode: Todd introduces himself and gives background information about Generous Giving, an organization that he co-founded to start a national movement of generosity. Why and how Generous Giving was created and its present reach and scale. What are the “Five P's of a Transformational Experience” in the giving journey? How did God prepare Todd for his role in Generous Giving? Tranquility. Peaceful. Yoga. Meditation. Still… We sing and dance and jump into the seas and oceans. We need the lake instead, sometimes. Or is it coming when the time comes? Should we have those rollercoasters, ups, downs, waves, noice and then go to the lake? Lakes are still so that you can look into them and see yourself. As if they tell you to calm down, look at your reflection, take that grimace off your face… Look into the face, into the lake, inside you… One, two, one two… Running shoes on the pathway… Misty… He sees the warmth of the air from his body evaporating, as if he is smoking. One, two, one two… He never thought he would jog in such a weather… Is it +2 or +4 maximum? Or is it freezing?… Maybe… One, two, one two… Breath… Keep it steady… One, two… Keeping the pace… All by himself… Jogging… His Nikes… One two… One, two… He is not cold, he feels he’s in control… He thinks where he is… One, two, one, two… Shoes he is looking at and looking ahead… All greed but already getting yellower… Fall… Late fall is it? So cold… Or perhaps it’s because it’ve very early in the morning… Or perhaps it’s the winter already… One, two, one, two, – jogging… Around the lake… Swans, ducks, some early risers, so quite… So peaceful. It’s just hime, he thinks, around the lake… Or is it a pond?.. That’s a small one… It will be around, half circle and then along the Serpentine… And back… About 5 or 6 km it will be… Jogging… Past Kensington Palace, Italian Gardens… Small crossing… Into Hyde Park… Round Pond… Then Serpentine… Jogging… Alone… London… This is when he seems highest… Achieved… There… The Banker, jogging 6:30 am past Kensington Palace… Around the pond, around Hyde Park… Back to Notting Hill Gate, Pembridge Gardens… All good, all cool… He. Lake. Mist. Shoes. One, two, one two… He quit. He returned. Back home. Away from London. Thank you Hyde Park. Thank you, Lake. Thank you, mornings… it’s you, perhaps, that showed me myself. He thinks… If he misses anything from London, that’s those mornings… One, two, one, two… Swans in the lake… Tranquility. Peaceful. Jogging around the lake. One, two, one, two… Home is better, he decided. Was it for the lake and those mornings that helped him make up his mind? Well… It was so peaceful… One, two, one, two… He… Jogging… His shoes… Around the lake… 6 to 7 am… Home is better. Welcome to the episode 11 of the LDS MissionCast. Our special guest on this episode is cartoonist and illustrator, Brittany Long Olsen. She has a really cool book out called Dendo: One Year and One Half in Tokyo. This book is actually her mission journal that she kept in graphic or comic book form. Not only is it an interesting way to keep a journal but it captures the mission experience in a way that is refreshing and real. To win an autographed copy of Dendo, find the posting for this episode on Facebook (click here) and share this post on your facebook page. We will choose a winner from the people who share this episode on Facebook and make sure the LDS MissionCast page is connected to your post or we won't see it. Good luck! In our Latter-day Lives segment we have some mission stories from improv comedians, Ken and Katie Craig, who share a story from their son who is currently serving a mission in Brazil. There is both a funny story and an inspirational one as well. Listen to their full interview on the Latter-day Lives Podcast by clicking here. The last segment is a bit of a personal reflection from host, Nick Galieti, about the importance of journal keeping, and includes a tribute to mission companions. This includes a brief tribute to a mission companion, Robert Beau Clark, that passed away in 2014. Music for this episode comes from Maddy Vance, this super talented LDS Musician who is currently a freshman at BYU, but who talent is beyond her years. You can listen to her music at Maddyvance.com
