Is building a relationship with your readers a good idea? The answer is yes, but not in the way that you might think. In this episode of Author Platform Rocket your host Jonny Andrews talks about how to segment your followers and focus on the ones who will explode your sales. Download PDF Podcast Transcription You do not need to build intimate relationships with your readers, but it makes sense to define what the relationship means. What the Kardashian Effect is and why it matters to you. The core pillars to focus on in your business. People buy from those they know, like, and trust. Create that bond by showing up consistently. Answer the question - what must I demonstrate to be true in order for people to buy my books? Show up as the most awake, authentic, and real version of yourself. How to systematically differentiate between your core followers and the fringe people. You have to show up for the people who are really hungry for your content. Download PDF Podcast Transcription 3 Key Points: A relationship is just a bond between the reader and you, but there can also just be a relationship between the reader and the book. Building relationships does not have to happen in the conventional sense. You need to differentiate between your core audience and your fringe followers. Tweetable Quotes: “You don’t have to build a first-name basis relationship with your readers, it’s a business-level relationship.” -Jonny “You don’t have to be anyone other than who you are to promote your book.” -Jonny “In order to help yourself become more profitable, you have to learn to grow a white-hot circle in the center.” Resources Mentioned: Learn more about Author Platform Rocket. https://www.facebook.com/AuthorPlatformRocket/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/authormarketingassociation/ Reach out to Jonny at show@authorplatformrocket.com Become more profitable at profitableauthorcall.com

How to sell a bunch of children’s books in a way that bucks conventional wisdom with your host Jonny Andrews. Download PDF Podcast Transcription Why you should market to parents when selling children’s books. Decide what your theme is going to be. Screen time before bed is terrible for kids, and that’s why books are a great idea. Why giveaways are a great idea when promoting your children’s book. After connecting, you need to stand out in everyone’s minds. Promote your video content on a page, not a group. Make it about your audience, but build your ecosystem. People buy more from those they know, like, and trust. Audience and the connection you have with them, are everything. Consistency is key.  Download PDF Podcast Transcription 3 Key Points:  Have a common theme and running concept through your book series. Build an audience using other people in your market who connect with your books theme. The days of organic traffic are gone, learn to target with paid ads. Tweetable Quotes: “What is the theme of your children’s books, and how are you going to promote it to parents?” -Jonny “You can’t just sell the books, you have to get an audience of people who want to buy the books.” “Capture, connect, and convert.”   Resources Mentioned: Done For You Author Marketing Author Platform Rocket. How to sell erotic romance literature without hitting roadblocks in social media advertising with your host Jonny Andrews.   Download PDF Podcast Transcription Click here to watch the Live Video training in FaceBook Social media ads for erotic novels tend to get shot down if they try to run like everyone else. Facebook looks at what’s in your ad and what’s on the page you’re linking your audience to.  Keep that in mind before running an ad If you have "objectionable content" in your books or on your book page it'll be a good idea to create a "bridge page" between your ad and your "dirty stuff".  You have to get creative about how you talk about erotica just like they did back in the 1950's & 1960's.  It’s normal to get your ad rejected, you often have to appeal for no reason at all. Create a follow-up sequence with your audience to stay front of mind.  Download PDF Podcast Transcription 3 Key Points: Erotic romance is often difficult to do an ad for, but there are ways around it. Creating a “bridge page” can allow you to create an ad. Expect to get your ads rejected, plan to appeal. Tweetable Quotes: “Just because you can’t send someone directly to the offer, doesn’t mean you can’t make money.” “If you’re having trouble selling erotica, you need to capture, connect, convert.” “A lot of authors get gun-shy about the automatic rejection of ads, but it’s normal.”   