In this episode, Chris Benzinger joins us to discuss navigating big and small life transitions. We have all probably found ourselves on the other end of a transition feeling unfulfilled or confused. Chris takes us through a reflection of Joshua leading the Israelites across the Jordan and relates it to change in our lives. We talk about why it can be difficult to move on from blessings of the past and how remembering with gratitude is the first step in walking through transitions. We also discuss the practice of taking memorial stones with us to remember the Lord's blessings, giving thanks in all circumstances, and growing a lens of gratitude. Join us for part two next week! Heather's One Thing - Festival of Praise at Franciscan University Sister Miriam's One Thing - Sacramental transitions Michelle's One Thing - Chris! Chris' One Thing - Michelle :) Journal Questions: What transitions am I currently going through? How have I experienced transition in the past? What do I need to remember with gratitude? What truth is the Lord speaking to me in my current circumstances? Discussion Questions: What are you most grateful for in your recent transitions in life? What did the Father show you about His character in the previous season? What are the greatest fears you experience when facing transition? How will you allow space in your heart as you experience changes in your season of life? How can you embrace both the grief of what has ended and the joy of the new adventure in your transition? Quote to Ponder: “And the Lord said to Joshua, “Command the priests who bear the ark of the testimony to come up out of the Jordan.” Joshua therefore commanded the priests, “Come up out of the Jordan.” And when the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the Lord came up from the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up on dry ground, the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and overflowed all its banks, as before.” (Josua 4:15-18) Scripture for Lectio: “Rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Sponsor - Our Holy Home: We're so grateful to partner this season with Our Holy Home — a Catholic brand that's on a mission to fill homes with beauty, subtle reminders of faith, and a deep sense of peace in the everyday. Mastering Interpersonal Negotiation: A Three-Step Guide Introduction: Greetings, everyone! It's a beautiful day, and I'm here to chat with you about negotiation. But not the kind you see in movies or boardrooms. Today, I want to delve into the subtle art of negotiating in our everyday interactions. I'm Chris, and let's explore how to navigate these conversations with authenticity and grace. Understanding Interpersonal Negotiation: Negotiation isn't just about hammering out deals; it's about navigating the delicate balance between expressing ourselves honestly and maintaining harmony in our relationships. Whether it's agreeing to a small favor or setting boundaries, negotiation is woven into the fabric of our daily lives. The Three-Step Process: 1. Honesty: The foundation of effective negotiation is honesty. Before responding to a request, take a moment to be truthful with yourself. What do you truly want, and how can you ensure that your actions do no harm to yourself or others? This step is about respecting your own values while considering the needs of others. For instance, if someone asks for a favor, such as picking them up from the post office, weigh your priorities honestly. It's essential to acknowledge your own limitations and communicate them respectfully. Remember, being honest doesn't mean being blunt; it means being authentic and considerate. 2. Tell Them What They Want to Hear: Sometimes, saying "no" isn't enough. In these situations, it's crucial to frame your response in a way that respects the other person's values. This doesn't mean deceiving them but rather finding common ground that honors both parties. For example, if you're unable to pick someone up from the post office, explain the situation in terms of their priorities. By aligning your response with their values, you can soften the impact of your refusal while maintaining your integrity. 3. Pick Your Fights: Not every disagreement requires a battle. Knowing when to stand your ground and when to let go is key to successful negotiation. Consider the potential consequences of getting involved in a conflict. Will your intervention escalate the situation, or is it wiser to step back? Drawing from personal experience, I've learned the importance of picking my fights wisely. Sometimes, the best course of action is to observe rather than intervene, allowing conflicts to resolve themselves naturally. Conclusion: In essence, mastering interpersonal negotiation is about finding a balance between honesty, empathy, and assertiveness. By following these three simple steps—honesty, framing responses respectfully, and choosing your battles wisely—you can navigate conversations with confidence and integrity. So, the next time you find yourself in a negotiation, remember to stay true to yourself, consider the perspectives of others, and know when to stand your ground or gracefully concede. With practice, you'll become a skilled negotiator in both your personal and professional life. Wishing you all fruitful negotiations and harmonious relationships ahead! Until next time, this is Chris signing off. Take care and have a fantastic day! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/chris-walker70/message

Before implementing The Pumpkin Plan, I felt like I was trying to market to everybody but getting no traction. What really helped me regain my focus was finding the sweet spot within my business... and that's what this episode will help you work towards, too. (And don't miss the quiz in the show notes!) There are three main aspects to this: finding your best clients identifying your unique offering streamlining your process You can start by listing your clients in order of amount spent. And as you look at the list, consider whether any of those top spenders are actually difficult to work with. If so, guess what? They're no longer one of your best clients. You can continue to work with this list, assigning "grades" to each of them, according to things like how frequently you've worked with them, how forgiving they are about mistakes, whether they've referred anyone to you, etc. Once it's whittled down to your best 20 clients, it's time to start examining what your market niche is and how you can serve them with a unique offering! I'm especially excited about this part of the process for the Pumpkin Plan Accelerator because we all know that sometimes we're so far in the weeds with our own business that we're not able to identify things like this for ourselves. It can really help to bring in some outside perspective; and if you really want an edge on your competition... have some conversations with your clients about their wants and needs! It's so scary, but so worth the effort because you'll know exactly how and where to spend your energy with what you offer. Then when you know what you're offering, it's time to systemize and streamline it. This will include doing things like delegating and automating so that you can best serve those big pumpkins with ease. Finding your sweet spot is a fascinating, humbling and eye-opening process. There are so many resources I can share with you inside the accelerator program that will help you through each step of the way! Listen in to hear about those resources, the structure of the group and who makes a great candidate for The Pumpkin Plan process. (Doors close in 2 days!) In the UGlu Hotline, I'm answering a question about certifications... are they worth it? When should you get certified? How hard are they? What do most people get wrong about certifications? Imagine a beautiful tropical beach cafe in the Caribbean. You're wearing your flip flips, a t-shirt and shorts. You grab a spot overlooking the ocean, open your laptop, and that's your office for the day. Idyllic, right? Just 3-5 years ago, this was not even a remote possibility in tons of locations where digital nomads now live regularly. The infrastructure (mostly wifi speed) just didn't allow for it. In some places you couldn't even get a call out due to poor cell reception! Every single year there are more and more locations available to digital nomads that weren't even a remote (pun intended) possibility previously. Jeff, Marisa and Diego talk about the 5 most interesting, up-and-coming locations that aren't quite digital nomad hot spots yet, but will be in the near future. When deciding what qualifies as a potential digital nomad hotspot, they consider: Wifi speed: Probably the most important factor is whether or not you can effectively work online and hold calls. Cost of living: Most high-expense locations rarely become true digital nomad hotspots as opposed to more affordable locations. Access: The ease at which you can get to the location from the closest major airport.
