Discover simple and effective methylation support strategies to boost your health, energy, and vitality.Methylation defects refer to genetic or biochemical issues that disrupt the body's ability to properly carry out the methylation process, which is essential for detoxification, DNA repair, neurotransmitter production, and overall cellular health. A common cause of methylation defects is mutations in the MTHFR gene, which can impair the body's ability to process folate and produce methyl groups. This can lead to a variety of health issues, including fatigue, cognitive problems, mood disorders, and an increased risk of chronic diseases.**Treating Methylation Defects** Treatment for methylation defects often involves supporting the body's ability to methylate through dietary and lifestyle changes. Key strategies include:1. **Folate**: Ensure you're getting enough bioavailable forms of folate, such as L-methylfolate, which is easier for those with MTHFR mutations to absorb and utilize.2. **Vitamin B12**: Methylcobalamin is the preferred form of B12 for methylation support, as it directly contributes to the methylation cycle.3. **Vitamin B6**: Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P) is the active form of B6, which helps in the conversion of homocysteine to cysteine, a process crucial for detoxification.4. **Betaine (Trimethylglycine)**: This supplement can help support methylation by donating methyl groups to the body, particularly for those who have difficulty utilizing folate and B12.5. **SAMe (S-Adenosyl Methionine)**: SAMe is a direct methyl donor that can help support mood, detoxification, and liver function.6. **Antioxidants**: Supplements like vitamin C, E, and glutathione may help protect cells from oxidative stress due to impaired methylation.7. **Magnesium**: Supports enzyme function and relaxation, helping to reduce the stress that can exacerbate methylation problems.**Diet and Lifestyle** A diet rich in whole foods, including leafy greens (for folate), healthy fats, and lean proteins, can help optimize methylation. Avoiding toxins, reducing stress, and getting adequate sleep are also key factors in supporting methylation health. Consulting with a healthcare provider or functional medicine practitioner is advised to tailor supplementation and dietary changes based on individual needs.Check out my facebook page for health coaching/consulting: https://www.facebook.com/sagehealthcoachingIn this episode, I share practical tips and resources, including supplements and books that have helped me on my journey.Whether you're looking to optimize your well-being or gain insight into nutritional genetics, there's something here for you.Resources mentioned in the episode:Horbäach Creatine Monohydrate PowderA vegetarian, non-GMO, gluten-free supplement perfect for energy and muscle support.Buy on AmazonSeeking Health Multivitamin One MFMTHFR support with folinic acid and vitamin B12 in a methyl-free, easy-to-digest formula.Buy on AmazonDirty Genes by Dr. Ben LynchA revolutionary guide to health and wellness through nutritional genetics and personalized plans.Buy on AmazonSeeking Health Optimal PCBrain and liver support with sunflower lecithin for optimal energy and function.Buy on AmazonSeeking Health B Complex PlusA vitamin B complex supplement designed to support brain health, digestion, and energy.Buy on AmazonContact & Additional Resources:

Welcome to Episode #69 of the Red Ink Revival Leadership Podcast. Today’s conversation is with Dr. Tina Payne Bryson, a New York Times Best Selling Author and leading professional expert in child development and parenting. Our conversation takes us into the following topics: Tina’s backstory of becoming a professional parenting expert Attachment science and how attachment patterns develop our relationship templates for life Science’s best predictor of how well our children will turn out Defining the four attachment patterns that form how we connect in relationships The “4 Ss” that build secure attachment (safe, seen soothed and secure) Parenting unpredictability and its impact on a child’s brain The power of consistent relationship repairs in creating a child’s window of tolerance The importance of engaging our own story to know why kids can push our trigger buttons What happens in a child’s emotional circuits when parents offer empathy and connection What the answer is in parenting a child when you don’t know what to do Fears that “I might be screwing my kids up.” How our own parenting shame spiral will compel future “flip my lid” cycles The most attuned parents will get parenting connections wrong about 70% of the time It’s never too late to repair past relationship ruptures even though the child is now an adult How to make sense of and manage parent guilt or mom guilt. Half of who our kids become is because of genetics, and the other half is because of experience and epigenetics Parents that ruminate around regrets do so because of roots in their own story and unprocessed anxieties How to be at peace from regrets that we didn’t raise our kids in church How the brain processes circuits for feeling stuck/regret versus circuits of empowerment Do we need to forgive ourselves for parenting mistakes? Using rituals and symbols to let go of the guilt and shame of parenting failures. Our history is not our destiny. How understanding our own parent’s backstories will compel compassion from us today Managing the shame and what to do when we have feelings of “not liking” or even “being disgusted” with our kids. A personal word to mothers for Mother’s Day love and encouragement Dr. Tina Payne Bryson is the author of the Bottom Line for Baby and co-author (with Dan Siegel) of two New York Times Best Sellers—The Whole-Brain Child and No-Drama Discipline—each of which has been translated into over fifty languages, as well as The Yes Brain and The Power of Showing Up. She is the Founder and Executive Director of The Center for Connection, a multidisciplinary clinical practice in Southern California. Dr. Bryson keynotes conferences and conducts workshops for parents, educators, and clinicians all over the world, and she frequently consults with schools, businesses, and other organizations. An LCSW, Tina is a graduate of Baylor University with a Ph.D. from USC. The most important part of her bio, she says, is that she’s a mom to her three boys. Cindy Levine shares what projects that keep her busy during the winter months and time during the quarantine. We talk about our healthy addiction of paddle boarding, the importance of getting outside and experiences of teaching yoga. Our dogs also share their voice in the background. Veggie Lasagna One jar marinara sauce ( I use Trader Joe's Tomato Basil Marinara) about 25 oz 2 whole carrots 2 handfuls of Broccoli florets 1 handful of spinach 1 bag (two cups) grated mozzarella (So Delicious has a great dairy free one) 2 containers of ricotta (Tofutti makes a vegan one) 2 eggs (or egg replacer/flax “eggs”) 1 tsp. Italian seasoning 6 oz. shredded Parmesan cheese (Violife makes a great vegan one!) 1 box of No boil noodles Steam carrots and broccoli until soft Reserve the liquid you cook them in (for the noodles.) Blend carrots and broccoli with marinara sauce in a cuisinart or blender. (It will resemble a “meaty sauce.” Follow directions on no boil noodles and add the extra water from the steamed veggies. Usually it's 1/2 cup water/milk for every five noodles. Blend ricotta, eggs, spinach and Italian seasoning together in a bowl and set aside. In a 9x13 glass casserole, spread one cup of the prepared marinara over the bottom. Top with one layer of noodles. Spread 1/2 of the ricotta cheese mixture over noodles, then one cup of the marinara, and sprinkle one third of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top. Repeat # 6 Top with the last layer of noodles, remaining marinara sauce. Sprinkle the top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Cover with parchment, then foil. (If the foil comes in contact with tomato sauce, it will break down the aluminum and you don't want that in your lasagna!) Bake covered at 350 for 45 minutes. Bake uncovered for another 15 minutes. Let rest 15 minutes. Enjoy! DIY hand sanitizer 10 drops Lavender essential oil 6 drops Lemongrass essential oil 25 drops Tea Tree essential oil 1 ounce (6 teaspoons) Aloe Vera gel 2 ounces (12 teaspoons) alcohol (you can use vodka for this) 1 tsp Vitamin E oil Mix together in a two oz. colored glass spray bottle. Catrice M. Jackson is the Global Visionary Leader of the Awakened Conscious Shift, the CEO of Catriceology Enterprises, an international speaker, and a best-selling author, is a straight up, on the rocks with no chaser voice for racial justice who is unapologetic and unflinching with her anti-racism message.
