Episode No. 701 of The Modern Art Notes Podcast features curator Scott Allan, and curators Will Hansen and River Ian Kerstetter. With Gloria Groom and Paul Perrin, Allan is the co-curator of "Gustave Caillebotte: Painting Men" at the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles. The exhibition, which is on view through May 25, looks at how Caillebotte's interest in male subjects significantly distinguishes him from his impressionist colleagues. A fine exhibition catalogue was published by the Getty. Amazon and Bookshop offer it for about $50-58. Hansen and Kerstetter are the curators of "Native Pop!" at the Newberry Library, Chicago. "Native Pop" examines how Indigenous people, and art by and of them, are central to the story of our popular culture. The exhibition is on view through July 19. Instagram: Scott Allan, Tyler Green.

September 12, 1987 seemed to start off normally for 50-year old Dale Kerstetter. He was a maintenance man and security guard working the overnight shift at Corning Glass Works. He had worked at the plant for 27 years. When another employee showed up to relieve Dale at 7 AM the next morning, he was puzzled to find the seat which Dale normally occupied empty. When Dale's truck was found in the parking lot with the keys inside, and his lunch pail still filled with food was found in the cafeteria, police were called and came out to investigate. A review of the plant's security tapes would reveal a disturbing occurrence. Shortly after Dale's shift, a masked intruder appeared walking through the plant. Dale is seen speaking to this personal briefly, then they are seen walking down the corridor together. Dale glances directly into the camera, and the vanishes, never to be seen again. That night, a quarter of a million dollars of platinum was stolen from the plant. Family, colleagues, friend's and Dale's employers have disputed the same question for years--Was Dale an innocent victim who was coerced by an unwanted intruder, or was he an accomplice to a brazen heist? Returning guest Elaine Erickson joins Megan to discuss the events of September 12, 1987 and the fate of Dale Kerstetter. For sources and episode information: http://143mysteries.comFor photos: https://www.instagram.com/143mysteries/Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/143PODCASTOne Minute and Forty-Three Seconds is dedicated to my number one fan.
When Dale Kerstetter reported for duty at his security job at Corning Glassworks in September of 1987, his family and friends never expected it would be the last time he'd be seen. Shortly into his overnight shift, an intruder is seen on camera; Dale is then seen speaking to the intruder, and then he is never seen again. Oh, and did we mention that on this same night, $250,000 worth of platinum pipe went missing from the same location? Was Dale in on it? Or simply at the wrong place at the wrong time? Listen this week as Sarah tells the story and discusses theories and details with Chelsea and Grace. Sources and more info available at kccpod.com

