Jon begins our new sermon series on Ephesians reminding us that we are blessed by God.
For our Gift Sunday Jon shares how we can be all in for God's Kingdom!
AUDIO QUALITY NOTICE! Apologies, we have a little static on one of the mics during our recording - sorry for the occasional audio issue. As a project manager, an organizational structure that will have a big impact on your life is the PMO. But if you aren't used to working with a PMO, what should you expect? Are they going to make your life and projects easier, or crush you with red tape? If you are interviewing for a job where they have a PMO, what questions should you ask to get a better understanding of how they work? And, what should you expect from a PMO - and what are they expecting from you? With all these questions, we thought we should reach out to a couple of the most well known minds in PMO: Lindsay Scott and Eileen Roden. Their UK based “House of PMO” organization does some great things in the PMO space (plus they are a lot of fun!) so we feel very fortunate that Linsay and Eileen agreed to join us and help us understand a bit more about whether PMO's are our friends or foes. About our amazing guests, Lindsay Scott and Eileen Roden Lindsay has worked in and around project management and PMO for over 20 years and is a Director at PMO Learning, a training company focused on PMO. She is Co-Founder of the House of PMO, a professional membership organisation for PMO practitioners. Lindsay is the co-author of the PMO Competency Framework and editor of the Handbook of People in Project Management. She speaks regularly on project management and PMO career topics – and provides 1-2-1 coaching for those looking to advance their careers in PMO. Eileen has 15 years practitioner experience in a variety of project management roles (predominantly PMO management) along with IT and functional HR roles, with a variety of UK, EMEA and global responsibilities. Her practical experience is supported by both academic and professional certifications including a Masters in Applied Project Management (with distinction), AIPMO-E, PRINCE2®, MSP®, MoP®, Managing Benefits®, Better Business Cases®, Programme and Project Sponsorship®. She is now a Consulting Director of PMO Learning and co-founder of the House of PMO. She is the author of P3O® Best Management Practice and lead author of the PMO Competency Framework, co-author of Knowledge Management in a Project Environment, along with contribution to many APM publications. She is a frequent conference speaker throughout UK and Europe. You can learn more about all the amazing things that Lindsay and Eileen are doing around PMO and even join their great community at https://houseofpmo.com/ JOIN THE HAPPY HOUR! Salt makes food taste better, light makes the darkness brighter. Jon reminds us that this is Jesus' call to us, and is the root of being a witness to him. We are to be salt and light in the world.
Jon kicks off our new sermon series 'Go Fish', diving into Matthew 4:17-20 exploring why evangelism is important.
Jesus heals! He heals our bodies, our hearts, and our sin.
Jon shares on Galatians 6.7-9 and reminds us that if you don't like what you're reaping, change what you're sowing.

Jon challenges us to think about what one destructive habit, if we could stop, would make the biggest difference to our lives. The truth is there is no habit too great for God's grace.
Jon takes us through the second sermon in our 'Make A Change' series. He explores how our identity defines our choices and behaviours, and in order to make a change we need to start with who God says we are.
Today I am very privileged to be joined by Lindsay Scott and Eileen Roden who are co-founders of the House of PMO, a professional body for PMO professionals working to support Project, Programme and Portfolio Management (P3M). We talk about the need to brigade multiple projects underneath a programme level, the ways that portfolio management can enable change, and the value of PMO. We talk about how traditional and agile projects can fit within a PMO. Usually now PMOs now take a service orientated approach to ensure that the PMO is seen as an enabler to change within an organisation, not as the ‘project police'. We talk about the types of roles in a PMO –data analysis and relationship building. Both skills are essential. We also talk about how can you move towards embedding a PMO into any organisation.