Resources Mentioned: Live video training to go with this Done For You Author Marketing Author Platform Rocket. During this 50th episode of Author Platform Rocket, host Jonny Andrews and anonymous guest, ¨Mr. X, discuss the evolution of book marketing strategies from how it ¨used to be¨ to what it is today. The two discuss the power of conversational conversion and what it means to connect authentically with the audience. With all the different means of connecting with fans, Jonny and Mr. X outline the modes they have had the most success using. Download PDF Podcast Transcription Introduction of guest X, famous, successful author protected by anonymity. X has a love for books and ended up without a job. 5 Years ago Mr. X published the first book. The evolution of book sales has transformed from word of mouth to more technological path The key to selling books is conecting to people, capturing them, and eventually converting. People have to know you to be able to sell books. You have to be able to stand-out when you write a book. Today, to keep up with the market, you have to publish the book, advertise, connect with the public, AND stand-out. Conversational conversion is the art of selling without selling. Being who you are is the best way to sell. A new strategy that allows writers and readers to connect--aka taco tuesday. Connecting with authneticity is the new way to convert and sell. Your social media followers don´t matter if you aren´t interacting with them and they aren´t interacting with you. Engage your subscriber base in an interesting way Sales increased by 300% because Mr. X found a new, authentic way to connect with people--the power of taco tuesday. Ask and you shall receive: ask your fans what they want. The ways that Mr. X leverages facebook live. Going out and meeting someone is the best business builder. The way you can build different audiences in facebook. The connection and capture phases of the business can be merged. Connection is not a one and done process. Download PDF Podcast Transcription 3 Key Points: The market shift in book publishing has now grown to incorporate social media aspects. Connecting authentically with your audience can bring huge gains for you and your business. Creatively connecting to different audiences helps to engage, connect, capture, and convert. Conversational conversion is sometimes the most successful way to grow a business. Tweetable Quotes: “You have to relate to people; they have to relate to you.. especially when you are telling a story” – Mr. X. “Be who you are” – Mr. X. “You are who you are. Let them [the readers] see you” – Mr. X. “One of the core pillars of communication is that people buy from someone they know, like, and trust.” – Jonny Andrews. During this 49th episode of Author Platform Rocket, host Jonny Andrews discusses the reasons why social media is a dead source for authors to get book sales. Before you get too concerned about how harsh that may sound, listen to the ways in which he recommends that you apply his capture, connect, and convert techniques to broaden and engage your readership. Download PDF Podcast Transcription Everything began when Jonny received a brilliant advertorial from a marketing guru It isn’t effective to hop on social media to keep saying “buy my book.” Too many authors post but then don't interact with their audience. Organic traffic on most social media channels will continue to disappear. Search Engine Optimization is basically a pay-to-play option at this point. Social media is now “social advertising” by engaging people with interesting content. Twitter is an enclosed platform where it isn’t a place for a lot of click-through ads. Twitter is best used for engaging one-on-one with influencers. Facebook is amazing for building an email mailing list using paid ads Capture emails by giving away a free book but don't forget to connect with them. Skipping the "Connect & Convert" elements to the 3 step process makes the end sale much harder To increase your sales do what other authors are not.  Download PDF Podcast Transcription 3 Key Points: Make sure to reengage with the folks that comment on your posts to create conversations. Social media users want to engage with real people, not slick, professional pictures That look like they came from a business. Capture emails with free stuff, connect with these folks and convert into a sale with video. Tweetable Quotes: “Social media is dead (for authors).” – Jonny Andrews. “A lot of people are just posting out there, but then they aren’t reengaging with the folks that are doing the comments.” – Jonny Andrews. “If you want to sell books engaged your audience.” – Jonny Andrews. During this 48th episode of Author Platform Rocket, host Jonny Andrews discusses the three C’s of increasing your readership of your books: Capture, Connect, and Convert. In this discussion, the focus is on the importance of the connection factor of this process, with reasons of why it matters and ways to implement it. Download PDF Podcast Transcription The Three C’s of gaining more readers: capture, connect, and convert. The publishing industry in general has so many authors and books being poured into the market. It is difficult to make a connection if you have no way to follow up with interested people. Getting distracted by disaster are those little moments and topics of our daily life that have the ability to suck us all in. Authors