Nicki French is a twenty-seven-year-old, stay-at-home, freebirthing mom of four little ones. In today's chat, we learn about the art of prioritizing the intimacy in your marriage in tandem with moving through the daily rhythms as a young mother juggling multiple littles. We learn about what it takes to keep the flame alive after years of marriage while in the thick of it, how to reframe our mindset amidst the chaos, and we get the scoop on all the most fascinating logistics such as hacks for loading and unloading the car solo with four small children and shopping at Costco, transitioning from mom mode to wife mode during the day, and when to intervene vs. sit back at the playground.Follow Nicki at @nicki.french on instagramSupport the showJOIN OUR NEW, PRIVATE COMMUNITY! Shortly after Mike Stock left PWL in 1993, he purchased a building to house a brand-new studio complex and record label, Love This, and reunited with Matt Aitken to resume their songwriting and production work together. Although, over the next few years, the duo would release many more cover versions than original songs, having success with the likes of Nicki French, Jocelyn Brown & Kym Mazelle, John Alford, Newton (in Australia) and Robson & Jerome. Mike Stock joins us for one final time to recap the highlights from the Love This era and give his rationale for the emphasis on remakes, He also discusses working with Simon Cowell on quite a few projects, including the theme to kids' TV show Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and how the problems plaguing Love This, such as a dispute with the London Underground over rail work that compromised his studios and issues surrounding the release of "Santa Maria" by Tatjana, resulted in the label being shut in 1997. Mike goes on to talk about some of the work he's done since, such as tracks by pop acts Scooch and Girls@Play, and what he would like his overall musical legacy to be. Matt Aitken, Miriam Stockley and Julian Gingell also feature to share their memories of this era. This season on my podcast, Baring It All with Call Me Adam, I am highlighting My Entertainment Idols.Today, I am going back in time and Behind-The-Curtain to bring you this blast from the past, my 2013 interview with Nicki French, award-winning international recording artist, known for her smash hit dance version of Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart."In this interview, Nicki is Baring It All with Call Me Adam about:How she handles her success What she loves about musical theatreHow she decides what songs to recordWhat she loves about the creative process in putting an album togetherSo much moreSpecial Thanks:Theme Song by Bobby CroninPodcast Logo by Liam O'DonnellEdited by Adam RothenbergUnderscore Music by CutiqueConnect with Me:Website: www.callmeadam.comFacebook: @CallMeAdamNYCInstagram: @CallMeAdamNYCMore on Nicki French:Nicki was born in Carlisle, Cumbria to Mum Eileen and Dad Joe. Music was destined to be in the family – dad played the drums when he was younger, and mum the violin. Nicki's brother, Tim, is very musical too – a guitarist and singer who is a fabulous song-writer. However, her two sisters, Allison and Carolyn, stayed away from music – probably plenty to listen to already in the household! The family moved down to Tenterden in Kent when Nicki was four years old. Always a keen singer, one of her early memories was sitting next to the radio, listening to the new chart rundown and singing along to all the songs, when Auntie Sally, her Godmother, came in and said to mum and dad, "She'll be a singer when she grows up!"The first ‘gig' came at the age of seven, when Nicki was chosen to sing a solo - the first verse of "O Little Town of Bethlehem" at the Infants' School Christmas Concert! From then on there was no turning back! A few years later she won the local talent contest, and within the year had joined her first band, Krisp, run by Tim and his friend Kelvin. They worked the most salubrious places – working mens' clubs and holiday camps – wooh! From the age of 16, Nicki studied Music and Drama at West Kent College in Tonbridge, Kent, passing her ‘A' Levels two years later. At the annual college musical, she played the lead role of Laurey in Oklahoma!, earning rave reviews for her performance. She then moved up to London and started auditioning for bands and theatre shows. Not many know that Nicki actually was part of a duo in the early 1980s – name of Whisky and Sofa! They released a song called "Dirty Den," about the Eastenders character! It was played on the Radio One Breakfast Show and that was about it! Amazing though, it was written by an extremely