In this episode I have a rerun of part 2 of my chat with Lindsay Scott, The PMO Mob Collector. Lindsay Scott co-founded Arras People in 2002 following a career at Esso and Hewlett Packard. Following her graduation from Manchester University, Lindsay went onto work within the recruitment arm of Esso before leaving to join Hewlett Packard. At Hewlett Packard, she worked within the professional services consulting division, first as a Project Co-ordinator and then the Project Office Manager for the division. It was during her time at Hewlett Packard, recruiting for a project office of 20+ members that Lindsay came face to face with the issues of recruiting good project management professionals. When the opportunity came along to set up her own business she knew there was definitely a place in the UK recruitment market for a recruitment agency that really understood its subject matter. Lindsay manages the marketing and sales function at Arras People today; in addition, she still occasionally recruits for PMO roles (because she can't resist!) and provides careers clinics for PMO professionals. Lindsay also carries out speaking engagements on project management careers topics and can be contacted through Arras People for more information. Lindsay Scott, Registered Physiotherapist and Acupuncture Provider at The Runner's Academy, Joins Me For A Discussion on How To Help Others Find Joy In The Sport of Running. Lindsay and her team are passionate runners, triathletes, and coaches who all share a commonality of helping runners find joy in the sport while performing it properly to optimize performance, recover, and reduce any risk of injuries. Linday's adaptive coaching model speaks to her individualized approach to every athlete who walks through the door. She emphasizes the importance of movement over anything else before tackling the running-specific "stuff." Movement is the pinnacle of what allows us to do hard things, and Lindasy is here today to tell us a little bit more about how her role with runners at The Runner's Academy allows her to do just that. I enjoyed my chat with Lindasy, as I always love connecting with other like-minded individuals who all share a common passion for the sport of running, fitness, movement, and doing things the SMART way. The FCS semifinals will happen Friday night in Fargo despite Mother Nature's best efforts. A winter snowstorm has socked the Red River Valley, but Incarnate Word left San Antonio Thursday afternoon and will arrive in Fargo for the game Friday night. North Dakota State returns to the FCS semifinals for an 11th time in the last 12 years, eager to return to Frisco, Texas for a tenth time. If they are going to do that they will need to slow down a highly potent UIW offense, led by likely Walter Payton award winner, Lindsay Scott. The seventh year quarterback enters Friday's game with 59 touchdown passes. The Bison are a banged up unit on offense, after injuries to TaMerik Williams and Raja Nelson in the quarterfinal win over Samford. Their status is unknown for the game Friday. NDSU may get the return of defensive tackle Eli Mostaert, who has missed nearly the entire season of breaking his leg in Week Two against North Carolina A&T.
Another week brings another prolific offense to Fargo as NDSU gets set to host Incarnate Word in the FCS semifinals Friday. UIW brings Walter Payton award front-runner Lindsay Scott. The seventh-year Cardinals quarterback has thrown 59 touchdown passes and run for nine more. He was instrumental in leading UIW past Sacramento State in Friday's quarterfinal and he'll be a handful for this young Bison defense.