need to stay front of mind with readers. Set up your auto-responder sequence to check in with readers. Read a chapter of your book for a video and put it on Facebook. It is a choice to suck at sales. People generally buy from who they know, like, and trust. Have access to your assets by building your personal platform. Between capture and connecting is prospecting—and losing people is part of the process. Download PDF Podcast Transcription 3 Key Points: The connection end of gaining readers is most important because it leads their interest closer to a sale. There are over 1 million self-published titles made available every year. A good book is only its own best marketing if people know about it. Tweetable Quotes: “The single most important piece (gaining readers) is the “connection” piece.” – Jonny Andrews. “A capture moment is simply that they’ve raised their hand and said, I am interested in knowing more.” – Jonny Andrews. “Readers are probably not going to discover you. During this 37th episode of Author Platform Rocket, Jonny Andrews discussions the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and how regulations effect how entrepreneurs should pivot and shift in their practices. Learn about Truth in Lending and the importance of private policies. Download PDF Podcast Transcription  Around 2009-2010 there was a shake up by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) put laws in affect that included, if you are going to endorse an affiliate product then you need to let customers know that is what is happening. GDPR was not really created for small business owners, more for big data companies like Google but everyone has been caught up in it. There are lots of companies out there that sell tons of products and take those customer lists then sell them to third parties—this pre-dates the internet. Running Facebook ads, no matter where you are globally if you do not have…track-and-pixel on the disclosure on your website, that’s going to be kind of a problem for you. There are WordPress plugins that have the ability to sense where your customers are coming from based on geography. There are free privacy policies you can use on your website. Truth in Lending is not new. What should you have on your webpage, regardless of where you are located: 1.) Cookie disclosure. 2.) Privacy policy + what you do with customer data. The Checkbox is not necessary as long as you clearly explain what people are getting from your site. It is the people that are able to shift to accommodate new regulations and incorporate it into their marketing who are going to be around the longest. Download PDF Podcast Transcription 3 Key Points: Running Facebook ads, no matter where you are globally, you need track-and-pixel on the disclosure on your website. If you are going to do advertising, you need to have a privacy policy on your website, there are free ones available. Facebook ads and Amazon Marketing Services (AMS) ads are great ways to promote your book and increase your sales. But before you throw your time, energy and money at these, take a look at some of the pros and cons of each to help you decide which one may be right for you. Amazon Marketing Services Pros The ads are already put in front of people who are on Amazon looking to buy a new book. You can set up ads for specific keywords to help sell to just the right audience. Cons The analytics are slow to report. There isn’t a way to convert potential buyers into email list subscribers or get them to your website. There isn’t as much inventory when it comes to books as other products on Amazon. Facebook Ads Pros Easier to track conversions and clicks to your website. More comprehensive buyer data. You can create ads targeted to very specific groups of people, depending on their behavior or likes. You can direct people to your website to sign up for your email list and purchase the book directly from you. You can make other content, such as videos, and target those who engage with that content the most. Cons If the ad brings someone to a website to sign up for an email sequence, the conversion to buying your book may not be as quick. The ads can be intrusive to their intention of socializing on Facebook and they may not necessarily be in the mood to purchase a book. It may be harder to get someone off one platform and onto another. Facebook ads can be difficult and even expensive to those who don’t know the platform well.   