well-known writer, Barry Mason. He wrote "The Last Waltz" for Engelbert Humperdinck and "Delilah" for Tom Jones. Credibility sadly was NOT in existence on "Dirty Den."Nicki started working the pubs and clubs, moving onto gay pubs and clubs a short while later – The Spread Eagle in Shoreditch was her first! However the most exciting show for Nicki was at the Player of the Season annual dinner/dance at Tottenham Hotspur FC – her team! They had just signed a new player and were introducing him to the fans – a player by the name of Paul Gascoigne, and Gazza and all the other players got up on stage with her to perform a couple of songs – a special moment. Nicki had been working on the gay scene for some time, when she made one of her regular visits to perform in a club in...

Eurovision legend Nicki French lets the boys into an incredible secret about her iconic purple jacket. The European Quiz returns for another week (unfortunately without a new name) and over a year early... who will win the first ever American Song Contest?! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Emil finds a friend in fellow Eurovision enthusiast Nicki French, who performed the ironically titled "Don't Play That Song Again" for the United Kingdom in Eurovision 2000. This is an episode with lots of laughs, and her love for the contest shines through when she talks about her further attempts to reach the contest and the covers she has made of many Eurovision songs, which we also get to listen to. The fact that she herself once broke into the music business with a cover of a Bonnie Tyler song somehow makes it all come full circle.Legend: Nicki FrenchSong: Don't Play That Song Again (United Kingdom 2000)Host: Emil LöfströmContact: emil@schlagervannerna.seInstagram Facebookhttp//www.eurovisionlegends.se See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Continuing on with Pride Anthems into July 2020, this 5th edition is a step up in pace and intensity. I miss the older style of remixes which would let each song take you on a journey. Today an 'extended club mix' barely clocks in at 4 minutes. This set reverts back to the old style with 10 killer classic tracks all in their full, extended glory. Kicking off the set is Lonnie Gordon's classic "No Regrets" given an uplifting mix by Marco Gee. The original "On The Bible" by Deuce is remade by Northernbeat and Almighty turn in a power house remix of X-Tina's "The Voice Within". 7th Heaven weigh in with 2 mixes for Kelly Clarkson and Loreen. Nicki French's cover of "Total Eclipse Of the Heart" was as popular as the Bonnie Tyler original. Wayne G. takes Anastacia's "I'm Outta Love" in a new direction as does Chris Cox on Rihanna's "S.O.S".. The set closes with Becky Baeling's epic "If You Love Me" which I'm sure you'll remember when you hear it. Uplifting and inspiring is all you need to know about Pride Anthems 5. Enjoy Anthony 1/ "NO REGRETS" (Marco Gee's Vauxhall Village Club Mix) - QUARTZLOCK ft. LONNIE GORDON 2/ "ON THE BIBLE" (James St James Remix) - NORTHERNBEAT vs. KLUBKIDZ 3/ "THE VOICE WITHIN" (Almighty Club Mix) - CHRISTINA AGUILERA 4/ "INVINCIBLE" (7th Heaven Remix) - KELLY CLARKSON 5/ "EUPHORIA" (7th Heaven Club Mix) - LOREEN 6/ "TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART" (Shanghai Surprise Remix) - NICKI FRENCH 7/ "I'M OUTTA LOVE" (Wayne G. Party Favorz is back with volume 3 of the Ultimate Eurodance Collection, which features the biggest Eurodance tracks of the late 80's through the 90's. It's only in this particular series that a song like "Barbie Girl" by Aqua could be even remotely considered a classic. I've always detested this song, yet here we are. The same could be said for anything Vengaboys because all of their tracks were virtually identical. They utilized the same Ibiza beat that was hot at the time, and maintained few innocuous lyrics, but were catchy as hell. It's this formula that propelled them to the top of the dance charts and many pop charts across the globe. I stuck with "We Like To Party," which went on to be the theme song for Six Flags and "Boom Boom Boom" and left out the annoying "Up and Down." They had several earlier hits but those three are what crossed-over in the North America. Another track that follows the same formula is "Better Off Alone," which actually spoke to me. I was head over heels in love with this guy named Pete at the time. We had a bitter split and when I'd hear that song, it felt like I was a sympathetic character in some John Hughes 80's flick. Some of these songs border on trance with Fragma's "Toca's Miracle" leading the way from the early millennium. N-Trance's massive "Set You Free" was