Трубач и педагог Terell Stafford записал альбом Between Two Worlds с великолепным составом музыкантов. Он пять лет играл в группе Horizon, под управлением Bobby Watson. Выступал с Benny Golson Sextet, McCoy Tyner Latin All-Star Band, Kenny Barron Quintet… ©️ 2023 Le Coq Records барабанщик Johnathan Blake саксофонист Tim Warfield пианист Bruce Barth басист David Wong перкуссионист Alex Acuña ©️ 2023 Le Coq Records барабанщик Johnathan Blake саксофонист Tim Warfield пианист Bruce Barth басист David Wong перкуссионист Alex Acuña ©️ 2023 Le Coq Records барабанщик Johnathan Blake саксофонист Tim Warfield пианист Bruce Barth басист David Wong перкуссионист Alex Acuña СЛУШАТЬ АЛЬБОМ - https://album.link/i/1694428813 LeCoq Records Presents - https://t.me/discor/5900 Rodney Whitaker - https://t.me/discor/6668 Carlos Henriquez - https://t.me/discor/6301 Rodney Whitaker - https://t.me/discor/4041 Лучший трек альбома в плей-листе JAZZ по-русски 7 на AppleMusic и Spotify Поставь лайк ❤️ и подпишись на канал JAZZ по-русски https://t.me/discor #bebop #latinjazz --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/konstantins/message

SONG-STYLIST, LIVING KIDNEY DONOR, FORMER FLYING TRAPEZE ARTIST, VOCALIST, MEDIOCRE GARDENER After eight years in Seattle working as a professional circus artist, vocalist and former co-owner of Emerald City Trapeze Arts, Kari Kirkland left the dazzle of the Big Top and the death-defying practice behind to take center stage as a full-time musician in Southern California. The Canadian-born daughter of two working musicians from the US, Kari's childhood was spent crisscrossing North America by car. She played in various pop, rock, cabaret, and jazz groups through the early 2000's in Canada and the US before moving to Europe in 2003 where she spent 4 years writing, recording, and performing. While working in Seattle as a private chef by day, and performing music at night, Kari signed up for a flying trapeze class. There, she met her husband, Gary, in midair; he owned a circus school and performance venue in downtown Seattle. They married a year to the day later. Working together, they produced professional large-scale theatrical circus shows. Kari's debut album, Wild is the Wind, arranged and produced by four-time Grammy nominee, Shelly Berg, is a collection of contemporary songs and jazz standards. Recorded at United Recording in Los Angeles with Dean Parks (Guitar), Kevin Axt (Bass), Gregg Field (Drums), Brian Kilgore (Percussion), three-time Grammy winner John Daversa (Trumpet), two-time Grammy winner Roy Hargrove (Trumpet/Flugelhorn), and Shelly himself on piano and organ. The project was engineered and mixed by Don Murray in Los Angeles, and mastered by Paul Blakemore in Nashville. While the presence of jazz greats such as Berg and Hargrove establish Wild is the Wind as a jazz vocal album, the selection of songs cross musical boundaries, ranging from Adult Contemporary, pop, and blues, with moments of Latin and cabaret. Berg's feelings about his decision to work with Kari speak to the talents of this newcomer to the jazz scene. “Kari's voice and style are uniquely ‘her'. There is a depth of truth and heart in her singing that is very, very compelling. I'm proud and blessed to have done this project with her.” In October, 2021, Kari and Shelly collaborated once again, recording 15 new tracks at Capitol Records in Los Angeles, this time with the legendary Peter Erskine on drums, featuring Carlitos del Puerto on bass, and Terell Stafford on trumpet. Just four days after wrapping at Capitol, Kari flew to Seattle to donate her left kidney to a fellow musician, and spent the remainder of 2021 recovering from surgery. When she's not performing, Kari enjoys exploring the desert she calls home, near Palm Springs, CA, and can often be found in the backyard, gardening and soaking in the sunshine. Her second album entitled 'if (when you go)', was released on January 13, 2023.

Karen Corbin, Chief Operating Officer of The Philly POPS, discussed the renowned orchestra's mission and their perfromances that take us from well-known Broadway and patriotic classics, through Jazz, and world music. She describes Philly POPS' concerts as all about having fun and experiencing all kinds of musical genres performed by outstanding musicians and vocalists and well-known guest performers. Led by Music Director and Principal Conductor David Charles Abell and Artistic Director for Jazz Terell Stafford, the Philly POPS are artists in residence at the Kimmel Center and they perform at The Met.   Beyond the Big Band and Broadway we've long known, the Philly POPS presents performances that reflect the diversity and interests of the city, exploring non-traditional instruments and composers. She notes that the POPS are there for – and in – the community, from trios at community centers, to performances at the city's most venerable events.   POPS in Schools – POPS in Schools@Home during the pandemic – is a supplemental music education program in 15 Philadelphia schools serving 3,000 students. For many students, it's their first introduction to brass and stringed instruments.   Each school's program is tailored to that location, including bilingual music education and after-school programs for Spanish heritage students.  All-City Jazz is the high school program for ten PSD schools which culminates in the All City Jazz Festival. The Philly POPS Salute Series works with the USO, Philadelphia Police and Fire Department, regional Veterans organizations, community centers and schools for celebrations for our community. Salute performances recognize the service and sacrifice of the military, first responders and others who serve us, with special opportunities including free performances on Memorial Day, July 3 on Independence Mall, July 4 at Philadelphia's Independence Day concert, and opening night of the POPS Christmas concert series in December. Karen wrapped up with a look at the upcoming season that includes their final 50th Anniversary of a Beatles album—Let It Be – beginning March 11, new Star Wars concert in October and their annual holiday celebration  with 300 performers, three choirs and a Singing Santa.  January brings a Modern Broadway extravaganza and in February it's a legacy Swing show with the music of the three divas of the era—Ella, Billie, and Dinah and conducted by Terell Stafford.   That will be followed by a singer-songwriter show featuring the music of James Taylor, Billy Joel and Paul Simon, and a tribute to the late Stephen Sondheim. But what is most impressive to me is how he encourages, energizes, and leads the next generation. Our conversation was super inspiring as we jumped around from various topics including fashion, conquering fear, dealing with the business of music, his unique take on ear training, as well as some nuggets of wisdom from a life spent among the masters. If you haven't checked out his work, I highly recommend his albums Gentle Warrior, Jazzland (his most recent release), and my personal favorite Spherical, his deep dive into the work and genius of Thelonious Sphere Monk.