As you can see, neither platform is perfect and deciding on what you want your long-term goal to be as an author may be a deciding factor in which advertising method you use. One more thing to note is even though you might have an easier time targeting Facebook ads to entice people to sign up for your email list — a function AMS ads doesn’t allow — you might also have luck using a draw within your book to encourage readers to sign up, like Pat Flynn’s companion course he made for those who bought his book. With any advertising method, take your time to test out different ads to see which ones convert people to buying the book the best, and don’t just throw a bunch of money into tons of different ads because then you’ll never learn what works best. “Get your buyer data and then take those people on a long term journey with you and convert them into people who actually like your stuff and do it without looking like you're advertising.” Bio of the Author in the Case Study: Jonny Andrews is a publishing expert and founder of Author Platform Rocket. Learn how to increase sales and turn subscribers into potential buyers. Download PDF Podcast Transcription Your subscriber base is the most important part of any author or businesses’ platform, and it is also the most neglected. The reason why a lot of authors are frustrated with the performance of their newsletters is because of how they have been grown—dwelling on the cost-per-lead. During this 33th episode of Author Platform Rocket, host Jonny Andrews breaks down what the GDPR or the General Data Protection Regulation for the European Union really means for authors and where all the terror and confusion came from.  Download PDF Podcast Transcription The GDPR is an acronym for the General Data Protection Regulation for the European Union. How much do you market in the EU? His data from earning by marketplace includes: United States counts for 81.6%, Amazon.co.UK: 13.4%, Canada: 2.5%, Australia: 1.7%, Germany: 0.4%, and “Other”: 0.4%. Don’t bother re-opting your entire mailing list and informing them about the GDPR for the European Union. EU subscribers merely need to opt in once with approval for their subscription. Situations like this happen all the time.  In the early 2000s, even Paypal had had trouble understanding what online selling was about. In the past, Paypal’s Risk Department froze $900,000 for six months in Jonny’s sales to investigate, but they have since changed these policies. This GDPR is an opportunity to clear out people that don’t want to be there, allowing you to focus on those that are engaged. The world is moving towards permission-based marketing, putting the power to the consumer. Download PDF Podcast Transcription 3 Key Points: People from the European Union, which excludes the UK, need to give their permission to be on mailing lists. You don’t have to have your entire mailing list re-opted and informed about the GDPR for the European Union. The world is moving towards permission-based marketing, giving the power to the consumer. Tweetable Quotes: “If you have them subscribe to any kind of lists, people that come from the EU, then you have to make sure that they know they’re there.” – Jonny Andrews. “You do not need to send your entire mailing list something about the European Union, and get your entire list re-opted.” – Jonny Andrews. “Don’t go ask other people that are equally or more so freaked out about the same thing you are for advice.” – Jonny Andrews. And for the first time, digital sales of manga have outpaced print sales. Digital sales were up 17.2% from the previous year, versus print sales falling 14.4% over last year’s numbers. What makes this interesting is that manga is currently underserved in digital markets. As the rise in popularity starts to indicate a shift in interest from consumers, this could lead to opportunities for some willing and able digital publishers out there. No? You probably should, because internet piracy is huge in Switzerland, and impacts a lot of authors. The Swiss Federal Supreme Court is considering dialing back on its previous 2010 decision, which barred anti-piracy agencies from having access to the IP addresses of file servers used by internet pirates. The original ruling made Switzerland something of a safe harbor for pirates, but it also landed Switzerland on the US government’s watchlist, which is sometimes used to limit commerce with Swiss businesses online. UPDATE: After running the full test we ended up earning $2.71 in pure profit for every $1 paid out to affiliates Amazon, Nook, and other self-publishing book platforms don’t provide authors with buyer data. If you spend money on ads and aren’t getting the results you want it is because clicks don’t equal sales. Facebook is jacking up prices for Facebook ads and lowering the available space. These book sales tests used LeadPages.net to set up one sales page and BookFunnel.com to deliver books with a 75% off book deal. Good conversion rates are typically: 1-5%. Book 1 Test: Conversion was 23% with 51 sales out of 415 people in 8-9 days. EDIT/UPDATE: Overall total funnel conversions were 23% and the front end converted at 12% One Click Upsell: sales were followed with a Thank You page that offered the entire 6-book series for 69% off; it converted at 32%. We used ThriveCart to processes credit card payments.  