This week I have a conversation with award-winning storyteller and audio producer Megan Tan. You may know Megan (like I do) from her first audio series from 2014—a wildly successful documentary/memoir show with Radiotopia called Millennial. I've always admired her unique style of storytelling, and since Millennial she has gone on to produce shows and episodes for Gimlet Media's The Habitat, TED, WNYC's Radiolab,All Things Considered, Pineapple Street Media, and more. In 2020, Megan was named Producer of the Year by Adweek. An episode she made of the podcast WILD (which featured Megan's personal story about love during the pandemic) is my favorite of her recent work, so we began this conversation talking about love and dating in the pandemic. Then, we get into how her career has transitioned and talk about her most recent podcast, Snooze, a documentary-style show about tackling the things people put off – including something big that Megan's been snoozing on herself. I love it—I listened to it all in one day getting ready for this conversation with Megan. I felt particularly inspired after our conversation and learned a lot from Megan's bits of wisdom from her experience and her Buddhist faith. I hope it has that uplifting quality for you, too, whenever you listen. Comedian and author Ginny Hogan has written her first book I'm More Dateable Than a Plate of Refried Beans and Other Romantic Observations and we're here to give it the Bitch Talk bump. Ginny's book takes us on the ride of how silly online/modern dating has become and has some hilarious observations on how these apps could work a little better for all of us, like, wouldn't it be fun to have an away message option for your DM's? Fucking brilliant. We also chat with Ginny about her book tour, what sober sex is like (and should we give it try?), how online dating has become a job, will her book become a show, and more. Thanks to Ginny for her time and humor. She's a total treat. If you're looking for a fun summer read or as a gift you can find Ginny's book at Chronicle Books, Barnes and Noble, Bookshop.org (or head to your local book store and see if they have it on their shelves). What do women find attractive, and/or what do they seek when evaluating men as potential partners? How might a changing world have shifted this over the last many decades? If at all? I put up a poll on my social media account last year on the topic and got a pretty forceful response... so much so that my friend and fellow coach, Casey Sedlack, invited me to have a conversation about it, to take a deeper dive. I talk about a lot of my limiting beliefs around relationships in this episode. This conversation was helpful for me to get a better understanding of my own unconscious beliefs that I've been holding for a long time, and allowed me to explore them with someone I trust. Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg here. I'm curious to know what your thoughts are on this topic and this conversation.Send your thoughts to info@thisnakedvoice.com and follow on IG @thisnakedvoice https://www.instagram.com/thisnakedvoice/Find more of Casey at:https://www.caseysedlackcoaching.comhttps://www.instagram.com/casey.sedlack.coaching/Support the show (https://paypal.me/JoeyCardella?locale.x=en_US)

We got a good one for you this week! We are joined by guest Jack Moody of The Neighbors Upstairs Podcast (@theneighborsupstairs) for lots of laughs and perspective on dating in New York City on this episode. Jack discusses the focus women in New York have on education status, labelling them degree diggers, and how they relate that to one's current career - as well as their ability to make sound decisions. He then discusses his experience dating during the pandemic, including challenges with vaccination status and a very awkward Hinge video call. Last but not least, Jack discusses how he thinks dating apps highlight and lead to insecurities for both men and women - leading people to ghost - before sharing a J-Swipe date that went terribly wrong because of said insecurities. He also gives Ashley advice on dating in LA, including maybe, perhaps, trying to deal with the distance barrier by meeting the date in the middle? Does that concept exist out here?! In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, dating apps saw a surge in usage. In March 2020, Dating.com reported online dating was up 82%. Forbes reports that from March to May 2020, OkCupid saw dates increase by 700%. With more people using platforms such as Zoom or Bubble video calls to go on first dates, the question remains: Has dating changed forever? While online dating serves a purpose, nothing can replace being with someone physically, a point even U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy made during a recent video produced by the dating app Hinge. On today's edition of the “Problematic Women” podcast, we discuss Murthy's COVID-19 dating advice and how COVID-19 may have affected the way young people get to know one another. Also on today's show, we discuss celebrities Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker's recent engagement, and why rapper Kanye West officially changed his name to “Ye.” Plus, we break down what lessons we can learn from a crime committed in Philadelphia last week. And as always, we'll be crowning our "Problematic Woman of the Week."Enjoy the show! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
