We're spinning a heartfelt blend of classic country gems and deep cuts from legends and unsung heroes alike. We kick things off with Charlie Walker and Tommy Collins, bringing their signature twang and tales of love gone wrong. Bonnie Owens and Johnny & Jonie Mosby serve up harmony-driven heartbreak, while Ray Baker reimagines the Willie Nelson-penned “Three Days.”From the barroom to the dance floor, Eddie McDuff gets rowdy with “Whup It On Out,” and Louis & Audrey Stamey light it up with their take on “Cherokee Boogie.” The grit continues with Stonewall Jackson, Bobby Barnett, and the unmistakable voice of Red Sovine. In the back half, James O'Gwynn, Carl Butler, and Faron Young keep it classic, while Justin Tubb and Howard Vokes dive deep into lonesome territory. We wrap up with a strong finish: Leon Payne's morning regrets, Johnny Paycheck's defiant pride, and wild honky-tonk heat from Gene Hatton, Don West, and the poignant farewell of Joe Carson. It's all honky-tonk, all heart — only on The Honkytonk Jukebox Show.Charlie Walker - I Don't Mind Saying ( Columbia )Tommy Collins - Don't You Love Me Anymore ( Capitol )Bonnie Owens - Waggin Tongues ( Tally )Johnny & Jonie Mosby - Closing Time Till Dawn ( Capitol )Ray Baker- Three Days ( Manco )Eddie McDuff - Whup It On Out ( Giant )Louis & Audrey Stamey - Cherokee Boogie ( Klub )Stonewall Jackson - Not My Kind Of People ( Columbia )Bobby Barnett - Please Come Home ( K Ark )Red Sovine - Leave Me Alone ( Decca )James O'Gwynn - I Know You Don't Lie ( Stop )Carl Butler - Oh How I Miss You ( Columbia )Faron Young - I Hear You Talkin ( Capitol )Justin Tubb - Lucky Lucky Someone Else ( Decca )Howard Vokes - The Love I Once Knew ( Del Ray )Leon Payne - You Stood Me Up This Morning ( Starday )Johnny Paycheck - Pride Covered Ears ( Little Darlin )Gene Hatton - Wildest One In Town ( King )Don West - Too Pretend ( Kin )Joe Carson - The Last Song ( Liberty )Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/thehonkytonkjukebox/exclusive-content

“Why are you trying to do the Hitchcock stuff when your contemporary, Brian De Palma, is doing it much better? - Eric On this week's WHM, we're kicking off the Summer Blockbuster Extravaganza with a chat about the Robert Zemeckis ghost house domestic thriller, What Lies Beneath! Was this one of the last major Hollywood films to have middle-aged people being this horny? Would the movie have been better if they didn't confirm the existence of a ghost in the world of the story? Isn't it great seeing James Remar play an academic non-scumbag? How unsettling is it to see Harrison Ford wear a Rolling Stones t-shirt? And how many Hitchcock “riffs” can you cram into one movie before someone has a suit on their hands? PLUS: We take a count of how many Harrison Ford characters go… downtown! What Lies Beneath stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Harrison Ford, James Remar, Miranda Otto, Diana Scarwid, Ray Baker, Wendy Crewson, Amber Valletta, Micole Mercurio, and the great Joe Morton as Dr. Drayton; directed by Robert Zemeckis. It's been three years since COVID-19 brought the country to a standstill. In March 2020, the pandemic shuttered library buildings and prompted staffers to shift programming and priorities for a changing world. In Episode 81, Call Number hears from three libraries that expanded, pivoted, and reimagined their offerings to reach community members who needed their services most. First, American Libraries Editor and Publisher Sanhita SinhaRoy talks with John Schaffer, the voice behind Curbside Larry, the character who went viral in 2020 for his infomercial-style videos advertising curbside services at Harris County (Tex.) Public Library. Then, American Libraries Managing Editor Terra Dankowski speaks with Ray Baker, director of Miami-Dade Public Library System in Florida, about the Drive-Up Wi-Fi initiative the library started in the early days of the pandemic. Finally, American Libraries associate editor and Call Number host Diana Panuncial chats with Julie Curry, principal of John K. Hubbard Elementary School in Noble, Oklahoma, and Courtney Gerow, signature services coordinator of Shawnee (Okla.) Public Library. The two are behind Sunday Stars, a tutoring program helping elementary school students across several counties recover from COVID-19 learning loss. Is there a story or topic you'd like us to cover?