We were able to offer ApplePay/PayPal & Stripe all at once which potentially increased conversions. Facebook slashed 55 million viewing hours to reduce quantity of time spent on the platform and increase quality time spent. If you are making your living off of book revenue on book publishing sites, the margins are low and you retain no buyer data. You need to run ads if you want a successful business. Tracking pixels placed on websites allow authors to see the results of the ads they are running. Facebook has stated that there is a 00.7% correlation between a click and a sale. CPC is a joke. Fear can make an author entrepreneur freeze up, or even worse, give up. Jonny shares the questions you need to ask yourself, the clarity of your goals that you should have in place, and ways to connect with an audience that is waiting for what you have to offer. Download PDF Podcast Transcription Confusion for author entrepreneurs is often caused by them seeing others doing what they want to be doing – but aren’t sure what that would be in their world. What systems do you use? What words do you use to describe yourself? Figure out what you want to do – beyond just a book. Pay attention to your numbers. An author entrepreneur uses their book as a piece of their marketing. The cost to acquire buyers for an author entrepreneur’s book will be more than the book itself. Do you want to do live events or coaching and consulting? Condense time and get someone who has done what you are trying to do to learn from. You need solutions that are tailored to you. Author Platform Rocket: Self Publishing, Marketing & Advertising Advice For Authors

How do you know it’s time to quit? Quitting often carries negative connotations in our minds; however, in this episode of Author Platform Rocket, Jonny Andrews challenges the stigma of just letting something go. For authors, it’s easy to become attached to our writing for the sole reason that it’s an extension of us. But, what happens when that one piece of writing just doesn’t sell? Tune-in as Jonny explains how we can objectively tackle our “failures”. He breaks down the steps we need to take to assess just why our writing is not performing—everything from determining who our target audience is to the length of time we allow for our marketing strategies to really take hold. And, if our efforts still come up empty, you’ll see why making that choice to quit is really a move towards your next win. Today’s episode is about how to know when to quit Quitting is stigmatized as failure Comparing your efforts vs the results is terrible way to assess “The internet is loaded with crazy stories of obscure authors” If you’re just getting started, you’re ahead of the game! Things you should ask yourself: Is there a directly reachable audience for my book? Who and where are they? Does my book appeal to this audience, so much that they would buy? Have I done everything possible to engage this audience and build an email list? Am I publishing frequently enough to keep my audience fed? You should be publishing at least 4 books per year How many subscribers do I have? Do they open my emails? And, do they click? All these questions boil down to a single point – do you have enough readers and are you giving them what they want to buy? If you’re starting out, build a reader-base of about 2,000 subscribers Use Author Platform Rocket to help you do this Get group author email swaps If you don’t build a business backed by paid marketing, you’re really not building a business Facebook Ads insights: After 2,000 impressions, does your ad have a unique click-through-rate of at least 3%? Does your ad have a relevant score of at least 6%? Your cost per lead should be below $1 for fiction and below $4 for the health/business market Are you getting 30 subscribers per 100 clicks? You need to quit using Facebook ads if and when these parameters are not being met Quit and restart Failure is a lab result, it’s a learning opportunity If you’re writing fiction, write at least 4 to 6 books in 12-18 months As an author, writing books is a labor of love Take writing and marketing actions on a DAILY basis “Give it a try time” means employing a strategy for at least 12 months You could end up making bad choices when emotions take the reins of your decisions If you’re earning a living from writing, start out small While using tools that track your progress, analyze the trends in your data Don’t make decisions based off the data you receive in one day Jonny has seen the trend of authors killing their efforts way too fast Give whatever you do enough time to ‘cook’ Sometimes, great things just don’t sell Most successful authors have one book that really didn’t sell well “Don’t hold onto the hope that somehow it’s going to work” Quitting can actually be the choice and action you need to take that takes you to your next win End of today’s podcast 3 Key Points: Always set realistic and measurable goals; track your progress and analyze the data from over a set period of time. Set the expectation for yourself that it will take time to earn from your writing. Don’t be afraid to fail. Instead, consider a failure a lab result from which you can learn and make better decisions in the future.