This week, we are locked in and caking out in Prague. On location in the Czech capital, Dara and David discuss their cashes in the Main Event and Highroller respectively. Dara talks about a particularly dicey hand on the exact bubble when he woke up with pocket aces. The Chip Race's former graphic-artist and animator Willie Elliot is applauded for his player experience-centric approach in his role as Customer Engagement Manager for PokerStars Live Events and with the exception of the egregious 15% registration on nightly hyper-turbos, our review of the stop was positive. There is a moment of contemplation for Unibet ambassador gone to soon Ian Simpson and a chat about GG ambassador seemingly gone not soon enough Dan Bilzerian. The episode concludes with a round-up of the latest poker stories, including Unibet Open back-to-back champion Padraig O'Neill's 'Mystery Bounty' big win, Jamie's Kerstetter's Toilet Glory and Vanessa Kade's deep run in the Wynn $10Million.
Kevin Tully and Matt Kerstetter develop our interest in the pod cast they brought, "Development Hell." In the episode they brought, Denny's has great accoustics.
Anne-Marie Slaughter is an optimist, and a patriot, and an advocate for both personal and national renewal. We talk about the difference between renewal and both reinvention (out with the old) and restoration (back in with the old), and what it means for our politics. We also discuss her work on women, men, families and equality, almost a decade on from her famous essay “Why Women Still Can't Have it All”; the need for more grace in both our public and private life; why we should be “calling in” in private, rather than “calling out” in public; the lessons in leadership from her role as head of the New American think-tank; the past and future of feminism; our long overdue reckoning on racial justice; how to prepare for the 250th birthday of our country; and the unique power of women after the menopause. Enjoy! Anne-Marie Slaughter Anne-Marie Slaughter is the CEO of New America and Bert G. Kerstetter '66 University Professor Emerita of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University. If floods are inevitable, why do humans insist on building alongside riverbanks? Todd Kerstetter, professor of history at Texas Christian University, tries to answer that question in Flood on the Tracks: Living, Dying, and the Nature of Disaster in the Elkhorn River Basin (Texas Tech University Press, 2019). Kerstetter examines a relatively small river system, the Elkhorn River basin in Nebraska, and describes the waterway's deep history. Floods happen for explicable reasons, and while humans have used the Elkhorn for thousands of years, different societies have found different approaches to dealing with the river's tendency to flood. The problem, Kerstetter argues, is not with the river itself, but rather with the tendency of Americans to build right up close to the riverbanks and staying put. Unlike many places in the American West, a region often defined by aridity, the problem of the Elkhorn is too much water in places were people decided to build towns. In the West, rivers and the people who call them home maintain a love-hate relationship. Dr. Stephen R. Hausmann is an assistant professor of history at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. Locked On Longhorns - Daily Podcast On Texas Longhorns Football & Basketball
Breaking down the way too early depth chart predictions for the Texas Longhorns. Starting with the skill positions. Who are the favorites at quarterback with Sam Ehlinger leaving for the NFL, is Casey Thompson or Hudson Card more in prime position to take over for Steve Sarkisian? Running back, WR (H), and WR (Z) seem to pretty cut and dry. Two positions that might be a little murkier are tight end and WR (X). Who could be in play?Segment No. 2 is all about the big boys up front. Samuel Cosmi is gone, so where do they turn for the new blindside blocker? Andrej Karic is the name to watch, he played 106 snaps in 2020 with most coming in the final two games. He didn't give up a single sack. Junior Angilau at left guard and Denzel Okafor seem like locks. Jake Majors, much like Karic, took a step forward as the center where Kerstetter was moved back out to tackle. At right tackle, it could come down to Derek Kerstetter vs Christian Jones. Money says that it is Kerstetter who wins that battle. The final segment of the show is about the new defense under Pete Kwiatkowski. He likes to run the 2-4-5 that looks like the 4-2-5. Who could be the outside pass rushers in this scheme? The interior seems a lot easier to peg with Keondre Coburn and Alfred Collins. Plus we look at inside linebackers, who could play the rover safety position and the starters in the secondary.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. When we start most jobs, we are told how to deal with dangerous situations, no matter how unlikely it is you'll ever have to deal with it. Whether that is a fire, violent situation or break in, it is important to be prepared but most of us will, luckily, never have to deal with these threats. One man, back in 1987, was not as likely. He entered his work to do a nightshift but was never seen leaving and it would later be found that a major theft had occurred in his work place that night, but was he a part of a criminal enterprise that night, or a victim who just so happened to stumble across a dangerous situation? Jamie Kerstetter has been a rising star in the poker world for the last few years, but her path to the profession was anything but typical. The New Jersey-native was a two-sport athlete at Rutgers University, and then earned her law degree from the University of Michigan. Her timing, however, couldn't have been worse. Kerstetter passed the bar exam and landed a job, but the recession caused layoffs, leaving her without employment. Rather than submit some more resumes, Kerstetter instead turned to poker, a hobby she had picked up in law school. Her original goal was just to win enough to extend her vacation, but soon, she was taking home enough to make it her full-time job. In addition to playing tournaments and cash games, Kerstetter has also appeared on Friday Night Poker, and Poker Night In America, and has done commentary for events at the Seminole Hard Rock, the Heartland Poker Tour, WPT Deepstacks, and even the World Series of Poker. Highlights from this interview include a playful croutons, soccer at Rutgers, running a five-minute mile, jumping into law school blind, inter-tube water polo, why someone would be drunk at 8 a.m., witnessing a mental breakdown at the bar exam, the blessing of being fired, prolonging the poker vacation, splashing around in the private games, convincing mom that poker is a good idea, the $2 burrito diet, playing her 'husband's chips,' big pots on Poker Night In America, overcoming shyness with live poker commentary, a karmic payout for a late night, poker couple note sharing, envisioning a life of dog hoarding, and lap cats vs. jerk cats.

What happens next is a first for an Unsolved Mysteries' update. Next we talk about Dale Kerstetter. A "menial" employee at a platinum manufacturing facility, Dale turned up missing with security camera footage of a masked man with him in the factory on the night he disappeared. Also missing, thousands of dollars worth of platinum piping. Did Dale stage the entire incident or was he at the wrong place at the wrong time? September 12, 1987. Bradford, Pennsylvania. 50-year old Dale Kerstetter shows up to work the overnight shift as a security guard at the Corning Glassworks plant. The following morning, Dale is discovered to be missing and he is never heard from again. A check of the security tape uncovers footage of Dale walking through the plant alongside an unidentified masked intruder and it turns out that $250,000 worth of platinum was stolen that night. The ambiguous nature of the footage causes some debate: was Dale an innocent victim of this masked stranger, or was he actually a willing participant in the theft before he decided to skip town? We shall explore both possibilities, as our latest minisode of “The Trail Went Cold” chronicles a very unique missing persons case.
