On today's episode I'm rounding out the exploration into each DISC factor with the 4th and final one, High C but not before this month's DISC illustration. World Music Day is next week, so here is DISC according to genre of Music:High D - Rap. Direct, ProvocativeHigh I – Pop. Upbeat, funHigh S – Jazz. Smooth, mellowHigh C – Classical. Precise, cerebralOkay, here we go – the last factor (but certainly not least!) in DISC; Compliance. This word is often met with distaste, both from those who have a High C, YES and those who don't!It's not exactly a fun word, is it? Similar to Dominance in sounding off-putting – the difference is that High D's don't mind it (LOL) whereas High C's do. And you may remember that with Dominance, I said there were a lot of D adjectives that are sometimes used and even swapped out to represent that letter. The same occurs with C. It is sometimes referred to as Conscientious (that works) Cautious (yep) Correct (totally on brand).www.discoverwhatworks.org

Isabel Lerma is the founder of Lerma Words of Healing and has currently launched her new podcast Heartbreak Anonymous. Her mission is to serve those who are stuck in heartbreak or grief reclaim a life of vitality and self loving gratitude. Isabel has been writing and winning competitions in writing from a young age, representing the island of Guam in national competitions.  She has written and won several competitions most notably in France for Fescetival, an original song writing competition where she placed 2nd place and performed this song during Fete de la Musique also known as World Music Day where she was noticed by a journalist and showcased for the Philippines News Show "Balitang Europe" of News in Europe, as one of the Filipino artists showcasing their talents in Paris. She started a writing group called the Drunk Writers which grew globally through word of mouth, which led her to travel and do writing and performance pieces, placing during the 48 hour film project and various prestigious firms who hired her and her team of writers, cinematographer, artists and musicians to create film shorts in short periods of time from 48 hours to 7 days. Throughout her journey in Paris being an artist she found the strength and self love to heal her own heartbreak and saw the benefits of how therapeutic her writing process was. She heard over and over how it helped so many introverts and self proclaimed non writers from the ages of 8-80 unleash the power of their creativity to transform their pain into art, some are now Amazon prime best sellers, fashion artists, musicians, successful bloggers and published authors. It is through this that she decided to make this her life's mission and vision to bring the power of words to heal, transform, and get to a state of gratitude. You don't have to be a writer, you just have to be willing to write at least 5 minutes a time, and she will show you what you didn't see in your story, how it connects to what is happening to you now, and how gaining a new perspective  that not only lets you rewrite the story but discover the gifts that your pain has brought you and use it to move yourself forward in action. That's exactly what Frances Raucher and her Californian research team suggested back in 1993. The theory spread like wildfire around the world, leading to much speculation about the so-called Mozart Effect. The myth comes from the publication of an experiment in American scientific journal Nature. The study required participants to listen to The Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major, K 448 by Mozart. After just 10 minutes, they were better able to solve spatial intelligence tasks which are part of IQ testing. Let's cut to the chase, does it actually work? How does music affect our brain ?  In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions ! To listen to the last episodes, you can click here : What is the thyroid? What is asthma? What is ecological debt?

The annual celebration of World Music Day on 21st June is upon us and Do You Really Know? is aiming to strike a chord with listeners. We'll be harping on about music all week long, covering related terms, concepts and famous figures. What is K-Pop? On October 15th, Big Hit Entertainment debuted on the Korean stock exchange. If you're not familiar with the company itself, you're more likely to have heard of BTS, one of the bands they created. In barely 24 hours, the success of the IPO had exceeded all expectations. A single day of trading was enough to bring the value of Big Hit Entertainment up from $4.5bn to nearly $7.4bn. Also known as the Bangtan Boys, BTS are the most famous boy band from South Korea, and a global music phenomenon. Particularly popular among teenagers, the group's last single “Dynamite” reached 350 million views on Youtube in under a month. So what's the magic K-pop formula? It sounds like a neatly packaged commercial product! In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions! Shakespeare's play Twelfth Night begins with Duke Orsino saying, "If music be the food of love, play on." It's perhaps a famous reminder of how important music is in our lives – be it to express love, to deal with a painful heartbreak, living in a moment of euphoria, or even protesting against oppression – music helps in communicating every emotion in any language. On this World Music Day, we listen to songs and read Urdu poetry on mauseeqi, meaning music. From Dilawar Figar's nazmMauseeqi se ilaaj where the poet is prescribing a dose of music to cure all the ills to Javed Akhtar's ghazal – we look at poets and artists who have resorted to mauseeqi' in their lives to soothe themselves. Tune in with your host Fabeha Syed!