Jonny had talks with several authors in the past about their different marketing strategies There are a handful of authors who have rock solid marketing strategies And then there’s the rest who don’t have a coherent strategy, which is also normal A promotion schedule should be just as easy as a paint-by-number template There are different kinds of promotions and different kinds of outcomes You can set an expectation with your marketing plan Expectations should be in-line with reality Jonny focuses on PPC or pay-per-click AdWords and Bing can get expensive for most authors But, they can also be profitable if you know your numbers Jonny talks about Facebook ads The goal is to optimize the clicks to your book OR the cost per subscriber Most authors will run an ad and end it when they don’t see a result as early as they were expecting Advertising can be terrorizing for a lot of authors The longer you run your ads on Facebook, the more clicks you can get Facebook will know who to target depending on your parameters An ad will have an average run of 2 days depending on the budget “Facebook ads need to be a vital part of your marketing” If you keep testing, you will see results and what actually works Depending on your budget, you can adjust the buoyancy rate Your main goal for your ad is to get at least a 3% unique click-through-rate Relevance score should be at least 5% Test 6 different images in running an ad 2 out of 6 images will likely attract more than the rest If all of the images aren’t working, it’s okay to just start again The things that you should be testing are images, ad copy, headlights, calls-to-action, and target audience—they should be tested one at a time Facebook is the best place to build your mailing list Building your subscribers list should be an effort made daily It takes a long time to see results so just be consistent As time passes, the power you have in selling your books will increase Jonny recaps Facebook as the vital part of your evergreen marketing plan Newsletter promotion is the next vital part of your evergreen marketing plan It is simple and has the most basic expectation Most authors use newsletter promotions to measure their other promotions which is a BIG mistake Jonny talks about how to leverage book discovery sites Discovery site newsletter promotion is effective, but it needs to be coordinated within a 24-hour period You want to stack multiple stacks on top of each other in just 24 hours It laser targets the email tracker for multiple sites Authors love this because it works well The downside is you can’t run it very often It has a massive short-lived effect MAS ads are great for boosting your page-rate They fall under the slow-burn, long-term category of ads We stack long-term promotions then punch in short-term promotions In 2011, Jonny launched a site, I Love Vampire Novels, without any idea for how to promote it Years later, Jonny was able to gain 135K subscribers, 5 book discovery sites, 3M viewers weekly and helped loads of authors sell their books Build your marketing plan so you will become a juggernaut on your own Have your long-term Facebook ads build your platform and push your first book in the series combined with your coordinated book discovery site punching in every 60-90 days In order to do that, you should run a 90-day set promo or a free promo This tactic can lead to your slow and effective growth Newsletter building is running traffic to your website by having a free copy promo in exchange for their emails This can impact your selling power over time This is vital for every author With book discovery sites, rent a space on a group newsletter based on your genre—the goal is to schedule it within a 24-hour period You want to maximize the punch effect In the long run, your aim is to make your ads more effective, but more cost efficient How to make your numbers work is something you figure out from previous episodes Have list-building ads running all the time For single genre series, have long-term Facebook ads that push the first book of the series to hook readers and create steady traffic Rotate 60-90 days on coordinated book discovery sites and run promos twice a year or depending on your book release There are lots of promotional strategies that you can use, but the strategies that were discussed in this podcast are the most effective that Jonny has seen for long-term, measurable gains   3 Key Points:     Facebook ads don’t create immediate results, it takes multiple tests and some time before you see the gains.     Your mailing list will be your ultimate weapon in business; the sooner you build it, the better.     Set expectations that will help you track if your marketing plan is working or not.   Resources Mentioned:   AdWords and Bing – Site that help you with pay-per-click campaigns Facebook ads – Promoting your book I Love Vampire Novels – Jonny’s site

With the rise of Kindle and other online publishing platforms, authors now have the ability to directly access the public without having a publishing deal. The downside? Now, every author is competing with a flood of other authors. In this episode of The Author Platform Rocket Podcast, Jonny Andrews, breaks down just how you can compete with authors in the same niche. Jonny draws important lessons and truths from his own experience building his agency platform and why he was able to stand his ground for more than 10 years. Tune-in to hear the importance of tenacity and being resolute to your goals as an author en route to success. Time Stamped Show Notes: Today’s episode is about how you can compete with other authors in the same genre Jonny goes back down memory lane Jonny thought, why would people buy Kindle when iPhone just launched Apparently, Kindle sold out in 6 hours 10 years later, the publishing barrier left and never