an introduction to Drum & Bass with a bit of Freestyle and Trance thrown in making this song really stand out. Duke's "So In Love" is a massive house music staple with overtones of Eurodance but is nevertheless a personal favorite, thus its inclusion. Rozalla's "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good) and Billy Ray Martin's "Your Loving Arms" are a natural fit here even if the latter was naturally house. I've also included the early Abigail classic remakes of "Losing My Religion" and "Constant Craving," which were on a small label imprint but had a massive impact by bridging commercial Trance and Eurodance with familiar songs originally sung by other artists (REM and K.D. Lang). Speaking of which, no set would be complete without the epic Bonnie Tyler classic "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Nicki French who transformed the powerful ballad into a massive floor-filler combining elements of Hi-NRG and Eurodance. Equally, Livin' Joy's "Dreamer" and "Don't Stop Movin'" (the latter featured here) effectively combined house music and Eurodance for crossover appeal from the dancefloor to radio. There's a lot of happy memories to unpack in volume 3 and there shouldn't be anything that you aren't already intimately familiar with. PARTY FAVORZ ANNUAL FUNDRAISER I want to give a MASSIVE shout out to Anthony S., Glenn A., and Raul G. for their much needed donations. Still, that leaves me short $175. Folks, you don't need to donate a massive amount of money to help Party Favorz reach our goal of $500. The recommended amounts when you land on the donation page are just that. There's a box at the end that allows you to enter ANY AMOUNT of your choosing and that you can afford. I realize that not everyone is a walking ATM and definitely appreciate the support I receive from subscriptions but there's just not enough money there for me to cover my annual hosting costs. If all you can afford is $5 — I'll happily accept it. Whatever it takes to help me keep Party Favorz going for at least another year. I promise, you won't be disappointed. I'll be back tomorrow with the 4th and final installment of the Ultimate Eurodance Collection. Until then...ENJOY! Starting off with the quintessential Eurodance hit, "Barbie Girl" by Aqua, this compilation will take you back to the time when catchy lyrics and infectious beats were all the rage. Regardless of personal opinions about its merits, there's no denying the impact this track had on the Eurodance scene. Similarly, tracks from Vengaboys, like "We Like To Party" and "Boom Boom Boom," encapsulated the era's sound with their distinct Ibiza beat and memorable hooks, earning their place on both dance and pop charts globally. This collection also includes Alice Deejay's "Better Off Alone," a track that perfectly captured the spirit of late 90s heartache against a backdrop of pulsating beats. With its undeniable Eurodance and Techno influences, this track became a comforting anthem for many during times of emotional turmoil. Moving slightly into the realm of Trance, we have the early millennium hit "Toca's Miracle" by Fragma, and N-Trance's genre-bending "Set You Free," blending Drum & Bass, Freestyle, and Trance. Duke's "So In Love," a significant house music staple with Eurodance elements, is also a noteworthy inclusion in this volume. Tracks like Rozalla's "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)" and Billie Ray Martin's "Your Loving Arms" offer a seamless blend of House and Eurodance, demonstrating the genre's versatility. Abigail's remakes of "Losing My Religion" and "Constant Craving" further illustrate this fusion, combining familiar tunes with a Eurodance and Trance twist for an enticing dancefloor experience. No Eurodance compilation would be complete without Nicki French's dancefloor-filling rendition of Bonnie Tyler's classic "Total Eclipse of the Heart," an exceptional blend of Hi-NRG and Eurodance. Likewise, Livin' Joy's hits "Dreamer" and "Don't Stop Movin'," provide a winning fusion of House and Eurodance. With the third volume of the Ultimate Eurodance Collection, dive into the nostalgic memories of the 90s Eurodance and Techno era, filled with classic tunes that transcended genre boundaries. Stay tuned for the final installment of this journey, and as always... ENJOY! Album : The Ultimate Eurodance Collection vol. 3 Genre : Euro-dance, Hi-NRG, Techno Year : 2020 Total Time : 01:52:30 1. From its roots in hip hop, techno, and house music, Eurodance emerged as a vibrant genre in the 90s, characterized by melodic vocals and up-tempo beats. Uncover the era's iconic tracks, like "The Power" by Snap!, an