In this week's pod we welcomed Lindsay Scott and Eileen Roden from the House of PMO to talk about how to get the best out of your PMO teams. Lindsay has a published author, having edited the Handbook of People in Project Management and published the PMO Competency Framework. She has experience as a PMO Manager and careers advisor. Eileen is a Consulting Director Trainer and Coach at the House of PMO. She has written the PMO Competency Framework and the P3O Best Management Practice documents. The main topics we discussed on the podcast were as follows: · A PMO exists to enable decision making, assist on project delivery and create an ecosystem for projects to thrive · There are different definitions of what a PMO is. Ultimately it depends on the organisation structure. Sometimes you will need to explain how projects differ from Business as Usual (BAU) · Some organisations are just focusing on Project Controls rather than PMO which is broader · PMO's are effectively facilitators. They can support with having the wider view of all projects within an organisation · PMO's need to match the needs of the business. Sometimes the quality of outputs will deteriorate over time if the organisation structure changes frequently · It is difficult to promote best practice across the industry because of the different organisation set-ups · Many organisations are seeking to demonstrate PMO performance through KPIs. · Project Managers will deliver projects, PMO's will enable better controls to review the project status · People are the key driver for getting the best out of PMO's · Data analytics will have a huge impact on the industry, however people skills are the most important skillset for effective PMO's · PMO will act as a translator between data analytics and Project Managements · The main evolution in PMO skillsets over the past 30 years has been in technology. In the last five years the key theme is managing agile projects · There are no consistent metrics across the industry to measure project success · There is no such thing as best practice. It should be re-branded as good local practice! · There is a debate between whether a PMO team should be permanent in order to transfer good practice and learning within an organisation vs whether they should be temporary to align with the finite nature of projects Here are links to some of the topics that were discussed: House of PMO: https://houseofpmo.com/ PMO Competency Framework: https://houseofpmo.com/competency-framework/ ----------------------------------------- Join us next week where we're joined by Elizabeth Harrin to talk about effective stakeholder engagement and managing multiple projects. “The fun part about running is every experience, every race, every training run is an opportunity to learn something. Put that into your back pocket and try to tease out what works best for you. It's kind of this endless curiosity of how do we just fine tune just a little bit more.” - Lindsay Scott After University, Lindsay Scott moved to Nepal, where she would spend the next eight months teaching life skills through sport play, leadership, and goal setting. The trip was also an opportunity for Lindsay to connect with the sport of running while discovering the community at the same time. The experience of running on her own terms gave Lindsay the luxury to fall in love with the sport without the pressure of competing. When Lindsay moved back to Toronto to pursue her Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy, running became a means to commute from home to school. Eventually Lindsay would connect with the Toronto running community as a Lululemon ambassador where she would introduce people to the joy of running. In 2016, Lindsay started working at the Runner's Academy, a health and wellness clinic dedicated to helping anyone who enjoys, or wants to enjoy, running. As a Registered Physiotherapist, Lindsay strives to get to the root of runners' issues and aims to get them back in action, stronger than ever; she also enjoys helping clients achieve their personal goals through a balance of education, manual therapy, personalized exercise prescription, acupuncture, health promotion, and injury prevention. Lindsay is not only a student of the sport, she's helping others recognize their true potential by teaching them how to be better runners and it's not just runners she is coaching and mentoring; she also runs mastermind and mentorship programs to bring together a collective of like-minded clinicians and coaches who want to excel in supporting runners! Lindsay is the President & CEO of Kids Voice, so it’s no wonder she finds the purest form of joy in watching her staff, board, and volunteers give willingly to help save children from abusive situations. For her, joy is about being present and in the moment. Lindsay sparks joy in others by mailing notes, making calls, or sending texts to people when they least expect it. She believes sharing joy can create a ripple effect by simply giving a little bit of your time.

The year was 2001. DJ Shockley was the 18th ranked player in the college football recruiting class. Interestingly, he was ranked one spot behind potential future MLB Hall of Famer, Joe Mauer. But today, we're interested in one of DJ's unheralded, unranked recruiting classmates, David Pollack. David came to Georgia as a fullback. Before his freshman season even started, he was moved to defensive tackle. By his sophomore year, he was moved outside to defensive end, where he would begin a string of unprecedented seasons, All-American awards and positional trophies. Oh, and he was the catalyst behind one of the most iconic plays in Georgia history (the only exceptions probably being Buck Belue to Lindsay Scott and several highlights by Herschel). You know the play.