came back Authors can now go directly to the consumers which is the new normal This resulted in a flood of authors The question now is how an author will stand out from the flood A couple of months ago, Jonny had a chat with an author who was interested in creating their own agency program Jonny would always ask “what made you want to work with us” The guy answered that he heard about Jonny in 2014, and he’s the only one who was still around and doing well up until this point Jonny actually started in 2004 and achieved success in self-publishing in 2006 Jonny isn’t on Amazon Jonny started with his old laptop in a tiny bedroom that he rented at his friend’s house Jonny was also homeless prior to renting because he was a victim of identity theft that left him $65K in debt “Your current circumstances have nothing to do with where you can end up” Take small daily actions Amazon Kindle is a household name You can use this to become well-known in your genre or marketplace Stacking is creating a mountain with small pebbles; you make a pile every day for a specific length of time It is powerful and effective The goal is to be doing what you want to be doing Stacking is a simple concept that many people often overlook Most of your competitors don’t have the stomach to take the punishment Writing takes a lot of work, time and suffering People tend to get distracted and give up easily Your competition now may not be your competition in the future In every situation, you have a choice to stop or continue with the challenges When you choose to go after the challenges; in a couple of years, you’ll be the author you were looking up to when you were just starting This has happened to Jonny a couple of times After a couple of years, you’ll notice the patterns or cycles which will help you predict things You can now notice the changes in Amazon and Facebook algorithms If you keep putting out your content on a consistent schedule, you will keep on stacking readers and followers You’ll get to the point that when you hit “send” on your mailing list, you’ll already have a fan base buying your new book “It takes time to get there” Most authors focus on writing their pitches and they wait for validation from others “Don’t do that!” When you stack your pebbles everyday and take full control over what you want and how to get there, your goals WILL happen “Your ability to earn a solid living off your book is completely dependent on your willingness to stack your pebbles every single day” Don’t do anything crazy and just focus on the small and specific actions that you can take 3 Key Points:     Stacking may sound like a simple action to take, but the effects in the long-run are enormous.     Consistency is key—take those small, but specific actions EVERY SINGLE DAY.     Persevere through the challenges and maintain your focus; this is what will set you apart.   Resources Mentioned:     Kindle – Amazon’s platform for ebooks

Welcome to the first episode of Author Platform Rocket Podcast, a podcast dedicated to helping authors get a headstart for their books. Your host, Jonny Andrews, breaks down The 3 Steps to Win The Author Game. Many authors struggle with setting themselves apart in a highly saturated market. It’s not just about taking action, it’s about knowing the right actions to take in order to get you to that next level as an author. Listen as Jonny explains these 3 steps to get you on the right path of success and and why luck can be the “kiss of death” for authors. Time Stamped Show Notes:      Today’s episode is about The 3 Steps to Win The Author Game      Most authors struggle with standing out amongst the crowd      The combination of the right mindset and the right daily actions is what will make you WIN      Jonny Andrews shares how he was wiped out with identity theft o      It was a moment of ultimate frustration because nothing was coming together for him o      It turned out that Jonny wasn’t focusing on the actions that would “move” him o      He would run around doing things that were completely disconnected o      Busy is NOT the same as being EFFECTIVE      1st Step: Focus on what you can control      The 99-1 Rule: o      “You’re not going to see results right away” o      Be consistent and persistent      3 basic things that will happen when you start o      You learn o      You build up your name and credit o      The universe will test your commitment      Expect that this will take more time and will be a lot harder than what you initially thought      Most authors have to work because not all are lucky or make a fast break o      Luck can be the “kiss of death” for authors o      “Fortune favors the prepared” o      Focus on the daily actions that you can control      2nd Step: Your writing and marketing rituals o      Have a marketing and/or writing ritual that you will commit to doing every day o      Examine your business – Do you have a list-building ritual? o      Don’t wait for inspiration to come to you      3rd Step: Track your actions and hold yourself accountable o      Set goals for yourself and track your progress      Jonny shares what he learned at a Tony Robbin’s event o      Little daily rituals should be easy-to-complete steps o      Small actions compound into bigger results      Break your goals up into smaller steps      Don’t get discouraged over initial failures      Get the busy work OUT and over with      Make a daily checklist for yourself      Give yourself a sense of urgency      Your success as an author will NOT come out of thin air      End of today’s podcast   3 Key Points:     It takes time to gain traction – don’t expect your first attempt to be an outright success.     Focus on the factors you CAN control, not the ones you can’t.     Be accountable to yourself – set daily goals and track your progress.