exemplary fusion of Eurodance elements, and "Coco Jamboo" by Mr. President, a staple of the Eurodance scene. Recall the transformative impact of "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" by C+C Music Factory and "Ride On Time" by Black Box, both exemplifying the cross-over appeal of Eurodance with house music and techno. The collection also includes stellar Hi-NRG and Techno tunes like "Love To Hate You" by Erasure and "Dirty Cash (Money Talks)" by Adventures of Stevie V. Not to forget, "I Like To Move It" by Reel 2 Real and "What Is Love" by Haddaway, capturing the fast-paced, infectious energy of 90s Eurodance. Revel in the remix of Bonnie Tyler's classic "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Nicki French, a reminder of Eurodance's legacy of breathing new life into pop ballads originally a #1 power ballad by Bonnie Tyler in the 80s. This mix also brings you closer to the early millennium's filtered House Music trend with tracks like "Around The World" by Daft Punk and "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust. Harder edge techno tracks like the underground favorite "Fingerfoc" by Friends of Carlotta stands out as a club favorite despite its NSW raunchy lyrics. Whether you're a seasoned club-goer or a newcomer to the scene, Party Favorz's Ultimate Eurodance Collection offers a rich taste of the pulsating beats and melodic vocals that made the 90s Eurodance and the Techno scene unforgettable. Eurodance is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in the late 1980s in Europe. It combines many elements of hip hop, techno, Hi-NRG, house music and Euro disco. This genre of music is heavily influenced by the use of rich melodic vocals, either exclusively by itself or inclusively with rapped verses. -Wikipedia The description of Eurodance by Wikipedia is pretty much on point. As Party Favorz has said before, most genres rely heavily on previous styles, which in turn relied heavily on previous dance music trends. These days people would say that it's cultural appropriation as all dance music has it's roots in the blues as much as rock and roll does. In fact, you can draw a parallel line from one genre to the next and hear the influences in various artists own creations. Eurodance is not overly broad though there are some tracks that come in at a slower beat, the majority tended to by 130 BPM and higher. This style of dance music was at its commercial peak during the 90's but switched gears to what would now be referred to as Hard Style, where the BPM was pushed as high as 145 BPM in the early millennium. While not a novel ideal, popular tracks like "Heaven" by DJ Sammy, "What It Hurts the Most" by Cascada and "Listen To Your Heart" by DHT were all massive pop ballads before getting the neck-pain inducing overhaul provided by contemporary eurostyle makeovers. This re-translation of pop ballads has been going on since the 70's when Donna Summer reworked Barry Manilow's "Could It Be Magic" and Richard Harris' "MacArthur Park" and Viola Wills' disco reinterpretation of Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind." Even the Almighty music production house created a worthy Hi-NRG remake of Diana Ross' "Touch Me In the Morning." Of their remixes, I've included their re-work of the Bonnie Tyler classic "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Nicki French which was a massive floor-filler at the time. The Ultimate Eurodance Collection contains every single major release (in the United States), which most of us remember from being hammered at radio, MTV and our favorite clubs. I took some licence and mixed in a few House Music, Trance, Hi-NRG and Techno tracks to balance out these sets. However, make no mistake — all your Eurodance fantasies are contained within these four volumes. Even though I took a different approach when putting these together than my previous efforts — I have to admit that they came out quite stellar. There's a lot of sugar, cheese and syrup contained here but at least I can look back and say "yeah, that was a thing and I danced my ass off to these songs so fuck you!" I'm finishing up volume 4 today and plan on staggering these out the rest of the week. Until the next time...ENJOY! I want to thank one of our longtime followers Marshall for guilt-tripping the puritan in me into swapping out the The KLF feat. Tammy Wynette "Justified & Ancient (Stand by the JAMs) with the correct version. The version I used was the original version from 1987 with vocalist Maxine Harvey. I must have listened to this set 5 times before giving it my seal of approval and don't know how I missed that. Nevertheless, it's now been