In this episode I have a chat with Lindsay Scott, The PMO Mob Collector. Episode 209: Page to Stage: What can you learn in 48 hours? What can you learn when you put up a show from page to stage in 48 hours? Teacher and playwright Scott Giessler shares his experience. If you want your students to have an immediate lesson in problem solving this is the conversation for you! Show Notes Life, Off Book Finishing Sentences Oddball Episode Transcript Welcome to the Drama Teacher Podcast brought to you by Theatrefolk – the Drama Teacher Resource Company. I'm Lindsay Price. Hello! I hope you're well. Thanks for listening! Here is the question of the episode: “What can you learn when you put up a play in 48 hours?” I'm just going to let that resonate with you. Play to stage in just two days – not two months, not a year – two days! So, this 48-hour play project, that's what our guest did today with his students, and he's going to share his experience with this great project, this great problem-solving project. Aha! Everything is a learning experience. Now, I have to warn you, the sound may be a little wonky. When we recorded it, there was bad weather on my end, bad weather on his end, so that's what I'm blaming it on – weather! But what Scott has to say is so lovely. Oh, I really love this conversation, so hang in there. I'm going to hang in there. You do it, too. All right? Let's do it. LINDSAY: Hello everybody! I am here, talking to Scott Giessler. Hello, Scott! SCOTT: Hello! LINDSAY: So, tell everybody where in the world you are. SCOTT: I am calling from very cold, Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. LINDSAY: I hear you. I feel you. I'm hoping that, when this goes up, maybe it won't be so cold, but you never know! SCOTT: Yeah. LINDSAY: Scott, you are a teacher and playwright, so let's just start with the teacher first. How long have you been a drama teacher? SCOTT: I've been doing it for 17 years, and it's been a pretty steady job at that. I started in 2001 and I've been just working at it ever since. LINDSAY: What made you want to get into the teaching aspect? SCOTT: Okay. Well, I had another life before this where I was working in the commercial sector because I went to college and I wanted to be a screenwriter. After I left college, I went through several different jobs in the commercial sector, just in the entertainment biz – both in Boston. Then, I moved to LA and did a little work there. There was just a point where I started to realize that there was kind of that big, empty hole in my life of, you know, these jobs are interesting on some level, but I couldn't care any less about them. And then, it all came to a head when I'd gotten laid off at a job and I just couldn't imagine applying for any other jobs that were available. My wife and I sat down and sort of talked about it. We developed a plan to move back east to New Hampshire where I'd spent a lot of my summers. When I got here, as it turned out, the local high school was looking for a theatre teacher. So, things really kind of magically came together for me, all in the summer of 2001, and they hired me on a wing and a prayer because I had no credentials at the time. Eventually, you know, it started off as just sort of a stipend job when I was a study hall monitor, and I think I taught a theatre class in middle school while I was getting my certification. Eventually, they hired me on full-time at the high school. LINDSAY: And now, it's 17 years later. SCOTT: It is! LINDSAY: Okay. SCOTT: Unbelievably, yeah! LINDSAY: It's very frightening how time just sort of magically melts, isn't it? SCOTT: Lindsay, you ain't kidding. LINDSAY: And, the older I get, the faster it melts. SCOTT: Yes. LINDSAY: So, that's how you got into it. 17 years later, why is this the job that stuck? Why are you still in it all this time later? SCOTT: Man, well, you know, I'll tell you, I'm not really certain. I will tell you that,

This is episode 021 of the Waitin’ Since Last Saturday Podcast, the Georgia Florida preview show. Special thanks goes out to Jack and Walker for their spot on reenactment of one of Larry Munson’s most iconic calls of all time. Great job boys. It was almost 35 years ago. November 8th 1980, Georgia quarterback Buck Belue called the play L-76 in the huddle. With help from a key block by lineman Nate Hudson, he connected on an 18 yard curl rout to wide receiver Lindsay Scott over the middle of the field. Scott made the catch and raced 93 yards for the touchdown, Georgia beat Florida 26-21. It was a key victory for Dooley’s Dawgs, which helped catapult the UGA to the1980 National Championship. So, once again, it’s Georgia Florida week and first place in the SEC East is waiting for the winner of this game. Might Georgia still be on pace for a special season? Only time will tell. Listen up as Will Leitch, Tony Waller and Scott Duvall preview the 3:30 CBS game of the week, which takes place this year on Halloween.