Todays guest has a story that is fascinating for so many reasons. Number one due to the hustle that he has shown. Number two how it seemed that life was simply using him as a skittle and throwing obstacles after obstacles in his direction. The kind of obstacles that for many would be the end of the dreams, and desires for a better life. When he hit the age of 27, he knew that he had to take action in his life. He was fat, broke and miserable and living a life that was far from what he wanted it to be. So he started working twice as hard on a real estate business that would net him a nice amount of passive income each month. Not life changing as such, but still more than enough to start focusing on his next dreams. And that is where it all went wrong, as after a years hard work, and almost touching dream of the monthly income, he received a message saying that he had defaulted on his mortgage and everything went south. So what did he do to pull himself out of this hole that was not of his making? How did he not think "See that's why life is so rubbish" and just give up, and go back to being fat, broke and unhappy? Well, lets find out, as its with delight that I bring on to he show to start joining up the dots of his life, the successful podcaster, online marketer, hustle monster, and ex-fat guy...Mr Jonny Andrews Dream Jobs, Online Courses, Persistence, Personal Trainer, Decision Making, Publicity, Young Entrepreneur, Freedom, Addicted, Shawn Stevenson, American Hustle, Make Money Online, Motivational Quotes, Expedition, Challenges, Steve Jobs, How To Start A Business, The Secret, Rich, Online Marketing, Time Management, Blogger, Videos, Recruiting, Authentic, Travel Blogs, Ultra Running, American Football, How To Make Money, Online Business, Company Culture, Law Of Attraction, Planet Money, Jobs, Video Marketing, Linkedin, Success Principles, Digital Marketing, Action Taking, Starting A Business, Successful Entrepreneurs, Personal Branding, Amazon, Lead Generation, Career Change, Life Planner, Comfort zone, Simplicity, Break The Rules, Book Launches, Personal Finance, Secret To Success, Business Plan, Health And Fitness, Tech Startup, Self Publishing, Entrepreneurs, Love, Career Path, Educational, Creativity, Selling, motivation, motivational, inspiration, confidence, success, freedom

Here is the official version of who Jonny is: Multi-Time Best Selling Author, Publishing Expert, Entrepreneur, International Speaker & Business Strategies Consultant. The simple version of that is: He's a really cool guy, who always says what he thinks and tells it with passion (as you can hear in the episode).         Mentioned in this episode Audience Hacker website I Love Vampire Novels Food for thought and takeaways You really have to ask yourself - what is user's perspective on this? "Stop publishing garbage!" Don't ask yourself "how do I make money with ebooks", ask "how do I provide value?" instead. Always publish in series You have to understand that data represents the actions of living breathing human beings. They are not just statistics - they are people! You have to produce the book people want to read. Writers aren't marketers. You can have ugly website just don't have ugly book covers! Don't forget to get your free ebooks!