corrected. Our Conversation with Michael Anton, former advisor to President Trump and author of the excellent new book After The Flight 93 Election: The Vote that Saved America and What We Still Have to Lose. Anton discusses his tenure in the Trump White House and outlines the high stakes for 2020. Noting the "fraud" of the two-year Mueller Investigation and the Team Obama "frame operation on Donald Trump," Anton urges ardent pursuit of accountability for felonious government operatives. If they get away with it, we've "crossed a dangerous threshold" from which there's no return. Is the conservative movement ready to go on offense? [Anton Interview ranges from 15:00 to 41:00 in this hour's Podcast.] Meanwhile, Host Dunn carries on with a monologue on the increasingly impressive "character" of President Trump. How remarkable that Trump has had the fortitude to withstand the ferocity of the Beltway Establishment, and even find a way to thrive against the odds. Disciplined Trump has waited out the unjust Mueller provocations, the whole Deep State scam attacking his own children. And now that AG Barr has showed up -- it is Trump's Turn. Get Ready. We describe Team Mueller's failed strategy to convert their nothing-burger into an actual something, and how the savvy Trump never took their bait. Also, we outline our predictions for spinnable "negative kernels" in the full Mueller Report, and the empty MSM bonanza that will ensue. Plus, amusing audio from Robert Smith's encounter with a giddy reporter upon his band The Cure's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If it's bitterly cold, snowing, or iced-over where you're at never fear as Party Favorz is here to put a little sunshine in your day with Hi-NRG Gay Anthems volume 3! This set pulls from both decades with a few caveats. The late Viola Wills got started in the clubs in the early 80s with hits like "Gonna Get Along Without You Now" and "If You Could Read My Mind" (a remake of the Gordon Lightfoot #1 early 70s classic) is featured here with her rendition of the 1930's torch classic "Stormy Weather" turning it into a hi-energy floor stomper that pulled all the gay boys to the floor. As for "If You Could Read My Mind," the dance version initially brought to life for the dance floor by Viola was re-worked by Amber, Jocelyn Enriquez, and Ultra Naté aka Stars On 54 and produced by Hex Hector for the movie Studio 54. I used the version by the fabulous Soraya Vivian who under the Fierce Angel imprint has created some fantastic classic remakes with her soaring vocals. Nicki French took over for Bonnie Tyler with her rendition of "Total Eclipse of the Heart," which was a massive dance hit in the early 90s and given the Almighty treatment. Equally, Martha Wash re-sung "It's Raining Men" sans the late Izora Rhodes. Frankly, there are a plethora of 80s dance classics in this set that should be instantly recognizable even to the average listener. However, one song that I have to mention is the feminist anthem "I've Never Been To Me" by Charlene, which was oddly written by two men (go figure). Charlene was the only white artist signed to Motown Records, and the song was initially released in 1977 and 1978 barely cracking the Top 100. It was re-released again in 1982 where it topped at #3 on the charts for several weeks and was the only hit Charlene had recorded but had a lasting impact. The cheesy song gained popularity again when it was included in the 1994 movie "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" and has been a drag queen favorite ever since. Charlene re-sung the vocals but used the altered lyrical section of the song (I spent my life exploring the subtle whoring that cost too much to be free) for the dance version. The truth is, I could go on and on about the origins of various songs and the singers behind them, but my guess is you want to get to the music. In the end, it's all about the memories and lots of fun! I'll be back on Wednesday to close out this series with volume 4. Until then...ENJOY! Before I forget, I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Anthony S. and Paul S. for their generous donations. The only thing I ask is not to let the well run dry before I decide to renew my host in April for another year. If I do, that's when I'm going to need the money. Nevertheless, this is going to help me dig up some rare treasures for the (as of now) planned significant Madonna celebration multi-series collection I have on tap for August. If I make it that far, this will be the most comprehensive and worthwhile series I've ever put out for any artist that will be cherished for decades to come. Full stop!
