Als einer der wenigen Release-Titel für die Switch 2 habe ich mich an das Remaster des 3DS Klassikers von 2012 gewagt, ganz in liebevoller Erinnerung an klassische JRPGs, welche es auf dem 3DS zu Hauf gab. Und Bravely Default ist definitiv ein sehr guter Kandidat, der dieses Genre super repräsentiert. Die doch recht klassische Story um die Wiedererweckung der vier Elementarkristalle wird verpackt in eine Oberwelt, Dungeons und Städte, gepaart mit Rundenkämpfen, Sammeln von Items und Job-Grinding. Die Jobs sind hier elementar, denn sie repräsentieren die Klassen. Jeder unserer vier Charaktere kann jeden der 24 Job lernen, allerdings müssen wir erst den dazugehörigen Asterisken einsammeln und dieser verbirgt sich meist hinter einen recht anspruchsvollen Bosskampf. Danach müssen wir die Jobs auch noch leveln, was Grinding erfordert, allerdings haben wir auch einen Nebenjob, welcher uns zumindest die Fähigkeiten eines bereits erlernten gibt, sodass wir auch ein wenig nebenbei leveln können. Aber dieses Leveln gehört irgendwie auch zu klassischen JRPGs dazu. Wichtig zu erwähnen sind die QoL-Features, wie eine anpassbare Zufallskampf-Rate oder Autokämpfe, welche dem Spiel gut tun. Überflüssig sind hingegen die neuen Minispiele,welche die Switch 2 Mausfunktion unbedingt reinbringen wollen. Insgesamt ist dieses Remaster aber vor allem für Neulinge ein sehr schönes JRPG!

Manchmal passt die Sache mit dem Timing eigentlich. Seit Géraldine Hohmann, die vielleicht größte Oblivion-Liebhaberin im deutschsprachigen Raum, zum Team von OK COOL dazugestoßen ist, schmiedet sie gemeinsam mit Dom Schott einen Plan: Sie will ihm die Welt von Oblivion zeigen, denn Dom hat diesen Rollenspielklassiker von 2006 bis heute nie gespielt. Und dann, Ende April 2025, kommt es plötzlich zum großen Paukenschlag: Bethesda veröffentlicht mehr oder weniger überraschend ein gründliches Remaster für Oblivion, das den Titel auf neue grafische Beine stellt und auch im Detail einige Änderungen am urigen Original vornimmt. Plötzlich spricht die Welt wieder über Oblivion – und einen lauteren Startschuss könnte es für eine neue Reihe „OK COOL holt nach“ gar nicht geben. Also: Ab geht's! In diesem Vorgeplänkel stimmen sich Géraldine und Dom nun auf das große, gemeinsame Abenteuer ein. Die Mission heißt: das Ding durchspielen und auf dem Weg sowohl das Originalspiel würdigen, als auch die Remaster-Version mit kritischem Auge ausprobieren. Grand Theft Auto VI promises to be the biggest video game (and likely entertainment product, full stop) in history. But unfortunately, it's been delayed. It'll come out just over a year from when this episode publishes, and a brand new trailer indicates it'll launch with all of GTA's essential trappings: Cars, guns, insane characters, a crazy story, and -- of course! -- lots and lots of crime.
